Kit Kat - Did they finally fix the Bluetooth keyboard problem? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I am one of those people whose Bluetooth keyboard stopped working on my N7 after the update to 4.3.
For anyone else that had this issue and has upgraded to 4.4, is the problem finally fixed?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Yes, it works perfectly. I tested it with a Logitech keyboard and Swype, it finally recognizes even german characters like Ä, Ö or Ü :fingers-crossed:

Awesome news, thanks !!!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

I never tested this on 4.3, but I reconnected by BT keyboard and this morning and it was working fine for my 5 second test.

I finally got a copy of the 4.4 ota zip and did a sideload. My Bluetooth keyboard does work like a charm again ! Finally !

What about wii remotes?
I seriously went back to 4.1.2 so my wii remote and flash would work again.
I know flash sorta works on 4.4 but it's perfect on 4.1.2.

Download wiimote controller.
Google how to connect wii remote to nexus 7.
Follow the instructions
It only works on 4.1.2 and earlier tho.
Thats why i went back to 4.1.2 and asking if it works on 4.4 because they changed something with bluetooth that broke the ability to connect to wii remotes in 4.2 i believe.

Nope, wiimote controller still gives the same "no route to host" error it's given since 4.2 on the latest KK.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu............
Why is this such a task? To either fix or to develop for? It was almost two years ago that I was using a wiimote with the same phone I have now, the only difference is the software, the hardware is perfectly capable... So disappointing.

You have to be rooted I believe or you get no route to host even on 4.1 so i'd like a rooted KitKat use to try for giggles again with the wiimote app. from all the research I pull it's not fixed. something about the stack missing the ability to accept pairless devices. It's killing me too I built custom wiimote controllers for android and only way to use them on 4.3 is a annoying CSR dongle with OTG.

I haven't been able to get it to work on my SGS3 running CM11. However, I heard rumors of this app (Uh, can't post links. Search the play store for "USB/BT Joystick Center GOLD") working. I'm going to try the demo version of it when I get home this evening.

The "USB/BT Joystick Center Gold" has a free version that you can install to test and see if the paid version will work on your device as-is, or if you will need to order an external dongle to connect to your device. For us NOOK HD/HD+ folks on CM10.1 and higher, we might as well abandon the WiiMotes... for now.

Sixaxxis Controller Capatability

It's a new app that lets you bluetooth your PS3 controller to your Android phone, but only works on devices / software implementations that support the protocol.
Any ROMs that work with this? I'm running ACS Frozen 1.1, no luck.

Short story: This lets you use the PS3 controller as a controller for your emulator of choice (NES, SNES, N64, PS One, etc), for your non-gimpy Starfox 64 delight.
Wow, this would be an awesome toy.
Just tried it on EPICUREAN SCrAMbLED EGgs22 v4 and no go :'( "Error: Missing required protocol".
I wonder exactly what protocol is needed, and how hard it would be to port to different hardware platforms (like ours).
From their site <10char>:
Additionally, it is incompatible with most HTC devices and some newer Samsung devices. This is due to the required bluetooth protocol not being implemented on these devices. We are actively looking into a work around, but currently the only solution is to install a custom firmware, such as Cyanogenmod, that supports the required protocols.

It shouldn't be ROM-dependent per 'se, but I was curious if it was fixed in EG22. Apparently not.

So does anyone know how hard it would be to implement the standard android stack into custom roms. Is it simply a matter of switching the files or are there a lot of communication issues to deal with when changing bluetooth stacks. As I recall there was a custom stack built for my old touch pro that hadn't been too difficult for someone of decent knowledge to make, so hopefully its a similar situation.

It would take significant hacking.
Bluetooth is built into standard android (AOSP) via BlueZ. Samsung with their TouchWiz uses a custom stack instead. TouchWiz pretty much infests every android file.
CM7, whenever it becomes stable, should fix it, being AOSP.

I was playing Muffin Knight with the Wiimote this weekend.

