[Q] when is android 4.4 officially on the nexus 4? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I couldn't find anything on the internet or YouTube to point me in the right direction.

itll be out officially when google officially releases it. only google knows when that will be. asking when its going to be will only get you opinions when the person giving the opinion thinks google will release it.

The rumours are "somewhere in the coming weeks". There's no official ETA. Best is to be patient. It will be there when it's there.

HTC stated the Google Play Edition HTC One would be getting 4.4 within 15 days of KitKats unveiling/release (October 31), so we should be seeing KitKat for Nexus 4 within the next few days. I don't think Google would want to risk alienating Nexus users any further by releasing an update to another device before Nexus devices.

Really?

Oh don't get in a hurry. They completed a feat of epic proportions to launch this with JB. Rest assured they will rest on their laurels and update 4.2 when they feel like it. I predict 8+ months after the official US launch, sadly.
I'm actually fine with JB, I could care less with multiple accounts as the only time someone else will be using my phone is for a game or a phone call. JB w/ Proj Butter is all I need

Yeah, that's what I had read too. It's called project roadrunner.
It will be interesting to see how much more it improves the already stellar battery life of the note 2. That is if the rumors are even true.

EVEN if the rumor was true about 4.2 having much better battery life. It'll matter more to that HTC 1080p device than the Note 2, considering how good the battery life is on the Note 2 -and- the fact that it's removable.

It has been proven, "facetious" and "satire" don't work on public forums.
Forums only activate the lowest 10 percent of available brain cells.
Only thing lower would be Yahoo news report reader comments.

The Question is Do you need Root Today.\?
You do not have to ask permission to root or not..With this being a nexus and knowing you made backups(well even if you did not) you can very easily go back to Stock or near stock.
I think google is going to skip the 42 update . They are may be afraid someone will have a heart attack caused by over excitment for the push of the file.. They will delay it to a less enthusiastic time...

Because Android is hardware agnostic, meaning it is not related to any particular device. It's not exclusive to the N7. This forum is specific for N7 related issues. Which is why such a question in this forum is out of place.

I don't believe it'll be exactly on the day. They say 15 days from its announcement. 4.4 was announced on a Thursday. I give them props for the confidence in releasing dates so soon unlike Samsung that just has nothing really. Also if they are pushing it I'll be okay if its within a few days or a week from their proposed day. People get to attached to etas . just wait.

If they do deliver on their promise of today/tomorrow, that'd be awesome.
Someone on reddit posted it might be 15 workdays, which might make more sense and is probably likely if it isn't released today or tomorrow.
Football did tweet that 4.4 GE was nearly finished/ready for rollout and sense 5.5 on android 4.4 was in early testing.
We'll see, I guess. I'm probably gonna convert to GE until android 4.4 + Sense 5.5 comes out.

Will the HTC One for the US (the Unlocked) omit the 4.3 update and go straight to 4.4 KitKat?
Although I'm not that eager for 4.4 it's the fact that we still don't have the new Sense yet that makes me ask.

It already has 4.3. If you're talking about Sense 5.5, then no, it won't get it until it gets the 4.4 update.
The details of the KitKat rollout for the HTC One were shared in an interview with Engadget.
http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/31/htc-one-android-kitkat/
Here are the highlights:
HTC one GPe within 15 days,
HTC One Developer Edition within 30 days
All other North American HTC One SKUs (including all carrier variants) within 90 days
These details were shared on October 31. For HTC to keep the deadline, the HTC One GPe update will need to be released tomorrow and the Dev Edition needs to get its update by the end of November.
