wanna get note 2014 edition , just not sure witch one to get , i've check specs that lte is the best of all , what in real life use ??
Is it really the best ?
Worth the price ?
or should i just get wifi ?
Notice difference than wifi ?
and which one will get more support ? my old tab 2 p5100 (3g) had more support than p5105 (wifi only)
thanks in advance
I got the LTE version because I had a spare SIM card with a free 1 Gb/month data on it and thought "what the heck", but turns out I'm loving the ability to take the tablet everywhere and never having to think of getting Wifi.
Sure, I could use my phone Wifi tethering mode, or use the many public Wifi access points around here (but half of them have issues), but having it "just works" all the time is pretty great.
I just bought the lte version today after some consideration. So far I'm loving it!
After removing Samsung shortcuts from the desktop screens, this thing feels really quick and nice to use. It is not as smooth as my girlfriend's iPad, but it is not bad at all and I have to say I like the Note a lot more than Apple's latest tablet. Web browsing is also smooth especially with Chrome and the display is really good. Sketching is better than the old Note 10.

Most support is difficult to guesstimate. Usually wifi models sell the best but in this case the 4G S800 p605 model is using a more common Snapdragon SoC. It is considerably more expensive though.
If you like power, good screen, multi window and S pen stuff you won't go wrong. You might check up on the future nexus 10 which should be out soon.

I ended up settling on the Wi-Fi only model. B/c I have the free hoptspot on my T-Mobile phone. And I really don't utilize it enough.
Another huge reason why I got this version was because I previously got the original T-Mobile Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 version, and it ticked me off to no end when I kept reading that the WiFi version was getting updates and I was left waiting almost 5 months before T-Mobile "certified" and "allowed" me to update the tablet. And when I did, it was still a version behind.
I was so anxious that I tried flashing the Singapore WiFi ROM on it and came close a many of times bricking it.
So I said never again, and I'm happy with just tethering whenever I need to.
Save the money and go WiFi.
Hope it helps.

Apache0c, torn on whether to buy the P605 or an ounce of palladium since prices are similar (fellow ZH'er joke, gathered from your sig).
Anyway, ordered the P605 from negri (is that where you got yours?) and should probably be here next week. Do you happen to know what region your P605 is from? Did you do all of the automatic OTA updates and then do the de la vega rooting method on your device? Thanks!
I still don't get the big differents between LTE and the other versions except the processor.
Can someone please explain pros and cons regarding the versions available and which version is best for what use upon the other?
Also, can someone please confirm that theyre equipped with Dolby Surround?

Im curious on the Galaxy Tab do you have to have a cell phone contract? or can it be used strictly through wifi access , I dont really need a giant phone , I already have Samsung Focus , but I would like to try out this tablet !
It doesn't look like you live in the US as we could get tablet without contract from various providers. I would imagine it's the same in Canada. You might have to pay higher than the contracted's price.
To verify, the tablet works in both mode: 3G or Wifi.
Your question probably meant to be: Why Samsung doesn't release a Wifi only version so I don't have to pay extra for it? All current NA tablets have both Wifi & 3G and at least in US you do not have to have a cell phone contract to use the device.
Cool , well I was just wondering as I have frequent stays in the US! I was just wondering, because it sounds like the cell companies are the ones selling these devices , I know you can get them at Best Buy, but can I just buy one off the shelf and not be associated with Verizon/tmobile/sprint/att, because that would be a big hit for me, wifi goes along way , I dont really care about 3g , but wifi can use damn near anywhere (free)!
I like the design as well, I also like the fact that the rom can be changed out, I would be curious if ,gingerbread worked on it as well , or even wp7 ? I am on list for the beta Chrome OS tab , wish that would come so I can see how it looks!
Iiwy i would wait. Galaxy2 is comming out soon. Also be careful w which tab u will buy in us as they are carrier specific. Only at&t & tmob tabs are customized friendly (replacable rom)

European 3G version seems to be available in Germany and I'm thinking about ordering one... But I have some question before i order. I understand that the European 3G version comes with Touchwiz, is there a ROM without Touchwiz available for it? I have searched and read all the threads in development section but there is no mention about European 3G version.
Also i haven't seen any posts from European 3G owners. Why is that?

I'm also looking for the same, but for reasons unknown to me there are no custom roms for the P7500, yet. Afaik, you could try to flash a P7510 rom, but you will loose 3g. My best guess is that the 3g roms will come when more users have bought them.

