P705 root and speed up - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently rooted my wife's l7 with cydia impactor found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2399464 then I installed link 2 SD and created a ext4 partition on SD card using minitool partition wizard on windows for those who don't know how to do that here's a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13652059, then its just a matter of launching link to SD.selecting ext4 and let it write a script and bobs your uncle you can now link apps 2 your SD card. This made my wife's stock ROM much faster I moved just about everything I could. I personly would have a custom ROM but she likes the stock ROM.

[Q] How to Partition 8 GB microSD 4x for Rooted Stock Wildfire?

I have a rooted HTC Wildfire 2.2 with a new 8GB microSD Class 4. I'd like to correctly partition my SDCard so that I can install all applications on SDCard and not Phone Memory.
1- What I need is to help me setting up perfect sizes for SWAP & Ext3 (Perfect matches HTC Wildfire and 8 GB Card).
2- Can I install the stock 2.2.1 ROM over the SDCard?
3- Will all Apps got installed on SDCard after partitioning instead of Phone Memory leaving it empty?
Thank you
nice post i would like to know too!
Try rommanager, chose partition your sd,(instal old clockwork mod like 2.xx, becoz new ones make ext4, which is not compatable with some roms,)choose the greatest avilable size for ext and swap(it may be enough, if u r not app greedy, i had done so, so far i have 50+app installed), reboot-partition-done, the best trouble free way!

Thanks for your reply but I don't want to end up my device because some people reported issues with partitioning part of internal phone memory due to some ROM Manager Partition Manager errors. I'll use a PC client to partition the card.
Rom manager works fine. I've done it a few times. The people having problems probably shouldn't have bought an android phone...... besides if something goes wrong odds are it won't just redo the partition again.
And make sure you backup your SD card before partitioning it.

Use recovery (= rom manager) to partition first. If that gives any issues then use "gparted live cd" to partition sdcard. U need to download gparted_live_cd_ISOimage and burn it to a cd. Then using pc u need to boot from live cd to partition sdcard. Here be careful not to format ur pc hard drive.
The partitioning sizes I recommend are 512MB ext , 32MB swap and remaining fat. If that is not sufficient u can choose 1024 MB, 64MB.
If u r using gparted then first create extended partition as fat corresponding to its memory. Then create ext and swap. At last format all those partitions.

omg wow
so i have conflicting information from this thread and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19927720#post19927720 on whether or not i am able to create an sdext partition on a factory rom, which i have come to the conclusion that you may be able to, but would you be able to put that partition to use and have apps installed and read from there. please be more specific, i have an LG Opt T running 2.3.3 btw
thanks for any input
I used gParted. It's free. You can find it by fecking googling download and burn to a CD. Then boot it on your PC. Linux will show up. Open gParted from desktop and size your ext and format.
I made 1 GB ext4 and 64 MB Swap. 1 GB is too much for ext since I can't use more than 100 MB. 512 is ok. I read somewhere that Swap isn't used anymore but 64 MB isn't a thing in 8000.
It doesn't matter if its ext3 or 4 since you can flash DT's A2SD to any ROM.
The apps you moved to SD before are not in ext partition. They will stay in FAT partition. To move them to ext, simply move them to phone (after DT's A2SD phone means ext part.

Hey man,
I had the same problem a while ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253270&page=2
In the second to last post I finally managed to get it to work. (Just to be clear, I used the darktremor script, but not the app, for the app is use S2E and to visualise my usage i use "freespace", but work like a charm ! )
Hope it helps

[Q] How to root

Hi guys
This motorola flipout mb511 is my first android phone , as a new user I am just getting to know the terminology.
Can some one please guide me through the steps on how to root my phone so I can move my apps to an sd card.
My firmware is version 2.1 , I have been reading the forums to see how to update this but I havent seen anywhere that it can be done yet .
as a new user please feel free with any recommendations you may have.
greatly appricated
Rooting is really a must, currently there is no official or unnoficial update for the flipout. I belive i rooted with super one click method (google it) but I did it so long ago i can only be 90% sure. As to installing non market apps (which you will most likely need to do for rooting) the easy way is to install the" sideload enabler" from motorola on the market and enable unknown sources, the hard way is using android debug bridge from your computer. Once you get it rooted i would parition the sd card and use link2sd to adress the low internal storage on the flipout. After that there are tons of great tweaks to do with root like blocking ads, overclocking, and changing transition or boot animations good luck.
If you have any problems iKd be happy to help out

