So I have a Verizon LG G2. Today I wanted to try out the CM 10.2 nightly, so I download it and factory reset my phone via TWRP, followed by installing the CM10.2 nightly rom along with the gapps. Apparently something fails in the process, and now when I try to boot my phone, I see a fastboot mode log. I can no longer enter recovery mode, and I can no longer enter download mode. Attempting recovery mode will cause my phone to reboot. Attempting to enter download mode puts my phone in a Firmware Update screen where the progress bar stays locked at 0%.
I've tried downloading every LG application and flashing the stock .kdz files but it fails in each application for some reason or other (no clear error message).
What are some steps I can take to proceed in trying to fix my phone?
Hello,
Turn OFF your phone.
Start it by pressing vol- + power
When LG logo appear release both and re-press both.
You will have a white screen that say factory reset.
Press power and one more time power.
Recovery will start.

I tried this but after I confirm the factory reset, my screen just goes blank. When I reboot my phone later, I'm back at where I started earlier: at the fastboot mode started log.

Try going back to stock rom. But in able to enter in recovery mode without rebooting. First, you need to press volume - + and power button, when the phone turns off, quickly press again the volume UP key and plug the cable in. You need to be very fast because it will reboot fast.

Have you tried a recovery using LG support tool?
http://www.lg.com/uk/support-mobile/lg-LGD802
I've used this as rescue before
I've tried every way to enter recovery mode. It just leads to another reboot. And I know I'm doing this very very quickly, and its still not working. And I've also tried to use the LG support tool. It recognizes my phone as up to date. When I try to run upgrade recovery, it'll download a 2GB file and when it is supposedly copying it to the phone, nothing happens. and the progress bar finishes in like 8 seconds (way too fast to actually transfer 2GB). Then it says complete, when in reality nothing on my phone changed.

To turn your phone off, Hold the power button for 10 seconds, it will turn off and then reboot but continue to hold the button until it shuts off a second time. After that just follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960

I followed this but it says Device Model is Different. Check Phone or DLL. I'm using all of the files provided from that page.
Here's what I see:
Model: D802.
BIN: VS98010B_13.TOT
SWV: VS98011A_01
SWOV: VS98011A_01
Device Model is different!
Check Phone or DLL!
I think the part that surprises me is the model. D802 is the code for the UK LG G2. Does my phone think it's a UK LG G2? I was trying to install the CM10.2 ROM for the D802 when this happened.

Didn't you say you had the Verizon model? If so, the model is vs980, not d802.

I do have the Verizon model. There's an ugly Verizon logo on the front corner and on the back. I don't know why it says d802 for model. Is there any way I can have this returned to Verizon/LG to get it fixed if I've rooted it?
Well that's probably the problem, the Verizon and international models are different. You should never flash a ROM not meant for your phone.

Does your computer see it? Because if so you could try fastboot or adb to flash a new vs980 recovery. Otherwise, if you've done a good enough job bricking it that Verizon can't get it to boot to the screen that says that its rooted they'll probably blame it on faulty hardware and issue a replacement. (But keep in mind that that's fraud.) They may also be able to recover it in store. My friend managed to brick his Optimus G on sprint last year and they plugged it into some machine and unbricked it within 20 minutes.

Hi all,
I was upgrading to android 4.3 using the factory image provided by google. During the upgrade it displayed a message that it will restart my phone in bootloader mode. But the phone never restarted and since then it isnt turning on. When i try to get into recovery mode using power + vol down or even just press the power key the phone does not turn on, instead the led flashes in red color till i let go of the keys.
For the red led issue i found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250454. But on few other threads i read that if it shows QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager on windows then you phone is bricked.
Can someone help me here. Not sure if my phone is bricked completely.
P.S. I was on stock rom + franco's kernel before flashing 4.3.
Did you use the correct image for the phone? The correct one should have 'Occam' in the file name.

I was on stock rom only. I downloaded the image for nexus 4 from google's site and ran the flashall.bat file. Then it showed a message 'Pushing bootloader' and this was successful then it displayed a message saying 'restarting phone in bootloader mode'(Initially connected the phone by pressing power + vol down). After that the phone never restarted. Since then I am not able to start my phone.

