I installed a ROM which came with Viper. I installed the driver as battery saver and high performance. I installed it as a user app and a system app. It still does not function at all. I tried compatibility mode and normal as well.
How do I get it to work?
I have same issue mine will work for a minute or two but then stop working I've tried different roms different versions of viper4android no luck
Yeah I'm running a ROM with it and having issues. Mine is that when the screen is off my music will skip or pause for just a second. Its real annoying I've tried it on headphones and the phone speaker with the same result.

They should stop including it in ROMs if it doesn't function.
I've frozen Sound Alive and it fixed everything for me. Give that a try if your rom still has it enabled.
How do you freeze SoundAlive?

You can either freeze it with Titanium Backup Pro or use a root explorer and rename the app soundalive.apk to soundalive.bak. It's located in the system/priv-app folder. On a side note have you all set ViperFX as the default music effects in settings/sound/music effects? Viper runs great for me. As for including it in the ROMs it needs to be made a data app and not a system app so it can be uninstalled if desired. I started to do this and hope other devs who include it in the ROM will follow suit.

You need to add MusicFX.apk back to the system/priv-app folder to get the Music Effects menu back and SoundAlive.apk if you want Sound Alive back in the Music Effects menu. Then reboot. Otherwise ViperFX will show up in the Music Effects menu once MusicFX is added back. You should also be more specific to witch ROM you are referring to, it might have been added back in a newer version.

Download this file and flash it using safestrap. Then open app and download drivers. Then restart go to settings/sounds/music effects and choose viper4android. Then hit enable in viper app this should work. This worked for me and I tried everything else everyone said with no luck

Hi,
I tried to install DSPManager on AOSPA, I extracted it from the Cyanogenmod-Nightlies (APK and LIB) and placed it on my phone.
I also changed Permissions. Changing anything inside it doesn't do anything until I start a new Track, then it works until I start DSPManager (weird).
How to properly install DSPManager on ParanoidAndroid?
Greetings

There is a way to get this working. I have DSP fully working on AOSPA (Paranoid Android), though I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post how I did it as the CM Developers may not want DSP to be ported to other roms..
I believe is open sourced. Just cite where you got your ibfo

If you can't get it working, I strongly recommend viper4android. Fantastic sound mod.

Yeah, but no dynamic range compression on viper4android which makes DSP manager has more balance sounds. You can hear more subtle detail on a background sounds that others could not achieve without compressor.
Search mix magazine; compression and compressor, barry rudolph
I've renamed every instance of poweron.ogg I could find, and I still get the book sound. Can you disable the sound by itself or do you need to swap out the entire boot animation?
if nothing works install xposed frameworks and use wanam module... it has that option and others

Cool, I had renamed them all and still got the sound, but then deleting all the poweron.oggs I could find did the trick. So what are the poweron.orggs in /spr or /vas etc?
The startup sound can be removed if you set the system volume to minimum.
Just fyi, on the Sprint version deleting the poweron.ogg in /system/media/audio/ui/xas does the trick.
Yahhhh Kennedy808.. We have a winner!!! Thank you that did the trick for my sprint note 3!
I apologize for re-opening this old old thread. The new path for the Sprint Note 3 on 4.4.4 NH7 is /system/media/audio/ui/SPR. Wanam doesnt work as its looking in the incorrect dir.
I used Viper4android on the stock G2 rom without any problems, but I can't get it working on the aosp roms. Anyone else had luck?
The app installs, driver installs, reboot, etc. It just never kicks in and driver status doesn't say it's processing.

It FC's for me in AOKP as soon as I plug my headphones.
Working here. Restored TB backup on AICP. I notice it kicking off then back on occasionally but sounds great.
I did have to go back through the process of downloading drivers. And I think there's an option to choose music equalizer: under settings>Sound>Music effects, check Viper

Hi guys,
new phone, new mods, here we go:
In the attachment you'll find the modded android.policy.jar for flashing to skip music tracks with long press Volume buttons while screen is off/in your pocket.
IMPORTANT: Your system has to be deodexed, otherwise you'll end in a bootloop!
Flash the zip in your recovery and enjoy!
Updated the OP with a flashable zip for your recovery (CWM/TWRP).
Why has no one tried this yet so I can know if it's legit or not? Lol how about a volume boost mod??

I tried, because I made the mod
It's working like a charm.
Either you flash the stock deodexed ROMs here in the forum, or you deodex yourself with xUltimate, it is just simple.
You don't even need to do a factory reset after deodexing, so no worry.
To clarify: deodexed apk's work on all ROMs, deodexed or odexed. Look into your system apps, some are odexed, some deodexed, no problem.
If you change anything in the jar-files of the framework, you can't mix up odex and deodex, so you have to decide.
Most theming and modding is done in the framework and it is by far easier to do this in deodexed files.
Quick question..
When you enable ART, the phone reboots and you see the apps are being "optimized". Takes a pretty long time. Any relation to deodexed Roms? I mean, would this app work or would a separate deodexed ROM still have to be installed? Thanks.
Is this mod work only with Google music? Because every time I'm using Pandora with mod its automatically played Google music.

The mod sends a media broadcast. Every app that supports this will respond. It seems that Pandora doesn't support such broadcasts - or, it supports it but Google Music is the first app to respond, you can check this with freezing Google Music. What happens then?

I think it only happens that way if google music is still active in memory. It used to happen to me occasionally, and if I went in and force stopped gmusic, it started working correctly.
Well, ok.
Unfortunately that's nothing I can influence by myself as it depends on all apps which are able to receive a media broadcast. Your behaviour will most likely happen too if you use a cable or bluetooth headset for changing music tracks, have you tried that?
thx for the mod but it disables my extended reboot menu. any idea why?
Yes, because the Power Reboot Menu is done in android.policy.jar too
Two options: Decide which mod you like most, or wait for someone who puts those two mods together.
Will there be odex version?
Not from me, sorry. Don't own the N5 anymore
Sad... This music skip option is only reason I would use CM...
Maybe need to flash deodexed rom?

Using a guide I found elsewhere on the forum, I have re-odexed this mod. Just place these files in your /system/framework/ (you might need to remount the partition to do this) and reboot. I have tested this on my Nexus 5 and my friend's Nexus 5 both rooted but still using stock rom. Please let me know if this worked for you!

Hi guys, after the CM 11S was ported to our loved Nexus 5, the only app that I like from this firmware is Screencast..
Very simple to use and seems bug-free..
The only difference from the CM11S, is that to start the app, we dont have any buttons shortcut (on the OpO you can press VolUp+Power).
I dont have modified anything.. Extracted from rom zip..
Tested on Nexus 5 CM11 nightly 07-18-2014 - stock CM kernel
APK Download and screenshots in atch section down here..
Flashable Zip HERE
Thanks to @vin4yak
How to install:
- Copy the APK to \system\priv-app\
- Set correct permissions
- Reboot
I'm not responsable for any damage to your devices.

All credits go to @P4R for his CM 11S ported for Nexus 5 - Thread link
PS. I hope I have not broken any rule.. in case, let me know..
Thanks, tested on pa 4.5 alpha2 and works

Years are passed since I've started to find a way to change even Screenshots folder..
I hate Android default folders location
I think its mainly because these apps are ported from phones with no ExtSD to begin with so the feature is useless.

Other then move files on extSD, I want to set a different folder even on internal memory, for example using only one folder for photo and Screenshots, and other media files..
Even on Chrome's or stock browser (and others) you can't change the download location..

Ps.. I'm digging like always in this APK code trying to find something.. But I doubt..
