Hey guys,
glad to see that we finally got a g pad forum but since the upcomming nexus 8 will most likely be based on this pad it just makes sense. Yes I am just blabbering around but it makes sense if you google a little.
Gpad = LG-V500, there is a bluetooth certification from a LG-V510 device
Then we also got this:
http://www.mylgphones.com/lg-v510-is-this-google-nexus-8-tablet.html
Also, why is there not more marketing for this tablet???? Why do the stores in the US dont sell a lot of the g pads?
and then the nexus 10 2 is to be released in a week and it is said there might be another device:
http://tablet-news.com/2013/11/14/google-nexus-10-2-release-date-apparently-confirmed/
If there wont be a nexus 8 before christmas i will definetly get this beauty
Cheersguys
lets hope some devs find this tablet interesting!
I'm all about nexus phones but a tablet without SD card is another deal. I have a Nexus 7 2013 but it's definitely missing some screen estate and SD card slot...

I don't care how great the tablet functions/looks...if there is no SD card slot, then I would definitely pass on it. I'm sorry, but this is 2013, including a sd card slot should be a no-brainer!

I agree. The Google stuff looks great --- but no microsd, no sale. There are other fine choices out there.
Personally I don't think there will be a nexus 8. Maybe there originally was going to be and this is the original design for it.
The lg-510 is more than likely just this g pad but with a sim card/LTE ?
I'm personally done with nexus devices anyway. They're always buggy and now with the N5, Google is fragmenting the Nexus line with the exclusive features like the transparency and GEL.
I'd rather stick with CM.

The LG V510 is not the LTE version of the G Pad; that has another name. Source.
I didn't want to start a new thread but the sound from the speakers is poor especially at low level.... Sort of muffled. Is there any app or setting I can change. The rest of it is meh\ok ish, I mean software has some nice points though would flash CM in an instant.

I would love for the V510 to be a Nexus 8, but with all of the contradictory rumors floating around, there's no way to tell what might show up. The latest rumor is that the V510 is the Nexus 10 (2013). Of course, it's possible that none of this is true.

Was going to get that but it seems that tablet is plagued with issues (was really making me hesitant) especially touch screen issues and battery life after a few months. Google needs to dump Asus.
It will be a while since I'm seeing my iPhone 5 but I will definitely just add on the extra bucks and get this instead.

Its good to see a Nexus 10" line official. The specs are absolutely amazing and while I love my Xoom, I'll admit, I'm tempted.
While the specs are nice, I'm not tempted one bit. No expandable memory, no buy.
I'll be buying 1 for myself! It's beautiful!

Honestly I don't see why anyone would be excited about this if they already have a Android tablet? The only thing that really looks good is the screen. If you watched the video there is lag when the pages are turned in the magazine app. I could understand if this was done on older hardware but when brand new just released has lag then there is a problem. I think the nexus 7 is a better device.
This is just my opinion though. I have a 4g xoom that I use every day for work and play that does excellent. The only device that looks good enough to replace it is the galaxy note 10.1 if it ever comes to Verizon.

No WAN option, so it's not a "True Successor" just yet. Let's hope they don't take too long putting one out, though (and that it's GSM- not CDMA, with optional LTE).

The true successor will come from Motorola and no one else, I don't blame google for not having SD card, No nexus have any why give ammo to Microsoft to sue for fat 32, Next year when Google release their Motorola brand tablet and phone we will see a first. 5.0, lte, SD card with f2fs the new format from samsung , both hardware and software will be Google true first product..

no....they tried that with the Xoom 2 and failed horribly.
The Xoom was the G1 of tablets; a google experience device, a pre-Nexus device. The Nexus 10 is to the Xoom as the Nexus One was to the G1.
Branding is irrelevant.

And between the G1 and the Nexus One, you had the original T-Mobile MyTouch 3G and the original Motorola Droid which were the lead "Google Experience" devices for Android 1.6 and 2.0 respectively.

Why not? Even LG did a Nexus device, I still believe Google will make a new Motorola Nexus, because they bought the whole Motorola Mobility, they can easily control how the device will be done. And Xoom 2 was built before Motorola acquisition.

