I am running new sacs v3.1 rom, Philz Recovery and got this message today.
I am assuming it wants to try to lock my device down? It has a confirm or cancel option. So far I have been ignoring it... Here is the text it shows:

Nope.
Wiped, wiped, wiped, flashed, wiped etc when I installed too.
I did get the update notification. I hid the notification the day i got it.
As soon as 4.1 is up I will wipe and flash again. Just wondering if this is as someone here says: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...trange-security-message-since-4-3-update.html in post 14 that it is a function of knox...

There are a total of 6 and a half pages of screens hots for this app. Didn't post the rest, I can if someone wants to look at them though.
What app is that?
Security policy update is the only app I can find that might even contain anything like that?

I just froze app with tbu, I haven't had any update pop ups, unless someone tells me different, like I need it, I'll probably delete in the next couple days as long as there is no noticeable issues

I would just like to know if there is a way to flash a noID rom to the PPC6700. I would love to add Verzion's Rom version I was going to use it because the verizon phone has the ability to get gps data from fieldtrial.exe, where as the Spriint version does not, and maybe it has to do with the ROM?
Also, one last question, even if I don't do that, the regular image of the rom from the unbranded apache would even work.
I would also like to know if there is a way to remove the prefs.dat file from the sprint 6700 found in the filesystem/brew/prefs.dat because when I attempt to delete it usint qpst or bitpim it says that the carrier has restricted access to it. What is so special about this file for Sprint?
the gps data is not based on rom version...it is turned on by the carrier. for sprint, it would show up if you had...say...family locator.
but to answer your question:
search for bal666's htc64 extended rom tool, use it to decrypt the verizon nk.nbf, change carrier to SPCS_001, re-encrypt and flash using the updater from a sprint rom.
I do not have a prefs.dat in my cdma filesystem. why are you interested in removing it? can you post that file?
Not a chance. I can't look at the file without it flipping me off. This file will not remove itself if I smashed it with a hammer. I don't know what it does or what it is, but it is there and I don't like it? Sounds retarded, but if it has no purpose and it is RESTRICTED, I want to see it.
I have uploaded a screenshot of the existance of the file, it's behind the open window, I''m using this for both sites pdahome and here.
It is hosted by our good friends at Tinypic:

I am the NOOB of the forum
Hello, I wanted to take a minute to thank the great amount of useful information on your forums. The information has helped with my Dash and my Wzard. Now I have gotten my hands on a Sprint PPC6700, and, my question is ( forgive me if it is COMPLETELY misplaced) as follows: Is it possible to install the Verizon ROM on this device to make it usable on the Verizon Wireless network, or am I just losing sleep here for no reason?
As always, thanks for any information provided.
Hello again. Well, I decided to read the post(s) on this thread. (SORRY) I decoded the verizon rom and changed the description to read"SPCS_001". NOw, it seemed to freeze on the radio rom update. The screen displayed "Updating the RADIO stack". immediately after that popped up on the screen, the Update utility said that there was an unexpected error. Now the phone will probably have to be flashed back to the Sprint software, but I was really hoping to get the Verizon ROM on there...........help, please. Thanks.
This is a simple proof of concept, this apk retrieves your login credentials in plaintext for Android Forums from the tapatalk demo application. It was not designed for the pro nor the XDA versions, but this method may work on those versions as well. This application has been confirmed to work on MotoDroid (cyanogenmod6) and Droid Eris (various custom roms).
This application does not require root access at all. Just requires demo version of tapatalk, and previously logged into android forums).

*UPDATE* Removed file for now. This appears to be a two part vulnerability. First part being a permissions issue on some custom roms. Second is total lack of securing credentials on Tapatalk's part.
i can confirm this!!!
Yeah ...this works
yea it works. shows all my log info.
Yeah... shows everything....

This thread is nearly 2 years old, so I doubt you'll get a response. Also, since xda has a working friendship with the TapaTalk team I don't think discussion of hacking their software is appropriate. With that in mind I'll close this thread so it stops now.
Thread closed.
My dad told me his droid x got a software update today. I figured there was no way. Then the phone booted and I saw this.

Just a heads up! Check for the update !
Yes, I see that pending update too.
I wonder what Verizon is up to?
As usual, I won't be updating until I know what's in that update.

