[Q] Galaxy note 3 notification drawer font size - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear all,
My phone rooted using method root de la vega, stock room BMJ1 firmware.
i hate the notification font is too large, and i tried to search around there are no way to set it smaller like really small, and when i have lots of notifications coming in, i need to scroll all the way down, can i cant preview the most of the notification text (too large).
Is there any apps or setting in the phone can change the size of the fonts or the drawer size to smaller ?

You can change the dpi for system.ui using xposed framework with the app settings module. You could also change the dpi globally in the build prop.

I realise how late this reply is, but I was having the same issue and I figured it out
I found that changing the DPI to 420 shrinks it down just right but you can play with the number to get the size you want, a bigger number means that the elements are bigger.

Have the same issue - notification too big. Want to shrink it down.
When I change the DPI, can you limit this to just the notification? If so, which setting applies to this?
Any chance you can upload a sample? Be good to see it Thanks!

I think he just changed it globally. But if you use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-app-settings-v1-7-1-2013-12-15-t2437377
you can change the dp for systemui.apk only.

Unfortunately no. One thing that doesn't work: messing around with the system font size. I thought that might increase the size of the bar at the bottom but it didn't work. There may well be a registry entry that would increase the font size and thus the "touchability."

Possibilities
There are several possibilities there.
I don't know the resolution of that thing, but it could be that the bars are stock, the fonts are smaller, could be that it's using a non standard today screen but infact a plugin/overlay/shell. The bars are images saved in the theme files, so it's possible that using an advanced theme editor they were able to create non standard layouts, but either way I'd hazard a guess it's not something you can just do with registry/font/file edits on the device.
through a lot of messing of my own, I have been able to acertain atleast that no one thing you change in the UI is going to stay at just that.
Changing the folder background colour for example (like I set the programs folder background to black and font to white) meant that in my mail app and many others i couldn't read the text because it also affected their font colours.
The highlights on a lot of text boxes inside apps are now black too, so unreadable text, certain sections of various windows changed, etc etc.
So, either way, it will need some theme editing or some extensive modifications to the theme layout.

what I've come to realize, is that the icons and soft keys use the same pixel count as any other winmo phone, it's just that the pixels are smaller on our phones...lol
im bumping this in case someone knows something now

HTC Incredible 175DPI....Nice

Set my DPI to 175. I like the look. My brother says it makes everything too small. What ya'll think?

I myself find low scale dpi a really nice look.
I haven't tried 175 yet but I'll make sure to take a look at it.
Guess I should get a tablet to suit my needs lol.

I just like the look of high-res myself. If I could find a phone with a 4" 1080p screen I'd be all over it. LOL
That looks like ICS; does your phone app work at that DPI? I always had issues with that when I increased the DPI.
Yep. Its CM9 RC0 and phone app works fine.
Nice, thanks, I guess I'll have to give it a go again.
175 works great..I went into launcher setting and changed homescreen to 5x5 instead of the default 4x4. Makes the screen seem much bigger then it is.
I had to change it back to 200 cuz incoming calls crash my phone app although I was able to dial outgoing calls just fine.
That's odd, because when I set it to 175, I couldn't even dial. I've never been able to pull off that kind of setting on anything other than ParanoidAndroid and not have phone app FCs.
Go 160. 175 isn't an officially supported DPI for android
how do you change the dpi?

By build prop or LCD density app.

I tried 160 a bit earlier today and had the exact same issue with the phone app. I would be inclined to believe that it may be a matter of the phone app in our ROMs not supporting anything other than stock DPI without modification to the app itself.
I'm comfortable with 200. Everything works so far.....also I change mine using ROM Tools. Its a slider. But you can use Root Explorer to change the build.prop file as well. Either way works.

Nav bar size change

Hi all, Loving my Nexus so far but would like to change the size of the Nav bar, there is no need for it to be so big!
I am running AOKP on my Galaxy Nexus and it has easy options to change the nav bar size.
Does anyone know of a way to change it on the Nexus 7? I am happy to flash a zip if thats what is nessary but I dont really want to flash a whole new rom.. Any help appreciated!
you could do what im doing, waiting it out until a full blown, feature filled AOKP JB ROM comes out. until then, im just gonna deal with it :/ its not so bad

Just change the DPI. Bonus...get tablet UI!
I'm running 160 with no issues on anything.
Yeah think I will wait till AOKP comes out.
Hey Ace! Just a heads up in case you didnt know you can get Tablet UI without touching the DPI settings.
Thing is changing the DPI to 160 causes a lot of apps to resize wrong and the text is tiny. In the devs section there is a patch that enables Tablet UI without changing DPI. Its works great, I recommend it!

I would like to know this too. I'm using glazed which I like but I want to increase the bar sizes both navigation and status.
If its just a tweak in a file somewhere it would be nice. Anyone know?
I use Go Launcher and disable it. Anything I want to see on the home screen I just add a widget.

Cant get head around DPI changes on PA?

Hi guys,
I did do a search but couldnt find an answer to this. I have just rooted and installed PA rom to my phone to use the extended desktop etc. Thing is, there are 3 different tablet ui on their settings which i dont really understand? all are 1000p but diff dpi settings. Seems that if i 'lower' my dpi everything gets smaller, surely that should be the other way around as normally higher dpi = crisper image doesnt it? What ui are people using on PA?
I clicked on the help bit of the pa settings and it shows changing some stuff on the youtube app to make it look different but that doesnt seem to work either, was that only for tablets to get the 3d menu effect?
Thanks all
It's very easy. Dpi = size. That's it. Forget all this Tablet mode nonsense from the past. Dpi makes apps bigger or smaller nothing more.
Now apps bring layout containers, the programmer defines them. These containers tell the app how it should look on various devices and screen sizes. Paranoid android can read the actual layouts out of any app. And you can choose of course, again, app per app.
Every app on your system can have it's own size and layout. Everything is nicely listed on the hybrid manager. System Ui, the app that displays bars is no difference. We treat it in the same way. " tablet mode" means simply we set it to it's highest layout. There's several settings because you can decide how big you want it, these are presets that's all. You can finetune it in the interface section. Play around with it, almost nothing needs a reboot, not even switching UI's.
I sometimes wish xda would not ignore us. They haven't featured hybrid engine at least once so people still don't know what it is.
Ps here's a mini tutorial

Right column sets Skype into a higher UI. This is how it looks on a nexus 10. Try any app you like there's literally hundreds with awesome UIs that work great on your phone.

Thanks for the help mole, yeah i think i realise how the dpi works now it just confused me as i thought higher dpi would = smaller crisper text but i am clearly confusing that with resolution (thought they were the same thing).
Appreciate the mini tutorial will just keep playing with it

Only solution I can think of is changing your DPI, but that will also scale down the rest of the UI as well (status bar and everything else). Make a nandroid before playing with build.prop edits, just in case... Don't make my mistakes lol

It will surely do the trick but mind that you'll have to scale up the icons with Gravitybox to their original size in order to have consistency between desktop icons and dock icons. Some good values might be 400 and 420 DPI; I personally use 420, the best compromise for me overall. Let me know!

lots of guys met 255 error but seems that no way to fix it
I found something in chinese forums and i am trying....
not your fault, be easy~
Probably found something.
Try going in the "Mount" menu inside TWRP, then uncheck mount system partition as read-only, hopefully it'll work!
Yeah, just a mere "twrp error 255" google search yielded quite a stack of posts, all with different solutions