Why not what?
The point I was making was that the Xoom's successor did not need to be a Motorola device. The Nexus 10 is the first 10" GED/Nexus device since the Xoom and that's why it is, IMO, the first successor to the Xoom. The Xoom 2 may have shared the name but that's about it. Again, the point I'm making is that we finally have a new 10" Google device. OEM is irrelevant. What matters is that it is a Google/Nexus device.
I remain under the belief that "Google Experience Device" and "Nexus" are NOT the same. The Xoom is a GED - vanilla Android and a Honeycomb demonstration piece, but Motorola included 2 silly pieces of non-removable bloat ware in the form of games. Nexus products do not allow this. This further explains why the JB updates to the Xoom have been watered down, to make obvious that this is not a Nexus device. The absence of the "X" boot animation makes a clear statement to this fact.

Although a friend of mine warned me about LG quality and defects, I'm trusting Google.
But I am curious how many of true Nexus lovers would buy HTC Nexus with price of USD $ 700 with iPhone hardware quality ...
I would.
Also if someone have time and basic knowledge of excel and google docs it would be nice to see all problems in one document, shared so other users can contribute.
Thanks

I love HTC's build quality. Their phones are solid. I would do some unspeakable things for a new HTC Nexus, but paying $700 is not one of them.

I just want Samsung to make the next one, they make the best iPhone alternatives. Who wouldn't want a Nexus Note?

Samsung made 2 Nexus devices already. Myself and many others are glad LG has gotten their shot and that Samsung didn't make the Nexus 4. They build great phones and have always had great hardware(Their IPS screens have always shat on Samsungs OLED imo).
iPhone alternative? Just because Touchwiz looks horrible and a lot like how iPhone looks doesnt make it an "alternative". Despite how ugly Touchwiz is it's still light years ahead of iOS....
Alot of people would probably sell their first born child for a Nexus Note..I'm sure many that already have a Note would love the extra functionality along with raw Android. I'm somewhat surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Meh, my Nexus One died with the infamous power-button-ribbon-breaks issue that many of them had. Every manufacturer seems to have some flaw.
I did like the "feel" of the Nexus One better then the Galaxy Nexus, but I also like the feel of my Nexus 4.
I may be in the majority, but I actually with I could get a 4" high-ppi nexus phone...these are getting to big to use in one hand comfortably.
How easy it is to use a larger screen device can also be attributed to the user interface design. If all/some control are placed within easy reach when holding with one hand then I don't see the problem with single handed use of a large device.
Now if only they did that with the UI design. I've got big hands and it's a stretch for me to thumb the top left of the screen with one hand...can't imagine folks with smaller hands.

A phone of $700 price is ridiculous. People are so fed up of those already, that's why the Nexus 4, 7 and 10 are such a success. I am not saying manufacturers shouldn't make any money. This is what I was going to say. Just wish this wasn't true because for a power user, 16gb is not enough especially with all my nandroids and rom's and other ROM related files. =(
Having a nandroid in the cloud is just not practical especially if your phone cannot boot into Android OS. Having the radio with browser in the recovery would be awesome!

I feel the same way! This is why I don't support cloud and probably will never support cloud. I live in NYC and a lot of the time I'm underground or in an area where WiFi is not an option and signal strength is trash...ie: on the train, at work ect.
I have to make do with my 16gb, and I'm used to having 34gb and even then it wasn't enough. I've adapted and even though its not as bad as some make it seem...I still wish I had expandable storage, I would've gladly paid more for my n4.

I agree. I believe their goal was to break the market, which the N4 did...
Here's why they won't........I don't anticipate a 32gb model as the nexus 4 since Google I/O will be out with news about what's next.
History shows that in the fall, usually October, Google will announce the next Nexus model. Also the much anticipated and talked about rumor Motorola will launch the X phone is a good reason to believe that Google will not release the Nexus 4 with 32gbs.
Let's also not forget how LG dropped the ball and did not submit the Nexus 4 for use with Lte, causing Google to release an update to disable the the Lte from being used unless you ate on a old radio and 4.1.1 ROM.
With that said..... I would bet money on Google not launching a 32GB model of the Nexus 4.

