So I am pretty much new to android, first android was the N1 then i Switched to Windows Phone and now back on android. What is the best RSS Reader and what sites should I have linked to the reader?
I like reading world news, economics, finance, anything involving science/astronomy and technology.
Thanks.

What are you so burned about? And there's also Press, gReader, Digg's RSS Reader (I think, no idea what happened to it) and a whole bunch of others....
Press here. Feedly is good but I personally find it too busy.
Feedly to handle my subscriptions and Press to read them. Flyne looks interesting though.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I keep coming back to Taptu. It's not the slickest or fastest, but I love the interface once set up.
Flyne is very polished, but lacking in some customisation options at the moment.
gReader and Reader+ are worth a look (the latter I use on my tab) and both have tons of options and are similar to Press. Paperboy is also worth a look.
I use Feedly on my desktop and I think you can sign into all of the above (bar Taptu) with your Feedly account.
I vote for Press.
One of the best designed apps. Its the app I actually miss the most when I use iOS devices.
IMHO the best combo for replicating Google Reader on Android these days is gReader Pro which has an awesome Google Reader style scrolling widget (which can also display pictures), fed by Feedly.
I have my install setup so that when I tap on an article in the widget it brings me to the 2nd/3rd attached screenshot, some feeds will show an article summary, others will show the full article, at this point I can tap the article title, web button or link button to read the article in the built in browser or double tap to load the article into an external browser, the configuration options are endless.
Edit: Added a few more screenshots which show app and feed/web views. I rarely open the app directly, generally I just interact with the widget, after you load an article in feed or web view you can then swipe between the articles from there. Themes include light, dark, black and sepia.
News 24 is also pretty cool.
I'm still p*ssed at Google for canning what was a perfectly functional RSS reader. Their iPhone interface was clean, fast, and the interface I used on my iPhone, iPad, and my desktop, then on my Nexus 4. I was lured to gReader and even registered it... Two days before Google announced they were canning Google Reader.
I didn't know that gReader would connect to Feedly... Does that work just like it used to when it connected to Google Reader? ie. Read articles are synced back to the cloud? I read news on my desktop, iPad, and Nexus 5, and don't want to have to re-read things if I switch platforms.

I've tried pretty much all the readers out there and gReader is the only one I've found that comes close to and has surpassed Google Reader, not as fancy as some but way more functional for reading.
I think the setting you're looking for is: Settings/Synchronization/2-WAY SYNC (BETA) Server Reads: Sync read articles from server to app
Edit: gReader is in steady development these days, beta apk are located here: https://github.com/noinnion/greader/tree/master/beta

A sneak peek at the next version of Android Market and Music app
Posted Apr 5th 2011 6:00AM by Sebastian Anthony
In what is probably a bit of a big-G whoopsie, the folks at Tech From 10 woke up to find a new, test version of Android Market installed on their Galaxy S.
Visually, the new version is almost identical. The carousel of featured apps has been updated slightly, and apps now have a 'Content rating,' but that's it (image after the break). The interesting bit, however, is the inclusion of alpha and beta apps -- most notably, there's a new version of the Music app, which looks like a scaled-down version of the Android 3.0 Honeycomb Music app (see right).
Also available from the test Android Market is 'Google Gallery 3D New 10.2', 'Google - Camera v12' and 'Google Desk Clock 10' -- but, curiously, all of the apps refused to launch on Tech From 10's Galaxy S (Vibrant) smartphone. Are they Honeycomb apps? Or, more likely, are they destined for the next Android smartphone OS, Ice Cream?
If you want to try out the new Honeycombish Music app, Tech From 10 has made the APK available for download. You can also download the three Google apps, if you want to have a poke around.
Link here: http://i.downloadsquad.switched.com...next-version-of-android-market-and-music-app/
The link seems to be down, but I posted the music app.
Maybe the devs can tweak and add these in...

It is setup for google music cloud, so that you can stream. the cloud is not setup as of yet.
Are you able to upload music to the Google cloud and stream it? If so, can you tell if it uses up your gmail/picasa available space? I paid for extra storage for picasa and I assume the music service would share from the same space.
Thanks.

If it's a Google cloud music service, it would need access to your account for syncing, etc.
If its for the gallery it has to do with permissions dealing with your Picasa albums.

I have only installed the music app. Since then I have had some weird things happen on my phone. The YouTube login started to fail several times even though I didn't open YouTube. The phone locked up and needed a battery pull. 2 pictures I took never saved. Up until now i haven't had a single issue with this phone and that is the only thing I have installed recently. Might just be a strange coincidence...

Find the folders involved, and put a file named ".nomedia" in them. Then download "Rescan Media" (or other app) from the play store, or clear data for the gallery and let it rescan.
Should clean it up.

They seem to be connected to one of your accounts. I'm not sure why they did this but lets say if you sign in to facebook, or dropbox, all your pictures from those accounts will show up in your gallery. Its stupid and it does make the phone lag when opening the gallery app

Hi
I have an issue not specific with the 6p, I see the same issue with my Nexus5
I use Google Drive on Android to upload photos and videos and other files.
After many months of usage, the Google Drive app size is taking a few gigs and I don't understand why??
I don't use offline files on Drive, and If I clear the cache in the app setting, it doesn't help.
So the only solution I got is to clear all the app data after a few months . Do you understand why?
Is it that Drive is keeping a local backup in the app of every files I upload from the phone?
Thanks

Try that for one of your files (a bigger file probably, >50 MB) in the Drive, and check if the storage spaces consumes more data. It will confirm the situation.

Now when you look into Google Drive, and open the menu of a file. You will see two different options there, Download or Make available offline.
The difference between the two is - 'Download' option allows you save the file to your storage, and you can browse/open/modify it from other third-party apps too, besides just Google Drive itself. On the contrary - 'Make available offline' option, does the same thing, but it saves the file under the app itself, and it could only be accessed within Google Drive.
So, for the latter the file is saved under the Google Drive app, which in turn shows the increase in storage space. If you use the Download option, the app storage wouldn't be affected at all.
