which device (brand and model)? which software (ROM)?
if you have WP7 on phone, than you must run Connection Setup and confirm your operator, turn off phone and turn on... if after that internet not work than you must manually add APN data to phone in cellular settings...

Hey all - just got my unlocked wizard from ebay... it's a t-mobile device (has t mobile logo on it) but receives calls etc fine when I put in my att sim card, says its on ATT network, etc.
Only thing it is having trouble doing is connecting to the mobile data (it says its trying to connect to t mobile MMS - GPRS)... how do I set this device to connect to att's data network (i dont think they use gprs do they?) so I can send MMS messages?
Also.. my exchange provider said I need to upgrade my software on the mobile device if I want to use exchange push email... I need to get the "AKU2" update... now when I do this, if available, do I get this from ATT (because they are my provider) or t-mobile (because the device is t-mobile) ??
Thanks for reading the newbie questions... love the device though!

Does this still apply though because I have a device that says t mobile on it.. the keyboard looks different from the cingular 8125.. etc?

also, i'm not upgrading from a former at&t plan.. my sim card says cingular, then they became ATT... so i was just saying ATT because cingular is now ATT
so I have a cingular sim card trying to access cingular/att network with the t-mobile device. Can you advise per my original post given this info?
See if I hit your link... following the docs...I don't have (GPRS/3G) as a choice... just Cellular Line (GPRS) .. what can I do??
Under where it says "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:", select "New".
General Tab:
Enter a name for these settings: mMode
Modem Tab:
Add “New”.
Enter a name for the connection: mMode
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
I use a T-Mobile MDA on the AT&T network as well, using a Cingular SIM.
A quick way to set the Media settings on the MDA is by running "Cingular WAP MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab" linked here.
If that link doesn't work, it's attached in the second post of this thread.
Thanks!
The .CAB worked like a charm.

hey guys,
I have put a sim card from my iphone 1st gen to my x1... the x1 can detect the sim and auto config itself to att setting. However it always show its on the 3G network (should be edge instead) and whenever I try to get online it will say it cannot connect to the server.... any idea on how to fix it?
I have tried to put in a att 3G sim in it and it works perfectly fine.. so I am guessing somehow the phone just like the 3G network better and always try to get itself on the 3G but not the edge??
I tried using the advance config to bring out the disable 3G tab in the communication manager... but its always gray out and nothing I can do to it.

Was your last phone the iPhone? If so you have to make sure to do 4 things before internet will work on any other phone you put that sim in
1. Call ATT&T and have them put the Xperia IMEI number on your account.
2. Change your data plan from the iPhone data plan to the "pda personal" data plan
3. Confirm all references to the iPhone are out of ATT&T systems. I had this problem a couple of weeks ago where I changed my data plan but the rep forgot to update something in the billing system which still referenced me as having an iPhone and my internet would not work until they removed it.
4. Go into the connection manager on the phone and edit the wap.cingular settings. For some reason the connection manager populates a username and password, you need to delete both values as ATT&T medianet no longer uses a username and password
Your phone showing "H" (3G) doesn't really have any bearing on if you actually have internet connectivity as my phone was doing the same thing even before I got everything straightened out with ATT&T.

hrmm... cool let me try that and see.... I was thinking I can just pop in a sim card and work =D
but do you have to change to the smartphone plane or you can use the unlimited media?
i just popped in my sim card and everything worked. didnt have to call to give them my ime number but then again, i have a prepaid phone sim card and dont know if that would make a difference.
i dont see why your wanting edge, when 3g (h) is what you should really be wanting. well anyways, you wont get edge, if 3g is available. thats your phone picking up the high speed band, it will pick up whats available. thats just my thoughts anyways.
i have an x1a

well I just came back from Asia so I am just wondering why my x1 isnt connecting to edge at all
and btw... when I put that iphone sim to my blackjack 2... it did connect to the edge network instead of the 3G for some reason
is blackjack a 3g phone or edge. i thought its just an edge phone but i just looked it up and it does support 3g.
hi i just recently got the xperia x1 and when i
insert my sim the 3g or edge will not connect?