If there is no sign then only a mother board replacement can be done, I hope u had bought the an official Indian piece with warranty and not an import.
please follow the red light of death thread. That should get you into bootloader / fastboot. Then reflash

HEY! I'm on the d801 as well and I've been where you're at a number of times, unfortunately. But I've always gotten out. Here's the conclusion I've reached. Trying to flash directly back to stock without wiping all the partitions first is what makes the RDTool get stuck. It's like the phone runs out of memory and can't host a full Gig+ of data since your last ROM is in the way. Sorry if I'm wrong but I'm only assuming you didn't wipe everything except the Internal storage. The good thing every time this has happened to me is that your recovery partition should be intact. Mine always is, and we're on the same variant. Another thing, booting back into recovery is not impossible. It's all in the timing it takes from the first time you see the LG logo while holding volume - and the power button, but don't let go. What worked for me was to let the phone cycle between off and boot power states twice until the phone is completely off again. You may even notice the LED indicator flash red. Release your keys if the phone stays off and immediately hold the combo down again until the phone tries to boot again just don't let go of the buttons. Once it powers down again, leave the phone alone for a few minutes. Come back and this time get ready to boot into recovery. The combo button press will initiate boot but don't let go until the next time you see the LG logo flash, then quickly release and depress the vol down power up combo and hold. May take a minute longer than usual but the reset menu should pop up thereafter. Tap power 2 more times and you should back into recovery. It's worked every time for me. Let me know if you're good and whether this helped!
Good Luck,

K, now if you're only seeing the blue dots when you attach by USB your phone to PC, then you're not fully in DL mode to process the kdz. You should see a white wheel in the center of the screen when you connect and a viewing mirror near the base of your phone with ROOTED in red directly below that. And you're sure your PC is detecting your phone? You've the drivers installed? Because when RDT tells you to run the tool, you'll see some binary code in the viewing window I spoke of, the white wheel will turn and below it will be shown the COM port to which you're connected and a solid thin red bar will begin to fill a space in the viewer showing you the progress.
Also, be sure when attempting the first steps I gave you to boot into recovery that you are not USB connected. It won't work.
And, try to remember if your phone was well enough charged, should have been at least 80% full. It happened to me once that I couldn't boot recovery and my phone would go to fastboot like yours until I left it alone to charge and then I repeated the stepsvi laid out to get back into recovery. This part is paramount!
Please READ CAREFULLY
I used to be in your same situation. I thought I had bricked my phone for good. I finally figured it out. Here is my solution from my Thread.
Esteef said:
Okay, after 12+ hours of trying every method possible on XDA I finally resolved my issue. I will update the first post just incase any others care or fall into the same dilemma I was in.
The LG Mobile Support tool would not download the firmware and it would NOT ask me for my IMEI to download it either.
So my solution....
***
Installed LG Mobile Support Tool then Installed the LG Drivers. (FROM HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471370
BEFORE I connected the phone to the computer. I opened the LG Mobile support tool clicked (Options on the top right).
When the dropped down opened, I clicked the (Upgrade Recovery) option. THEN, is when the prompt opened to ask me what my IMEI is.
Before I entered my IMEI, I connected my phone to the computer in download mode, then proceeded to enter my IMEI and hit OK.
This is when the LG Mobile Support tool SUCCESSFULLY downloaded the latest official LG firmware and installed it.
*** BE AWARE, with the phone connected to the PC, the prompt NEVER appeared to enter my IMEI.
*** But with the phone disconnected, the prompt came up every time. This might be the trick for some people.
*** with the IMEI prompt opened, I then connected the phone , entered the IMEI, then hit OK. BOOM HERPES....
Well I'll polish this up more later. I hope this works for every LG G2 Variant and not just the T-Mobile one (D801)

1. Hold the power button until the device is OFF.
2. Download LG drivers to the PC (LG VZW_United_WHQL_v2.11.1) and LG mobile support tool (B2CAppSetup).
3. Install these packages.
4. Plug in you USB cable into the phone but not the computer.
5. Hold volume up and insert the USB cable to the PC- the phone should boot to 'download mode'.
6. Open the support tool and click Options>Upgrade Recovery, follow the prompts.
7. At the first prompt indentify your phone using IMEI/ESN, then click OK
8. Let it do its thing, the phone will reboot and most likely have a bunch of error messages and some FC's. Just hit okay to all messages, the phone will settle after 2 minutes or so.
9. Download freegee from market and reflash recovery of your choice.
10. Make sure you have a ROM saved to the SD to flash
11. Use freegee to reboot to recovery
12. Once in recovery you can reflash the ROM as normal.
13. Reboot and Profit!
*$* Or you could go back to Stock and start fresh!
*$* BEFORE ANY FLASH ALWAYS STOP and MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!

