Hi guys,
I have a problem since the first 4.3 release. When the phone is in sleep mode, the cellular signal dead and i must turn on the airplane mode and turn off it. It's a very fastidious problem, what can i do?
GT-9505 with XViSiON Rom and KT Kernel.
PS: Sorry for my english
anyone?
I have the same problem.
I have even tried different Android 4.3 ROM's to my GT-I9505 where all lost it's GSM signal when i'm setting my phone into sleep mode.
I though for some time that my phone was faulty somewhere here. But to confirm that this was only happening in Android 4.3, i installed FoxHound v2.0 ROM earlier today witch was the latest Android 4.2.2 ROM of that ROM. Here i don't have that problem anylonger.
So what's going on with the Android 4.3 ROM's. Does anyone have any clues?
must be the modem, i had a similar problem back when i was on the S3 and it was related to that
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk
happy to know I'm not the only one and happy to know that the problem is only in 4.3. can I flash the 4.2.2 modem on 4.3 rom? or it isn't compatible?
Thanks for reply and sorry for my English
You probably have flashed/installed too good modification
Try to reinstall software, do restore from backup (if you have) or try to google it... No idea why.. I understand it happens for wifi, but not for "mobile signal"
Ok I flashed a MH8 modem and for now it's ok, today and tomorrow i test if it work.
Ok, i have now flashed the XXUEMK8 modem by doing the instructions under here:

Use Odin v3.04
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.
The only thing i did differently was to use the Odin3 v3.0.9 application instead. You can download this here or here.
You can find all of the modems you need here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025
Now the signals isn't dropping anymore
So there you have my confirmation on this. So anyone who have the same problem should just do the same by installing the newest modem you find in the link over.

I has also attempted to update the base band when on this rom to MGA to the About device Baseband version stayed at XXUBMEA
Situation: I was getting lots of force closureswouldn'tentually it just wouldnt reboot, thenre-flashedvery failed. I reflashed the recovery and restored from wouldn'thowever it still wouldnt boot. (About 90% of the way through the bSamsungmation the audio samsung logo sound died. The Samsunghen went to the "samsung" static image with the blue LED light on and just stayed there... for about 30 mins before I force shutdown the phone.
I the attempted to flash stock ROM (listed in Goal above) downloaded from SamMobile. The same thing happened again. Boot gets stuck. I got into stock recovery and wre-flashedactory reset and reflashed. The ROM installed but I had no wifi. I then flashed the I9505XXUBMGA modem. Reboot and I had wifi. However About device still shows XXUBMEA baseband.
I wanted to see if I was able to get OTA updates from Samsung however Samsung update app is saying that the device is modified... so something isnt quite right yet. Im guessing it might be to do with the modem / baseband but to be honest I am a bit lost.
Screen shot of my current About Device Information. Also Device Status is showing as custom..
Thinking outloud here... would a Root->TriangleAway->reset counter etc->flash philz touch->full wipe for new ROM->boot to download->Odin flash stock fix it? Or could that do any further damage?
First install chainfires triangle away to reset your flash counter. For this you need root.
Then do a factory reset in recovery and flash stock with odin.
You wont get ota when flash counter >0 so give it a try.
Hopefully this helps
EDIT: If the new modem wont appear after a odin flash then uncheck the auto reboot option in odin and flash the modem twice, that helped for me.
Device Status is showing as custom, because you had flashed non-stock rom...
so the wifi not working, but can you make call??
The first time I flashed OMEGA ROM, wifi did not work, but flashed Adam kernel fixing the issue.
Look at his attachment, mobile connection seems working
@polcup please report back if it worked.

