I am not able to send sms on my note 3. When I try to send any message, it just shows 'sending' status and the message is not sent. One option I found is to clear the cache data from settings->application manager-> All-> Messages-> Clear data. Once this is done, all the messages that are stuck gets sent within few seconds. But after a while, same problem persists. Pls anyone with a permanent solution?

ok this problem started not too longa ago, max 3 days, i was texting normally then all of a sudden i get this message " Cannot recognise one or more recipients or the address is not valid. Would you like to send anyway?" message after every message that i send, first i thought it might be the wrong number but it happens to all new, and replied sms messages.. can any one help me
hard reset should do the trick.
also, did you happen to recently install an application to your storage card that relates to messaging and/or e-mail? if so i would uninstall from storage card and reinstall directly to your device.(before doing a hard reset)
hope this helps

Have you tried switching off your phone and then back on again....
It could be a trapped driver and a quick restart may clear it up.

You need to provide a few more answers here...
1. In which country are you using the phone?
2. Is it a carrier or SIM free?
If carrier who is the supplier?
3. Did you make any firmware alterations?
Re the Reset
1. Which method did you chose to perform a Factory Reset?
Did you try Settings>Privacy>Factory Data \reset
Hello,
I have a Huawei p1 with axis, it was fine until a week ago,
now it shows "timeout" whenever I browse the internet or open google play store, but whatsapp still works
but the weird thing is, if I use my phone as wifi hotspot, the notebook connected to it has normal connection (for browsing etc)
I already tried:
- switch to another provider, and it works!
- switch sim card, but the same provider, still timeout
- use my simcard with other phone, it works!
- reset factory, still timeout for browsing, whatsapp still works
please help

did u mean to reset factory once more or just clear the cache?
because I already reset factory my device three times since yesterday, and still no result
I even formated my sdcard
I have cleared playstore cache, and run it, but the loading animation never complete, then shows "connection timeout"
tried whatsapp-ing my friend, still works
could it because hardware error?

Send a message to operator and write about it.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I've looked everywhere for an answer and i cannot find one,
I have a rooted Nexus 4 with Franco Kernel and Xylon ROM on giffgaff
Whenever i receive a call i cannot answer it because this message shows up and i have to click 'OK' which hangs up, also at the end of outbound calls it shows this message.
This message only occurs when i call/ get called.
I have tried clearing the data from 'Phone' with no avail, also updated my ROM and Kernel. I have reset my Mobile Networks/Access Point Names to default but still this problem occurs. I will be grateful if anyone help and fixes this, Thanks
Hi, I had this problem too and searching around I found a solution that fixed this problem twice for me:
Go to settings -> applications -> all and go to Phone. Clear data & clear cache. Do the same thing with Phone/Messaging Storage apk. You will loose your contacts but it fixed it.
I have my phone contacts sync with my google account so in 10 secs my address book was back and no more "process" problem.
Apparently some kind of corrupted contact causes this, so every time the phone tries to access your contacts and match the phone number, the process crashes.
I hope this helps.
Best,
Ive cleared the Phone data but Phone/Messaging Storage is all blanked out so i cannot click on it? :/ Any ideas?

Were you able to clear your address book? In the end it seems that is what fixes it. Try to delete all your contacts and reboot. Than you can tell if it helps. As far as I know, the next option is to factory reset. That's what I did the first time I got the error, but later it came back because of some bad contact. And if you do that test it by calling yourself from another phone before adding contacts.

I have cleared all my contacts manually and rebooted the phone but still it comes up with the message, Im thinking that i need to clear the data from Phone/Message Storage but i probably clicked force stop on it before and i need to 'Start' it again.
I would just factory reset and flash the rom again.
Honestly i havent got a clue what happened but i did a factory reset and my custom Kernel and ROM were still there and i tried calling myself and it fixed it, somehow :/ Thanks guys

Redownload and reflash the ROM including Gapps, if it still doesn't work then try a different ROM. Make sure you re-download the ROM though, since you may be getting this error due to corruption that occurred when it was downloaded.
Edit:
Oh you fixed it. Never mind.
There's a chance my error started because I flashed the. 33 radio after the ROM and gapps. The correct way is first the radio, than RoM, than gapps. I don't know if that's your case, but be aware of that.
have this occasionally on cm10.1 flashing different nightlies.

