Ok so here is the story... Flashed my I337 with MJ6, had some issues but was able to get upgraded to MJ9 yesterday. Then for some reason I decided to try vroot. Vroot worked well for the most part, but I wanted to unroot and accidentally wiped / factory reset the phone. This has put me into a look of powering up to only a screen that says that I have software not authorized by AT&T and it has a big yellow triangle and at the top in red it say "SECURE FAIL: KERNEL". I can get into ODIN mode and the stock recovery, but it fails eveytime i try to reflash MJ6 or the partial MF3 files. Please help, is there anything I can do to fix this or will I have to wait for someone to release a flashable MJ9? Thanks

I have now been able to flash boot.img and aboot.mbn from the MJ9 update files. This has made it so that the phone boots up and immediately after the Samsung Logo it goes black and stays that way. Any suggestions?
Can you odin phils touch or a custom recovery and try to flash a custom or stock Rom? That's worked for me before when odin didn't work. And what version odin are you using? Try 3.07

The phone is no longer rooted so I dont think I would be able to get around stock recovery. I have been using ODIN 3.04, I will try 3.07 and let you know how it goes.
Do NOT try to put a recovery on your phone. It will NOT work and make things worse. Unfortunately since you incremented the qfuse at MF3, then another at MJ6, ( and I do not know but I would think MJ9 may have used another qfuse) you most likely won't be able to do much until the full Odin firmware comes out for MJ9. Hope you get it working.

I'm not sure if Samsung blew a q-fuse between MJ6 and MJ9 or not. MJ6 was never an official release and I have always theorized that a Dev could take the bootloader files from the leaked MJ6 ODIN Tar and put them with the official MJ9 OTA files and create a version of MJ9 that would be ODIN flash-able. I just don't have the time (or extra phone) to try it with.

These are both theories that have run through my head, at first I felt like I may have made changes that were irreversible by flashing MJ6 then back to MF3 then up to MJ9, and I was just going to get it as working as possible and see if BestBuy can flash MJ9 at the "Samsung Experience" I have seen hit or miss results with this on the forums.
I then thought of what scott14719 is saying and i decided to piece together parts of MJ6 and MJ9 because as he said MJ6 was not a full release. I am going to try and put this together today, I am a noob when it comes to android but I will give it a shot.

I'm still deciding whether or not I should flash back to MDL and OTA the 4.3 update when it comes out. What is the exact process in flashing via Odin?
I already know this far;
Download Odin and MDL .tar
Go through the process and let it flash
Wait for the green
Flashed - Boot like normal
OTA to 4.3
I have been hearing about something called Triangle Away. What am I supposed to do exactly with it? What I know so far is, if you want to send your device in for repair or warranty, you should do Triangle Away?
Thanks!

The first link is somewhat useless for what I'm asking. Unless I'm completely oblivious of something.
I already checked Adam's thread, but what is the whole thing about Triangle Away and the flash counter?
Exactly how am I supposed to use it?
Do I flash to MDL, root and then use Triangle Away and then flash via Odin back to MDL or what?
EDIT:
I just installed Triangle Away and my Flash Counter is at 0. So nevermind, I guess I don't have to do anything. Except the weird thing is, I have flashed custom ROM's at least over a couple dozen times and custom recovery twice.
What firmware are you on? I'm sorry if you are on MF3 you cannot downgrade. If you are on MF3, you can root and use safestrap to flash tw roms. Your options are either to stay on MF3 and root it or upgrade.

There is ALWAYS risk. If you try it, you take responsibility for the risk!
I suggest you use the XDA search function or Google if you have any more concers because the answer has generally already been posted to most questions...you just have to search for them and read / learn about them.
Good luck.
**EDIT**
Why not just wait until one of the Devs releases the ODIN TAR for 4.3? It should be available soon after the OTA.
Better yet, just flash a 4.3 ROM to your phone. That way, you can still have the option of Rooting or using a custom recovery on your phone. If you take the 4.3 OTA or ODIN 4.3 to your phone, you will not be able to ROOT or use a custom recovery, at least not yet.
Hi Everyone. I'm having an issue. I have a non rooted S4 and upon hearing of the release of the new Jellybeans 4.3 I decided to do an OTA which failed as the phone informed that no updates were available just yet. I tried using Kies and got a message saying my device current firmware version isnt supported to update firmware via keys. I running 4.2.2 n my device status says official. Model number is sgh-1337.
I entered *#1234# n this is what I saw AP: 1337UCUAMF3, CP: 1337UCUAAMF3, CSC: 1337ATTAMF3
Given that info can anyone provide some insight as to why I cant get an update especially via Kies? Thanks.
I was thinking about reinstalling a stock 4.2.2 atnt rom using Odin in an attempt to maybe fix whatever the problem is as the only modifications the phone has undergone is carrier unlocking via a professional. Help please!
I already downloaded odin 1.85 - 3.9 n got a stock rom from a link that is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261573 titled I337UCUAMDB_I337ATTAMDB_ATT.zip. Just need some advice before I progress. Thanks.