I like Xoom because it's pure Honeycomb, so I'm afraid I'm not going to like Touchwiz (white menus and gray bottom bar). Xoom 3.2 has been ported to Iconia A500, so i'm hoping it will be possible to port it to GT10.1 also...
Hi,
I am looking forward to buy a 3g galaxy tab, do you know if it has microsd slot?
Thank you

Sorry, no SD card slot for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (3G and Wifi), at least not for the model no. GT-P7500 or P7510. There are a few site still advertising the SD card slot but the Tabs are all missing that slot.
hmm the more i read about all those issues, the more i might just get an motorola xoom to have stock android...
1. it's not sure whether the I/O tab will keep getting stock android updates or not
2. i don't know if i will be able to flash stock i/o android on a german 3g galaxy tab
My only problem is that the xoom is just to heavy, especially since im going to read a lot of news/rss feeds on the tab, so having a light tab is very important...
Can anyone who bought the Galaxy Tab in Germany confirm if the language can be changed to English? Those HoneyComb tablets like the Transformer and Iconia i see in Saturn and MediaMarkt only have German.

I'm sorry to say this, but if you want a 3G tabled then don't buy a Xoom. European Xoom's are not GED, so they don't get updates from Google. As far as i know, the European Xoom's still run 3.0.1.
If 3G isn't important to you, then you can buy a WIFI only Xoom and flash US software on it to make it GED.
I need a tablet with 3G connectivity, that's why i ordered a GT10.1

As far as i know, only US Xoom's are Google Experience Devices. It is possible to flash European WIFI only Xoom with official US Xoom software to make it GED. It's not possible with 3G Xoom because of different radios in EU and US versions. But there is a custom 3.2 ROM that reportedly works also on European 3G Xoom's, so thats a option.
About WIFI only GT10.1, as far as i know, even the IO version is not GED. If it was, then it would already have Android 3.2.
I See, so flashing the us Rom on a European xoom with 3g wouldn't work at all?
I wouldn't care if I lose the 3G, but since I can get the 3g version for the price of the regular WiFi only xoom, I might still get the 3G one (so I can sell it for more later).

I'm not sure if it's possible to flash the official US 3G ROM on European 3G Xoom, i believe i have read that it will mess up the radio firmware.
But like i said, there is a custom 3.2 ROM available that works on European 3G Xoom.
Check Xoom development forums. Here it is a little off topic i think.

Noticed this on another site this morning.
I have a 5" streak, and who knows if/when the Samsung Note will hit the states.
Might have to give this one a look. The 4.3" screen looked too small to me, the extra .2" probably won't make much difference, but I'll take another look at it.
I had the Streak too. I want the Note, but its too much for me right now. My Dad is going to get it though....Can't wait to play with his
I already have a SGS II (unlocked UK model) on AT&T's network. So I don't see much point in upgrading to this phone (especially since AT&T's LTE network is still in its infancy). For my next phone I want at least a "retina" type display with LTE... Maybe a SGS III?

I think its gonna be a while before carriers get it. Percieved as too risky because of the size.

The Note is way too big to be used as a phone.

The Skyrocket uses a Qualcomm chip and is directly related to the Celox/Hercules/TSGS2. Unless someone has a burning need for LTE (it's currently available in six cities) or the bigger screen it doesn't seem worth giving up Exynos.

True... For now... At least until manufacturers start making unlocked multi-band LTE devices.
Besides, with LTE not being unlimited, it's kinda pointless at this stage. Let the technology (and rate plans) mature a bit more first.
If you must really have the LTE then I would wait for either Verizon or ATT version. But remember you wont have phone capabilities with the Verizon or ATT version.
I am using ATT Go Phone Prepaid on my 7.7. I am in NY and the data speeds are actually pretty fast. I average about 4-6mbps download speeds. Web pages load very fast. For me its good enough.
Yeah, while LTE speeds are amazing, at present I don't have a whole lot of use for them on a tablet. I suppose one should really determine if they need to use it for video streaming/conferencing where there is no WiFi. Otherwise, 3G suffices for most casual use.
The US could actually do with a bit more oversight and regulation in this area so we could use LTE without having to worry about asinine limitations.