This problem is mainly caused by corrupt or incompatible APN predefined settings. Try clearing all of them and just using the one you need.
To speed up the process, navigate closing the error as many times as required to the apn list, and once in the list, toggle airplane mode ON, that will stop the force close to show up, now delete all the entries, and toggle off airplane mode.

First thank you for the fast response.
I have just updating my rom (from cm 10 to cm 10.1) and when the system starts after the end of booting the error appears.
I have activated the airplane mode and no changes the error is continuing and when I go to settings --> the press on more in networks it says: "unfortunately the process com.android.settings has stopped".

Hi,
Just bought my note 3 as an upgrade to my note 2.
Decided that rooting would be a good option for both at this time as it meant I could use titanium backup pro to transfer all my data and apps over using my 64gb memory card.
Both phones rooted fine via ODIN.
Backup up fine and apparently restored fine but now when I go into settings and then notification panel (either via the settings menu or the shortcut in the home pull down) it immediately says
'Unfortunately, settings has stopped'
What I have noticed is that the notification drop down menus are now in the same order/layout as my note 2.
What I don't know is how to clear whatever cache or program is stopping me from opening to rearrange it now.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
I have the same problem with my rooted Note 3. I have seen other threads that got the same message but in other areas of settings, and they suggested to Factory Reset the phone. I don't want to do that. I'm hoping someone has a different solution.
hey,
my solution:
-) download the original rom
-) flash with odin
-) you will got the same problem again: unfortunately settings has stopped (its okay)
-) go in samsung ORIGINAL "recovery-mode" IMPORTANT
-) do all wipes
-)enjoy
after that you are on original samusng rom (if u use4.3 rom you will get knox! it is better to use 4.2.1 (if u can))
now you can start all from new, root, cwm, rom...
i got a note 2..
EASY
Sure 4.2.1 in a note 3 - seems legit

As legit as mine running Froyo!
Regards to OP - Unroot your phone via SuperSU, reflash Stock ROM. That will fix your settings has stopped issue. -- As for using N2 stuff on an N3 from a backup, You may have to read up a bit more, it's not as simple as one might think I'm afraid.
Mine runs iOS 7 with iH8Sn0w Jailbreak *lol*

Using titanium can give these errors. I stopped using it a while back. Use Google to back up your apps and Samsung to backup calls sms etc.
Flash your phone with all the wipes and sign in to your Google account and it will restore your apps and then sign in to your Samsung account and restore and should have all stuff back and a fully functional phone

I did this and it did not fix the issue with settings has stopped. Guess I'll have to do a wipe.

No problem. I'll do it again and wipe cache and see what happens. It's late here, so I'll do it tomorrow.
OK, let us know how you do :good:
Everything is good now. No "Unfortunately setting has stopped" messages.
This is what I did:
- Unrooted via SuperSU
- Reflashed Stock ROM via Odin (ROM downloaded from SamMobile)
- Booted into Recovery Mode and did wipe cache and wipe data/factory reset
- Rooted
- Reinstalled all apps via AppBrain
- Spent 2 days reconfiguring my apps.
I didn't do any restores with Titanium Backup. That may have been the cause of the original problem.
Thanks everybody for your help
Glad you got sorted, reconfiguration of apps is a nightmare! - just done it myself with that new kitkat launcher on the play store. Took forever.

I got your solution for you! I have the same problem on my non rooted Verizon Galaxy Note Pro. As an attempt to work around it, I installed "Galaxy S4 Style Settings", and sure enough, I got to my settings. What surprised me though, is that after running that app once, the regular settings UI works properly.
I'm holding on to the app incase the error comes back. I haven't had a chance to dig up why this fixed it.
