[Q] Note 3 Emails - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
I am a new owner of the SGN3 and i am very pleased with the device.
However i have an issue regarding the native emai app on touchwiz coz it doesnt filter the spams emails
Does anyone knows how to prevent the spams for showing up in the email app ? (I have tried settings up a filter for any email having the world bulk in the object,it does regroup them but i can't assign a default behavior like erase automaticly etc) I halso saw there is an option to add emails adresses and domain known to be spams but it would take hours if i wanted to entered them manually
Thanks in advance

email bug

I am having a problem with the email app, and wonder if anyone has seen this or can suggest a solution.
When I open the app to add an email account, I get a window which (patronizingly) explains how I will be done in 2 easy steps; I hit Next; I get a window asking for url and password ECXEPT this time the Next box is grayed out. I can't hit Next! There is also a "Manual Setup" button next to the Next button but it is also gray and I cannot press it either. My only option is to escape. I reset to factory settings. Same problem. There must be a defect in my factory settings? Is this a symptom of a bigger problem? Can I fix this, or download a fresh copy? How do I check email?
thanks to anyone who can solve this riddle,
alphanzo
have you tried entering your email and password?
yeah its not URL is email you put in.And the email app sucks anyways. go to market place and download k-9. Its much better, with the same type of easy setup.
Of course I've tried that. For instance, I type: mail.pas.rochester.edu. and [password], still nothing. And why would "manual setup" also not work? I don't want load my phone with redundant apps, and iif this one is not working how do I know there isn't a greater problem?
Its not asking for a url or your email server ip. Its asking for your actual email address. ie [email protected]ter.edu or whatever it may be.

What type of email are you trying to set up? I had the same problem when trying to set up my hotmail account. It wont accept much except gmail, i think?
it accepts most pop3/imap style email boxes
E-mail configuration on G1
Hi friends,
I have another problem with e-mail (POP3/IMAP) application on G1.
Everything's working fine except the e-mail automatic checking (that could be set up on some period of time) and deleting messages from the server.
1. Automatic checking (for POP3 or IMAP settings) is not working - don't know why... So, I have to check e-mail manually by clicking in Inbox or using refresh button
2. Deleting messages (for POP3 settings) is not working at all. Even if it is set up to delete messages from the server and message is deleted - it is going to Trash folder, then if it is deleted from Trash and refreshed it is still existing on the server and in the Trash folder on G1. I really don't know how to get it working... I have tried a few settings and it is not removing messages from the server at all.
Is anybody have it working? Thanks in advance for any help!
Regards.

It is the same for me using [email protected] with the correct password, just keeps saying that the username or password is wrong, which it isnt.

Facebook real time push and default email account

Hi guys,
I recently flashed my phone and 2 weird things happened:
1. my facebook no longer push notifications to me real time like it used to do before. I've searched through all the settings and could not find a parameter which does this. Any advise guys?
2. I have 3 gmail accounts running simultaneously. One main one and 2 others are for receiving spams from advertisers etc. Everytime I try to share an article via email, it kept bringing up the spam gmail account as default in the send account field. How do I change it to my main one?
Thanks in advance guys.

[Q] Gmail Refresh Bug

Hi Guys,
Quite often I see that the Gmail app on my N7 (second generation) does not show the latest emails even after a complete sync. I have to switch between folders (say from Inbox to Priority-Inbox, and back to Inbox) to see the new emails. I know I am not the only to see this issue as I have seen a few redditors complaining about it as well, but I was wondering if any know of a solution to this problem.
Most often i have to do the folder switch trick as I do not know if the list of emails is up to date. This is a big annoyance.
Thanks,
nitro
I've never had problems with Gmail...
on an other note, you're posting this under the wrong forum, this should be in Questions and Answers
I have found no way to check all you mail accounts at once in "combined view" in the mail program. You need to go to each one and refresh it to check it.
Thats is of course if you DO NOT have your push setup.

Possible that I am being checked/hacked ChatOn/WhatsApp remotely ?