I'm stuck in bootloop, no custom recovery or root. All data has been deleted. I have tried the LG support tool, but it locks up. It also tells me my device is a test model, something bad has happened. I can get into download mode but can't flash stock, via the flash tool. It says wrong device, and at the download screen where my phone says rooted it says the model is a D802! Somehow this info got jacked up! I can almost make it through the D802 flash but it fails also. I only did that to confirm my suspicion that the phone thinks its a different model. I'm open to anything, I've tried it all.

it still said rooted ... I told the tech straight up it was my fault and mentioned I wished I had gotten the n3 and he said it was on the list as an approved replacement I was stoked

You were right, I was doing it wrong. Once I got into download mode it went easy.
Response to others, I found that if I held vol down by itself long enough, the phone would stop bootlooping and shut off. I could then properly go into download mode.
Thanks for the help

How was this resolved?
My phone went off while i was asleep this morning, and i accidentally hit the "Update Now" button for the 4.4.2 update. I was rooted, so of course it bricked. I'm stuck in CWM with no custom rom, my computer doesn't recognize the VS980 drivers (even after installing) and i'm at my wits end!
ADB doesnt recognize the device either, by the way.
If there was ANY way my computer could "see" my phone i could sideload a custom rom and force through this bootloop... any help?
I have also tried the Hard Reset, wiping every cache, and factory resets to no avail...
Me too
I just took the OTA verizon kitkat update and all it does now is flash the LG logo. I think we are screwed.

if you hold volume down + power, wait for the lg logo to turn on, then release and re-press power, itll kick over to the hard reset screen.
If your phone DOESNT say Rooted in the top left, you can get a warranty refund and get a new phone. Mine totally does, so yes, im screwed.
They tried that at Verizon store

It did not do anything for them so they are sending me a replacement under warranty. I would try it with them it dont hurt to try. I thought I read somewhere that rooting does not void warranty but maybe im wrong. Good luck
I had same exact problem. See thread below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2451696
Basically whats happening is your phone is trying to reboot to install OTA but cannot initialize update because you're rooted and have a custom recovery installed. So it's just sitting there in limbo because it doesnt know what to do. And actually thats good news cuz nothing has been installed yet. The command in the above thread just kills the OTA and lets you reboot normally.

Just remove the battery, put it back again and go into recovery mode (twrp). And do a clean flash again. If it doesnt work, then just flash another rom. Put the rom inside the sd card and flash it via twrp

When you put the battery back., do you press and hold down volume down and power button and then whe I the logo appears you rapidly release and press and hold the power button without removing the finger from the volume down?
Its all about timing to be honest. Took me about 10 tries before I noticed I was being stupid. Right before the corrupted screen shows up, there is a very small window that you have to do this at. What I do is this.
I hold the volume down button while it is fully powered off.
The I press the power button and as soon as I see the LG Logo (It pops up for a split second before the corrupt screen) I let go of the power button and then press it imminently after I let go of it and TWRP shows up in a few seconds.
Again, its all about timing.

Did you install the H918 Rom or the US996 Rom?? If you didnt flash the TMO rom then you might be SOL. And it seems that whatever happened crashed TWRP as well... Are you able to get adb to detect the device?

To be honest, im the least qualified to try to help! It just stays at the lg logo the entire time? No static screen or anything? And TWRP crashes no matter what? If you can get it into download mode you could try to restore jt using a KDZ for your model?

You could try LGUP to see if you can restore it. Just make sure its the right model..

you could try to push TWRP into the system by using adb, just in case it has become corrupted. Then, if that is the issue then that should fix it.

pull battery out put back in. Hold volume down, plug in USB to get into fastboot

Weta is amazing, just use the one for your phone! Or it wont function. If you have the tmobile model then only use the tmobile rom xD Just make a backup in TWRP before flashing so you dont have to start completely over.
