[REQUEST] Facebook 4.X .xap - Windows Phone 8 General

I've always loved the modern UI style of Facebook before it transformed into the generic format that it is today. I enjoyed the fact it was different and it looked amazing. I'm hoping a dev can work on it and update it even and perhaps even clean it up a little. No better place to ask for this than here. I'd appreciate your input , my cronies.

[Q] Basic questions about Android and its 31 flavors

Hello. I have been following XDA since my first HTC phone the HTC Touch Pro 2. I was impressed by an ex girlfriends HTC phone when I had to dismantle and replace its screen. My current gf now owns that phone. I have been flashing my phones for quite some time and especially love the energy roms. Recently I have been much more busy with my career and life and have left behind many of my former passions (like wow). I have an HD2 and have just flashed it to a "rafdroid" build since it had HTC sense and seemed somewhat familiar. I already have to say I love the Android build. But I do have some questions that are beyond what I have had time to read up on. First off it is slow, really slow. I know I am doing an "SD" build which means I am running the OS off of my storage card. I assume that has a lot to do with it. I am ready to give up my windows build completely but hope it lends a hand in speed. I used to flash all of the time but have really grown comfortable with the SBP shell interface. I realize Andoid could be a lot more but I really want a beautiful snappy build that my phone can stand up to. When I bought the HD2 it was the phone to have but that has been a while now. What I am really looking for is advice as to is it worth it to leave a dying OS behind with my current phone (now that I have a family I am stuck with the same toys for a while) and how can I optimize it to its maximum ability. Also I haven't really even looked into it but can I flash my girlfriend's TP2 to a fast stable Android build as well? I do Windows support for a living and have always been a Windows guy but have recently become frustrated with its inability to share information such as calendars and tasks without an Exchange server (which is a given at work). I have began using Gmail and its associated apps more and more and so far am colored impressed. Any advice is appreciated and I know I could eventually dig up all of the info given enough time (but I am sneaking on the PC right now as the kids sleep). It seems logical that a non "SD build" would be a lot faster but before I lose my Windows GUI can someone confirm? Thank you again.
Search ultimate Droid in the nand forum... this my friend is the rom for your every wish... clean crisp & stable.... oh oh.... and FAST! Ive flashed several roms on my HD2 and and about 50x that number on my vibrant
... this by far is an amazing one to have stumbled acrossed... hope this helped

I have not tried he Ultimate Droid yet bit I have tried several Android ROMs and my favorite so far is Hyperdriid. But it is a nonsense Gingerbread ROM, and you said you like sense. Bit the main reason I posted in your thread is to tell you to check out my guide in my sig as it will help you out and I have two seperate guides on how to install Android on your HD2 at the top of my guide.
All the ROMs I have tried though have been very smooth and I find I am really liking the Clockwork Mod Recovery. I just got to switch from MAGLDR to cLK so I can charge my HD2 when it is off and so I can use ROM Manager.
Ultimate I believe is the same Creator I tried hyper and in defense think ultimate Droid is superior still should atleast try it lol later man

[Q] How About Hildon?

hey there !
the title is somewhat self-explanatory, but i'll just have a go at clearing up what i mean.
you see, hildon is, of course, the ui used in maemo 5- i.e the n900.
except for some proprietary coding done by nokia . other than that,- open-source. is it possible?
but apart from that, hildon is fully functional. i stumbled upon a website, "showing off" their new "Cordia HD", which is basically Meego (!) using hildon instead of the somewhat crappy meego ui.
wouldn't it be cool to see hildon reborn as a launcher on android market, or even as a custom rom or patch. that would be really cool!
trust me, i would've done it myself if it weren't because i REALLY suck at coding. cant do anything.
this thread i mostly made to give some attention to the matter, and to share any progress, if anyone have done anything like it... or ever will...
Hildon-on-Android would be a HUGE project. I'm not aware of such a project in the works.
Realistically, if like me you really like the Hildon UI you only have 2 phone choices:
1. A used N900. (cheap)
2. A new N9. (expensive)
But you can dual-boot Maemo and Android on a N900.

