Are you sure you have Knox? Check in download mode for any reference to Knox first.....If you do there will be a KNOX WARRANTY VOID:0x0 reference
AFAIK there is no way of rooting without tripping the Knox counter.
If you still wish to root check here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292615
Rooting has nothing to do with the baseband but your phone model does

I am not all that familiar with the i9500.....But it does not appear that you have a knox enabled bootloader. I am not sure what it would look like on the i9500.
Have you rooted your phone yet?

KNOX FREE pre-rooted stock firmware

What does Knox Free mean in pre-rooted firmwares when they also say:
Attention Your KNOX WARRANTY VOID will be set to 0x1!! Think TWICE before flashing!!! ?
It means the built in knox software is removed from the rom.
But it will still void your warranty upon flashing.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 4
So why they don't keep Knox software if warranty will be void any way?
It means

that the App Knox and all related stuff will be removed from the rom. But KNOX has also an efuse (or most people think it is an efuse), which means if it detects a change of the bootloader and the flag goes from 0x0 to 0x1 (which you can see in the recovery mode) in which case you voit the warrant.
At the moment there is no known way to reset this.
So why don't keep Knox software?

Its not the app or software within the rom that triggers the flag, its the change in the bootloader which has to be done in order to root your device. So whether you keep the apps or not, when you root, its over. Im not even sure if knox (the app) can be used after the flag is triggered

Knox warranty status is different to knox software in the rom.
The warranty status changes from 0x0 to 0x1 upon flashing anything in download mode.
The Knox built in software adds complications to things such as rooting and installing/restoring apps not from play store. By removing built in knox apps, these apps work.

So there won't be any complications with flashing custom roms, we'll just lose KNOX and Warranty status? Correct? I have insurance, I'm not too worried about losing the warranty on my device, I just want root and the ability to flash custom roms with bloatware removed.

You don't want the software because it does not play well with apps that require root or with restored apps. It's more of a pain. When I get my n3 I'm Def flashing a rom without knox just because the problems it's been causing on rooted phones.

Does this mean if I restore using Titanium on a rooted phone some of the Apps. wont work?
Also is Knox the reson for the locked Bootloader? or is that completely different?
By flashing a ROM without Knox does this "unlock" the bootloader?

You can use titanium but you will have to run a script after to stop the apps from force closing. Someone sent the fix to the app devs do they can fix it. I would really wait until tb has an update that fixes the restore problem.
And knox is a system underneath android that provides security. It doesn't cause the boot loader to be locked but just adds another annoyance after you unlock the bootloader. And in order to flash a rom you need to install a custom recovery which cannot be done on a locked bootloader. Hope I said it clear enough think of knox as a pissed off antivirus that will not let you install and blocks half of the stuff from running properly.

No it will not kill your phone.
That part of knox is an app for security like any other app.
The knox warranty is only visible in download mode.
Some are reporting that there is no Knox flag on the 900 version. Basically the exynos version.
Also if it's a system app from Samsung you cannot delete unless you have root. You can only hide it and uninstall the updates to those apps!

You can root without harming the phone easily but you could void warranty. I am not sure that not having a visible knox counter in N900 means there isn't a hidden one.

[Q] knox warranty void 0x1 after official update ?

i updated with Kies3 from 4.3(sweden) to the new release of 4.3(sweden) that was suppose to fix some bugs etc.. but during the update i noticed that the knox was triggered ? how is that possible ?
since its triggered now, do i have to care about it anymore ? i dont need warranty since i repair myself but the updates will still come or not ?
Hmm, i didnt root or anything just because of not triggering it but now i got nothing to loose :S or should i report it to samsung/my provider ?
Q1: how did this happen ?
Q2: can i still update thrue knox when 4.4 release ?
Q3: does this mean i can root again without loosing anything ?

OK, so you have not rooted the phone before, but after the official update via Kies you have the Knox screwed up.
Well, the explanation is simple: Peter Pan had some... intense relationship with the dusty Fairy and this is the result.

i hope it answered your question.

Yeah I did do that. No one actually explains what to download and how to use it. You would had thought that I didn't try. I did use odin and flashed cwm and expected it to work, guess what it didn't. Upon entering recovery a error popped out and I was welcomed by the samsung recovery page. Hence i'm here looking for a way to root and get superuser that actually works.

You see, there are very well explained and , yes, they worked!
Well I followed the guide posted here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529064
Got myself a clockwork from here : http://www.filefactory.com/file/5wsoycfxn7i5/CWM_6.0.4.6_Non-Touch_GT-I9506.tar
Flashed it via odin. Was hoping that it would finally work, but bam. Got an error again.
Any help at this point would be appreciated.
Cheers.
You didnt flashed the right version, its 6.0.4.8, and you didnt unchecked auto reboot. So, you didnt do it how the guide says.

Once updated to 4.4.2, you cannot downgrade to 4.3! You can only use Auto root from DeHwak thread. Towelroot doesnt work on 4.4.2 on i9506! There is no root option for i9506 without tripping knox!
Well, on some phones, you can downgrade easly. For example you can do it on s4 mini. It has 4.3 Brazilian firmware with new knox 2.0 bootloader.

I am buying a new S4. Apparently it comes with 4.2x on it. So, should I root it from there or upgrade to 4.4.2 official? I was thinking if I did it from 4.2, I'd avoid the knox issue and then upgrade to a custom ROM later and still not have a knox problem.... or I am way off base?
Is there something new in root on 4.4.2 subject? I still want my knox status to be 0x0...

Can I revert knox after root?

Hello,
I know that if I root my s8 I will lost knox services, but if I reset my phone to factory can knox be restored too?
never, knox is a literal fuse in your phone, and when it blows, its gone, no way of getting back, EVER
Knox triggers an e-fuse which permanently burns a block in memory which is irreversible

Which phone do you have?
It matters because rooting your phone does not trigger the knox counter at all. Tools like cf auto root flash modified boot images to install root, and it is only that action alone that causes knox to increment.
The north american g95(0|5)(u|w) phones have locked bootloaders making knox increments impossible and they have had root since August of last year.

there are some methods which enable root in a light version! it's just without twrp or custom roms... but still stock rom with root. Sometimes that enough fo some people that only need a certain aspect of being rooted.
but to answer ops question. NO there is not going back unless you have a time machine which u can use and tell ur past self not to root.

False. Modifying boot.img trjggers knox counter. If you root without changing kernel or root filesystem, knox is not triggered. Every single snapdragon based samsung s8 and s7 and note8 and many more, every rooted Samsung with a locked bootloader that is rooted has 0x0 knox counter.
See for yourself.

Please do not spread misinformation. It is difficult enough convincing people who are used to exynos devices that rooting is safe on knox counter with locked bootloader device.

I have tripped Knox to but now I have flashed renovate rom 7.5 and it is set to 0x0 when booted. Nowhere to find that Knox tripped now.

You knox status is still 0x1, you are just running a kernel that ignores it in favor of a fake 0x0. If you flash stock kernel you will see 0x1 again.
Can you run samsung pay? Or secure folder?
Guys, the Snapdragon root method (SamPWND) does NOT trip Knox. But it's a limited root method as I think it uses an eng boot image, and the bootloader is still locked, so you can't flash custom ROMs or anything like that.
But yes, all true root methods do trip Knox. The ROMs may show it as being 0x0, but that's easy to spoof in software. As others have said, boot into Recovery and you'll see the true KNox status which cannot be spoofed
