So after Rooting my phone, and trying several different times, I cannot figure out how to move apps to the SD card.
1) I ran ADB and ran the command "set-install-location 2" and verified that and that didn't work.
2) I Re- Partitioned the SD card, and had the Install Location set to 2, and it still didn't work.
3) Using Link2SD, I cannot move the apps, and Apps2SD it just redirects you to the App in the Setting menu, but the option doesn't show up.
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong becuase this is annoying me and my sister who has even less Internal Memory then me.
I have the LG Optimus F7, not L7, but there isnt a forum for that. My sister has the Samsung Apex.
Thanks for any info.
if your phone is rooted then you can install titanium backup which can move apps from internal to external and vise versa,,it can do backups too,,

So my SD card was removed (kids) and now I cannot access any of the apps on the card. I've tried unmounting correctly, replacing the card, taking out the battery, etc. and nothing is working.
The fun part is that all of my apps needed to recover are on the card (ROM Manager, Titanium Backup, Market, etc). I'm guessing I should have put those in internal memory. I've removed a lot of the bloatware, including the apks that allow you to sync to a PC (I never use that method), so I can't get access to the SD card from my computer. There are very few apps in my internal memory. I'm rooted running using NFX-Sprint.STOCK.2.32.651.2.ODEX.A2SD. Any suggestions on what to do? Any help is appreciated.
So you have confirmed that the SD card is operational already?

IDK if that rom comes with the "dev tools" app, but if so you could try to run the media scanner in there, or an app from the market that does something similar. As for accessing it, you should be able to do that from recovery and adb even if the phone can't find the sd (assuming the SD isn't fried). Also, does it work in a card reader alone? If not you may be hosed. I never put gapps onto the SD, and never TB either. For future use you could try firerats, it increases your internal memory, that way if your sd fails your apps are all fine.
The sd card does work b/c I'm able to access photos stored on the card (when sending an email I can attach the photos). As for running media scanner, I don't think this rom has it, but I'll look. As far as using recovery, how would I do that since I can't access ROM Manager or anything. That may be quite a noob question so forgive me there.
Reinstall rom manager and reflash clockwork. Hopefully you had the newer version or you'll have corrupt nands.

To access recovery without clockwork, you just need to go into your bootloader (on evo you get there by turning phone off, hold volume down and press power button to turn on, should open bootloader,) and you can boot to recovery from there. May be same combo for heroc, or may involve trackball. Im not sure how you can fix your situation from recovery, but bootloader is the traditional way to get to recovery. Good luck.

ok have my phone rooted, i had previously managed to install setInstallLocation, which helped me put most of the apps to sd card. However i belive with root, you can actually make more space to install apps, to the sd card, which includes partitioning memory card, can anyone please ponit me towards doing so, have searched, but cannot find the right solution please.
titanium backup, long press the app then you ill get a long lest of option, choose "move to sd" if available.
you can't move stock XP games (Sims, fifa..) but you can move the one you downloaded (alpha 6, backstabe) even though they don't support it, and it wont cause any problems with them.
Been searching for a while but am confused. Never needed to use my external SD on vibrant until recently. Now I have a question. I have two different ROM versions on my phone and I use ROM manager to keep them backed up and I use restore to go from one to the other.
The question is, now that I had to move some apps to my sd card (using Apps2SD), what happens when I switch ROMS by using restore?
Do I need two different partitions on the SD card, one for each ROM? If so how do I do this, and how do I know which partition each ROM will use?
I have read many warnings about partitioning using ROM Manager so I am kind of leary of using it.
Can anyone explain this to me? Never thought about it before because the Vibrant has so much memory available.
Thanks.
Any ideas?
I'm sure lots of people have done this before, just not me.
Can anyone explain this to me please?
Thanks in advance.