Hey, don't be that fast to assume. I own a lot of tablets and my iPad is almost always my go-to device, mainly because I personally have no use for widgets so most Android tablet launchers are wasted on me.
for sure
You never know. All Nexus devices are sold at cost.
One of the big downfalls of the N7 was the lack of Video Out. Although, now with Android Sticks and the Ouyas, I'm not sure if it is really needed anymore. My N7 works so well that it would be hard to give it up, but they are still super nice and possibly able to sell for $100+. Right now, I'd say no... but once it is released, I'm sure I'll pick it up. Something typically always surprises me and makes it a no brainer.
The price is low enough that selling your old device > new device makes it a great buy.
The sad thing is that I need to sell my existing devices. I have a brand new, in the box, Nexus 7 32gb and my current N7 32gb. If I pick up a new one, my old lady will flip her lid.
So I am in no rush to grab one and I will probably wait it out to see if it is really worth the upgrade.

The reason I'm considering getting an iPad (it would be a Mini, by the way) is because iOS 7 has actually impressed me quite a bit in day-to-day use. I've also fallen in love with Jelly Bean over the last 5 months or so of using my Nexus 7. That leaves me in a quandary where I'm not partial to either and there are some compelling reasons to have one of each, especially the combo I'm considering.
I was going to, but not anymore. I broke my 8gb n7 about two weeks ago and have a nice payout from square trade, but the issue is that now I need my tablet. I have grown impatient with Google's lack of released info this year on dates and prices, however its safe to assume its going to be more expensive. I decided to grab a 32gb n7 that's presently $199 instead. Its still a healthy upgrade for me and I can use my old cases and accessories. I also like to play with ROMs so the older device will of course have better support for awhile.

The lack of tablet apps kind of discourage me to get the next n7...
I've had a 16GB N7 for almost a year and it's been a great tablet. Besides one issue I had with it not charging it has worked VERY well. I've never had any of the (somewhat) common issues like screen separation and it's still plenty fast. With that said I recently returned a new 32GB N7 that I purchased for $199 at Microcenter. I'm glad I did because the 32GB model is now $30 less at Staples. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it - zero build quality issues and it seemed noticeably faster than my 16GB model. I just don't want to get stuck with last years hardware if the new N7 is a big upgrade at a similar price.
In my opinion, it's unfair to compare an actual, available device to rumors, so I'm going to wait for official specs & price for the new N7 before making up my mind which one to buy.
I totally agree with you that the 32gb model is faster, esp loaded with cm10.1 and lean kernel. I also had an issue with one if the 32gb units, the staples mgr and I figured out they had a batch of units from batch D20 that were all defective with various issues. He broke out a D10 and its flawless. FYI if anyone sees any issues with theirs and what batches to look out for.

IMO these company's need to learn to give us what we want. I want a HDMI out, SD card. If the new Nexus does not have it, I'm not buying it.
There are to many other company's willing to put out a device that has what I want/need, so they will get my business.
Besides, even the new Sero 7 pro does everything I need it do to. Why would I need to buy a new Nexus with a faster processor and better resolution when after all, it's just a 7 inch tablet, not a PC. Once it got to the point where HD movies and games played without pausing or stuttering, what's the point of a faster processor?
I'll get the next on when/if my 32g dies! Not before.

Am I the only one that thinks tablet apps look like crap on 7" tablets in portrait mode? On a 10" tablet, sure they are great...but that is because you use them in landscape. 7" portrait is just too cramped IMO. I am OK with the lack of true tablet apps on the play store.....once I get a nexis 10 my view WILL change though.
Also, depending on what the current nexus 7 is going for around here I might pick it up. Extra power, double ram, and higher re screen would be awesome.

I for sure will get the next nexus 7, either that or the next nexus 10, not sure there, but I love the size of the 7 , but mine has screenlift real bad and is laggy and slow (original 16gb) so it sits around collecting dust

I saw some crazy article about the nexus 8, yes 8, and 10 being released on black Friday. Thoughts?

