Any help if you go to: Settings -->General --> Applications --> Choose an app --> uncheck "Show Notifications"
ps. Not exactly sure did I give correct names to menu, as my phone language is not english.
pss. You should get there also if you drop notification bar down and long press the notification --> It give something like App Info --> then uncheck "Show Notifications"

For some reason this does not persist after a reboot. Is this by design, or is it a bug? The toggle is switched off after a reboot, but the notifications are there anyways.
Root> go to es file explorer> delete or rename knox> reboot.
This is how I made it work on note 2.

It acts same way in my phone, so it looks like a bug, but it doesn't matter for me as I don't boot my phone so often it could get annoying..
If I need to re-check them once or twise a week, no big deal
Anyway I hope Samsung will fix it
Yep, it reverts after a reset.
An apology for bumping a thread older than my nephew, but has anyone found a non root method for 7.0 n. ??

Before anyone asks, yes I did search this topic on the forums Is there any way to disable the action of double tapping the home button?
it's in application settings, and at the bottom of the list there is none, also:
wrong fourm, go to q & a.

Oh, I'm sorry. If you have ti backup, try making the double tap home point to something you dont use like news, then freeze that app in ti.
Someone posted a way to make double tap home do anything you want by editting build.prop. Maybe you can tweak that to get it to do nothing.
Piece of cake!
How to do this, on froyo.
1) Download SQLite editor free from market.
2) Open it, and scroll down to the Storage Settings(the last one with: com.motorola.android.providers.settings) -> settings.db -> settings
4) Scroll down to double_tap(3rd from the end), edit record and change the value to empty!
100% tested/working!
In my HD2 when I try to fix my Home Layout/Main Home/Notification Bar, the SMS icon indicates message reception; but when I tap on it, it does not bring up the relevant message but opens the item "Word Mobile" ??
Any advice ???
I don't know what the heck word mobile is, but I know that you can go to Settings > Applications > Manage Apps> All > "Word Mobile" > Scroll down and "Clear Defaults" .. Next time when that icon appears and you hit it, choose messaging .
Thanks; it worked.
However I could not find Manage Apps, through your way but through the utility "CHT Editor"
In any case problem solved. Thanks again.
lol this thread is funny...
the OP was talking about WM6.5 and the only person to answer assumed the question was about Android

lol, yeah I just realized my fault.
And I still don't know how it worked for him .. WinMo doesn't even have "Default" apps
I truly love my S4 but this is driving me insane.
When receiving a message instead of telling me who it's from and an idea of what the message is... I get this:
Edit: Apparently I can't post an image of the issue until after 10 posts. In any case, my notification, both on the lock screen and on the notification bar, say Messaging, and underneath says New Message. Normally, or at least with my S3, it would show who the text message is from, and then a small preview of what the message says.
Has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix? I am trying to stay away from rooting my phone, for now. I am using Nova Launcher Prime but I don't see why this would effect anything. A reboot has done nothing so far.
In message app enter menu and after, settings thhan tick the last option before signature, in italian "anteprima messaggio"

Thanks. For some reason I didn't think to go into the settings of the actual messaging screen. I was able to put a check mark beside "Preview Message" and that has solved my issue. Thanks Again!

I guess Samsung left it off to keep the privacy of unexperienced users on Android that have no idea how to change settings by themselves.

I'm almost definitely sure mine was on by default as I turned it off. It showed the message on the lock screen too.
Is there any way to remove the "recommended apps" notification that pops up when you plug in headphones, with or without root?
Settings -> Application manager -> swipe right to "All" tab.
Scroll down to PageBuddyNotiSvc....click it...Turn off.
This will turn off all of those recommended apps. Not just when plugging in headphones.
There's another way to disable each one, but requires a Nova launcher from the market. If you use that, let me know. I can post that way too.
I would like to know please.
Thanks

I was looking for a way, then realised you can use Xposed Framework to do it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-installer-versions-changelog-t2714053/post24267797
Install from the link above, then install Wanam Xposed, there is a option under Sound to disable it.
Hope that helps.
I've searched many forums and no one seems to have the settings I have with my Galaxy Note 3 running 5.0. I don't know why Verizon hasn't updated this model to 5.1.... but, I don't have "Pagebuddy", mine is actually called "Recommended Apps". I can see the process running. I can Force Stop it. But it comes back. And there's no setting that I can find in all of the android settings to turn it off. So am I crazy, or does this particular setup have no way to shut off this notification?
(and I can't root because it's a company phone)
SM-N900V.07
Android 5.0
Kernel 3.4.0
Build LRX21V.N900VVRUEOF1
Config B13.SAM.SMN900V.0
*** EDIT ***
Found it!! It wasn't under "Sound and Notification" as expected. It was in the "Display" settings. Then in "Notification panel", it's called "Related Apps". Turning that off gets rid of the notification for earphones.
Hope it helps someone...
I'm frustrated!
I want to edit the order of my "Quick Settings" in the Notification bar, but there is no icon (the pencil icon on the right side up) where it should be!
Also, when I press the "Options" button (the three squares) in the Settings page, most option are missing!
The only one that appears is 'List view' (to a total of 2 views - 'Grid view' and 'List view'), whereas the third view, the 'Edit quick settings' and the 'Help' options are missing!
I've got pictures to prove my point and help you see my problem but, unfortuately I can't post them here.
What is wrong? Is it because of the edition of the phone?

Depending on the device model and also the firmware version, there are some variation of the Settings menu. So I cannot realize what is your Settings menu structure.
You can open the S Finder and enter 'notification panel' to search.

Same thing happens. I sadly think it is because of the firmware, as you say, and there is nothing I can do about it.
Thanks for your reply, though!

What does that mean? Did you find this menu using S Finder?
If you cannot find this settings, here is another way:
Install Shortcut Master app, open Menu > Search > enter 'notificationpanelsetting' to search. Finally tap on the search result to open this settings.

Yes and, again, the notification panel had no pencil on the uppermost right corner. :/

I had high hopes for this (on my search on the Net, I found no solution like this) but, alas, the search came back with 0 results. Searched both 'notificationpanelsetting' and 'notificationpanelsettings', and 0 results for 'notificationpanel' as well!
edit:
Oooh! That's why I thought I recognised the name of the app creator - it was you! Nice job, btw!
Sorry, I have searched on my Note 3, not S5.
However the function may be missing because of different firmwares.
You can bypass this problem by flashing another firmware.