I bought my original Tab from AT&T but didn't buy the subsidized version...
Anyway although I understand it has downsides since the IMEI is in the database of the carrier (Yeah it costed me my unlimited plan last year...) t doesn't create that many problems after a bit of clean-up (I use a derivative of CM7.2 (Boca) and also unlocked the device)
Anyway go for he international if you wish, on my side I would really like to have the IR port (No saying the AT&T version will have it but oping for it). And if you want to enjoy LTE speeds just forget about the international version
Anyway... waiting for more versions to be out worldwide in order to pick the best one for me

I can just about guarantee that the AT&T version will NOT be voice enabled. Read my article linked in the previous posts, and you'll understand why.

Yeah I read that... Bad news indeed if this universally applies. However, I haven't personally experienced any issues apart from being notified that I'm among the top 5% of data users and that I may get throttled blah blah blah. So we'll see...
Just wondering how many users on XDA are using WiFi model versus 3g model. Development for WiFi model seems lacking...I'm wondering if there are less WiFi tablet users than 3g?
I live in Sweden and have the N8000
Well since the US only has WiFi models so far, I'm guessing we're the odd ones who don't have the telephony service devices. Probably the rest of the world has the 3G devices for the most part. That explains the lack of development.

One of the greatest and most unique things about the Note 10.1 is that its 3G model has FULL phone capabilities i.e. it's a 10.1" "SMARTPHONE"!!
It has allowed me to get rid of my secondary smartphone which I used as a backup (in case my primary smartphone gets lost/stolen/broken) and to use my foreign SIM card (I live part of the year abroad so according to which country I am in I switch the local SIM to my primary smartphone and the foreign one to my secondary smartphone to be able to check and reply SMS's from the other country and to manage the bank account and debit/credit cards tied to my Italian SIM card when I am not in Italy).
One of the reasons I got the Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G that I had before the Note 10.1 3G was that it was the only tablet around to offer full message capabilities BUT it lacked the ability to make calls and it lacked the SIM application toolkit (very important to me for home banking since through the SIM menu, as opposed to the home banking app, it works even when I don't have an internet connection available), the Note 10.1 is a FULL FLEDGED "smartphone". I couldn't be happier with it.
I am also getting the Samsung Bluetooth S-Pen to complement it.
If the Note 10.1 had also the Nexus 10's display it would be simply PERFECT as it already has EVERTYTHING I need and works extremely well. It's the most feature packed tablet out there today and I LOVE its SW, its weight (compared to many other "leading" tablets...), audio, battery and the fact that it's back it's NOT made of ****ing metal.
It is using the Note 10.1 that I got the urge to upgrade my OG Note. I planned to skip the Note II but I have seen what a difference 2GB of RAM make and can't wait anymore...
I'm on Portugal and I have the White 3G 16GB Version. And I just love it.
I'm in the US and I bought the n8000 from Amazon. I'm on Att as well with no issues. Best tablet I've ever owned.

I have an N8000 with 3G. I would never buy a tablet without 3G/4G connection. Not because I need it as a phone - although it is extremely useful at times - but because I don't spend all my time at home and in wifi equipped coffee shops! The reason that I have a tablet at all is for a whole raft of connected requirements - internet and direct connections, when I am out and about. Some days I will be the whole day without a wifi connection. I use my PCs much more than my tablet when I am at home - I can type this much faster on my PC than my note!. I can use the N8000 in my car (a lot), out in the street and in loads of places that don't have wifi. In my car I have the screen now set up with 3 windows - Google Maps SatNav, Hands-free Phone and Poweramp, my music player. All windows active and accessible using the Multi-Window App in 4.1.2. I need 3G for SatNav and Phone otherwise I'd just have a music player!
I use the NetCounter App to keep track of my usage and I just checked the last three months since I had my Note. I used 62 percent on WiFi and 38 percent on Cell - but during that time I downloaded three big flash images of well over 1g each to do upgrades to JB and these were on WiFi. All other big downloads I do via my PCs. Even at home when I sit down in my garden I am out of range of my WiFi - even though I have a relay range extender.
People say why not just tether my tablet to my phone and use that for cell connection but none of the five carrier ISPs that I use in South Africa, the UK and the US, allow any level of tethering on their data accounts. And much of the time I only need to carry one device.
So loads of benefits (for me) of a virtually continuous data connection.

I'm in the US, bought my grey, 16GB from Amazon and also on AT&T. I've had no issue with it except missing JB..
Since I travel, having the ability to have mobile data on the tablet is a nice option and often faster than the wifi options in some of the places I go.
Buy 8013 model because in Ukraine it cheaper than 8010