My girlfriend and I are using ChatOn for chatting, sometimes WhatsApp. She uses the Galaxy S2. She thinks that her ex-boyfriend is checking/stalking her, while I have said that it would be nearly impossible that he could actually see the messages we exchange. He probably can access her router at home (he installed it). We were using ChatOn (instead of WhatsApp) thinking that he would not know that, or would be familiair with that (it is not that popular over here).
This night, 2am, I received 2 smileys in the ChatOn chat, from my girlfriend (portraying a spitting smiley, which we never use, and we were talking angry and frustrated about the ex-boyfriend). My girlfriend says she cannot have send those 2 smileys. She would need to have logged into her Phone (long password) and she was definitely asleep at that time.
My questions to the biggest experts here:
- Can somebody really get into Chaton, and send messages on your behalf, remotely ? The ChatOn accounts are not linked to anything we do not have Samsung accounts and we have not given access to any other account within ChatOn (I know it would be possible to use webChatOn, but you should give permission for that I think from within the ChatOn Mobile App)
- The same for WhatsApp ?
- Everything send through WiFi is encrypted in the App itself, so text would not be visible from the router ? You can only see encrypted data ? And it would be impossible to send something from the account through the router ?
- Would there be any explanation for the smileys ?
We are getting quite nervous ....
Unfortunately yes..
It is possible that her bf may have access to her whatsapp by mac spoofing. He may know the mac address of her phone.
MAC spoofing is a technique for changing a factory-
assigned Media Access Control (MAC) address of a
network interface on a networked device. The MAC
address is hard-coded on a network interface
controller (NIC) and cannot be changed. However,
there are tools which can make an operating system
believe that the NIC has the MAC address of a user's
choosing. The process of masking a MAC address is
known as MAC spoofing. Essentially, MAC spoofing
entails changing a computer's identity, for any
reason, and it is relatively easy.
The changing of the assigned MAC address may allow
the bypassing of access control lists on servers or
routers , either hiding a computer on a network or
allowing it to impersonate another network device.
MAC spoofing is done for legitimate and illicit purposes
alike.
He might have spoofed his phones mac address and assign hers. This way whatever replies she gets will be received by him......but still the question is that if he knows the mac address
You should change the router config asap. Also.. Does your gf use a ROM installed by the ex? My advice its flash a new fresh ROM and change every app password ,including emails

Quite Possible
Especially for the older versions of chat-on app (2012-12-04 and before), do not use Public WiFi networks. The communication between client and server is not encrypted (whereas Whatsapp encrypts before sending). the Session can easily be intercepted or even spoofed. Though it requires a little Technical skills for Spoofing. But its not impossible. You have to judge it from the Ability of her Ex.
If the Chat On app is the updated one then no need to worry as it uses the AES encryption, but still the files being uploaded/downloaded are not encrypted, and hence can be intercepted.
Change wifi pass... Make it complicated alphanumeric with numbers
Use wpa2psk on wifi
To do an arp spoof he would need to be on the same network. Thus do the above ASAP
Whatsapp Video Limit Problem
You want To send videos larger than 16Mb through Whatsapp?
yes, You can send Just Follow some steps

I don't think someone can send messages on your behalf but yes your messages could be read very easily. That's the reason why chat apps like Photo4tune are coming up with innovations such as fire messaging and self destruct pics to eliminate the provacy concerns of apps such as whatsapp which sell our data to big shot companies.
identify the pic sent to from whatsapp database
is it possible to identify to whom the pics have been sent to from the database files of someone else ?
@MattRob:
Try Threema instead of WhatsApp or ChatOn, here it would be really impossible to compromise the messages, because it uses real End-to-end encryption.

I think that BF using any softwares to control remotely like android lost, etc,, check any unwanted apps installed on it.
My advice is to install a new ROM, i prefere official roms, and change all passwords set in phone (email,fb,twitter .....), also change router config to avoide any technique of hacking.

I may have hit on something big. It is possible to "jump" into another person's Whatsapp account and send and receive messages and even change settings like profile picture and account name. Initially to set this up, the victim's phone is required but at the end it is not and all this can be done remotely. Both the hacker's and the victim's phones need to be rooted, unfortunately. Use an app like Titanium Backup and backup the victim's whatsapp and get that backup and restore the app data on the hacker phone and open Whatsapp and that's it. To reuse the hacker phone's original whatsapp, a seperate backup of it can be restored.
It is possible to create an application that can be installed in a non-rooted phone, with the ability to root it (applications that can do this merely, already exist) and make an application data copy that can be shared via a network (like the internet) to another party that can use an application (even the same one) that uses this data and jacks (takes-over or 'shares') the Whatsapp account on the device the 'application' was primarily install on.

Yes there are ways
There are few ways to achieve this. Changin wifi password with wpa/psk and making sure there is no app that helps x access phone info will make sure that its safe. Read my article to understand the hacking techniques for whatsapp

Email isn't working properly since update?

My work email is through Zimbra. All my filters for emails will work on any desktop version, even my iPad, but they filtering will not work on the email app on my phone or my Galaxy Tab 3. My Note is stock and I have done a complete factory wipe since I started having this problem. Any help would be welcomed. At my work the IT department double checked all my incoming settings and outgoing settings and all the the way they need to be. I get so many different emails from so many departments I miss my foldering for organization. Right now all my emails dump into my inbox. Ugh.
My problem with the Stock e-mail on my exchange account is that notifications are annoying. On the notification bar, they display 20 "new emails" that I've already opened on my phone. Anyone have any idea on how to fix it? Or have a good alternative?
