Hi.
I've noticed that whilst my Trinity is connected via USB it doesn't want to obey the power management settings.
The power off whilst using external power options used to work fine on my Wizard so, uh, the only thing I felt has changed is this new 'Advanced Network Functionality' option (Settings/Connections) which I've kept disabled.
Is that what's causing it?
Anyone else having the same problem?
Anyone have an idea if it possible to use tethering between these two devices? and if so how?
I don't know, is there a wifi hotspot mode available in your phone ?
I got acer liquid metal, and in the settings wireless, I can use tethering... wifi hotspot...
check if you do have similar option in WP7
Go to the Phone section (as if you were going to make a call)
Enter ##634# and select “Call“
It did not call anything. There should now be a “Diagnosis” option on the top of your screen;
Go to Diagnosis and a keypad comes up and enter *#7284# – This will bring up the Micro USB Test and Path Control.
Select Modem, Tethered Call.
The device will restart automatically and is ready for tethering.
But have to check
On my wife's and my own Galaxy s4 running FreeGS4 v2.0 ROM - the hotspot works via menu, I have a toggle widget for it that works too. I can connect up with multiple devices to either phone...
But neither phone will allow more than 2 devices to connect at any one time.
I went into the LAN settings to confirm settings are correct - and they are, DHCP is active and allow up to 100 connects - this was default, i tried lower and lower numbers, all the way down to 8, but neither phone will allow more than 2 connections at the same time.
I tried to toggled airplane mode on and off, I've tried rebooting. I've tried manually entering the settings.
I'm starting to worry that it is a flaw in the ROM itself, but a friend of mine who also has the same phone and ROM as I do claims he can connect more than 2. So I'm not sure but I am at hair pulling out stage at this point.
Anyone have any ideas?
edit - search works! I found the solution, and I feel 3% more stupid for somehow missing it earlier

go to settings - hotspot - "press on configure->show advanced options->maximum connections" Thanks
Click on configure hotspot and page down in the pop up menu that appears. Click the box that says show advanced options and then set the maximum connections you want to allow. You can also set 2.4ghz or 5.0ghz in this menu.
Hi all,
Bit of a problem here, I know that in the ServiceMode menu (dialing *#0011#) there used to be an option for WiFi Power saving. After upgrading to the latest firmware, that option is no longer there. My problem is, I used to use that to solve a problem with an app I used by switching it off then switching it on when I wanted to use WiFi tethering (as this doesn't work with WiFi Power Saving turned off).
Before the upgrade, I turned it off... So, I need to know what this setting actually sets. Is it an option in build.prop? Is it a setting somewhere else? Is there another way to set it?
I want to set it back to, "on" without doing a factory reset as I no longer use the app that had issues with WiFi power saving being on but I do need to use WiFi tethering.
Thanks for any help in advance.
I hate to bump/double post but anyone have any idea? Or if you don't know, do you know how I might find out? I've Googled my fingers raw.
Hi everyone,
I'm new here even I look to this huge forum many time to solve problem with different phone in the past. Right now I'm using a Samsung Galaxy SMJ320A unlocked. I'll buy it unlocked.
Until now I'd never use hotspot or tethering by usb, but few days ago I'll try to share my connection with my pc. The carrier, Vodafone, confirm me that hotspot can be used without problem. I confirm that using my SIM card on another phone with hotspot and tethering. It just my galaxy that have router Wi-Fi and tethering option stuck disabled. I mean, when I try to move the slide of those option from disabled to enable it just immiadetely come back to disabled.
I'll already perform soft reset, hard reset, start at safe mode, but nothing change.
So if anyone had advice on how I can solve that will be great. For solution using computer method, I have Linux OS in my computer, so please no solution using Windows, I can't.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Update
I also reinstalled the original firmware using heimdall in Linux. But nothing change.
Another doubt it's about the fact that in the hidden menu on the top, I meanthe menu you open sliding dowm from the top, the mobile data and hltspot icon are not present at all and I can't add them, cause when I touch the top right gear on the menu, it bring me directly to the main setting menu, no chance to add new icon. I just can change the order of the one already present. Any advice about that?
