Hi Guys ,
Got my G2 a few days back . Decide to root and install CWM. Did both and then took a Nandroid backup of the stock rom. The backup came out to be around 3gb. Since i have the 16gb g2 , i thought of moving the backup over to my PC .
Now the problem was that using the MTP mode i was not able to see the location of the backup. Then using root tools i moved the 3gb Nandroid backup folder over to the main sd card so that i can copy and paste to the PC from there.
The movement inside the phone went fine , and i can see the new location in the phone , but i cannot see it when i connect the phone ? am i missing something here ?
Update :
I am able to see the folder using the wireless storage . But i am still unable to see it when the cable is attached. Transferring a 3gb backup over wifi takes ages
Have you tried rebooting the phone. Sometimes files won't show up on the PC through MTP until the phone is restarted

Thanks a bunch :good:
Yeah it's done it on a few of my previous phones so thought I'd ask. Glad I could help

As an aside, the quickest and most reliable transfer method for large files/folder has hands-down been USB OTG in my experience. Wireless storage/MTP/ADB have all stalled at one point or another. With that said, the only surefire way to be able to refresh a list so you see missing items using MTP is to reboot the phone and reconnect the cable. It's a known bug.
Edit: Darn! tkuligowski beat me to it.

After I rooted my vibrant to get lag fix, I decided to get titanium backup to remove some bloatware. Like the IDIOT I am I deleted the accounts and sync. I can turn sync on with my stock android widget so my calendar and emails sync. But it has been erased from my settings, and force closes every time I try to open it. Can anyone help me!! PLEASE!!!
I think this is what i'm missing
I need to get this " com.android.providers.subcribedfeeds " when I look in my system/app folder I still see the account and sync still there even though I used titanium backup to remove it. Then when I look in setting/manage application "com.android.providers.subcribedfeeds " is there ready to be unistalled. This was never there before and it has a size of " 0kb "

Figure out how to push it to /system/apps on your own (hint: use: ADB or Root Explorer). I uploaded this a while back.
XDA is the best
Thank you so much i used root explorer and it works as good as new. This place is the best.
Edit: got the zip opened on my computer and got the sets of files but when I tendered then from sd card to system/apps using root explorer, the files vanish and don't show up anywhere not even the sd card
I too made the same mistake by deleting the file. I downloaded the file from the link onto my phone but when I extract the .zip file using root explorer there's nothing in it
sorry tobring an old thread up..
so i goofed up and deleted acct and sync as well.. does this prevent my phone from mounting up via USB. i cant seem to mount it at all now...
any help is appreciated.

i did. problem is i cant DL root explorer since i cannot connect to the market due to acct and sync unable to perform its function.
i've got the zip for media share. i was wondering if there's a short cut to just mount the phone and drag the files over?

you can try to move it using Terminal Emulator commands.

i get this error message
[INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]
any ideas?
I think I did the same thing
I just so noticed that on titanium backup that this was deleted with out a backup. I do not remember deleting this but I guess I did. I am unable to get to access accounts and synchronization on settings. In every other respects my phone works just fine
Here is what I did to trouble shoot, I did not use adb, every time I attempt to set it up I never get it right. I did however get an apk from a Samsung Galaxy sII dump on this forum. I used root explorer to copy it into the system/apps folder I gave it the right permissions and restarted my phone. I still do not have this option in TB nor in setting. I am able to get notification via yahoo mail client however. I just would really like to get this back if possible.
I am not sure if this helps but I have a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II 4g. Sad to say there is no Nandroid or CWM so that is out of the question...
Thanks for taking the time to read this

Download Titanium Backup Lite or Pro on your PC and transfer it to your phone and install it.
--
Normally I'd say to make a backup of 'Wifi Access Points' but as your wifi access points are screwed up, ill upload mine in a while.
When you've downloaded mine just move them to the appropriate Titanium Backup folder on your SD Card.
--
Download; https://www.box.net/shared/7gbx79bu0505cd0kmq1u
Link Is up!
Just extract it and copy both files to the TitaniumBackup folder on your SD card!
Open Titanium Backup and scroll to the bottom of your app list and tap 'WiFi Access Points'. Then hit restore!
Once that's done. Just reboot and your WiFi should work againagain!
If it happens again, which it probably will just restore it again and reboot!
Hope it works,
Shane
I may be able to convince my gf to take my Nexus tablet so I can upgrade to the 32gb version. Is there anyway to restore my nandroid from this one to the new one? Or anyway to restore my titanium back up to the new one?

When I changed sd cards in my phone from the 16gb to the 64gb card, I copied my entire sd card to my laptop and then transferred all that data to the new card.
But in this case, I would try to copy over your nandroid to a computer and try that. Or do a synch to dropbox or drive and then resync to the new N7.
It can be done, just gotta figure which would be the best/fastest route.

