I just got my HD2 it boots fine into the stock ROM. The only thing I did was HSPL it.
I noticed that I can't enter the bootloader via the volume button method nor hard reset it....
Any idea whats wrong?

Do all of those buttons work when the phone is booted? If so, maybe you are doing something wrong. Never heard of this issue.
Yes, the volume buttons work in Winmo.

Are you holding down the volume buttons, and then hitting the power button? You haven't mentioned that you are hitting the power button so I'm just wondering... Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it. Volume down and Power gets you bootloader. Volume up and down and power gets you a hard reset...

Yeah, I'm like 100% sure I'm doing things correctly. It just goes straight to the -t-mo introduction.
I've found one other post some guy saying the same problem maybe i'll PM him.
Does it matter that I'm not using the OEM battery?
While I was booting up my xoom, I accidentally selected "NVFlash" by playing with the volume keys at the "Motorola Dual Core Technology", now I cannot seem to turn off or restart the tablet, no matter how long I hold the power button.
It's stuck at a pure black screen with the LED on on the right. Anyone know how to get out this? Thanks in advance. I couldn't find anything about this on the Xoom -- just the G Tablet and LG Optimus 2X.
Solution: Yea don't laugh Just press both volume keys and the power button and the xoom will turn off no matter what.

lol great you set up the problem and solved it. Cong!
hi all
I gave noticed a weird behavior with my device.
When I try to get into recovery with volume down+ power..I go into the bootloader menu. Trying to use volume up + power I get three haptic gesturs and the led lights in orange and get stuck.
I can get into recovery using the HBOOT menu and using the EXT4 power menu
Any suggestions?
Wizard
Volume down + power ALWAYS takes you to bootloader. I'm not sure what made you think otherwise. Your phone is behaving normally.

Sure thing. Not to be a thanks whore, but there is a button for that.
First question: Not sure if it's the phone or the software but when I shutdown my phone and try to turn it back on by holding the volume button and the power button, it doesn't work. But as soon as release the power button, it decides to turn on. Can someone help me with this?
Second question: Does my phone need to be rooted to get Android 4.1.1?
NOTE* Currently on Android 2.3
1) Keep trying, you shouldn't have to release a button to turn it on. Are you holding the right buttons? Its down+power
2)Yes

First Volume down, then the power button, it should be on within 3 seconds.
Do you have ADB enabled? Plug your phone into your computer, if your computer recognizes it via ADB, come back

I would try pushing recovery img through adb. See if that solves the problem.
How do you do a hard restart on the 6T,tries holding the power button in for 10-15 secs and nothing
Thanks for any help
Should be volume down and power button held in while turning the phone on.
I don't mean recovery ,I mean forcing it to shut down ,on all my other phones it was hold in power button

i thikn u just have to hold it down for much longer. i've noticed that power on takes probably a full second longer of holding the button than any other phone i've ever had.
Can't even get it to switch off ,held it down for about 30 sec and nothing

i read somewhere on here that you may have to press and hold both volume buttons AND power for the phone to do something. i dont know what it was, but it was something. try that. try all the combinations. holding buttons down isn't going to damage your phone.
Ok this definitely does not work on my one +6T
No matter how long I hold the power button in for it does not force the phone to restart .
Could anyone else test this ,or suggest reasons why .I always liked to do a hard reset Evey week or so so close down any apps that have run in the background etc
Thanks

My phone will hard reboot by pressing and holding power and volume up for approximately 10 seconds. Can you not just reboot the normal way through the power menu?
Mine doesn't turn off just by holding the power button. What you're describing though is not a reset of any type. It's a force shutdown, and that's not something you should be doing unless you need to (when the phone is unresponsive, for example). Just do a regular restart, if you feel the need to be refreshing or resetting, as you call it.
power off /restart/screenshot are the 3 options I get when I push the power button..tmo version..

I tested mang0s solution by pressing power and vol up in both recovery and normal mode. It works, recovery will reboot the phone and in normal mode the phone powers off.

Forcing a shutdown has the potential to cause corruption. If you shut down correctly then the OS tells everything to close first, which will avoid that.

I second this. Hold volume up and the power button and the phone turns off after 10 seconds.
