Hello,
I recently rooted my phone via Kingo root and flashed safestrap. Whenever I did that, the phone wouldn't show up on the PC as a device. Doesn't try to install any drivers, PC doesn't show that the device is even connected. Now I read somewhere, but I can't find it now, that safestrap disables the ability to mount the sd or use MTP. Well, I have uninstalled safestrap via command line, uninstalled the apk, removed root via Kingo. That didn't work. I just now flashed the MF3 stock image via Odin and it still doesn't work.
The computer can see the device in download mode, but not when it's powered on. It does not recognize it in recovery either. I have flashed the stock image twice now. With the bootloader, modem, PDA, and CDC.
I have installed the drivers from samsungs website. Uninstalled and reinstalled. I have used multiple cords. All of which worked before I rooted and flashed safestrap, and work currently on my fiance's S3.
It's not the cord, it's not the drivers. I'm at a loss.
I want to trade this phone for an HTC one but I don't really want to do it if it doesn't function correctly.
Any suggestions?
Bump

Bump for help
I have a similar issue with my sprint LG-LS980 [STOCK] Rooted I've tried multiple LG drivers but my computer (windows 7) tells me that the driver installation has failed every time I plug in my phone. I am still able to transfer files with wireless storage.
I need either getting the drivers to work or flashing back to stock rom without using a usb transfer cable
what I did
Hey I had a similar problem, could only get on cwm, couldn't get adb to work after the ota.
I did what this person suggested and installed pdanet drivers on my computer and it worked great!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563527
I then went to cwm to sideload, I sideloaded twrp then did what this guy said:

So, I installed Kingo 1.2.2.1915, installed Samsung drivers, and Kingo would not root the device, it kept saying USB debugging was off, and I verified several times it was on. So I went the Vroot method and it rooted in 3 seconds (seriously). I was surprised it went so fast. I was able to install Safestrap successfully, but after I rebooted (and can see Safestrap recovery on reboot), the phone no longer has root. I tried rooting again using either Kingo or Vroot, now neither app will detect my device. They both behave like USB debugging is off, but it's clearly on. Otherwise, the device works fine. Any thoughts?

Try downloading Chainfires flashable supersu zip from here and install it in safestrap.
Thanks! Worked like a champ!

I have an sgh-i337. I rooted a couple of weeks ago by downgrading, rooting, installing ss, then flashing a rooted nb1. Since then, when I connect my phone to my surface pro it shows connected as installer then gets stuck in a bootloop. I've updated drivers, and even tried Kies. Hasn't worked.

I'm having the same issue on my PC. Oddly it was working fine before. I had no problems on SHOstock-i with SS 3.71, then I switched to GoldenEye with SS 3.72 and it was working for a short time, but now my phone restarts whenever I connect it to my PC. Perhaps it has something to do with SS 3.72? I'm going to try downgrading SS and I'll report back.
What ROM are you using? Did you use a debloater tool?

Downgrading to SS 3.71 didn't help. Although I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers and after the install finishes the "Installing device driver software" dialog for Windows comes up and then reports that no driver was found. Were you able to get the USB driver installed where it says in that dialog that it installed the driver properly?
EDIT: I figured out how to fix it! Go into the Device Manager before plugging in your GS4, then once you plug it in (assuming your device doesn't immediately restart) you should be able to see two SAMSUNG_Android listings and some unknown devices. I right-clicked on one the SAMSUNG_Android listings and chose update driver. Then I chose "Browse my computer for update software" then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". I only had a single listing that was Samsung ADB or something similar that I chose. Then I did the same for the other SAMSUNG_Android listing in the Device Manager. I ignored the unknown devices. Once you're finished, change your GS4 to MTP mode. I think the Samsung ADB driver that was listed might have come from the Helium backup software I installed, so you might need to download that to get the driver from it if you don't see a driver.
Hi,
I was trying to flash cloudy g3, I put in all the files necessary into the phone, went to the recovery and wiped everything including internal memory.
Now I am stuck as I cant transfer anything into my phone.
PC doesn't recognize it, so I can't use adb sideload.
I can get into download mode and recovery
I tried using OTG but TWRP won't mount it.
I tried using back to stock method but since the computer doesn't recognize it, there is no way to do that.
Please help
What is the model of the phone ?.

Thanks guys
Bonehead move I know. Now I need some help to fix. I flashed a stock 5.0 ROM and everything was working fine. Got the 5.0.1 prompt so I flashed a stock recovery (4.4.4 hence my problem). Of course the update wouldn't flash. Now to complicate things all of a sudden my PC won't detect my Nexus 4. It detects my wife's Nexus 4 fine so I'm thinking not a cable or driver problem. Ive tried multiple cables and reinstalled drivers with no luck. So now I need to root and or install custom recovery without a PC. Any ideas?

You're going to need to get your pc to recognize your device. When booted into the bootloader and your device connected to the pc look in device manager. What does it show?

It doesn't show anything. Its as if it isn't connected at all. I've tried from the bootloader and recovery screens and also rebooted both phone and pc. Still shows nothing in device manager. Phone shows charging but no mtp notification or anything that it is connected. As soon as I plug our other nexus 4 in the pc recognizes it immediately.

I would try deleting your usb drivers on the pc, rebooting and then trying your device again. Flashing the 4.4.4 recovery should not have done anything to mess up your device

OK I will try that again and post results. Another possible problem I noticed is in root explorer I have a directory of emulated/0 I don't remember having before.

To root your device use towelroot from your device. Although I don't know what you're going to do with root. Also, can you get the device detected by your pc when you're booted into recovery or the device?

Towelroot wouldn't work. Says device isn't supported. Maybe it will get updated to work on lollipop. If I could obtain root I can flash custom recovery and start with a fresh install. Just have to find a way to do it with an app