Well, i know it would require a lot of re-engineering, i've understood that for quite a while
I was actually gonna buy a n900, but went for the desire z instead. Half because n900 is so choppy 18(!) mm. And because desire z is faster, with the "cool hinge".
Are you sure about that with n9? It runs meego, and the standard ui is qtor gtk i recall, am i right?
As i said in my first post, this thread was mainly to stir everything up a bit. Cheers

I think this is a customized OS based on Android.
I owned a "Meizu M8" previously and this also had a similar looking OS. It was Windows Mobile 6 with some "apps" on top developed by Meizu (chinese cellphone company) that changed the whole look to what you see in the video above...
When I was leaving the Meizu scene there were some rumors about the next phone gen using Android as OS...
Oh and I don't recommend porting... It hasn't had that much additional functionality in the past and was full of bugs. Everytime two bugs where fixed four new ones appeared... This could be because of WM6 but I think it's also because of Meizu not being that experienced at developing (compared to Google/Apple). And of course it would be a hell of work to get this (chinese) thing adopted to western language - there were several compatibility issues although we had some very good coders working on it.
It does actually look good, anyone want to try it?

I'd like the widgets and the lock screen but the rest would depend on how well it preforms
Looks very nice!

Questions from an android users planning to switch

Hey guys! What's up? Well I currently own a one x and I'm happy with it, however I'm still planning to make the switch. Not to the lumia 900 but perhaps the lumia 920(when it comes out of course) .
So basically I might be selling this phone . Now I just wanted to ask the following and please try to be as honest and not bias.
Would you guys in all honesty say that windows mobile 8 is more fluid than android?
To users who have used android and winmo os, what is your take on this? Is browsing nice and smooth ?
Anyone here who has been using android for a while and made the switch to winmo here have any regrets? How well to social networks work performance wise (facebook, Twitter, etc.)
One thing I'm particularly worried about is that I buy the 920 and it ends up getting a mini package with not much support (win 7.8).. what's your take on this ?
I hope this thread is not in the wrong place I thought posting in the lumia 900 section andnd speaking to Nokia users is the closest way ill find the answers I'm looking for.
Thank you guys. Of course once the device is out I will test it in the shop as well. But till then I would like to read your feed back. Thanks in advance
Edit: do you guys have custom roms like android users? (A question I thought i would add to the list ad well)

Well, we don't know. Not many people have seen WP8 yet. But if WP7 is anything to go by, yes, it is very much more fluid and smooth than Android is.

You always kind of pine for that new hot app that isn't out on WP7... But in general no, I personally haven't had any regrets.

That's all built in the OS. There are of course 3rd party apps for them. The Twitter app sucks at the moment, Facebook is nice.

My opinion is that because of the switch to Windows 8 shared code, the future is much brighter than it was before.
Current Windows Phone is definitely more smoother and more reliable than my Android. Here is a good video of the social aspect of WP.

Thank you for the video. So basically out of the box one does not feel like they have to smack a custom Rom onto it for the sake of making it a good user experience?
Thanks for the information guys. Haha! I hope the screen size of the lumia 920 doesn't feel much different(smaller) in size compared to my one x because I'm so used to this size.

[Q] New phone

Hi everyone
I’m new to this forum and forums in general so I hope I’m in the right place for my question.
I can upgrade my Galaxy S 3 in December and I was looking at the HTC One but my carrier keeps trying to talk me out of it and is trying to sell me on the Galaxy S 4 or the LG G2.
What I would like to know is witch phone you would choose and why and not just because of specs but also just personal reasons why you would pick the one over the other.
Thank you.
Go with the HTC One
I have tried Samsung and LG and I prefer HTC sense to all the other interfaces. HTC corporate is the only manufacturer I know of that provides support for unlocking the bootloader, etc. to promote open development.... like what takes place here. I was very pleased with my Evo3d, and HTC blew me away with the One, which I currently own. I have experienced issues with all other brands. Also, the custom rom selection is unbelievable. I am running ViperOne 3.1 and it is by far the best I have ever seen or used. Hope this helped.
Hi
I'm happy with HTC since as said bl unlocking is officially supported.
I don't like Samsung coz of preinstalled apps I didn't need. The other thing is their whole marketing strategy which I can't stand.
No experience with LG phones, but their DVD writer rocks @ almost cheapest price

Thank you very much you just made me make up my mind especially because of the boot loader and open development since that is exactly what I am wanting to start playing with.
Happy to help

Happy to help! One thing I didn't mention is I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the camera on the HTC One.....the new technology is astounding and the most important aspect of all the additional light (200x's more) allowed into the pixels is the shutter speed is almost instant, and low light shots are clear. You wont miss a shot an you can probably print 8 x 10 photos just fine. If you are rooting, check out the Viper Roms. I have tried a lot and found theirs are very stable and carry the most customizations.
