Reception question

I.have had my s4 for a few days now, and it seems reception is not as good as my s3 was. I am sitting here and my wife's s3 has 4 bars of service, while my s4 has no bars... can anyone help?

If you have not updated your PRL and Profile yet from the house then should go ahead and do that. What modem/firmware are you on? MDC or MDL?
Also, just keep in mind that the signal bars on a lot of devices are not entirely accurate. I had an S3 before getting the S4 and my reception has been about the same but I didn't have both phones at one time to sit together and compare signal bars.
You need to find out the dBm strength to really know how strong the signal is and not go off the signal bars. Try using this on both phones: Network Signal Info and then compare.

I am mdl, I.also installed the program u recommend, and it's sayin -79. But my data is slow.. I have a airwave in my house from Sprint, could that be what's messing with my service??

Speed test on AT&T network - T-Mobile (unlocked) V AT&T Note 3

I have the t mob version and it seems to work fine on attending but I would be interested to know if anyone has done a side by side test with an att version to see if they really do get same speed, same signal etc.
While devices are supposed to be the same, is it possible that the radio software may not be, I. E. specifically for the AT&T or the mobile network?
On my other AT&T devices the radios were updated from time to time by AT&T which is why I ask.
Anyone?
Update: I ran speed test on my T-Mobile note 3 on att versus an att Galaxy s4 a number of times. Download speed was about 50 per cent faster on the Note but Upload speed was consistently about 30 per cent of the s4. Anyone know why?

I've run speed test on my S4 (AT&T) and Note 3 (T Mobile) and they are consistently the same on AT&T LTE.

Sorry for sounding dumb. What do you mean radios were updated? Perhaps being a t mobile note 3 user on AT&T one would need to insert an active t mobile sim in for updates ?

AT&T doesn't prioritize any device, just so you all know. If that was the case, you'd all be seeing 1mbps for LTE. I used an unbranded/International Galaxy S3 on AT&T and I got the same HSPA+ speeds as my AT&T S3. The phone will just show up as an unknown device.

I have both an ATT and a T-Mobile Note 3, and the speeds are essentially the same with the same sim card.

Using Att note 3 on Att network..

Does everyone else wifi signal drops??
My new sm-n9005 signal drop and come back but when on the mobile data it's fine.

Yes I got that also a couple of times. The signal is completely gone and then comes back.
Mobile is also OK. It has a stronger signal then my iPhone 5.

Made a thread about this. The wifi in this phone sucks. I think it has something to do with the wifi quality check before it connects. Any apk I can delete so it doesnt check the quality and just connects

It happened to me last night too. On the screen with the list of available wifi networks about every 5 seconds it would cycle from seeing all of the nearby ones, to saying my remembered network was not in range, even though the router is about 10 feet away. A reboot took care of it, and my wifi has been very solid since then, much better than my old Evo 4g LTE.

Yep mine does it but if you go on where the wifi scans, menu button and advanced and there's a option along the lines of check quality. I unchecked that and it's been fine all day...

Happens to me too and my 3G seems to be very slow.

I have the AT&T version and my wifi has been great, I have wiped and flashed the stock firmware back a few times tho. They may have something to do with it.

yeah how to get rid of the wifi quality check.. also problematic when it detects the wifi if the internet is slow or not.. sometime we dont need it to check if the internet is slow or not we just want to connect

N9005 not getting LTE on T-mobile

I searched everywhere and still haven't found any solutions yet. I have the Galaxy Note 3 N9005 model. I used to get T-mobiles LTE signals when I had my HTC One but since getting my Note 3 I no longer get LTE. I only get H and H+ speeds. I checked the settings and LTE is enabled but still no LTE is showing on the status bar.

I had that i took the sim out and that done it

Poor signal

So has anyone found a solution to the bad reception and 4glte bouncing around to no service. I've read several forums so I'm not the only one . It just pisses me off that I paid full price and Verizon gives you the run around and wants to send you a certified replacement. What a joke. We are in desperate need of an update.

I find it helps to turn on airplane mode then turn it off. Resetting the radios often helps it pick up 4g again.

We shouldn't have to keep toggling just to maintain lte. I called Verizon the other day and they put in a ticket but I don't think much is going to come of it.
This phone's reception is much weaker than the droid DNA. In places I got steady 4g, it now goes back and forth from 3g.
The signal strength is like a good 10-20+dbs worse than the DNA in the same spots. (I'm pretty much only at work and home do nothing's changed except the phone).
Sometimes with this phone, it'll show connected to lte (1-2 bars on the icon) but I can't get anything to load. No websites, no rhapsody streaming, nothing. All apps time out trying to connect. But that might be just a specific area at work. Regardless, I'm sure that even at home, the signal strength is always over -100 when the DNA would regularly be sub -100
So annoying.

The update made my phone snappier. As far as the signal , I think it might have helped a little bit. I know it doesn't sit there for a few seconds when calling someone. It used to take forever.

I just switched from my SGS3 to the new Note 3 and my reception is much better now.

I think I'm going to sell my note 3 and buy the developer addition. Only problem is I paid full price. I'm willing to lose a couple hundred bucks for a good signal.

If being better than the GS3 "blows" then okay.....
Not only is my cellular reception much better, my wifi reception is much better too. Good enough that in places that both didn't work before I now get at least usable 1x or one bar 3g/4g data.

I also had the gs3 . This phone by far kicks the gs3 butt. I will agree the gs3 signal is twice as good. My galaxy note 3 works awesome if I'm not at work or in my house. It is what it is.

Every experience is different. I Have A DROID Bionic And I Use It For Work And I Constantly Notice The Bionic On 4G And The Note 3 On 3G. It's not all the time obviously but it's enough to be noticeable.

OP, have you dropped your phone perhaps? I just read about the "LDS" technology they started using beginning with the Note 3 that integrates the antenna into the actual frame of the device. They say stress on the frame could cause the antenna itself inside to crack affecting signal.

No I haven't dropped my phone. my phone is very well taken care of. After using the MI9 modem for a day I've had twice the battery life. At 14 hrs I had 51%battery with 5 hours of on screen time. Thanks for the feedback.

I don't think people in here realize different manufacturers phones get different reception. HTC and Moto phones will ALWAYS get better signal. Its a fact of life. Just because your note 3 is newer doesn't mean anything.
And if your still thinking of switching to Dev Edition for better signal, your in for a surprise..... That phone has the same radio hardware in it that the Note 3 you currently have does. Wouldn't waste the "couple hundred bucks" looking there for better signal.
PS - my Note 3 gets phenomenal signal. Not as good as my HTC One did (obviously) but better than all the other flagship phones Verizon has had in the last 2 yrs.

You are correct sir I think I'm just doomed with the area I live in but MI9 modem did help my signal or mostly my battery life.