Yep, I will try that over lunch and see if it works. Not sure that will get me to the XXUBMGA modem though but its certainly a step in the right direction.
I really appreciate both your replys. Thanks.
Look at my edit in first post.
Uncheck auto reboot in odin and flash only the modem twice (manual reboot to download mode after first flash) after second flash reboot device.
That worked for me

Superb! I will try that as well. Thanks!!
Update
I was unable to root I9505XXUBMGA. CF-Autoroot didnt stick. I tried a couple of installs. One through Odin and one through CWM. Neither took.
I flashed an older pre-rooted stock rom I had XXUBMEA and then ran Triangle away. It returned the counter to '0' and brought the status back to official.
So now im back to stock MEA and to be honest I am happy to stay here for a bit. I will maybe move up to MGA if I find a pre-rooted version.
Thanks for your help.
Sorted!
Hi, i just got myself a Samsung Galaxy S4 and i have succesfully flashed several roms. But when i flashed back to the original firmware with Odin, suddenly my WiFi can't be enabled, and my speakers don't work. I have tried factory resetting, and a full wipe, but it didn't work. But when i use a different rom, the wifi starts working again.
if anyone could help me it would be great
known issue with MJ5 stock firmware, is this what you have?
Flash one of the Wifi Fix modems here with Odin. Make sure that the one you download matches the firmware you are running.
Hope that fixes it, if it doesn't work first time, flash it, restart phone back into download mode, and flash again. Had to do that with mine.

Hello, i'm writing here since, having less than 10 posts, i can't post in the original thread by Jamal2367
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544474
I live in Italy, operator H3G, 9505, baseband I9505XXUEMK9
I tested all previous release from Jamal (and use his 4.3 v2 daily), 4.0 works fine, no reboots, no FC
I have some problems, network related:
- LTE doesn't work, icon doesn't show up
- can't search mobile networks, only get a long wait then no results
- CAN autoregister, internet and calls works fine
- the dropdown notification window got stuck mid-screen, couldn't find a way to remove it, i rebooted
- roaming data comes default on (not good imo)
- APN: i have an additional new APN, 3 IT, never had that. Switching between 3 and 3 IT doesn't make LTE work
Is anyone experiencing these problems?

I was on a lower baseband and did an upgrade to I9505XXUEMK9 using this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025
I only upgraded the modem.bin using Odin and thus did not have the knox bootloader and also did not need to flash the LTE modems.
Next I flashed Jamal's KK 4.4 GE S4 v4.0 rom (full wipe data, cache and devlik) that already have faux123's kernel bundled in it, and flashed updated superSU 1.8 and I did not have any problems with any of your problems mentioned above.
I suggest going to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/ to check if you are using the correct firmware.
I"m on modem mj8 and v2 4.4 of jamal. everything is stable and fast.
Try to do a full wipe: system,data,cache.dalvik. than flash the rom.
First flash the modem via odin 3.04.
phone works perfectly on 4.3
i always clear cache before and after flashing roms, sometimes i even format /system
I tried 4.4 AOSP and LTE works just fine, tried another GE and no LTE again, so it must be something related to GE
i'm gonna flash MKE to see if it makes any difference
??
i flashed I9505XXUEMKE but in info i still see MK9

If you are having issues with the baseband not changing after flashing, please do the 'manual', more troublesome way
1) When in Odin, remember to select Phone, not PDA and UNTICK AutoReboot
2) Flash modem
3) Once done, reboot once again into Download Mode
4) Flash Modem once more like in Step 1-2
5) Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
P.S. For me, I rebooted my device manually in Download Mode by lifting the battery after Odin has completed flashing

Hey,
I recently installed Omega Rom v19 (Android 4.3) on my Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 Intl.
All of a sudden it loses cellular connection instantly whenever I lock the phone with the power key. It will take a couple of minutes before it will come back and this is REALLY annoying.
Any help on this would be great, could it be a modem issue? My baseband is I9505DVUAMD8
I installed a 4.4.2 Google Edition Rom prior to this one and it did the same thing, I have no idea how to fix it!?
Thanks!

Flashed a new modem which did not work, could it be a kernel issue perhaps? What is a recommended kernel for use with Omega v19?
Cheers

I doubt you flash it right follow this instruction. and check your baseband version if it changes that should fix your dropping issue. Remember to turn off your phone Manually before flashing anything via odin.
Use Odin
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.

