I'm trying out the MikFroyo 4.5 ROM and was liking it until I noticed download speeds over WiFi. The throughput seems to be incredibly SLOW compared to my previous ROM (Rebirth-ACrom), which was blazing fast. Funny thing is, though, that the Speedtest app shows fast speeds. And yes, I did everything properly, including wiping data and cache before flashing the ROM and testing before restoring with Titanium. Is there a fix for this? Otherwise I might have to look at a different ROM, such as SPRINTLOVERS or Myn.
And for that matter, Market downloads over 4G seem to be a bit slow (closer to 3G speeds) as well.

my wifi is fine, no problems here, wipe data, wipe cache/dalvik and system. i dont like myn, heap size is too small
at one point my wifi got shot and killed and could not use it. but figured out it was a kernel issue, so try another kernel like the sbc kernel
Did you restore any system data with TB? If so, that may be the issue.

I'm having the same issue. I noticed my wifi has problems scanning for networks, throws an error "Unable to scan for networks" and then turns off the wifi.
I did do a TB and a restore with it, but I only restored the apps and data, not system files or data at all.
I had the same problems. I finally had to uninstall Mikfroyo 4.5 while I still had hair left. I think it had something to do with the addfree app. Open addfree and select revert then try using Titanium back up to clear all data and uninstall addfree. That might help. If I remember right the addfree app was installed with the ROM.
I never understood why my phone always ran so slow in every department while using what was supposed to be the fastest EVO rom so I finally just flashed something else. Currently using Myns Z rom and my wifi is blazing.
I was having the same problem, changed the kernel and solved the problem.

I'm currently experiencing the same issue where it's unable to scan networks. What kernel did you end up flashing to NiMiNuM?
Running Mikfroyo V4.5 Also with a No SBC MoreHavs Kernel and I am finally in a 4G area and connected to it with good signal, but when I go to use the hotspot setting it tells me that I am not subscribed to Hotspot service. Will let me hotspot 3G but as soon as I get 4G up and running it tells me that message, any ideas?
Unfortunately I did not notice the problem right away, but having the same prob. Interesting thing I recently (this weekend) tried a few(Virus,Misfit,MikGinger) of the new leaked sense gingerbread roms. I also switched kernels a few times, but have the same problem across the board. I did catch where something borked in the buildprob could cause this. I can still tether my laptop, just will not scan and therefore can't connect via wifi. Besides doing everything correctly I do nandroid backups before changes. Unfortunately i delete older ones (space issue). So my oldest nandroid is mikfroyo4.5 with the scanning issue. ANY IDEAS?
I found from upgrading to 4.61 that the problem was with the dalvik-cache chewing up the entire cache partition. Once dalvik-cache was moved back to the data partition, the problem resolved. And 4.61 still has decent app space.

I have been using MikFroyo 4.5 all this morning and haven't seen any speed problems. On the WMU campus I was clocking in at around 1.3MB/s (not mbps)
As I posted earlier I had the unable to scan problem. Once I gave in and did a complete wipe/data reset my problem was solved. If all else fails....

i've looked everywhere for a solution to this.. but no luck.. i have a MT3G and have been switching roms here and there.. have had no problems what so ever with mobile networks (2g, 3g, ya know) and i just switched from kings legend rom to cyanogen 4.2.15.1 and noticed that it said it was connected to 3g but when i try using the browser or any app that requires internet it doesn't connect..
so after all that, i decided to switch to super d to see if it was cyanogen being weird on my phone.. and i'm getting the same issue on this one.. (even after i wipe and everything before flashing)
any ideas?

if anyone is curious
I realized that before i started having issues with both of those, i did a restore using mybackuppro.. and this seems to have been causing the issue.. fixed now after i flashed cyan again and haven't restored any apps
Ok i know there are threads out there that are similar... But this one just boggles my mind.
Currently using stock rom with phoenix kernel.
It all started i guess when I installed Quick Settings from the Android market and didnt know that it wasn't recommended for usage on cdma phones because of the data-disabling toggle. After i installed it and often used it to disable my data to save battery, i noticed that it took forever to update my rss feeds and pandora as well. I then proceeded to test the download/upload speeds via speedtest.net app. it was then i noticed that my download speeds were peaking at 200kbps and sinking down again to 150kbps, repeat. My uploads were the standard 500-700kbps so i wasn't worried about that...
I then read comments on the market regarding quick settings and how it messes up the cdma data speeds. So i did what anyone else would do: backed up my contacts, sms and apps and used odin to flash back to stock rom.
Downloads were normal again but then it started getting worse again. I then decided to update my prl and profile and it seemed to fix the problem. But a day later, the slow download speeds plagued me once more!
I'm really frustrated at this point because i'm not sure if it's because of some of the stock apps that i deleted (although it can't that because i even flashed back to stock rom via odin) or possibly i messed up my radio because of quick settings... or it could possibly be the 3G towers in Denver?
side note: 4g speeds are fine, standard 5mbps down and .8 mbps up.
Can you guys help me out???
THanks in advance!
I doubt it's the radio since flashing the stock tar through odin reflashes the radio. Have you tried samsung's dialer code low-level factory reset? It fixed my gps after a month of it not working . Type *#767*3855# in dialer like a regular phone number. WARNING: There is NO prompt and this will LITERALLY wipe your phone clean including the programming (Hands-Free Activation will start after boot-up).
Ok i'll try that... it wont wipe the sdcard though right?
So im on Syndicate rom 1.0.2 and i like it alot. its realy fast and smooth. but ever since moving from 1.0.1 the wireless tether app (3.0.9) doesnt work. When i launch the app and click to start tethering it starts initiating the process but freezes right where its trying to use the hotspot and then it makes the phone reboot. Any other verion of this app will FC. Can some one help please? i have reflashed the rom properly a few times and that didnt help. I also tried the tether fix file that k0nane had on his thread and didnt fix anything either. I tried downloading the hotspot fix from Syndicate page and those links dont work anymore. Can some one please help?
EDIT: i have it set on epic 4g in the settings.
Also does any one have a way to fix the tws bug? (i do know the airplane mode trick but was looking for a fix not a workaround)
thanks eveyone in advance....k0nane, thank you for your hard hard work bro
You mentioned 3.0.9 - I assume you mean -pre9. The version included in SRF is 3.0-pre11. You probably shouldn't have flashed that fix, either, because it was for 1.0.1 only.
I'd suggest you remove any copies of the Wireless Tether app you've installed, and reflash 1.0.2. You won't lose any data. See if it works for you then. If it doesn't, uninstall the preloaded version and try others. Wireless Tether is a finnicky beast, but that's expected - the 3.0 branch is experimental for a reason.
Thanks. I will try that and get back to you. And yes I meant the version that came with rom. I will try and get back to you.
Hey I tried everything in your instructions and still the same thing. I knw this wireless tether thing is in experimental stages but it worked fine on 1.0.1. I actually wasnt able to use the pre10 on that rom version so I had downloaded the 2.0.7 version and that worked fine. Do you think it might have to do with the hotspot app ? because i notice wireless tether freezes and phone reboots when its trying to launch hotspot. I notice from the notification when hotspot becomes activated the phone freezes and reboots..
Issue resolved
Well, thank you for your help again. After trying every thing from flashing the rom to uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless tether app I got tired and almost gave up. Then I started playing with the app settings and it turns out that choosing the LG Optimus under Device-Profile is really stable and works the best for me, so far no issues.
I was going to say i had issues which were resolved by selecting EPic 4G(my phone ) in settings. I was able to launch and see it but did not have internet access until i selected my phone as well.