Yes, you can copy the entire folder "clockworkmod/" to your computer, and then put it back [in the same place] on your new tablet. I'm not sure you can do it in MTP mode, you might have to use "adb pull /sdcard/clockworkmod/ ./clockworkmod/" and then "adb push ./clockworkmod/ /sdcard/" on the new one...
However, only 1 thing comes to mind. I have heard reports that new Nexus 7's preloaded with 4.1.2 were not able to flash a rom unless the rom had been updated somehow to be compatible. I can't remember much more than that.. not sure what ROM you're on [which should be stock 4.1.2, or custom rom]
That being said, to be safe I would recommend instead copying the /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/ folder instead, as I don't see how that method can fail.
I'm running AOKP, build 5. Also using TWRP. I think the titanium back up idea works fine. Thanks guys.

No need to push via adb.
only copy the folder in mtp. it will work without any problem.

Ok well I just said "you may have to use and," I didn't say you had to.. I said this because I mostly use adb, because MTP does not work well on Linux.

I returned* my 16GB this morning. I took a full Titanium Backup and a full TWRP/nandroid then copied everything (most everything at least) from the internal SD to a 32gb microsd via OTG. I don't expect to have much trouble restoring it to the replacement. Already did from first 16gb to second, when screen got weird first time.
Note that TWRP puts the backups in directories that are named to identify the individual device. Not sure what the random-looking name is, but you'll need to figure out the right name for the new unit and move the files or TWRP won't see the backup to restore.
* Screen was getting bad and wal-mart was willing to take it back and refund my money. Intending to replace with a 32 or 32/3g sometime soon.
Titanium should be fine. I will just root the new device, start fresh and restore my apps.

Hey guys
i want to take the Whatsapp files from one phone, and put them in the other so that i can use the 2nd phone as whatsapp - is it possible? both phones are rooted, which files should i copy?
REASON (incase you care)
waiting for the Nexus 5 im using my two old phones atm, i9000 and Moto Defy. the i9000 sim slot is not working so i cant put the sim to verify the number. but it works on the defy.
Thank you!
Just copy the whatsapp folder on the SD. It won't copy the verification, but all the data will be there once you verify again.

shouldn't there be a way to copy the varification itself? i assume its just a file with a silly 1 or 0 for a specific phone number..
thing is i WONT verify again since by the time i can get a card slot replacment here the N5 will be here (in a month)
If it would be that easy I could just send your verification code to me and read your messages.
Whatsapp isn't really secure, just not that insecure.

ok well i dont know if this is good or bad news for everyone
but it IS that easy -
getting the files didn't work BUT i did buy Titanium Backup (best purchase ever)
all i did was backup APK and DATA on the Defy (device with working SIM slot) - took that file to the other device (also has Titanium on it) and restored... Violla.... it worked.
got the a working app with my number on the other device.
Hello,
I literally installed the Facebook app from Google Play on my Nexus 4 hours ago and then my phone literally went blank. Eventually my phone was turned off as there was no more battery. I charged it and powered it but it no longer boots (it has been stuck at the X screen for hours). Is it possible to backup my files despite this so I can try to reinstall a custom ROM/unroot my Nexus 4?
I spent some time searching the forums and couldn't find the answer, so any response would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks.
One of the suggestions here might help you as well:

Maybe, it depends if you can boot into recovery and have a custom recovery

I can. I am running on TWRP v2.3.2.3 but I don't think I can access the files through ADB as I did not set it to Development Mode (ever). It seems I can actually back it up through TWRP, but my concern is I don't know how to extract it out of my phone because once I reinstall JB everything will be wiped right?
Once I reinstall a JB version that means everything will be erased. Does anyone how to keep that backup from TWRP if you can't take it out from your phone? It appears my version doesn't seem to have Nandroid.
Also, does anyone know if it's "System" that stores all the contacts/text messages?
I want to backup my Data folder too but I only have 900mb free space left on my phone (I have the 8gb version) and my Data file is about 1.5gb. I don't remember if I have anything valuable in my Data file that I need to recover, so just to be sure, does anyone know if I can explore my "Data" folder to remove content to make it smaller so I can back it up? Thanks.
ADB via recovery should be the way to go then.
Did you try something as an ADB file manager?
See: https://github.com/sole/aafm for example.
This should allow you to copy the files to your PC without having to backing them up first on the device itself.
An alternative way would be to connect to the (ADB) shell, delete some useless files.. like music and stuff you already have (or package music as one archive - download - delete) etc. Till you have enough to package the data directory in one go. If done right the archive should preserve file permissions which is an extra plus I guess.
The way I try to make sure I don't have a problem like this is:
- Letting TitaniumBackup backup all important applications + data every night @ 4 AM when it's charging (while I am sleeping).
- Use FolderSync to sync the new backups to a server I have running. Could also be cloud of course. (Only on Wifi and while charging)
Good luck!
If you can boot into recovery it might be possible to pull data there.
Also, if you know which ROM was installed, you can try just flashing the system partition of respective ROM. It might not fix your issue but might allow you to boot and backup your data prior to completely resetting everything.
I've had something similar once. Tried all kind of solutions via recovery/fastboot/adb and only flashing a clean system image allowed me to recover important data. The phone was unusable still (constant FC's) but it allowed me to establish an adb connection and pull all data I didn't want to lose.

To be honest, I actually didn't. I decided to perform a reset and lose my data (and reinstall my ROM) as I didn't have the patience to experiment and figure it out. I just don't have time for that.