Kies does NOT have the MF3 firmware OR the 4.3 Firmware available. Do NOT try using kies.
Take a look around this forum BEFORE DOING ANYTHING WITH ODIN. You have MF3 Firmware. If you try to flash 4.2.2 MDL or MDB you will brick your phone.
You CAN find a MF3 Odin package in the ATT forums. You can use that to flash the mf3 in Odin to try to fix your phone.
Next if you want the 4.3 Update take a look at the post to go from mf3 to mj9, then look around for the mk2 update as well. Find out what you need to do to flash them in stock recovery.
AGAIN DO NOT TRY FLASHING ANYTHING OLDER THAN MF3 ON YOUR PHONE...

Thanks RockRatt but what is MF3 and how did it get on my phone? UI was looking through the various CSC codes for the galaxy s4 n saw none like that. Additionally what are MJ9 and MK2? ? I'm kinda lost.
Well, I just got the phone and went on to root and I did with the new method for MF3. then, installed safestrap recovery. finally, i messed up and installed an aosp rom, Gummy KitKat 4.4 and now stuck when booting phone. I cannot get into recovery, I cannot install MDB or MDL through odin, and I cant use Kies to restore since I dont have my sticker behind the phone and dont have my serial number. So, what can I do to restore the phone?? Please help. Thank you.

With the link I gave you can get the Odin files for MF3 and use Odin to reflash MF3. AS LONG AS YOUR STILL ON MF3. IF YOU UPDATED TO 4.3 THEN DO NOT FLASH IT AS IT WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE.

Can someone help me take my S4 back to 4.3? I got the OTA update for 4.4 yesterday morning and have had nothing but problems. Terrible battery life (40% down in 3 hours with little to no use) WiFi wont turn on thanks to this piece of junk Knox software. So before I dump Samsung completely for a Moto X or Nexus, can someone help me downgrade from 4.4 back to 4.3 where I had no problems?
Were you totally stock before the OTA? If you still have warranty left, I would bring it in to a Sprint store and *****.
If not, you can try one of 2 things. 1) flash the NAE tar file using odin to see if that fixes your issues or 2) flash the MK2 tar file to bring you back to 4.3

I went Cyanogen at one point, didn't like it, and flashed back to stock. When the OTA hit I was rooted but had made no changes from stock, not even an uninstall of a Samsung app. I am backing things up now to flash the NAE again, but I want a version without this Knox garbage in it. Is there such thing?
I read that you can't flash back with Odin from 4.4 to 4.3 so I don't know how to do option 2 at this point.

Yeah, I think you are right. Can't go back to 4.3 once you have the 4.4 bootloader, my bad. I wonder if you should do a factory reset to see if that clears up your issues.

But honestly, if you root 4.4, your gonna void KNOX.

You're saying your bootloader went back to MK2 after this? Didn't think that was possible. I've had nothing but stupid little issues myself after using Odin to flash the phone to NAE. I've done factory resets... Completely wiped the phone in Philz. Tried KToonsez kernel as well and stock NAE just sux! I'll probably just flash Liquid Smooth back on it, was only trying to stick with stock NAE for stability and camera , that phone is my girls and she doesn't have the patience for all the bugs that come with custom Roms lol
Anyways just want to confirm that with you. Thanks