Thanks for the reply,
After flashing the modem I checked and the baseband had changed to the new modem, I am trying a different modem soon, once it has downloaded. I will see how I go with this new one.

Hey Guys,
Today I updated my i9505 from Cynogen Mod 10.3.1 to the new "[AOSP] Official 4.4.2 - S4 Google Edition - Final-R1.1" by Jamal, but I read that you needed to update to the leaked 4.4.2 before flashing so that the modem and bits are upto date before flashing any 4.4.2 ROMs or else you could end up with no wifi after flashing.
So I followed these instructions to flash the leaked 4.4.2:
INSTRUCTIONS
- Extract (unzip) the firmware file
- Download Odin3 v3.09 (From here or here)
- Extract Odin .ZIP file
- Open Odin3 v3.09
- Restart phone in download mode (Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons)
- Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
- Add AP_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 to AP
- Add BL_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 to BL
- Add CP_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 to CP
- Add CSC_OXA_I9505OXAFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 to CSC
- Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
- Click start button, sit back and wait a few minutes.
Which all went well but I couldn't get Wifi after flashing, and (probably not important) but the default language it choose during the setup was Dutch??? Seeing as I couldnt get the wifi to enable I decided to flash Philz Touch Recovery v6 and then put Jamal's "S4 Google Edition - Final-R1.1" by putting it onto the SD card and flashing through Philz recovery.
Flashing went without a problem.... only thing is now I cant get Vodafone (UK) signal 80% of the time, the other 20% I do get signal and can make calls, just seems strange as previously 80% I WOULD get signal!
Did I do something wrong? I had a really bad feeling that flashing the CP, BL and CSC has somehow messed things up......please help!

I just fixed the problem, ColdIce23, check your Baseband Version under Settings > About Device, I bet yours is still set to the original baseband version like mine was...
1) Re-Download the Baseband for the leaked 4.4.2 rom (Here)
2) Open Odin 3.09 and do the following:
Ok it worked.
If anyone else is having issues with the baseband not changing, do this.
Use Odin v3.04
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)
Flash Modem once more

Now I have FULL SIGNAL! .....so far..... will report back once I have left work but this is a good sign as I had no signal what-so-ever 5 minutes ago!
Flasing a 4.4.2 Modem works well with the Kit Kat based roms. Two to choose from NA1 or NA5, depending on what bootloader your on flash the appropriate modem files.
I've got NA5 on the 4.4.2 GE Rom with Three and no signal issues as of yet.

I flashed the NA5 modem which seems to have failed the first time round, as it didnt actually change the baseband version in settings. Since flashing a second time (when it actual flashed properly) I now have full signal...... but I have another problem now:
When I click the dailer and select a person to call, the screen goes black and I dont see/hear any indication that a call has initiated. I tried with my wife and her phone rings and she can answer the call, but my screen is still black with no sound....
I have tried wiping data / davlik / cache and installing the rom from scratch, but I still get the same issue?
UPDATE:
Right so I just flashed CM11 as a test, and still can't make calls, so obviously not a ROM fault..... does the BL, CP or CSC have anything to do with the making calls procress?
I've got a similar issue.
I've got a M919V running Jamal's 4.3 GPE rom, but after flashing Jamal's 4.4.2 GPE i get no signal. After going into settings and selecting network the signal lasts, but after the screen goes off signal is once again lost.
Is there a procedure to follow that will fix this? This is found when when flashing many 4.4 roms.
-Thanks
Well, I get signal when I'm near a cell tower...
No changes tho. Still same problem.
Hi guys,
I'm wondering if you have resolved your modem problems?
I flashed to Jamal's 4.4.2 version 1.2 and I don't have a signal now.
I flashed the modem to NA5 but styill no signal. Also I can't even check my CSC using *#1234# as "Mobile network not available"
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Hi Duskin,
For me, I think it's releated to the phone itself as I got a screen replacement. I haven't solved the problem yet because I got to get back to the store where I got my screen replaced.