I have NEVER heard good things about partitioning your SD card with ROM mgr. NOt sure why you would anyways. The internal is already partitioned anyway. That is why we have a phone marketed with 16gb internal but when you pull settings>sdcard it shows only 14gb. Where are the other 2gb at? There are already partitioned to put your apps there. Use Root Explored and go to /Data, /datadata/, /dalvik-cache and you'll notice that they are all the same size-nearly 2 gb. Viola!!!
As far as restoring. I don't use native App2sd but I know how it works. W/o getting too technical, it puts part of the app's apk (executable functions and data) in a folder called .androidsecure on your sdcard (if you want to view this folder, you have to plug into PC and make sure Hidden Files are viewable). Now to your question. Whenever I have backed up, I always see at the end when it is cycling through your partitons (/system, /data,...) it says something like "backing up .androidsecure"-file not found*b/c I don't use it is why it isn't found. So you can back that up if there is something in it, flash new ROM redownload your apps and move to App2sd, back up and when you restore it should restore the .androidsecure partition.
Sorry for the long response but you asked two questions there. Now for my question. How many friggin apps do you have to fill up everything and bleed over into the app2sd part too? Does your phone lag? How is battery life?
Using App 2 SD Pro
Perhaps I didn't give enough info, but I am using an app, called App 2 SD Pro, to move apps back and forth to and from SD card.
It shows Moveable = 98, on SD card = 17, and phone only = 98, so I suppose it have 213 if it is correct.
Thanks for the info about restoring. I will have to study your answer in more detail before I can give any more answers, or ask any further questions.
re download my apps
Part of your answer above was redownload my apps.
Don't want to do that. If I move some of my apps to the sd card using the app "App 2 SD Pro" and then do a backup using ROM manager, then restore another ROM using ROM Manager, which also has apps on the sd card, what happens to them?
I have done this and it seemed to me that some of the apps which had been moved to the sd card did not show up on the restored ROM.
This is why I asked about partitioning, maybe using one section of the external sd card for one ROM and one section for the other.
My phone is soft-rooted with Framaroot, but when I try to move apps to my SD card. the option is greyed out. Is there a workaround for this?
EDIT:
I found a simple solution that worked for me, maybe it helps someone:
1. I reset my phone to factory settings, let my google acc. sync apps etc.
2. Installed and ran Framaroot (root setting Gandalf).
3. Normal reset phone.
4. Installed and ran App 2 SD, it allowed me to move most installed apps like games to my SD card normally, no other changes necessary.
* Note: When entering android app info, "Move to SD" is still greyed out, but moving apps works when moving from App 2 SD.

Thanks, I found another solution although I am not sure how this worked. This is what I did, maybe this helps someone:

Most difficult part for me was literally the partitioning of the SD card and finally the SD fix option did the trick.
Spent a couple of hours trying to get the most optimized partitions configuration for a 32G SD. The first partition have to be the fat32 media one, period... and the Ext3 for the second system partition was the furthest I could get that actually worked, as for the partition table did try the gpt witch is actually more functional than msdos nevertheless the android system did not like it very much, at all.
On a just-bought SD card tables there isn't always an option for two ,or more, primary partitions so had to delete the existing volume and create a new table. Anyways the only part that didn't get is how to fix the swap error I get when try to turn on the 1G swap partition I've created in advance while on PC, for the Partition Tool did nothing close to format after requested reboot. The error is like
Code:
sh: <stdin>[122]: swapon: not found
and
Code:
sh: <stdin>[78]: swapoff: not found
for the turn off the default 0MB swap.
Not really sure what it means but I assume it is some /sh file missing though couldn't find much to do with terminal or busybox applets that, to me, seem related.
Any suggestions, how to fix it?
Alright... As you might have noticed, I Have a LG K8 K350Z, wich I rooted 4 to 5 months ago I think.
I rooted this phone just to use Link2SD, since I have the 8GB variant, And I kinda succeded.
After rooting and moving apps to the SD second partition (The card has a fat32 and an ext4 partition), I noticed some strange things.
First of all, I noticed that if I move something from the phone to the first partition without using a computer, the archive will be "moved" but no app can find it there but the file manager (ie. moving a song, then no app will detect that song. even if I reboot this crap). Then I have to move it back to the phone and move it to the sd card using a computer, then the archive will be detected.
And to get it worst, I just noticed that no apps I move to the SD Card will save its data. I play a racing game, wich everytime since I moved it to the SD card, I keep returning to the same spot (same last upgraded car part, same garage, etc.). Apps like google maps keep crashing if they try to download anything into the phone.
Also, I cant choose to store my camera pictures to the SD card. The option simply isnt there.
Is there any way to fix this damn phone? I had an LG L70 D325F8 before, I did the same procedure and it worked fine until it was stolen. Also, a way to fix this crap wich isnt "not using Link2SD" if possible... this phone is starting to annoy me.
Sorry if there's any typo or anything wrong there, since I'm not a native english speaker.
