Hi, I was trying to flash back to stock using the utility for the RAZR M. I was able to successfully flash back but then the OTA update stuck me in AP Fastboot Flash (s). The only screen I can get to says:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)

eMMC Info: Size 8GB
Device Is LOCKED(I did unlock this no idea why it is saying locked), Status Code:0

Connect USB
Data Cable (or USB Connected)
downgraded security version
update gpt_main version failed
Failed to hab check for gpt_backup:0x35
failed to load GPT
CID Read Failure

This is the only screen I have been able to get to. I have looked around and haven't found any answers. Anything is appreciated.

Hello Developers,
I am a HK Version Hero user. My region started the OTA 2.1 update for HERO.
I have already restore my Nanbackup to the first 1.5 backup.
When it finished the download, my phone reboot to the recovery mode and start the update and prompted:
E:No signature (231 files)
E:Verification failed
Installation aborted.
My need rom version should be 2.73.721.91.
Anyway that I can update to the new stock rom?
Thanks for the help !!
I got the link for the first OTA download, but I am a new user I cannot post it out.
Is it I just delete the recovery.img file? and it will work?
Thanks again

No, you'd have to re-sign the zipfile. If a file is added/removed or editted, the hashes don't match anymore and no one will be able to flash it.
Learn how to re-sign, or just upload it @ multishare as-is, and request re-signing of it. Mayb someone will help you out .
just take the recovery img out of the ruu and flash it then try to update.Should work then
I have the same problem. I really didnt understand what you just said..
My file is a .zip and can not be flashed with flashrec.
can you explain better for a n00b like me?

you don't flash files with flashrec, you flash them from recovery mode.
and just because something is a .zip doesn't mean it can be flashed. it has to be signed with the appropriate update script.
It like this.
I got an OTA for the 2.1. This generated an error when updating. So i thought i just download the file and do it from recovery mode.
Downloaded the file from here: liveimage.htc.com//OTA_Hero_ChungHwa_3.31.751.1_R-2.73.751.13_release048gnt2ecw16ubyr.zip
The link is not active anymore.
But i still get the same error.
I tried to do a factory reset and do the update after that, but without any luck.
I know this is the update for my phone, but i cant do it. And you guys speak about signing the file before, but i dont know how.
Probably same error for topic starter.
to do what i said you have to boot the phone in recovery.take the files out of the update.zip (or if it a RUU go HERE) in the .zip file should be boot.img,recovery.img,userdata.img,system.img,HBOOT and a few others....
Take out the recovery.img
and flash via fastboot (turn phone one holding back)
open cmd window (windows key + r) type cmd
fastboot flash recovery (drag and drop recover.img into cmd window) press enter
Then try updating
I dont get it to work.
I take out the recovery.img
Turn the phone on by holding 'back' while power on. (Screen with three android skaters)
Then i plug in the usb.
The text 'FASTBOOT' change to 'FASTBOOT USB'
Open cmd (windowskey + r and type cmd adn enter)
Drag and drop the recovery.img to command window and press enter.
This makes the DVD burning application on the computer to start and wants to burn the file.

Maybe you should use fastboot - the program for your pc?
The steps that were told to you were right, but I think you didn't do the last one as you should. Once in the command-line, you have to type "fastboot flash recovery " (yep, there's a space at the end) and then write the path of the recovery image (i.e., if it's in C:\asd\recovery.img, it would be "fastboot flash recovery \asd\recovery.img"), or drag and drop the file to the cmd, and it will write the path.
You know where to get this fastboot program...
I only find this from 2008. Should be a better one with not so much tweaking?

Nope, not really, I use linux.
Thanks for all the help!! I finally upgraded.
I restore to my 1.5 backup and down the update part by part.
I pull out the recovery.img and zip it back and re-sign it, copy to my phone and rename it to Update.zip and flash the first part. Reboot and copy the OTA2 to the phone and also rename it to Update.zip, flash it again. Final reboot, its now the official 2.1 android update. Also the root is still there.
OTA1
Badongo file 23546527
OTA2
Badongo file 23546783
THANKS again!!!
(sorry about the link, they won't let me post it ><)