Are you able to make voice calls?
If the data is not connecting YES you have to manually enter the settings do a search any WM ATT settings will work even from other phones.
I am using the X1a on ATT with no issues however I have the old Blue Sim otherwise I would post my settings for you.
yeah i can make call and send text
i just cant get in to the internet
i have a htc fuze and when i insert the
sim it works fine and internet works great
its just the xperia wont connect
how do i get the settings?, srry
I had the same problem. The needed settings are already within the phone for the AT&T network. Be sure to call them and give them your IMEI number so that your phone can pass that data on their network. That was my problem...
i just got off the phone with att
and they told me i have to call "sony ericson"
to give me the settings , im not sure what that means
try a custom rom?
i thought it' automatically configure the ATT setting when u do a hard reset.
have any u recommend?
i have no idea why it wount connect =/

Hard reset the phone. Choose ATT when it asks you to choose a network. It should configure both voice and data. No point in calling ATT. The xperia IMEI shows up as a Moto Q in their database.
No Need to perform a hard reset yet...
Go to Setting/Connections. you should have an icon for "Connection Setup"
just choose USA and ATT. Then it should correct all setting for voice and data.
Then if you still have problems....Then Try a Hard Reset!!

I just SIM unlocked the Ozone (via customer service) and inserted an at&t SIM from my iPhone. Voice and SMS works fine when I set the network mode to GSM Only. Under connections a new option shows up for GPRS. This is typically where we would set the wap.cingular apn but I cannot get it to connect. Has anyone had any success? I am trying to test the switching from CDMA to GSM. But I have a feeling that it will be voice only as no apns are setup. This same sim card works in my Kaiser (att&t) with the same settings so it does not have anything to do with the iphone data plan.
I'm also using an AT&T sim card on the ozone.
Basically what i did was just to run the HTC Connection Setup tool and that did everything for me. I didn't have to do anything.
The phone connects to the internet with no problems after that.
Is there a cab file for that as I do not have it on the evo 6.5 rom.
Figured it out. I had the connection settings correct (APN) it was Comm Manager had "Data Connections" off. Now I am good to go on my testing. Sorry for the stupidity everyone.
Trinergy
I did the same that you did. I mean having the data connection off. In fact I realized that I needed to turn it on after reading your message. The thing is that in my Kaiser there was no need to turn on manually the data connection first. Actually, it was done automatically when trying to retreive data, for example: by pressing send/receive funtion in the mail.
Thanks, your confesion helped me a lot
yes
I realize that this is a year old but I'm having the same issues connecting to the internet. my ozone works for voice and sms but no mms or internet (data) any help?
I'm just running the 6.5 wm platform... no roms or hacking of any sort. just an unlocked phone and my at&t sim card.
Thanks!
I have t-mobile sim card from my phone with unlimited internet and 700 min. when i put this sim card in the t-mobile galaxy tab, it wan't late me use internet but show 3g network. i understand that is IMEI problem, t-mobile block internet access with regular phone sim cards. Yes you can but you will have to flash a custom EURO based ROM in order to do it and use the correct modem driver for your carrier.
There are several posts with instructions on how to do it here in the Galaxy Tab forums. Good Luck and be sure to read up before trying it. I have done it and its not too hard. Just be patient and read.
thanks, i was looking and cannot foud... i found and download euro rom, but it will give me 2g only, i don't want to use galaxy like a phone, i just need 3g internet connection.
to kable:
if you can drop me link, it will be so helpfully...and thank you for respond.
Have to use modem swither. 2g for calls and have 3g data.

modem swither dont work for me, already tried. the problem is when i'm going online, browser sand me back to t-mobile site.
Google -> "t-mobile redirect."
First post.
You can't use data with a phone SIM card without possibly doing something illegal that I wont go into in this thread. Basically, the network realizes you have a phone data plan and that you are not on a device approved for that phone plan.
