The OTA is not out yet, you got 2 options:
1.Wait for OTA.
2.Flash factory image(there are guides here on XDA).

This do not warrant creating a new thread in the general section or any section.
OTA is rolling out right now, just wait.

Hi Bhargav,
I was in the exact same situation as you this time yesterday, now I'm enjoying brand new, shiny and delicious Android KitKat!
You'll need to get the factory image if you don't want to wait for the OTA. I followed this step by step guide which you'll find in the Nexus 4 sticky roll up thread...

It was written as a 4.3 guide but works just the same for 4.4. Enjoy KitKat!

Update?

I just received my nexus 7 and there's already an update available. I plan on rooting and flashing a custom rom. Should I update or not? I know sometimes an update can cause problems when it comes to rooting and whatnot so I thought I'd ask first.. thanks for any feedback!

Yes update it. I updated to 4.1.1 first then unlocked, then rooted with permanent cwm then flashed touch cwm from rom manager.
Use nexus toolkit though so you can restore stock recovery to flash Amy new updates and root again easily.
Also no harm updating to 4.1.1 and then rooting we have methods set up for that right now.

You can root it before or after update, you're just updating to 4.1.1, or you can install a ROM that is already there, if you're rooting either way, just go for it right away

Thanks a lot for your quick responses! Lovin it so far no issues like I've heard about.

This is a nexus device. Unlike other devices you never need to fear an update may break your ability to root.

Daft quick question.

Could someone confirm to me the most up to date Android version for the Nexus 4. Is it 4.2.1 or 4.2.2? I just got my phone today and started it up then it had an OTA update. Ran that. Later today I rooted phone and installed CWM. Afterwards my system shows 4.2.1. For some reason I had in my head that the OTA this afternoon. Updated to 4.2.2 but I could be very much mistaken.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] rooting stock 4.3

I've just purchased a nexus 10 from Google and have updated it to 4.3. I've been trying to root it for the past few hours but I'm not having any luck. Always get stuck on the X screen after unlocking bootloader and then have to do a wipe/format and try again.
Most of the rooting threads are for 4.2.x and was wondering if anyone has been successful in rooting stock 4.3? If so what method did you use... Hopefully I'm not just screwing it up each time .

[Q] Rooting, CM and upcomming Android 4.4

I want to root my Nexus 4 and install newest CM. One problem is, that there is Android 4.4 update comming soon. So if I root my Nexus and install CM, can I get my phone back to stock and update Android to 4.4?
Yes. You can either flash the 4.4 images, or simply install a 4.4 based custom ROM (the more practical solution my opinion) since you will already have installed a custom recovery.

If I have CM installed, can I somehow get everything to stock. Like my Nexus 4 just came out of box?

Unroot before official 4.4 Kitkat update

I'm new user to android. I had successfully rooted my Nexus 7 2012 v4.3 using Wugs Nexus Toolkit long back. I was wondering if I had to unroot tablet to install official v4.4 Kitkat update when it rolls out later this month?
i hit this border everytime and official update comes lol i think you dont need to unroot but major updates delete root and replace recovery/bootloader depending on update? im not 100% thou
Thanks.

If you made any system changes or tweaks....that won't be good enough. Better off flashing stock.
