CF Autoroot (Chainfire) supports 4.3 i9500 as far as I am aware:good:
CF seems to be the best bet.

[Q] Running 4.2.2 AMF3 rooted, Would like to update to 4.4.2. What are my options?

Just figured out how to unroot 4.2.2 by updating to 4.3 MK2.
I am interested in updating to 4.4.2. I understand that I won't be able to root once i update OTA.
how else can I update to 4.4.2 once I root. I think I would like to root 4.3 first.

If you want to update to 4.4.2, then you must be on stock firmware with no root. You will be stuck with all the bloatware from Samsung & carrier until a root exploit is realized. Check the mk2 all in one guide. It has everything you need to do this. Good luck & remember to thank the op in the threads!

You can't downgrade
Cf root will trip Knox
Vega won't trip Knox

Thanks for your answer. I will try to root with de la vega method.
As you told me I can not downgrade. In this case. If I flash with
custom rom JB version. What will going on.

Baseband : N9005XXUENA2
Build number : KOT49H.N9005XXUENA6
This is my device detail. If I root with De la vega method and
using odin flash tool flash N9005XXUDMJ7 rom pack.
May it possible or not. I no need to use Kitkat because
my app and game not support Kitkat.
Thank you for answer.

You're already on Kit Kat. Just root with cf auto root if you really need to use root. No knox friendly to root kit kat

Dont do this.. itll brick your device until you flash a stock kitkat firmware onto it again.
MJ7 is a JB firmware.

You can't go from Kitkat back to Jellybean.
Any thing you do to root it will trigger Knox.

as mentioned by ultramag69,
unfortunately the upgrade of the Android O/S since 4.3 and above is irreversible (one way ticket), due to sammy is keeping on developing its bootloader.
Not only saying 4.3 to 4.4. Even the same version of 4.3 got few bootloader patches, and the same 4.4 also have few bootloader patches. This bootloader things make the upgrade irreversible. Downgrading can cause you to bootloop (soft brick), & KNOX trip.
and there's no KNOX friendly root method for the newer bootloader 4.3 and above. If you need root, you will have to bear with the KNOX trip. If you want to keep the KNOX, don't root, and just use your device as per normal usage.
Cheers.

Rooted AT&T 4.3 MK2 upgrading to 4.4.2 (and root)?

Hi,
I read the news that 4.4.2 is out. Is it really out?
I have stock ROM rooted using vroot. I've disabled the updates so it's still on 4.3 MK2.
Is there a safe process to upgrade to the latest 4.4.2? Any way to keep root or re-root?
Thanks

There is no root for 4.2.2, nb1. There is a tar file that can be used in Odin. There is also a work around so you can run a 4.4.2 rooted rom. See the general forum

[Q] How to root S4 on Android 5.0.1?

If it's a real i9505, use CF Auto Root. Otherwise, if it's one of the many devices showing up with an i9505 ROM but i337 bootloader, you'll have to downgrade to 4.4 and use the keeproot method. Go in to download mode and it should tell you the real model.