Thanks for your reply
I used "super one click method " and rooted the phone.
I installed link2sd.
How do i partition the sd card and transfer apps etc
I formated my micro sd card into two partitions , both fat32
when i try to move some apps to the sd card i am getting any error message
" Mount script error
mount:no such device
ext 3 may not be supported on your device . Try Fat32 on the second partition"
Are you sure that you made both fat32 partitions primary? I think could be it

I rooted my phone and I partitioned my sd card into 2 partitions , both FAT32 primary 3.7GB and when i open link2sd and select either ext 2 or ext 3 I get an error message
"Mount scrip error
Mount scripe cannot be created.
mount: no such device
ext 2 may not be supported on your device. Try FAt32 on the second partition"
Has anyone come accross this problem before ?
when I ran app2sd i scrolled down and selected fat32 so its working perfectly now .
Thanks for all your help

Link2sd / foldermount not working

Morning all,
I'm having the usual issues with internal space on my (rooted) s5360. I have tried:
Foldermount - won't work because /data/data isn't seen.as being on the internal SD card?!?
Link2sd - works on a fat/fat sd card only, then after reboot says "invalid argument" and won't mount. I've used Easus, Minitool and CWM to partition, but to no avail.
Directorybind - doesn't see any folders in /data
Are there any other ways to move / symlink monster apps like games and facebook to my SD?
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda app-developers app
With link2sd you need a kernel that can support ext4 partitions
steps to follow if on stock based rom
flash hells fusion #50 kernel
copy contents of sd card to pc
goto recovery mode on phone
in cwm partition sd card with at least 1024mb ext partition
swap is not required
restart phone
open link2sd
create mount script as ext4
Restart
Open link2sd & check 2nd partition now shows
copy everything back to sd card
restart
Having had to restore with Odin after messing about with kernels / roms (I need to run stock rom to avoid phone nework cutoff) I'm not keen on this approach.
I can't see why l2sd would work after a reboot with ext4 when it won't with fat.
Is there no other app that can be used as an alternative?
What about manually creating symlinks?

Because it needs kernel support
you won't have any problems running stock rom with hells fusion #50 kernel as long as you are not using DDMD1 baseband as that requires a different ramdisk
Install REPENCIES ROM PLUS REPENCIES KERNAL it has all support u need.
U cank also use darktremer app2sd . Its much better then link2sd & can transfer delvink also to sd.
Seach xda you will find everything
Thank you for helping me

Partitioning SD Card?

i am trying to use any of the apps to move to SD but am getting this message (could not locate SD-EXT Partition) although i have installed Dual Recovery TWRP Philz + CWM , I tried partitioning use TWRP but Then i get the message saying Failed any tips or something i did wrong
Note that im using Latest CM11 nighly C6903 (SD Card Sandisk Ultra 64 GB)
thanks
Use Mini Tool Partition Home Edition Free and make a EXT4 partition on SD where the data will be moved. Now I don't know how it will work on Z1 but this is how it work on HD2, EXT4 will be used instead of Internal Storage. Let me know how it goes, I want do that too.
I have tried folder Mount its OK doing the job just fine I even bought the pro version thanks anyways

Foldermount and Link2sd compatability

Hi, I'm not an expert about mods on phone but I try it..
I have got my Note4 in signature with root access and E-motion kernel r26 installed into phone. The firmware is the stock one "DPH1".
1)
I installed Link2Sd and I followed the guidelines for partitions (ext2, etc.) to install apps to sd.
Today I've installed Foldermount app to move Whatsapp in extsd and this app has formatted my ext partition with deleting of my apps.
Therefore can't Link2sd and Foldermount operate together?
2)
How can I know my sd class? I tried through Sd tools but when you want test the sd card you get an error writing buffer.
Thanks for your helps..
