[Q] Notification led for mms? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Having an issue with the led not lighting for mms message notifications using the themed/modded stock messaging app from the themes section. I honestly dont remember if it worked on stock or not. Can somebody please confirm if the led notification works for receiving mms on the stock app? Thanks!

I can confirm that it does work on the stock app.

Thanks for the confirmation. I must have screwed something up as I pushed the stock messaging apk back and still do not have the led light for mms. Works fine for sms and I get the audio and vibration just no led.

I have this same problem led only comes on when charging. Never comes on as a notification for missed calls or texts. I use handcent and CM 6.1.1

And I do have all options for the notification led on in handcent. and on the rom.
Well the aria isn't able to change led color it only supports green or red

Do you have "settings > call settings > missed call LED notify" enabled?
Cool I changed the the color from blue to red in handcent. Rebooted the phone (didn't work till reboot) it works just fine for all notifications. Thanks.

Thanks for the link, but I wish it wasn't required!! Seems kind of pointless having an LED with the default settings, possibly a firmware bug?
Note:
On the up side, after installing that app, I'm yet the find a colour the LED can't manage
Yep thanks for the app and yeah agree should be stock android to pick colours

LED notification in my Nexus 4 doesn't work fully

Hello guys as the thread says, my LED notifications doesnt work after a missed call. it works perfectly after receiving an sms and e-mail, but not after a missed call. I have stock 4.3 android and stock dialer + sms. I know, that after changing the stock dialer to a custom one (exdialer, dialer one) it will work, but i would like to stay at the stock one, because i like it
Thanks
And your question is 'Why won't my LED always work at certain applications?'?
If yes, try LightFlow, you can find it at the Play Store.

there is so much stuff to learn about that phone ...

Hangout Alternatives

Hello I was wondering what everyone was using instead of Google's hangouts app for SMS. I am stuck looking for a good alternative. Also I saw an AOSP SMS app with the sliding side bar kind of how hangouts has it now but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Go SMS works well... had tried it earlier...
Sliding messaging
Ninja sms ftw. It is a paid app, but the window is wonderful. Reply without leaving the app youre using is great.

You may try 8SMS
I'm still using the old messaging app, isn't that included in 4.4 rom? (I personally flashed 4.4 over 4.3, so it's still there).

[Q] Read LED Notifications

Hi all. I have been doing some searching around for a way to get the rear LED to light up in any way shape or form for apps, specifically SMS.
Has anyone found a way to get it on AT ALL using apps like Light Flow or Light Manager? Stock or a custom ROM? If you have gotten it on in anyway at all, please let me know! (And how you did it please)
I spent some time emailing with the LightFlow dev last night too, and he is interested in getting control over it too. So anything to get it on is great.
Thanks everyone!

In another thread it was stated that Flashnotification works (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manzy.flashnotification). I did not try it yet.

Just tried, same results.
I have it half on with this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958939
Working on full access. Ill keep everyone updated.
To use that app install it and enable it in accessibility. Then open the app and go to auto locate. Choose your LED here. "button-backlight1" is for the left, "button-backlight2" is for the right. It will probably just show you up to the word "button: though. But it appears twice, once on the left of the screen, once on the right. Choose either side. And that's it. It will flash when you get a notification.
Light flow works for me rooted on stock Rom. ...you have to enable it in settings then enable it in the setting for the specific notification You want. .. but now blink or pulse. ....tell the light flow dev to add this option to his app

I sent him an email about this a few minutes ago. But light flow also only lights up half of the ring, the right side to be specific. If you use the app I linked above you can get either half (left or right) working and it blinks!
Ill let you know any updates I get, but at least it is half blinking now!
Worked some more with the light flow dev. We have gotten the FULL led ring to light up! It is currently solid. Ill post more as it develops.
In the meantime here is a picture of my device, using lightflow, when I receive an SMS. Enjoy for now!
