Flashed the latest factory build 4.4 today and I seem to get a very low literally unusable Wifi speed on Nexus 4. Connection is fine, its the phone. Any solution?

First of all your baseband is out of date. So flash the radio in the factory image and check your stuff again.
looks at the baseband -_- *sigh*
I have the same speed problems with my data connection(wifi is working absolutely fine)....Baseband is .97
any suggestions
I seem to have the same issue, baseband is .97. I'm getting about 200 Kbit/s download speeds on WiFi, the signal is perfect and the connection is fine (tested with a notebook at the same location).

It's working better for me here. Finally getting my cable broadband 50Mb bursts on N. If you came from anything but stock maybe try a reflash or reboot.

Same here, my wifi works way better now on 4.4. No more heavy buffering on youtube, even when HD.
Yeah, my WiFi speeds went way down as well. My flashing process was manually flashing the factory images, booting up once, going back to recovery, doing a factory reset + dalvik wipe, then installing the new version of the N5 port that includes all the libs and what not for the N4 from the N4 factory images. Baseband / Radio are properly updated.
So, granted, there could be something messed up with the N5 rom - although up until now (that is, before flashing the factory images and using their updated version that includes the N4 libs) WiFi worked fine.
I'm gonna try and give it a little while, maybe reset the device, I dunno. I'll be keeping an eye out for updates from you guys though. If mine fixes itself by a random chance, I'll let everyone know.
My wifi speeds are terrible. They were perfectly fine before on jellybean and all my other devices have a fast connection so it isn't the network.
The same to me... it's strange. With my S4 Active my internet speed is around 20mbps and with my Nexus 4 is around 4mbps (both are connected to the same wifi at the same distance). My baseband is .97.
An update: I had about 200 Kbit/s speeds at work, but suddenly have 20-30x better speeds at home with weaker signal. Go figure...
I had slower download than upload when checked with speed checker apps.. 0.78mbits/s
But forgetting the network and setting it up again has fixed it back to where it should be for my meagre connection @12 to 15mbits/s.... Hope it holds

First I apologize if this has been covered in another post - I searched but couldn't find and if so a redirect would be appreciated.
I'm trying to determine just how fast data can be pushed through the phone and I've run into some problems.
I'm trying to use speedtest.net to do this and it was working with the stock ROM but since I've been trying different ROMs (3 of them in fact) I always get the error "Missing License Key" in he Speedtest.net window.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Since that one doesn't work I've been using the Speedtest.net mini. That at least gives me up and download speeds.
But I've also found that whne I connect to the internet with WiFi the speeds are almost slower than a decent H connection.
It's rare that I get over 3 down /1.5 up on a WiFi N connection that has 20+Mbit Comcast connection behind it.
Here I'd just like to confirm if everybody else is seeing the same thing:
What dl/ul speeds are your seeing with your HD2 connected to a fast wireless router?
On the stock ROM it wasn't much higher than the 3G.
Not for me, I usually get 13-14 Mbps down/ 50 kBps (stupid cable upload speeds) up on wifi and around 1.8 Mbps down/ 1.5 Mbps up on HSXPA/UMTS.
I personally have very little faith in the reliability of numbers from speedtest.net
Try testing this way...use IE instead of opera, and go to www.speakeasy.net/speedtest (it wont run in opera but will in IE). When I use that method while connected to my home wifi, I get the exact same speed my desktop gets using the same dsl source (just a hair over 5MB down), which my 3g connection here has yet to match...usually caps out at around 3MB or so.
I've seen the same behaviour as the OP.
My Wi-fi speeds are slower than my HSPA speeds.
I had same issue as well. I had bsb tweaks installed. I disabled the wifi n tweak. after that both my 3g and wifi speeds went up. Re-enabled the tweak to see if speeds would be reduced and this time only the wifi speeds increased again. tweak must of been causing some sort of issue with the 3g and wifi speeds. Try disabling it, soft reset and than re-enable the tweak. Hopefully it works for you as it did for me.

Which ROM are you using and how much faster is it? Do you see a large speed difference with a different ROM between a fast WiFi and 3g/h?
The only real difference I noticed between the stock and 3 other ROMS I've installed so far is that I wasted a long time trying to get WiFi working in KAOS but never could. I was able to get a connection but the client never reported an IP address. Turns out the ROM I was using was not specifically for the TMOUS HD2 so maybe that was the cause.

My situation is reversed; the cable manages 3mb up on the PC but the 3G/H is almost always much slower on upload than download.

