[Q] Reinstall custom ROM after stock ROM install - Surround General

Hello there, and first of all excuse my english, I'll try to explain my question as best as I can
I have an htc Surround running a custom ROM (the phone was already running an old DFT ROM when I got my hands on it), after some research I am still doubting if flashing my phone with a stock ROM can lock something making it unable to reinstall the current Custom ROM on my phone.
It's just a simple question, but can't find any clear info about that, so I am asking as my last resource, I don't want to lock the bootloader or something like that.
My plan is to install a stock ROM, then upgrade it step-by-step to 7.8 using the Seven-Eighter tool, and if anything goes wrong or I don't like it, reinstall the custom ROM from always using the RUU I have on my hard disk
If need to post some info about my phone feel free to ask about it.
Regards and thanks for reading!

Hi, it's me again
Reading more I find this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647
looks like I should lose my HSPL (as I refer to bootloader in my previous post) if I flash using a stock ROM using the RUU from NODO.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Regards

to flash an english OS over danish OS ROM

I have just bought htc touch hd with dansih OS rom. the phone is locked to danish 3g (www.3.dk).
#1. Any thing I need to take care to flash a new OS on a locked phone?
#2. Do I need to find&save the configuration for 3g setup thus after I
flash to english OS, I will still be able to call&surf?
#3. How could I backup the complete ROM thus when something goes wrong
I could revert to original ROM and retrun the phone?
I tried to find the answer int he forum, but failed. Thanks in advance for your answer.
Now I started to get some answer to my own question:
#1. I will need to have SSPL or HSPL to flash my rom to another language
I prefer to SSPL.
#2. The phone will still be locked to 3.com after flashing which I don't care
Still questions:
#1. Any setup related to 3.com for internet surfing?
#2. How I could backup original ROM and revert to the original ROM?
I am living in DK and got the same phone from 3.
Used USPL when flashing, and no problems at all.
The phone will automatically get 3;s settings from the network.
The original Danish rom is available in the rom development forum in one of the stickies
Thank you for the answer. I will try to flash it then.
Just a piece of advice - MUST read wiki pages regarding flashing ROMS. This will enable you to flash the device with confidence and will prevent any possibility of DAMAGE you may cause during flashing.
Credit to those pages goes to respective authors.
Thank you. I have just successfully flashed HD to the latest english version
with the advice from wiki and you.
Everything works fine.
Got another couple of questions:
#1. What is the difference of "fully power off" from "soft reset"
#2. GPS and AGPS. How does GPS work in HD?
Is that possible to turn it on/off manually to save power if navigation is not needed.
#3. Do you have any recommendation of a cooked ROM? My taste is to have a lite version. e.g.: I don't really need google maps which I could install at any time when needed.
Thanks.

Question about ROM Flashing

I was just wondering, if I want to flash another ROM while I already have a ROM being flashed (non stock) do I just flash the new ROM that I want or do I have to run HSPL3 again or what do I do?
Sorry if this has been answered already, I tried searching but I never got an answer for this specific question, but if its on here, just point me in my way and close the thread.
Thanks
Also, where can I download HaRet and ClrCad, i want to give the android thing a try.
thanks, once again.
once you flash hspl you will remain unlocked till you flash a factory rom.
IT's in the flashing guide
Android question I'm not even going to answer that. read guide to android and HD2
Alright, cool man.
And since you asked about android and HSPL in the same post, I'll just make sure you're aware that running haret (and therefore android), doesn't require HSPL'ing your HD2.
Like TM said, just get yourself lost in the new HD2 Android forum section, and the guides there will tell you everything you need to know

[Q] Back 2 Da Basic

OK, thanks to everyone here I finally flashed my HD2 and I liked it a lot. I tried the Energy Rom and Core Cell Rom and they both worked great and have there advantages. But I have a new question now. I want to change my phone back to stock, which stock rom should I download? And is the installlation process the same as flashing the phone with a custom rom?
hmmm...
im assumin you have a tmous HD2. if so you can find the original tmobile rom on their website. just search for hd2 software update on the search portion. same as here, you can find it. just gotta look and not ask a question when you can find it yourself. also i think this question doesnt belong under this thread mayb under HD2 general..
http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm54430.xml thats helpful... use it to flash back..
ok, thanks for the help. but i have a question and something else as well. I clicked on the link and read over everything it says:
NOTE: The software update is only designed to update the ROM version from 2.10.531.1 and 2.13.531.1 to 3.14.531.1. If at any point the software was changed from 2.10.531.1 or 2.13.531.1 by flashing to unsupported software, sometimes called rooting or hacking, then we strongly recommend you do not perform this update, as it was not designed to update unsupported software.
It seems like their saying don't use this update if I flashed another rom besides the stock rom which it came with. So exactly what do I do from here? Not trying to sound slow or anything, but I want to becareful with these things. And besides I don't have a spare phone to use and would hate to brick this one up. Any help is appreciated.
I got my TMOUS HD2 yesterday and to go around customs, I asked if the seller could flash there nonbootable ROM, which I made (HTC Oboe XIP and no IMGFS to be sure it wouldn't boot ). When it arrived, I just flashed the 3.14 ROM without single errors and keeping HSPL2.
Do it, there won't be problems .
this thread came in time. today i got a message from tmobile indicating that there is a new update available. i wanna give it a shot and if i don't like it then I'm going to upgrade to the cell core v3 since i've been using v2 for a while

[Q] orange debrand

hi all newbie here i need to debrand my htc touch hd from orange any ideas which is the best way to go?
thanks in advance
moved, this is not development, it is a question.
the best way to get from a software branded version to a stock htc version, is to flash either an unbranded stock rom or a customized cooked rom from the forum here.
stock roms can be found on shipped-roms.com and necessary tools and instructions on how to flash a rom, including first unlocking the device can be found on the blackstone winmo development forum (where you first posted this question).
if you have never flashed a windows mobile device before, it might take a lot of reading to get prepared, but it is worth it. also, if you decide to go through with it, any possible questions you might have, please post them here before attempting to flash, because it is always easier to clarify things in before, than restoring an (almost) broken device afterwards.

[Q] HTC 7 Trophy Unlock

I'm brand new to this, but i want to unlock my windows phone so i can put custom apps and themes and so on on it. I'm currently running the latest update and running the mango build, i was wondering, how do i unlock my phone, i've been searching and searching and i think i may have to downgrade my phone, i'd like help with this however incase i do anything wrong or if i use the wrong programmes to do this. Help would be appreciated.
You have to flash this thing called HSPL to your Trophy. The instructions are all here!
The HSPL allows custom roms on your device, but it doesn't unlock it. After you flash HSPL, you then have to install a custom rom that comes with an unlock (most roms do). Good luck!