SixAxis app does not work with N10 :(

Well...I finally rooted and unlocked my device today only to find out that the sixaxis app does not work with the N10. It always fails to configure bluetooth and ends up messing up the WiFi and requiring a reboot. Huge downer as this is one of the reasons I bought an N10 was to use my PS3 controller on it.
Has anybody had any luck with Sixaxis and the N10?
Did you run the compatibility checker on it? If that doesn't help, you should email the developer. He probably just needs to update it for 4.2.
Yeah. It doesn't even load the local Bluetooth address. I'm not sure if he even supports the app anymore as there has not been an update on the website since December 2011. I emailed but curious if anyone has gotten it to work...
Edit: never mind. Posted on the play store that hes fixing it!

[Q][APP] PS3 Sixaxis Controller - Touch Emulation

Update: fixed with latest update.
Anyone that has an S4 and uses the sixaxis controller app; have you managed to get touch profiles working?
Games that natively support game pads work fine, though those which require manual touch profiles do not (for me at least).

I believe you can connect the PS3 controller to the phone using a cable without needing root (could be wrong though)

Have been trying to get touch profiles to work on the S4 for quite some time until I realized it wasn't just me.
Really hope this can be fixed with a Sixaxis app update. Are there any other alternatives for now? I'm guessing not.

Yes. I do that and it works, but only works for some games. I would like to map out the buttons on unsupported games. So far I need root for to do that because the apps available are meant for phones that do not have PS3 compatibility by default.

I tested on Dead Trigger, follow the instructions carefully, but they don't work.

After they shut down the servers for setting them up, I quit using it. If you use cm 10. 2 with amp support and cheap cast its almost like it still works, but i haven't taken the time to put it on yet. There are guides. Don't trash it though. There are still people that will have uses for them as a desktop computer.
I haven't used mine in 6 months either but I am gonna dust it off and try to load 10.2 on it next week now that the hdmi and spidf are working. Does anyone know what keyboard and mouse combos work? I thought it was a Microsoft wireless 800 combo that I was using last time with wireless adb since there's only one USB.

I just installed cm 10.1 using the method posted by user ianandamy. Works great and my input methods are a Microsoft wireless mouse with with an OTG cable connected to the Q, and I have a wireless Bluetooth keyboard. The only things I would like to see fixed are the primal LED lighting function, and a way of powering off the Q other than unplugging it.

If you install CM on it and then install cheapcast, you can cast to it as if it was a chromecast.
since putting CM11 on this device it feels and works amazing!!
-full screen immersive mode
-transparency
-snappy
-play store works perfectly

Mirrorlink vs MHL Appradio3

So I just bought the appradio3 for my car for use with my S4 and I'm wondering what is the best way to connect it. Ideally I would like full mirroring of my phone to the radio. I already ordered the android kit and the mirrorlink cable so I can chose how I want it set up later and return the other if I don't want it. I found the full screen mirror apk for drivelink already and have it installed currently. ARliberator currently does not support appradio 3.
The question I'm wondering is if drivelink will work with aosp roms as currently I'm using Task's aokp, or will I need to switch to a Samsung based rom, or google edition rom.
No one here has the radio or tried using mirrorlink on aosp?
I've been using Sony xav 601bt with mirror link. Using a modified app of mirror link that allows full mirroring. I have stock s4 on 4.3 with no issues. It can be a little laggy.
Btw I installed my friends app 3 and I absolutely hated it. Requires an additional kit and doesn't allow full mirroring. Also was disappointed in the deck it self just wasn't as great as I thought.
Good luck on your choice.

Got it to work. It took a minute to get the app radio app working. Had to connect the usb first then enable blue tooth. The phone booted to the default appradio screen then once I hit the home button on my phone I had full screen mirroring.

Screen Standby doesn't work with Android 4.3. It seems to be a bug in 4.3 and the developer hasn't found a workaround. Screen Standby works on Samsung 4.4 roms though.

That must be why it severely sucks atm with my 4.3 rom. Haven't found a 4.4 rom I like yet unfortunately, everyone is missing at least one thing I want.
I'm not sure if it's already resolved, but there's an app for that. It's called ARUnchanged. But you have to have root access in order for ARUnchanged to work.