Nexus 8? Pshaw. I'm waiting for the Nexus-6. I hear Tyrell is supporting them for four years instead of just 18 months.

Doesn't make sense, the aforementioned article mentions the Nexus 8 to have an 8" display running 1920x1200 with 8GB memory, those specs just seem like scattered rumors pieced together.
Oh well, we shall see.
There will be no more NEXUS devices released this year. There is NO new Nexus 10 & the Nexus 8 is only a conceptual device that has been submitted to Google by two manufacturers, with a third supposedly also working on a conceptual device.
When any of those devices are anywhere near a release, you will see VERIFIABLE evidence. Like FCC filings that actually make sense, not just someone blankly stating their is some mystery FCC filing without giving any evidence. You will also see things like service manuals & warranty documentation leak out. This happens with every device Google, or any Android partner, has ever made. There is actual supporting evidence, just like the Nexus 4 & 5 & the 7 & the 7 2013. So far there has been nothing even close to legitimate pointing to any of these devices being anywhere near a release. Just rumor, speculation & a few FAKED screen grabs.

I would love to see a Nexus 8 device released, but I'm afraid you're right. If Google was going to release one, they would have to do it now in order to take advantage of holiday sales. There is no good evidence for one, at this point, and the door is pretty much closed for this season.
I went from an iPad Mini to a Nexus 7. I think 7" is a better size than 8".

Unless the phone size increases a whole bunch, next year's phone will be Nexus 5 (2014). Just like this year's Nexus 7.

What do you think of the LG - v510 then? It isn't g pad lte since that exists already: v507L.

Could just as easily be an LTE version for a different region, or even a carrier specific version. Again, no proof, just speculation & I seriously doubt even if it were a Nexus device that we'd see as thing this year.

Yeah, I also think Google will lauch the N10 somtime later this month
For Christmas Holiday, you know.
But I also believe "7" is better than "8". While if you go for 10 or above, then iPad is a better choice.
For the cost I would not say the iPad is better then the nex 10.

Dude, I HATE apple, but I will tell you flat out, hands down, the iPad & even the new KF HDX, both blow the Nexus 10 away handily. I use the N7 2013 as my primary, but have sold the N10 for an HDX 8.9 just as a media consumption device.
Samsung's processor & GPU is just inferior to the SD800 & adreno 330 & struggles with many events on the N10.

That's so obviously a fake render. No nexus cutout on the back? An Android 4.3 logo printed on it?

I said "for the cost". The Ipad has drawbacks as well considering it does not use Android. I guess it just depends on the user as well. I know many people that have the Nex 10 and have never mentioned any "struggling" issues but again it depends on the user and the cost. While the Ipad may perform better and have a better display you will pay steeply for it. For me the extra cost just is not worth it plus I really can never go back to a system like that. I would honestly rather have a customizable system like Android with a little bit lesser performance, lower cost than have an expensive, fast device that I cannot really customize.
Just my opinion though bro.
For the cost, yep. The KF HDX is cheaper than the N10 was when I looked at the Play Store last week. As for performance issues, just check out Google's product & bug forum, or even the threads here. Horrible touch screen issues for many.
I use a N7 for most things & found myself using the 10" tabs for media consumption. I've had or have nearly every decent 8" to 10.1" tablet made in the last few years & the HDX is by far the best performing tablet I've used. Once gapps are possible, well my large tab search for near perfection is over for a while. Telling you, the SD 800 & Adreno 330 combo is amazing.

I really doubt it.
Nexus phones are usually 2 years apart. Maybe the nexus 5 got released a bit before the 2 year mark.
Tablets are usually staggered 1 year apart. Nexus 7 - Nexus 10 - Nexus 7 2013 and next is the Nexus 10 2014 edition.
I just wish there would be more apps that would more geared toward tablets and there would be more productivity involved. For example the stock calendar is absolutely horrible and there is nothing that really fits tablet and my fancy on google play.