i dont have flashed recovery so how would i do nandroid restore ?
I have a Droid X that I tried flashing back to stock, and now I'm stuck. I've flashed it before with no problems, now I'm seeing the same problem happen consistently. Here's what I have:
Droid X with 30.04 bootloader
It used to have 2.3.340, currently wiped
Bootloader reports the following:
Code:
Bootloader
30.04
Code Corrupt
Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB
I'm using the sbf file from 1kdsdroidx's site on google, teh first one listed for 2.3.340. I've tried with rsd_lite 2.8 and 2.9 with identical results on Win 7 x64.
This is the error from rsd_lite (line breaks added for readability):
Code:
Failed flashing process.
Failed flashing process.
Interface BP: Error sending RAM download for bootloader.
Device API Error: 0xE0000000
Address: 0x19EC00
Command ADDR (0xE0205000); phone connected
I'm really stuck here. I've tried searching, and I can't find anything like this, the closest I've been able to get is some posts talking about the radio not flashing properly, but no fixes. Has anyone else seen this? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have never seen anything like this, but try downloading the file again possibly from a different source? I'm not sure if that would help but it's worth a try. Maybe the file is corrupt
I have had that problem the only way I was able to get around it is flash the system only sbf found here http://sites.google.com/site/1kdsdroidx/. I flashed the system only after the full sbf fails.

No because it will fail again. It should be fine. What you can do is Use TBH full SBF update.zip when you get it up and running. It can be applied through CWM.
I'm beginning to think that there's more of a problem. I just flashed it with the system-only one you referenced, and it went OK. When it rebooted, I get this error:
Code:
Bootloader
30.04
Err:A5,70,70,00,1F
MEM_MAP Blank
Service Req'd
Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB
The sbf went fine, RSD reported success and the phone rebooted when expected.
EDIT: OK, tried redoing the OTA sbf file (failed) and then did the system one with success. The phone is back!
bigshotrob22, thanks so much for your help.

OK, this post is just to wrap up what happened in case anyone else has similar problems, I can show you what I did to get back. My goal was to get to Gingerbread, and having a working clockwork is necessary.
After all this, I was back to stock and I had root again.
- I couldn't reboot into the stock recovery either from the phone itself, or via `adb reboot recovery`
- `adb reboot bootloader` does not work for some reason
- I cannot use clockwork recovery from either rom manager or Droid X Bootstrapper
So, I tried replacing the recovery image from 1kdsdroidx's site on google (link above). I couldn't get to a recovery prompt, so I unpacked the zip and dropped to a shell to dd the file system over. First, I made a backup of the partition:
Code:
cd /mnt/sdcard
dd if=/dev/mmcblk1p16 of=backup.recovery.img
Then I pushed the recovery image from the zip into the partition:
Code:
dd if=recovery.img of=/dev/mmcblk1p16
My last step was doing the full sbf again, this time with success. Once the full sbf took, I was able to get root back with z4root and get into clockwork with Droid X Bootstrapper. The rooted gingerbread install was very straight forward, just a matter of applying the zip in cwm.

Hi all
Well I bricked my phone and I'm stuck in AP Fastboot. When I try to start the phone (boot it up from off) It gets as far as the M logo then enters AP fastboot or it might even go directly to fastboot.
What I was doing: I was trying to use Matt's Droid RAZR M utility 1.20 option 1 to go back to stock 4.1.2. That's when my problems started. I had nearly 70% battery when i started (now it says "low battery").
Phone set up: Droid RAZR M 4.1.2; Rooted; Locked bootloader; Safestrap 3.12 and backed up; stock slot was still stock and ROM slot 1 was running Eclipse Custom ROM. To be honest I cant remember if i was back in stock ROM slot or ROM slot 1 when I attempted to use Matt's Utility. And I didn't uninstall Safestrap nether prior to using the utility. Don't know how much those factors played into causing my problem.
What I have tried: I have tried RSD Lite 6.1.4 with xml.zip files from the Droid-Developers SBF web site. But i keep getting this fail message, "Failed flashing process. 1/19 flash partition "gpt_main0.bin" -> Phone returned Fail."
I have tried manually pushing the recovery.img, boot.img and system.img file onto the phone via cmd.exe and it fails with this message for all three attempts, "Battery Low!!" "FAILED (remote failure)".
I have tried Matt's Utility option 1 I get multiple fail messages, "Failed to erase partition", "FAILED (remote failure)", "Failed to flash partition boot", "Failed to write mmc".
I even purchased one of Team Black Hats Factory Programing Adapters (little red adapter) That acts like a factory programing cable (they said they don't sell the cable any more cause the red adapter does the same thing for cheaper).
With the adapter connected I still get the same fail messages in RSD Lite, Matt's Utility, and cmd.exe prompt. I was under the impression that the factory programing cable (adapter) would solve my low battery issue.
Any help would be great. Thank you in advance.
PS: Also, I did not take the last OTA update from a few weeks ago. I was planning to unlock my bootloader. And my computer is a Windows XP (sp3). Thanks Again.

