[Q] How to remove VIPER4ANDROID FX icon - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dislike the icon in my notification panel. Any ideas?

Go to Settings-->Application manager
In the 'Downloaded' tab, scroll down to the Viper app. Click it. Should bring it up as in the picture attached. Make sure the "show notifications" check box is UN-checked.
VoilĂ !

Bless you Carl!! Love the app, hate the icon!! As many times as I've looked at App Info for many, many different apps, I never noticed that check box!! :good:

Changing default launcher buttons

Lets say I wanna change the icon shortcut link to Handcent instead of the default Messanger, theres gotta be a way to change it. Hopefully without rooting.
No way to change them. This feature and app menu options where removed from the epic.

I'd call that a workaround rather than a solution: I'm hoping for a solution via root or some other hack. Maybe it'll be as simple as editing a text file?
Quoted from the thread you said didn't have the solution. This might work for the other buttons as well, if you clear the defaults in said applications. That is done under the Settings > Applications, find the app and hit the "Clear Defaults" button.
Just download Handcent. When you hit the messaging icon at the bottom it will ask you if you want to use the stock app or Handcent (then you can check - remember this choice). Now whenever you hit the SMS icon (it will still appear to be the same...). It will open Handcent.

I'd call that a solution if it also changes the launcher icons to whatever application you're setting as the default. Does it work that way?

The 'Default Messenger' is not listed under Manage Applications, there is one for Handcent but that only makes it the default if you go through your contacts and select the 'text' option.
Otherwise it doesn't change the default launcher icon to open handcent and it doesn't change the logo.
Thats the one thing that is crappy with sprint is how they default their stuff and hard lock you in on it, same with the market place. They must have 3 different versions of the 'Sprint Marketplace' that has the same stuff as regular market place.
They also changed the Downloads section you click in Market to the name of 'Sprint', its like "wtf are they thinking" and it just lists a couple of average free apps under it that are already available.
This is stuff that I hope can be changed without rooting in the future, but it looks like the roms might be the saviour of this phone. SCHEIZA!!!!
It's "sprint's recommended" downloads. Yes, it's annoying, but it's better than locking you out of a ton of apps like other companies.

[Q] Removing recommended shortcuts from drop down menu

Is it possible to remove the recommended earphone shortcuts that appear in the drop down notification when headphone are connected?

I would like to know the same thing. On my S2 (JB4.1) there is a menu option to disable this (System / Accessory / Audio Applications). They seem to have removed this option on the S4 - it's not on the Accessory options screen...
Could someone explain to me what the "recommended shortcuts (earphones)" actually is and where can I configure it? I like the idea, yet I'd like to configure it.
But I can't seem to find a setting or app. Is it really connected to a "Page buddy" app? I have no such app on my SGS4.

when you plug in earphones to ur galaxy u get a set of recommanded apps to run in the status bar i have it on my galaxy s2 but on my s3 can't find it
OK, I've worked out how to disable this.
The notification comes from com.android.pagebuddynotisvc, which is called PageBuddyNotiSvc in the application manager ('All' tab). You can disable this service, and the notification + shortcut icons in the dropdown menu will now not appear.
Thanks pennas, I also noticed the "PageBuddy" app meanwhile, should've looked more carefully in the first place.
It's not that annoying to me, but I just still don't understand what the benefit is, when I can't configure it. Because the apps showing also seem to change. Meh.

Any help if you go to: Settings -->General --> Applications --> Choose an app --> uncheck "Show Notifications"
ps. Not exactly sure did I give correct names to menu, as my phone language is not english.
pss. You should get there also if you drop notification bar down and long press the notification --> It give something like App Info --> then uncheck "Show Notifications"

For some reason this does not persist after a reboot. Is this by design, or is it a bug? The toggle is switched off after a reboot, but the notifications are there anyways.
Root> go to es file explorer> delete or rename knox> reboot.
This is how I made it work on note 2.

It acts same way in my phone, so it looks like a bug, but it doesn't matter for me as I don't boot my phone so often it could get annoying..
If I need to re-check them once or twise a week, no big deal
Anyway I hope Samsung will fix it
Yep, it reverts after a reset.
An apology for bumping a thread older than my nephew, but has anyone found a non root method for 7.0 n. ??

Earphones notification menu

This may be obvious to most, but it's been bugging me for a week! The default "Earphones" menu that appears when headphones are plugged in contains shortcuts to apps I never use. To edit: From the notification panel, tap the icon in the top right next to the gear. Tap Recommended apps. Tap Edit. Uncheck the junk and add useful shortcuts...

How do I UNHIDE an app????

I was having trouble with an app (Android Auto) so I disabled it, which I shouldn't have, because it hid the app on my screen. As a result, the app no longer functions with my car.
Can somebody please tell me how to UNHIDE the app? I have watched 20 YouTube videos on how to unhide apps, unfortunately, they all show things that I do not have on my version of Android 10.
Thank you!

Should be pretty simple and standard... I am assuming you are running stock A10 - if not, the names of the options in Settings may be a bit different, but the idea is still the same. Go to Settings -> Apps & notifications -> App Info. Above the app list there is a dropdown - make sure "ALL APPS" is selected, so both enabled and disabled apps are listed. You should see the Android Auto on the list below, marked as "Disabled". Tap on it - it will open the app details, then hit "Enable". That's all.

Thanks, but I did all of that! I see Android Auto on the list, but it is not marked as "Disabled." When I click on it, it appears as Enabled in the app details.
However, that's not the problem. The problem is that the app is hidden from my Home Screen. So, in order for me to access it, I have to go into the Settings, etc., etc.
Is there a way to UNHIDE the app so it appears on my Home Screen? Thanks.
PS: I am running stock Android 10.

This is now normal behavior for android auto, the app is hidden and will only show in your car when you connect to your car (as far as I know there is no way to use it on your phone like the older versions), even if you add a shortcut to homescreen it will only allow access to the settings screen (I assume).
If it's not working with your car, go to settings>apps>android auto>storage> and then clear storage to reset everything. While there check it has all permissions granted.
If you want to use AA on your phone maybe consider sideloading an old version (from a reputable store like F-Droid) which still worked from the handset.
