Hello.
I flashed on my Nexus 4 Android 4.4 Kitkat with Google factory images.
This version sucks.
Battery lame, no new launcher (until I downloaded Nexus 5 launcher but not the icons are blurrish).
How can I return to 4.3?

1) You need more battery cycles to get a real feel for the battery
2) Nova launcher beta has all the new launchers features without GNow, so you can make the icons smaller and less blurry
But if you really want 4.3 again, just flash the 4.3 factory images

Hey N4 users, how many of you are satisfied with stock 4.3?
I used to flash ROMs but I typically just stay on stock 4.3 now. I use a quick settings mod to add more tiles and an extended power menu mod to get reboot options. Other than that stock is all I need.

Flashed many roms ,tried about 6-7 roms and I realized that stock is good enough for me. I'm using battery % mod + advanced reboot ,it's enough.
I really enjoy with 4.3 stock rom.
Never was.

Honestly, not a fan of the Nav bars, so no Stock for me. I feel that they take up more space than they should. I ♥ extra screen space.

I use an app called fullscreen, and stock rom is fine after a few personalisation tweaks (playing with MUIU theme icons currently). Oh yeah..Pie Control App, Power Toggles, etc...apps really can extend usefulness like roms do, just have to hunt for them.
I need the long press navbar action, and better toggles.
Instead of flashing different mod a custom Rom is much easier.
Not for me. I like the extras, changes under the hood, ect the custom ROMs bring.

Yes. I've run stock on my phones since the Galaxy Nexus was released. I don't have the desire to do the custom ROM song and dance when stock does everything I want it to do.

I'm very satisfied with stock! The only issue is I wish with the default launcher you could change the pages, that's my only complaint... I wish I didn't have to use apex on top of default...

Generally speaking I would say yes, stock is great, but there are aspects to using something like Paranoid Android (lubz me some PIE) as well as CyanogenMod (volume rockers to change songs is something I simply cannot live without these days), so generally I will use a device for a period of time when it's new to my ownership stock, then do the research and find a custom ROM to try out, then another if needed, then tweaks (custom kernels, undervolting, etc).
Same old same old as everyone else for the most part I suppose.
i had mine for 9 months before i decided to try a custom ROM...
The nexus 4 is the only android phone I've owned and kept as stock which is kind of ironic.

I completely agree. My previous phone was a SGS2 and I flashed a new ROM the day I got mine. My N4 however I have decided to keep stock since 4.3 was released and so far I have been pleased.

Custom ROMs are significantly and noticeably faster and more responsive. Besides on stock lte is broken...

after i unwrapped it, my phone was stock long enough to download a custom rom. kinda like when you first installed windows and you use IE long enough to download chrome or firefox. same idea
I'm on stock right now

On stock ROM now and while I do miss the volume rocker buttons and expanded lockscreen on custom roms, I am also happy without it.
I've been waiting for CM 10.2 Stable...so I guess that answers that.
Stock... No need for custom Roms anymore. Hell even the stock kernel is good now.

Anyone has a good Android 4.4 KitKat wallpaper that fit in Nexus 4 using stock launcher?
There is one good here:
http://androidspin.com/2013/10/13/download-get-android-4-4-kit-kat-wallpaper-phone-now/
But, that is portrait and it is cropped in stock launcher.

Install Nova Beta.
Exactly the same only thing is that the bars are transparant.

bump
Yeah, I thought it was a stupid move on Google's part to exclude this feature from the Nexus 4 as well as others.
If you are running Android 4.4 KitKat on your Nexus 4 go to this website, follow instructions. It should be pretty straight forward

Those launchers (including nexus 5 launcher) make header and footer transparent only on home screen and applications list screen. Black bars are most annoying when you're reading messages or documents, surfing internet, etc.. I really don't care about home screen. Is there any better way to get rid of this?
No, and that's how it is on the Nexus 5 as well.
Hi guys,
I had the Nexus 4 with Android 4.3 and when someone extracted some apps from Nexus 5 I installed them, also the new launcher.
After I got my OTA update from Google to android 4.4 I had two launchers on my phone.
Finally I got my Nexus 5 and I put Google factory image on my nexus 4.
Is it right that android 4.4 for nexus 4 doesn't have the same launcher as nexus 5 (Home screen is still the screen in the middle, not the almost left, empty screens are still shown...)?

nope not the same launcher...you need to install it manually if you want it...if you root your phone and install a rom then with gapps you alrready get it but if you are not rooted then just either sideload it or just install like a normal apk
Ok, thanks

Old launcher on lollipop image?? This launcher isn't from lollipop
(Oficial lollipop image).
I installed apex.
Nav bar, status bar and app drawer are transparent
I had the same thing. Install the Google Now Launcher from the play store.

So what? Google already published the Lollipop launcher on the Play Store.
It's Google Now Launcher.
Yeah, but it doesn't make any sense, why the 2012 version is the one with the jb launcher? It's stupid...

For me it does. Im running Google Now.
Try to reboot och re-flash the image.
Also, where is the gallery ?
Gallery is replaced by Photos.
Last night I wanted to watch something on my N7 and it asked me which Player I prefer.
ES Media Player, VLC or Photos (?!).
Well, opening with Photos, played also the movie
Cheers

Did you try to launch the Photos app?
google now launcher makes my n7 very laggy. that's probably why it's not included in the factory image.

Now launcher is smooth on my nexus 7.
After installing it delete launcher and other apps in system folder. Solves a lot of issues freeing up 160mb of system space compared to 11mb free.

have you guys noticed that with the new google now launcher, if you try to change wallpaper long-pressing on the screen it shows the old kitkat wallpaper list instead of the new material light ones?
and if you go to setting - display - background there's a "doubled" wallpaper list?