[SOLVED] I was able to get some more help on another forum. My problem was a corrupted utility. I was instructed to perform a md5 check sum on my version if Matts utility. I compared my results to the original file on batakang Web site. That's when I realized my file was no good. So I deleted it an downloaded a clean uninterrupted copy of Matts utility 1.20 and it worked perfectly. I hope this will help other people too. Thanks for your help my friend.

Did you install Motorola USB drivers before doing anything?
Did your drive shows in rsd lite?
On what point do you get the error and what?
Did you try rsd lite to flash 4.1.2?
As you were on safetrap so your bootloader must be locked.
So first download RAZR M drivers from Motorola's website.
Download the latest version of rsd lite
Unzip the 4.4.2 file and open xml file in notepad, remove getvar line save it then flash it with rsd lite.
If you pass through then first thing you wanna do is root your phone with towelr (geohot root) and unlock your bootloader
look
i download latest 4.4.2 android i unzip thats file and delet the getvar line after i flash by rsd lite get error in 16/20 system.img failed to flash fastboot returend to phone............................................
after i try the downgrade mehtod.... geting error boot.img failed show.............................
when me unzip 4.4.2 android file show system.img crupted i try unzip by rsd lite there sucess unzip but geting system.img error........................
now my bootloader show date 2013/9/ something and down show fastboot fail stickly siprit something and bettery are low how to charge it.. repaly
when me try 4.1.2 android geting error security downgrade failed something ...........
my phone are off help me too install android

any one give me new frash link and which working and flashing phone and edit in xml file i direct flash and phone working perfectly
wihch unzip perfectly
Your download was corrupted, either by using some odd browser (IE) or by defective disk or RAM.
Now flashing "system.img" fails, because the signature is broken.
Since the bootloader was locked, you cannot downgrade.
Download the file again. Check MD5. It's noted on the download page.
And also check your computer. CDI for HDDs/SSDs, Memtest for RAM.

It's a Razr M running 4.1.2 with 98.30.1.xt907.verizon.en.us...rooted with towelroot but can't unlock the bootloader, that's another story.
Anyways this all started when I did a cache wipe and factory reset out of desperation to solve my battery and wifi issues. When the phone booted up after the wipe the notification bar and bottom keys disappear and reappear randomly. It's not like a glitch, it's more of an "autohide" thing since they are animated when disappearing/reappearing. What's causing this? systemui.apk crashing, some app confusion, gremlins?? Help please!
Also if anyone knows why or how to get an unlocked bootloader on my phone that would be great too.
You can't unlock because that system version is not unlockable... You're best bet as you're having systemui issues and wish to unlock is to upgrade to 4.4.2 and unlock the boot loader google rsd lite download it and use it to flash the stock 4.4.2 firmware
Sent from my XT907 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Didn't work
Long story short, got RSD lite and ran it...it would get the phone in fastboot mode (AP sierra wouldn't work), but then it failed after decompressing the ROM but trying to install it. Gave error "failed flashing process. Uknown fastboot command (getvar)" what's causing this?
Are you flashing the 4.4.2?

In the folder it extracted to you need to edit the xml file and remove the getvar line save it and try rsd again selecting your edited xml

I'll give it a try...funny enough though I reinstalled one of my live wallpapers and all my missing stuff came back. Before I install 4.4.2 though, how is the battery/wifi issues? Are there any? I also heard swype is gone, is that also the case?
Well the real advantage of going to 4.4.2 is being able to unlock the bootloader. Once it's unlocked you can downgrade back to jb 4.1.2 if you like
Followed steps outlined in other thread and got stuck on step 16/20 "flash system.img, failed flashing process. phone returned FAIL" in RSD

This didn't work either, unless I'm doing it wrong. Opened the .xml file in notepad, removed " <step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" /> "
and put it back in the .zip file but then RSD lite comes back with the error "Please check input file. Either XML file format is wrong or image files associated with it are missing." Could I just put on an external SD and use the internal bootloader to upgrade to 4.4.2 so I can do this unlocked bootloader business?!?

When you say notepad you mean notepad++ right? If not edit the original XML in notepad++ and give it another shot...
We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.

Close... After you Edit the file you don't have to put it into any zip just select the xml file instead. It should be located in a folder with all the other files from the zip
Yup got it working finally and after the towelroot/motopocalypse trick, finally have an unlocked bootloader. Thanks dudes.