Thanks, that was an excellent suggestion; I hadn't tried this particular site before and while it uses the same data as speedtest.net it also allows a specific destination and works with IE.
In random testing on WiFi I got around 7-8Mb down, 3 Mb up. While driving around the local area I got 5 bars from two different towers and found an average 1.0Mb dl, 0.8Mb up, and that was pretty constant whether moving or stopped.
I've also noticed in general that the "H" only appears whenever data is actually being transferred (sounds like our back-end hasn't been upgraded). Right now I can get neither the speedtest.net nor the mini version to work - the windows just stay white.
I'll keep trying both of them to compare over the next few weeks but I think the biggest part of the problem is Adobe Flash. There is a reason why Apple doesn't support them and I don't think it's all political like Adobe would have us believe.
I've also done some more experimenting with mobilespeedtest.com as well as general testing over the past few days.
Mobile speed test shows that IE seems to be faster/more stable than Opera - by probably 5 to 20%. While the absolute numbers had alot of variability, Opera was unable to complete the 5 MB and 7 MB tests at all; the browser window just remained blank.
The other thing to throw in here while trying to clean up the phone I found the post about doing a hard reset and that also seemed to help. I don't have any solid data but I would certainly hard reset it again and recommend it to anyone that has changed ROMS much or done a lot of installing/deinstalling of cabs.

By how much roughly? Are you also on the stock ROM?
That certainly jibes with what I found on the stock ROM using speedtest.net.

I don't have BSB tweaks installed currently but I performed the WirelessN tweak in the registry. Based on what you've said here I went back and switched it off, did a soft reset, tested and then back on and retested, and found no dramatic difference between any of them. What I found was a lot of variability between the tests in the same setting - even one right after the other. (I would probably do well to review the wireless router settings to see if I can up the data throughput rate.)
To compare I checked a notebook using N located at about the same distance from the router and got speeds a little (5-10%) faster than on the phone (-hardwired into the router I get 25Mbps down). This tells me the phone is as optimized as it's going to be going through my router.
So on the phone I see final scores of about 7-8Mbps down, 2-3 up, with spikes over 10 Mbps down and 4 up during the tests.
Deeted - error post
I tried "mobilespeedtest.com" and get around 1100-1300 kbps on wifi and the same or more when wifi off and using t-mobile (with "H" showing, not 3g).
speakeasy/speedtest on wifi 3421 kbps, off wifi , 3569 kbps (3.57mbps)

No, Not on the Stock ROM.
Like Opera Mini and Skyfire, I think Opera Mobile 10 goes through an external server. One cannot get an accurate speed test that way. Use Opera 9, or better IE, as it works with flash speed tests as well, not only the mobile ones.
I'm one of the people that are experiencing very inconsistent data speeds, details here
I'm trying to figure out if my radio is bad, or has a different version than those who are not experiencing any issues.
My Radio version is - 1.07.00.1129
For those experiencing problems or not, could you please post back your Radio version so we can get an idea of what's going on.
To find the Baseband:
Navigate to Settings > About Phone > Software Information

That's mine too and I've got no problems.
Same radio as me.
I had bad data speeds when I first got my phone, but I fixed it with the ##DATA# data reset.
I have the same Baseband. I haven't noticed any issues with speeds yet. I have noticed that on wifi it screams though. I know it should run faster on wifi because of the internet speed, but it's at least 5x faster than my Hero was with the same internet.
I have the same baseband as well but my internet signal does lag sometimes and I have done the data reset. I may try it again, I just hope its not a hardware issue like the moments data lock. And we do have a b/g/n chip in this phone so on wifi, even if you don't have a n router, the signal will be more stable and faster.

I'm trying out the MikFroyo 4.5 ROM and was liking it until I noticed download speeds over WiFi. The throughput seems to be incredibly SLOW compared to my previous ROM (Rebirth-ACrom), which was blazing fast. Funny thing is, though, that the Speedtest app shows fast speeds. And yes, I did everything properly, including wiping data and cache before flashing the ROM and testing before restoring with Titanium. Is there a fix for this? Otherwise I might have to look at a different ROM, such as SPRINTLOVERS or Myn.
And for that matter, Market downloads over 4G seem to be a bit slow (closer to 3G speeds) as well.

my wifi is fine, no problems here, wipe data, wipe cache/dalvik and system. i dont like myn, heap size is too small
at one point my wifi got shot and killed and could not use it. but figured out it was a kernel issue, so try another kernel like the sbc kernel
Did you restore any system data with TB? If so, that may be the issue.

I'm having the same issue. I noticed my wifi has problems scanning for networks, throws an error "Unable to scan for networks" and then turns off the wifi.
I did do a TB and a restore with it, but I only restored the apps and data, not system files or data at all.
I had the same problems. I finally had to uninstall Mikfroyo 4.5 while I still had hair left. I think it had something to do with the addfree app. Open addfree and select revert then try using Titanium back up to clear all data and uninstall addfree. That might help. If I remember right the addfree app was installed with the ROM.
I never understood why my phone always ran so slow in every department while using what was supposed to be the fastest EVO rom so I finally just flashed something else. Currently using Myns Z rom and my wifi is blazing.
I was having the same problem, changed the kernel and solved the problem.