I don't know if that is possible for those of us rocking triband. Obviously we cannot use the Mk2 modem or rom. In any event, I upgraded to 4.4.2 on my new L720T and regretted it, but now I'v" managed to install twrp and rooted it and the rom settled down after a few days. At first, horrible battery use but now its amazing. My battery reads 75 percent after 14 hours and that's quite good enough. The only issue I still face is the SD card thing, but that only seems to apply third party software as I can move files directly from internal to external memory using the stock files app that comes with android.
i dont know about triband. i dont have one and im not going to pretend im a smart dev because thats also not true.. i HAVE ODIN 4.4.2 THEN turned around and ODIN 4.3 due to something i didnt like...im not sure if it changes the bootloader or not, i dont even check. i have only tried this with mk2 to nae.. when i purchesed my device it came with mk2 so i have never tinkerd with the other bootloaders. if you have something other then mk2 id ask a dev befor doing anything. like i said it works for me as long as i flash the modem FIRST that corrisponds to the build. ( mk2 or nae )...and in some cases if the wifi is borked on nae, iv had to flash the modem again after instalation of the rom.. i cant explain why any of this happens....

But that's interesting you can go back to mk2 after being on nae. I figured that was not possible. But if you didn't get any fails in Odin while downgrading that's great. Maybe I'll get ballsy and try this later.

HI there,
DOes anyone have a solution for us stuck on MK2?
I have the following problems:
I bought this i337 second hand, and it came with UCUAMK2 firmware.
I rooted it with SAFEROOT (saferoot.zip). That worked fine.
But I cant install LOKI, to get the ClockWorkMod, so I can't install Custom ROMs.
Because when I type in the commands in Android Terminal, to flash loki's CWM recovery, it says :
[+] loki_flash v1.1
[-] Loki aboot version does not match device.
SO i figure, I have to revert back to MDB or MDL firmware.
BUT when I open ODIN, and try to flash the official firmware:
1. I337UCUAMDB_I337ATTAMDB_I337UCUAMDB_HOME.tar.md5
it FAILS in ODIN, so I (try) to flash this:
2.I337UCUAMDL_I337ATTAMDL_I337UCUAMDL_HOME.tar.md5
but that FAILS also!!!!!!!
SO should I install SAFESTRAP?
Some ppl complain, that screws things up, and end up in bootloop, and can't remove this SAFESTRAP...so i dunno if
i should install it.
Does flashing via/using ODIN FAIL==> because my bootloader is LOCKED?
Can you tell me how to Unlock my bootloader????
I need to go back to MDB or MDL, because otherwise I can't unlock the carrier restriction, since I'm on Vodafone,
and not on AT&T!
Plus, I was always installing custom Roms on my S2, S3, and all my other android devices since 2009....sorry to see
that the S4 is
such a headache....
Can you help me out please, seeing how good aof a DEV you are....?
Please and thank you

You will need to use safestrap.
Loki does not work with MK2 because they patched it in the MK2 update.
At this point in time the bootloader cannot be unlocked.
el o el
The s4 is nothing like previous samsung devices...at least on att, the bootloader is locked, safestrap is your only option.
Also keep in mind, att stated about a year ago they will no longer be supporting phones with unlocked bootloaders...so the problem you are experiencing now can be expected on every new att branded phone

There is NO WAY back from mk2. You can flash custom roms ONLY with Safestrap. No CWM no TWRP. Read this guide, it has everything you need to know for the S4. There is nearly 30 custom roms tested & affirmed working. Good luck & happy reading.