New Guy
Hi All,
I recently got the nerve to root my phone about 2 weeks ago and have been reading all the information in this forum since then. I received the software update notice yesterday too and figured I'd better register for the this site and ask what will this do if I accept it. I'm glad someone has already posted the same question. :good:

From v4.5.621 to v45.621.10 ?? What's with their version numbering system?
Changelog:
1. Enhanced accuracy and reliability of the Commercial Mobile Telephone Alert (CMAS)
2. Google security patches have been integrated to reduce potential security risks
#2 is too vague. Will it excessively drain my battery, and will it destroy my ability to WiFi tether using FoxFi and/or PDAnet on my unlimited data plan, which Verizon is trying to kick people out of?

Verizon update
I can not update the new Verizon update. 45.621.10.MB810.verizon.en.us.
This is the error message I keep getting. E: Error in /temp/sideload/package.zip (status 7) Installation aborted
I am trying to install this from my SD card. I called the zip file update. I am in recovery mode and choose Apply update from sd card then chose the update.zip folder.
Any ideas woule be appreciated
Hey there. I have a rooted Sprint Galaxy S5. Recently I realized the WiFi Hotspot I'm paying for just doesn't work. It enables. It allows devices to connect. It remains turned on. But any device that connects to my phone fails to achieve an Internet connection.
Yesterday I took my phone in to a Sprint representative who spent a valiant amount of time trying to fix my phone. Unfortunately when he entered ##72786#, the phone started an update process that completely screwed up my activation. I believe he later reprogrammed the phone, but the S5 is still obsessively trying to "finish" activating.

(fun fact: right now when I google "reporting firmware version to server ", nothing is returned. Maybe this'll put it on the map.)
When it's done trying, I see "firmware update not completed."
I've been seeing these messages since yesterday. And I hadn't no idea if any of this has to do with my device being rooted. Rooting is really all I've done, no ROMs or anything of that nature have been attempted... only SDFix and SELinux Mode Changer were run using it.
But I HAVE had activation woes before. When I enabled tethering on my phone, it took the better part of the day for sprint to reactivate it. And I was flying, so the process took several major cities before its success. And this was well before I rooted.
Tl;dr is it possible to use the stock Hotspot and reactivate your sprint phone while rooted with your device in a Custom status?

I'm probably just going to factory reset my phone. Is it safe to do when rooted?

Yeah, it's safe. I've never heard of such a problem so let us know if it works after f.resetting it

I did it via Samsung Kies... this seemed safest. I used to have negative experiences with custom ROMS and ultimately decided this was the best way to go forward.
P.S. Kies is like iTunes but it doesn't suck and it doesn't require a whole lot of authentication. I just learned this. I did a text message backup and restore and that worked great. An app backup was a lot more hit-and-miss; only the apps were backed up, not the data.
So you fixed it this way? ☺

I flashed the last 4.4.4 Final L900 Note 2 Rom as I wanted a stable rom on my wifes phone so she wouldn't have any issues. I have this same rom on another sprint phone and it allows prl/profile updates.
On the Note 2 this option isn't there. it has a mobile networks, then clicking on carrier settings causes a crash and I get an error unfortunately com.android.phone stopped and thats it.
It says it is running PRL# 2407. Is that the latest PRL for this device?
As of now the data, calls, messaging all work. I just want to have prl update available. I used voice dialer and searched for APN to get access, and it shows the attached, but none selected. Perhaps selecting one would enable the network settings so it don't crash? But I don't want to select one then lose any connectivity?

I know this thread won't get much viewing probably, but hoping to find a solution, otherwise I may try cyanogen, but prefer to stick with this rom. I want to make sure she can update PRL if needed. Thanks!!!
I got on my other phone (Sprint galaxy nexus) with omnirom 4.4.4 final and it had this app (see picture). The note 2 omni doesn't have it. I may flash this apk and see if it allows prl/profile updates. Think that's safe to try?
Note2 builds for all LTE-capable devices were a unified "t0lte" build.
I'm not sure how to handle PRL updates for such unified devices, you should look around the Sprint Note 2 forums as this probably is a Sprintism that affects multiple projects.
t0lte support in Omni is pretty much dropped due to lack of a qualified maintainer with the appropriate skills to maintain a device (knows/understands both C and Java sufficiently to fix problems without just hoping CM will fix it.) It's unlikely to return for 5.0/5.1 and 4.4 won't be receiving any further fixes.
Thanks, I guess as long as her phone works with the most current prl she should be fine. I read you can always flash back to a touchwiz rom, then update the prl, then reload omni. A pain, but manageable I guess.
