I currently own a ATT S4, it's rooted with Wanam Xposed Framework, Nova launcher, Stock Nexus messaging app, etc... And I must admit I really like this phone a lot, after having an Nexus 4, and Galaxy Nexus before that. The battery life on this S4 is freaking amazing, easily 50% better than my Nexus 4. I get 5h -5.5h On Screen time every day, and I really like the 1080p screen, very beautiful. And this phone is plenty fast for me, no lag with Nova set to "Faster than Light"
TouchWiz is pretty much hidden away with all the other .apk's I have installed. But the one thing I HATE on TW is specifically the Dialer and Contacts. Swiping to make a phone call is ****ing stupid, and not being able to swipe from the contacts to the phone dialer is another mistake.
And pressing the Phone app, or the Contacts app, are the only two apps, that have a slight pause or delay, not really lag, just a pause till it opens up. No other app does that, everything else opens up in a blink of an eye.
But other than that, I do like TW, and the other cool features it has, and I use. But would love to find a stock Nexus Dialer and Contact .apk, but not sure those would ever work on a TW phone ? And I can't flash any zips, due to being on MF3 firmware I can only do .apk's with Root Explorer. Is there something similar to the stock Nexus dialer/contacts on the Play Store ? And something that is not laggy or worse than even the stock TW ? Some of the Play Store might look like a stock Nexus app, but are actually slower, and worse.
I found this app on the Play Store, and it seems very much like a stock nexus dialer, pretty quick, and light
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dexetra.dialer&hl=en
Checked my Greenify settings, this 'dialapp' is running big time in the background, with lots of wake times. Looks I need to delete it now. Dang, can't I just install the stock Nexus dialer from an older 4.2.2 build, and delete the Samsung TW dialer ?

Try exdialer and contacts that's what I use and love it. You can change the interface to make it look like how you want. Try it out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer

I tried both apps, Dialerapp and ExDialer, and they were good, but still have TouchWiz running behind them, when pressing to hang up, it shows the TW interface there, or some other areas still show TW. I thought these apps would erase and get rid of TW 100%, guess not.
I suppose I could try to delete all Samsung Phone / Dialer .apk in /system with Root Explorer ? Would love to be able to push a 4.2.2 based CM10.1 phone.apk, but I think that might screw things up ?

Find a guide to try flashing the zip. I think either you would have to change the script of your device and edit it or flash the zip via safestrap. I usually look into the international theme forum they have a bunch of great ports that work for our phone also.

was there any solution????
So I am posting this here because my username is too new and I can not place this on the correct forums.
I downloaded the HellKat ROM [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/rom-official-4-4-2-hellkat-mako-t2606098 ] The ROM is working just fine, except for one miner thing.
and I did mess with the DPI settings in the interface a bit, just to fit more items on my screens. When I change the wallpaper to one from Gallery, or the built in ones, the paper saves as super zoomed, and way far to the left. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this? Can I use the app settings app? and change the android wallpaper cropper DPI settings? I am left confused.
I came from a 4.2 Jelly Beer build, and it was not like that. I am sure there is a easy fix for this, This ROM is my new daily rider, although I have not updated it due to others experiencing issues with later builds.
I thank you for your help, and for taking the time to read this post. If there is any way to have this moved to the correct thread, it would be greatly appreciated. I would like to make sure the correct dev reads in to this.

My solution was to install Holo Launcher HD. It may or may not work for you. In conjunction with that, I use Quickpic to set the wallpaper.

If you have the zoom fix settings then it will solve the problem. This is what keeps me from using any other launcher.

I do not have that setting, maybe this is just something I have to deal with until the creator fixes it...

Hey all,
I just recently changed the LCD density of my note 4 to 500.
All of the apps seem to work flawlessly apart from the camera app. For some reason when in full screen it doesn't stretch to fit the screen but end up with black bars around two edges. It seems like a scaling issue. Is there a way to fix this?
Cheers,
kipp
I hope you are in 5.0.1 , If so you can flash this wwwandroidfilehostcom/?fid=95916177934555233 to get the dialer and the touchwiz camera to work flawlessly . The improper scaling happens because the lazy samsung devs not only deliver buggy slow ass Touchwiz as well as non Multi DPI compatible apps .
Thanks Aukhan for the flasahble zips

Is there any fix for 5.1.1?
Do you try xposed module "app settings"? You can change DPI per app
I dont think Xposed works for Touchwiz 5.1.1 and If so i highly doubt App settings module's compatibility

Hey guys! Yesterday I installed CheloZTeam ROM because Cloudy's ROM in DPI below 400 stopped launching Phone, SMS, Clock, etc. I tried "App Settings", but everythings working until some event, like Clock is working great until rings alarm clock, SMS are working until someone writes to me, Phone is working until someone is calling me and etc. So I went to CheloZTeam, but i want to go below 380 and there are the same problems. Maybe someone have fix for "App Settings" or some other app like that? Or maybe it's possible to make app DPI compability myself ? I know that there are 3rd party apps, but I like stock ones. I have read countles threads but I found nothing.
Hope for your help guys! Thank you!
Anyone?
Hi,
I've changed the DPI of my A7 from 640 (stock) to 560 via adb:
Code:
adb shell wm density 560
Unfortunatelly many Apps have problems now and show display errors, e. g. too big icons, etc.
Anyone know, how I can fix this?
Thank you!
- PsP
Try 544. it corrected the keyboard and notification bell but my phone app is still off. I also found that editing the build.prop was a better way to change DPI if you're rooted.
Thank you, but I have no problems with the notification bell (lockscreen) or the keyboard (I use Google keyboard app). Also the dialer works well (I use the Truecaller app but also stock looks fine).
I also do not want to root my A7 because I want it as stock as possible ... :/ I know, the build.prop would be the "better" way. But with the stock 640 dpi everything is so big ... :/
The most problems have third party apps like tinder (crashes) or Google allo (the profile picture in the top right corner if I open a chat is too big)
I'm using 510.
I've installed the google keyboard as the ZTE does not support it.

are you with TWRP + Rooted?
you can install Xposed and used Setting Apps Module allow you to change DPI per App which is one of the reason why i have xposed in any past device of mine.
I actually just changed my dpi to 560 and everything looks so much better! No errors, no goofy sized icons, everything seems to work.

I believe the native screen density is 538, no clue why they change it from there.

What isn't working with the notification bell? I'm on 560 DPI and have no problems with it - just with 3rd party apps like e. g. Google Allo, as i mentioned...

Your right, notification bell works great. Somebody mentioned earlier on the thread that it didn't work with 560 and I didn't have any notifications to test so I assumed they were correct. I've since gotten notifications and the bell works fine. Really enjoying 560!
Set it back to stock now because also apps like Snapchat or Instagram had problems with 560 dpi via adb shell wm ...