I also selected Samsung epic but this did not work for me. what worked was LG Optimus! it is strange but it works ;-)
I didn't have to do anything and it worked fine for me. I set up Security on it but that's it. Especially with all the ROM flashing I wonder why your phone seems especially finicky. Good luck.
I had errors similar to this when using the app, my problem was that I had 4G turned on already when launching the app. Turning 4G off, launching the app establishing a connection and THEN turning on 4G works perfectly though.
mine would not work either I went to settings and changed my device profile to epic 4g and my set up method to softtap for samsung. that seem to do the trick.
Ok so I have been searching for an answer to my issue for a few days but have had no luck. My wife and I both have an evo that we got at the same time. I rooted both using the same method and and we both have the cm7 Tom with the kernel it comes with.
For the past week she has been having connection issues. Sometimes when accessing the android market it says network connection error and other times it works fine. When accessing the internet it will sometimes not load the page and say that the site may be down. The has been happening a lot to her lately. When these things happen I try the same sites on my phone and they work fine. This is all done over a 3g connection. I have tried resetting the phone to factory and then redoing the rom and nothing helps.
Any suggestions?
I'm having the same issues as well. I've flashed a few different roms and my radios are up to date.
I had similar issues and found that by tweaking the Pri, Prl, and radio...can be found in dev section, that I was able to overcome... could just be a bad combo with that rom
VyperVainz, do you mind sharing what worked for you? I'm running synergy with the latest pri, nv and radio.
I think this is a network issue. My wife and I have been having both data and texting issues. She has a blackberry so not Evo isolated.

Sprint's network has been pretty crappy lately. Slow speeds dropped loading pages, I don't think it's a rom issue

It's an internet, non phone issue. :-D I often go betwen wifi and the normal connection to get a connection to the market.
Flashed the latest factory build 4.4 today and I seem to get a very low literally unusable Wifi speed on Nexus 4. Connection is fine, its the phone. Any solution?

First of all your baseband is out of date. So flash the radio in the factory image and check your stuff again.
looks at the baseband -_- *sigh*
I have the same speed problems with my data connection(wifi is working absolutely fine)....Baseband is .97
any suggestions
I seem to have the same issue, baseband is .97. I'm getting about 200 Kbit/s download speeds on WiFi, the signal is perfect and the connection is fine (tested with a notebook at the same location).

It's working better for me here. Finally getting my cable broadband 50Mb bursts on N. If you came from anything but stock maybe try a reflash or reboot.

Same here, my wifi works way better now on 4.4. No more heavy buffering on youtube, even when HD.
Yeah, my WiFi speeds went way down as well. My flashing process was manually flashing the factory images, booting up once, going back to recovery, doing a factory reset + dalvik wipe, then installing the new version of the N5 port that includes all the libs and what not for the N4 from the N4 factory images. Baseband / Radio are properly updated.
So, granted, there could be something messed up with the N5 rom - although up until now (that is, before flashing the factory images and using their updated version that includes the N4 libs) WiFi worked fine.
I'm gonna try and give it a little while, maybe reset the device, I dunno. I'll be keeping an eye out for updates from you guys though. If mine fixes itself by a random chance, I'll let everyone know.
My wifi speeds are terrible. They were perfectly fine before on jellybean and all my other devices have a fast connection so it isn't the network.
The same to me... it's strange. With my S4 Active my internet speed is around 20mbps and with my Nexus 4 is around 4mbps (both are connected to the same wifi at the same distance). My baseband is .97.
An update: I had about 200 Kbit/s speeds at work, but suddenly have 20-30x better speeds at home with weaker signal. Go figure...
I had slower download than upload when checked with speed checker apps.. 0.78mbits/s
But forgetting the network and setting it up again has fixed it back to where it should be for my meagre connection @12 to 15mbits/s.... Hope it holds