I'm currently experiencing the same issue where it's unable to scan networks. What kernel did you end up flashing to NiMiNuM?
Running Mikfroyo V4.5 Also with a No SBC MoreHavs Kernel and I am finally in a 4G area and connected to it with good signal, but when I go to use the hotspot setting it tells me that I am not subscribed to Hotspot service. Will let me hotspot 3G but as soon as I get 4G up and running it tells me that message, any ideas?
Unfortunately I did not notice the problem right away, but having the same prob. Interesting thing I recently (this weekend) tried a few(Virus,Misfit,MikGinger) of the new leaked sense gingerbread roms. I also switched kernels a few times, but have the same problem across the board. I did catch where something borked in the buildprob could cause this. I can still tether my laptop, just will not scan and therefore can't connect via wifi. Besides doing everything correctly I do nandroid backups before changes. Unfortunately i delete older ones (space issue). So my oldest nandroid is mikfroyo4.5 with the scanning issue. ANY IDEAS?
I found from upgrading to 4.61 that the problem was with the dalvik-cache chewing up the entire cache partition. Once dalvik-cache was moved back to the data partition, the problem resolved. And 4.61 still has decent app space.

I have been using MikFroyo 4.5 all this morning and haven't seen any speed problems. On the WMU campus I was clocking in at around 1.3MB/s (not mbps)
As I posted earlier I had the unable to scan problem. Once I gave in and did a complete wipe/data reset my problem was solved. If all else fails....
I just finished installing the 4.3 update via the factory images courtesy of Google and I've had the oddest slowdown in Wi-Fi performance. It takes 9-10 minutes to download the swiftkey app and the store times out constantly. My nexus 7 freshly updated and my PC connect fine and get speeds around 50mbps, but once I got the speedtest app on my Nexus 4 it capped out at a very shaky 2.3 mbps. I re downloaded the package and reflashed thinking it might have been a bad flashed with the same result.
Now I'm trying the whole process again with a sideload install on 4.2.2 (after restoring Wi-Fi performance was normal) and hoping that resolves it. Also, this problem only seems to be on the 5ghz frequency.
Same for me!

Continued problem after sideload...
I've now updated this software every which way I know how and it looks like there may be an issue with the 5ghz Wi-Fi in the new update. During the restore process, store can barely be accessed, apps download kilobytes per second and very little data connection works on Wi-Fi. If anyone is using this software and does not have this particular issue, please let me know or if you've fixed it help us out!
I've been looking everywhere for solutions to the weak Wifi on the Nexus 10, but didn't find any solutions yet.
The network also has an added wifi repeated connected via LAN, but still the Nexus keeps 1-3 bars of wifi.
I have another 5 or so Wifi devices, Galaxy S2, Lumia 920, iPhone, 2 laptops. None of these have any issues and are always on 4-5 bars, usually max all the time.
I've tested both on 2.4ghz and 5ghz, both to my Asus AC66U and also to an old RT-10, one Huawei, etc.
It's very clear that no matter the band or router settings, the Nexus 10 really has a weak signal reception in comparison.
Since the Nexus is new for me, it's on 4.3 and I don't know how it performed earlier.
Are there any other modem drivers or similar that can be flashed?
Any other experiences with custom ROM's?
Wifi strength has been a little weak since release honestly. Has been mentioned alot here and around the web for a while.
Now my problem since the latest update has been wifi drops where I lose wifi transfer completely even though the wifi icon shows a good connection.
I think this is something new (i know it is for me at least) and have been looking to see if anyone else has seen this issue in the latest software release.
If I toggle wifi off/on it works after but it is a huge pita.

This problem (wifi icon gray and no internet connection) started with 4.3 for me without question. Previously wifi connectivity was rock solid and I never gave a second thought to it. Nothing changed but the android version. I hope it is fixed in 4.4.

mine was doing the same thing. i tried clearing the cache, uninstalling apps that i thought might interfere and then a full factory reset. still had the same problem. i rooted and then did a factory reset from recovery and it hung up reinstalling apps so i did another factory reset still in and out. i did another factory reset and logged into my wifi and left for a few hours to work on something else. when i got back the signal showed full and about half of the apps installed. i reinstalled all of the apps that hadn't installed and it's working fine now. not sure why i had to wipe it 4 times but it's working fine now and streaming movies without a hiccup. i guess something kept getting corrupted during the setup or reinstall of apps. anyway it's been working fine for a few hours which is the best it's done in the last month.
