IS the safestrap available in Goo Manager the same one available here on XDA, it looks like it is, but I just want to be sure.
Thanks

I unlocked then rooted my nexus 7 8GB. Mainly to access external storage. This I achieved and with stickmount was able to achieve the objective, reading from a usb stick.
I felt at the time that there was something wrong as installed app Titanium backup pro - but could never find it. though google still tells me it is installed.
Rom manager states I have ClockworkMod 6.0.1.0 & that 6.0.2.3 is available BUT after dowloading "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" an error occures.
I installed root checker pro. It advises that not rooted properly although busybox is installed correctly. Reports attached
I have both superuser installed at original root. Since also installed Super su, neither will install binary code.
Is there anything I can do to ensure I am rooted and stay that way?
Thanks for any help offered.
Easiest thing to do boot into recovery, make a backup always,do a wipe flash a custom ROM plenty out there
You may have lost your root, so try to reroot. As for keeping root, DL Voodoo OTA RootKepper from the Play Store. Works like a charm.
Is flashify or other 3rd party apps dependent on custom roms like CWM or TWRP? Or will work (flashing zips like rom, xposed etc.) even without custom recoveries?
anyone?
not sure i understand what youre asking. are you asking if you can flash ROMs via flashify?
Yes i was asking if flashify will work even you dont have TWRP or CWM?

Flashify is an app that flashes TWRP or CWM whichever image you point it at. You download flashify from the market, the TWRP and CWM images are downloaded from XDA.
How about other 3rd party apps? Like goo manager, rom manager these apps flashes zips right? Will it work even i dont have cwm/twrp? For example, i want to flash some xposed module, i will use goo manager even i dont have twrp. Will it work?
Do anyone know the answers to @marshygeek questions?
Do Flashify or other tools let flash mods without installing a custom recovery on the phone?
Thanks!
I do not know for sure but 99.9% it won't work that way.

I don't think so. Flashify only pushes files to a specific partition. You need a custom recovery in order to flash mods.

Installed the 2.7.0.0 version of TWRP using Autorec. Worked flawless on my D802.
Took me a little bit more time to figure out how to upgrade recovery to version 2.7.1.0.
So far I discovered 2 possible approaches and like to share it with you:
1. Following the instructions within the original TWRP thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449679).
This requires the TWRP Manager app from the Play Store. Install TWRP Manager, open it and provide root permissions. Then hit Advanced->Install Recovery.
Downside of this approach is that the TWRP Manager app requires you to install Stericson BusyBox. Since I didn't want to mess with an other already installed Busybox version, I looked for another approach
2. Flash new version through TWRP recovery itself. This is probably the most simple/straight approach.
Download zip version of TWRP 2.7.1.0 (e.g. from http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/g2d802)
Save it in phone memory. Reboot in recovery and flash zip the usual way.
I did use the second approach, which worked flawless.
I've searched the forums and only found recoveries for Sprint. I'm afraid to do anything with my G900V until I have a backup. I have rooted already but that's about it. I assume I'd have to use SafeStrap because of the locked bootloader, but SafeStrap doesn't seem to install correctly. I do have busybox and SS installed already so that isn't the problem. Any help will be very much appreciated! Thanks.

No recovery for lollipop.
Make sure you have busybox installed correctly. You will have to be on 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 for safestrap to install. Use this one. You can also use flashfire for backing up your system but it isn't a custom recovery.
Thanks. Very much appreciated.
I've been away from modding since I mistakenly bought the verizon gs5 (G900V) and saw that there wasn't even a way to root it. I started looking around again and saw that towelroot now works for the G900V. Now that I've rooted, I can't seem to find one unified thread to installing a good recovery, and flashing a ROM. Ideally, I'd like a step-by-step on how to install CWM-Touch and then CyanogenMod CM12.
Would anyone be able to give me that step-by-step?
Install Busybox first
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en_GB
Run it, and install as directed.
Then use this to install TWRP Recovery
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager&hl=en_GB
You'll remember the flashing custom steps once you have a custom recovery Im sure, if not, reply here
This is probably outside the scope of my original question, but will the cm12 kltevsw nightlies flash to my G900V correctly after installing TWRP?
I'm not asking about stability, just that whether it would install properly.
You'd have to check compatibility of any custom ROM for your model S5, in that ROMs thread
Fair enough. I guess a better question I should've started with is this: Does the busybox and TWRP install allow me to use AOSP Roms?

So long as your device is supported for the custom ROM you want to flash, then yes, TWRP will allow you to flash anything custom
Busybox is only needed for TWRP manager app, in order to flash TWRP in the first place, you can remove it once you have TWRP if you want
