Somehow with all the googlevideo libs and all this other stuff from KitKat, I borked my hangouts. I have tried installing the old 1.x version, and the new 2.x version from KitKat, plus the new 2.x version from the play store, and I can't video chat at all. Any tips on what to look for in a logcat? I tried using LOGGY and viewing the logcat on my PC in chrome, but I don't know what to look for. I also installed a bunch of /system/lib files to get Google Text To Speech to work, but I don't think that has anything to do with my hangouts issue.
delete the nexus 5.lib and uninstall hangouts, get the newest .122 update
DO you have Viper audio installed?
Uninstall the viper audio driver , reboot and your good to go.

I do have viper audio. Why would that interfere?

I'll be damned, it was Viper4Android. Uninstalled and now videochat works!

I used Viper4android on the stock G2 rom without any problems, but I can't get it working on the aosp roms. Anyone else had luck?
The app installs, driver installs, reboot, etc. It just never kicks in and driver status doesn't say it's processing.

Surely somebody else uses this, right?
It FC's for me in AOKP as soon as I plug my headphones.
Working here. Restored TB backup on AICP. I notice it kicking off then back on occasionally but sounds great.
I did have to go back through the process of downloading drivers. And I think there's an option to choose music equalizer: under settings>Sound>Music effects, check Viper

Thanks, I'll give it another shot. Can you tell me which version of Viper4Android you got, or just link the source? I saw a lot in the play store. Thanks again!

Sure, I got it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2456073
Looks like version 2.3.0.1
I got it working by freezing musicfx and running the driver in compatibility mode.

Not working on stock lolipop after reboot app keeps crashing and I'm unable to install the drivers(after reboot it just asks for driver installation again)
I installed a ROM which came with Viper. I installed the driver as battery saver and high performance. I installed it as a user app and a system app. It still does not function at all. I tried compatibility mode and normal as well.
How do I get it to work?
I have same issue mine will work for a minute or two but then stop working I've tried different roms different versions of viper4android no luck
Yeah I'm running a ROM with it and having issues. Mine is that when the screen is off my music will skip or pause for just a second. Its real annoying I've tried it on headphones and the phone speaker with the same result.

They should stop including it in ROMs if it doesn't function.
I've frozen Sound Alive and it fixed everything for me. Give that a try if your rom still has it enabled.
How do you freeze SoundAlive?

You can either freeze it with Titanium Backup Pro or use a root explorer and rename the app soundalive.apk to soundalive.bak. It's located in the system/priv-app folder. On a side note have you all set ViperFX as the default music effects in settings/sound/music effects? Viper runs great for me. As for including it in the ROMs it needs to be made a data app and not a system app so it can be uninstalled if desired. I started to do this and hope other devs who include it in the ROM will follow suit.

You need to add MusicFX.apk back to the system/priv-app folder to get the Music Effects menu back and SoundAlive.apk if you want Sound Alive back in the Music Effects menu. Then reboot. Otherwise ViperFX will show up in the Music Effects menu once MusicFX is added back. You should also be more specific to witch ROM you are referring to, it might have been added back in a newer version.

Has anyone tried any of the trouble shooting steps from the official viper thread? (I'm not on a custom ROM yet)

Download this file and flash it using safestrap. Then open app and download drivers. Then restart go to settings/sounds/music effects and choose viper4android. Then hit enable in viper app this should work. This worked for me and I tried everything else everyone said with no luck
Didn't try this with renovate Ice 5.0 but with 4.0 when I installed Viper4Arise (I belive that's the name) I got no sounds from my speakers. Tried it a few times all the same result.
Just want to know the steps to take so I can get better sound on my phone, or if Viper4android works?
Thanks.

To quote my response, hope this helps:
Ok here's what I did:
- make sure any previous version of Viper is removed (I had an issue where I'd installed a version over another and it messed my sound up in that even on the lowest volume step it was playing full volume!). I used one of the viper with the aroma and chose uninstall. Then I used Titanium Backup to search for viper and removed another that way.
- flash this version:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634776829
- if you don't have the Viper app appear then flash an apk of one. I used the pure black from from here (open up the zip and I used the 2.5.0.5 version):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6OgctcRCMJvdUpSTnZYazhpM2s/view
I'm not sure if I'm just being picky, but I swear that this sound doesn't sound as good as previous setups. Though this is the first version that just works - as previously I needed to use compatibility mode for Spotify and to avoid issues, such as when I would play via Spotify, then load Poweramp whilst playing, it would silence Spotify resulting in me needing to kill both apps in order to resume audio.
Good luck!

Im having this issue as well. Had viper4android on my s7 edge and it was much louder with alot more bass. Very disappointing. Cant figure out why its not as loud as the s7 edge. Any tips on how to boost volume. I'm connecting to Bluetooth in my car on a s8 plus.
Anyone figure out a way to update Prime Video? The app installed with the stock rom is pretty old and missing some features. I have tied to uninstall it and install the latest apk from the play store or apk mirror, but no luck. It installs fine but when you try to open the app it just flashes and then closes. Installing as a system app doesn't help either. Any ideas? This is on a rooted 2017 HD 10

Why do you wanna have the root version?
If you take the non root version it works also great and it's enough to disable youtube.
I have root so I prefer to use that version. Even if I only disable YouTube and install the root version via vanced manager, when I reboot it disappear.
No one, please?
I don't think you need to remove the stock versions, just uninstall their updates and Vanced will install on top of it

I recently installed the latest oneplus update and the version of the installed youtube is higher that the vanced version. Hence I cannot update it with vanced version. Any clue how to remove it. I tried a root uninstaller yet it was to no avail. Any clues?