SGS4 AT&T i337 on Stock MK2...jeboo kernel/recovery needed to install SHOstock v3.0 ?
I am very familiar with custom roms and your kernels, from always using them on my SGS2 i777 (AT&T), but i just bought an SGS4 i337 AT&T, on MK2 baseband, and everybody suggested I should install the SHOstock v3.0 for the i337 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2305752).
Problem is, I am sooooo confused now, because there is jeboo kernels: (Jeboo_Kernel_i337_v3_0a-i.zip, Jeboo_Kernel_i337_v3_0a.zip, Jeboo_Kernel_i337_v3_0.zip, Jeboo_Kernel_i337_v2_2.zip)
...than there's your RECOVERY: Jeboo_Recovery_v2_1.zip
so Im very confused now how I should go about installing our most awesome DEV shoman94's SHOstock v3.0) ROM...==> THAT I DUNNO WHAT SHOULD I DO ANYMORE.....
1. Because, on the thread there (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2305752), in POST#1 it says , in the Instructions, that :We must be running a custom recovery using Jeboo's Recovery from Post#4 which is your Jeboo_Recovery_v2_1.zip
2. But how should I run the Jeboo_Recovery_v2_1.zip RECOVERY, if Im on SafeStrap 3.71 (which is a recovery also)???
3. If i flash Jeboo_Recovery_v2_1.zip, wont that brick (or softbrick) the S4?
4. Or if I flash Jeboo_Recovery_v2_1.zip, will I end up having 2 recoveries? Or will I only end up with having only the Jeboo_Recovery_v2_1 ???
5. In POST#3, it says that:
IF YOUR PHONE HAS MF3/MK2 BOOTLOADERS, YOU MUST RUN THE MF3/MK2 STOCK KERNEL. DO NOT TRY INSTALLING ANYTHING BELOW UNLESS YOU HAVE MDB/MDL BOOTLOADERS THAT SUPPORT LOKI!!
So, should I NOT flash your Jeboo_Kernel_i337_v2_2.zip , since I am on MK2 stock kernel/baseband/bootloader....?
Check it out: http://i.imgur.com/cNWijKF.png
7. I mean, what is BELOW MF3/MK2 and ABOVE MDB/MDL? Because it also says, that: All binaries posted here will be loki'd (as signified by the .lok extension).
SO, keeping in mind that Im on Stock MK2 , but also Im ROOTED via SAFEROOT.zip (as you can see in the pic above: (http://i.imgur.com/cNWijKF.png) , can someone please tell me if I should flash this SHOstock v3.0, and more speciafically, WHICH, IF ANY of you jeboo kernels and Jeboo Recovery should I use?
Can I bug any of you to tell me the exact steps on how to get this SHOstock 3.0 on my i337, if I'm on MK2, rooted, and safestrap-ed?
ANy help would be much appreciated

You are making it too hard. You need to be on 3.71 Safestrap to flash Sho's 3.0. You must use default (stock) kernel. You can not flash any other kernels period. And no other recoveries. And no 4.4 or aosp roms. I am not on SafeStrap as I have a MDL phone. So, you need to go the SafeStrap thread and read up on flashing a rom on SafeStrap. There are a couple threads on the subject. Read all you can first and make any backup your phone/recovery allows before flashing. Also, do a clean wipe before installing rom. That may be different then a clean wipe on MDL/Custom Recovery, not sure--:good:

Loki does not work with MK2 because they patched it in the MK2 update.
At this point in time the bootloader cannot be unlocked.

Phone came from the Store with MDL, ( I see it on the Original box: SoftWare Ver: UCUAMDL....
The guy I bought it from rooted it, and loki-ed it... how did that OTA come through, I wonder? Once rooted and LOKI-ed...the OTAs shouldn't come through, right?
Sounds like the seller messed up and flashed back to stock. He was probably selling it to cut his losses.

Answer, yes & yes. There is plenty of custom roms for mk2 in the All things mk2 guide. You can also upgrade to 4.4.2 Kit Kat now as well. Forget about MDL cause there's no way to go back to it.

But if he had it LOKI-ed, that means he was just fine on MDL, no need for SafeSTrap, unlocked BL prolly ... he was free to install CM, GPE, AOSP, PACman and all these ROMs....so why flash it back to stock MK2? I mean, cutting his losses....that's funny...I mean, unless the MK2 OTA from AT&T came forced.... WHo knows...
He probably didn't know what he was doing, got stuck, and tried to Odin back to stock. Only he used the mk2 package and not the MDL one.
Stuff like that never surprises me anymore. People don't want to learn/read. Just give me the file so I can flash it.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, bud...just gimme the file so I can flash it -type ... who cares what's that gonna actually do to my phone...Oh well, there are people...and there's people.... U never know who you get to deal with....
Just ask for a little help, ...why is that so hard, right?
I've been reading up on all I could, and now that I "kinda" get a better understanding of how things lay with the i337 MK2...I can make a decision to flash, and stay stock...
Problem is, I have been flashing since 2009, so I can't imagine owning a droid, AND NOT FLASH IT!!! IT KINDA DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF OWNING AN ANDROID, right? hehehe
I know that feeling. At least Safestrap is a decent option. I rushed out to grab my MDL 32gb one before they updated their stock.

Yes, prolly could upgrade to 4.4 , but would be needing to flash the NB1 modem, baseband first right?
ANd ppl are saying there is not much SafeStrap versions for KK 4.4(.2) yet, or am I wrong?
DO you know any ROMz like that?
Would it be possible to come back to JB 4.3, once on KK, that you know of?
