My S4 tends to lose network signal quite frequently and I get a message "Not Registered on Network" its really frustrating as important calls are often missed.
I must restart the phone to regain my signal back. I have also gotten a replacement sim from my provider but that doesn't seem to have helped at all.
The issue still persists.
Last night I have upgraded my firmware to 4.3 in hope that would clear the issue but it just has happened again.
I do not think there is anything wrong with the handset before anyone suggest that.
How can this be solved?
Thank you,
alpha9ner
anyone?

This are steps for upgrade ur MODEM/Baseband:
- Use Odin v3.09
- Untick Autoreboot
- Flash modem
- Reboot manually into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)
- Flash Modem once more
- Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
- If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.
Hi All,
I have a galaxy S4 UK Vodafone.
As you can see from the title, my phone suddenly during the day lost signal.
I hadn't flashed a rom for weeks!
I checked when I got home and the IMEI and the baseband are 'Unknown'.
I have the following -
i9505-cwm-recovery-6.0.3.2(0611)
ROM = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47326687#post47326687
I tried downloading and flashing official firmware but still the same error.
I read possibly something to do with the baseband?
I hope someone can help with this, as it doesn't look promising.
Thanks in advance

Flash STOCK ROM and try if it solve ur problem: HERE
Thank you for the fast reply.
In my post where I said "I tried downloading and flashing official firmware", it is was that exact stock firmware you just linked to.
VOD-I9505XXUEMK9-20131202101533
And I get the same problem
Also, on first boot of that stock rom, the default language is Polish I think.
Is this bad?

1. Take out ur SIM CARD and try it in other phone till it takes signal
2. Put it back to ur phone and try it again. Take a look if u recovered IMEI and Baseband
3. If that no works, i think u will have to let it in SAT
I don't have a spare phone at the moment, does it have to be a vodafone phone?
Pardon my noobishness, but what does 'let it in SAT' mean?

1. Yes, for try it takes signal and u can catch the baseband and IMEI of that phone
2. Technical Assistance Service
1. Sorry, was that yes as in "Yes I need to put it in a Vodafone phone?"
2. Oh I see, Do they charge a lot of money to fix such a problem?
Could I possibly have the wrong version of the modem installed?

I don't have any other Samsung cables, I have other USB cables, but not Samsung.
Before flashing the stock ROM, I wipe/factory reset in CWM, and wipe dalvik cache.
Is there anything else I should be doing?

I used a different cable, it comes up with the same problems.
These are the steps I followed.
* Open Odin 3.09
* "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" are ticked
* Click "AP"
* Select I9505XXUEMK9_I9505VFGEMK2_I9505XXUEMK9_HOME.tar.md5
* Put S4 in Download Mode, Power button and Down-Volume button.
* Connect with new cable, Press start.
I have the modem - I9505XXUEMK9_MODEM
I used the "CP" Option in ODIN To flash the modem.
Are all these steps correct?

Yes, but remember modem sometimes is stubborn . Follow this steps:
1. Use Odin v3.09
2. Untick Autoreboot
3. Flash modem (Usign CP button)
4. Reboot manually (Take the battery off) and go into Download Mode then (using Vol Down plus Home button combi)
5. Flash Modem once more
6. Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
7. If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.

I repeated steps 1-6 twice, still nothing
So if I take it to a SAT (Phone repair shop?) What exactly do they need to do to fix it?
I presume they don't just wave a magic wand
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 Australian Model. The Snapdragon one.
I initially had Omega V10, I upgraded to V18 and the sound turned itself on and off, but then it started rebooting randomly and sound stopped all together. I upgraded to V19 with the same issue of no sound after the first call is made. I re-installed V19, V18 & 10 a few times. I flashed the appropriate modem for my old boot-loader several times on each rom and done clean installs as well.
I then moved to the Pheonix ROM, Installed exactly as the instructions stated. I then installed the modem as per instructions as I was having issues with the GSM/LTE then after the first call sound stopped working all together. I flashed ROM again and again, flashed the modem again, flashed a Wi-Fi Fix modem, flashed the kernel a couple of times and sound still doesn't work. It's every time after the first call is made, it just disappears.
I then decided to do a stock recovery in Odin. I installed official stock firmware XXUBMG4. Still no sound, I was getting the sound on boot but now it's gone all together.
What's my next step here? I'm almost certain I didn't flash an incorrect modem file but maybe I did........Should I try installing official 4.3? Is this something to do with installing a modem that's higher than what I should have installed and now I can't go back but only forward eg: 4.3?
I've lost root now as I flashed the official stock firmware via Odin, I'm happy to do whatever it takes to get the sound working. I'm not fussed at all about warranty.

Before you flash the file your downloading now would you mind Downloading and extract this file (You should see GSM_Modem_XXUEMFK_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1.ta r)then flash the http://www.mediafire.com/download/48r0rgqv25s8968/GSM_Modem_XXUEMFK_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1.rar file with odin by selecting phone. I want you to turn off your phone manually and wait a few sec and Press and hold Power+ Volume down Until you reach Download mode. Now open odin and select PHONE/CP and flash away. Have a nice day.

I just flashed this but it didn't fix the sound, as soon as it loaded I had an error coming up in the notification bar asking me to reboot as something was detected, something along those lines. It's the first time I've seen that error come up...is that something to do with Knox?
I'll flash the file the firmware I'm downloading now in 10 mins then see what happens. Or should I flash the firmware then flash this modem after?

Okey Im guessing you have the new bootloader since you said "knox" try to download and extract this and flash the http://www.mediafire.com/download/hdzf6fbobotxi61/GSM_Modem_XXUEML4_and_LTE_Modem_XXUML4.rar file with odin by selecting phone. This is a fix only but if the problem still persist feel free to flash the file that other guy gave you. im only giving you this fix just because alot of people had this problem that got fixed.Go to Settings and make sure that modems flashed ok

Ok no worries. I've already flashed the other firmware that the other person gave me. I'm now flashing this modem as the sound didn't work still. I didn't have Knox until I downloaded the firmware the other person suggested to download. I don't care about voiding Knox as I don't need it or use it.
I'll see what happens when I flash this modem. Thanks!
Ok, so far I've flashed the Official Stock Firmware XXUBMG4. I then flashed the GSM_Modem_XXUEMFK_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1.tar. I then flashed the OPS 4.3 Firmware with Knox, I then flashed the XXUML4 Modem. None of this has fixed the sound, I'm not also getting random reboots every 30 secs or so.
So frustrating!! Why so complicated :S :S

If you just got a new bootloader aka Knox warranty Void that's okey , flashing any modem wont void your warranty . But if you flash a custom rom/Root then its over.If your knox got void means no more warranty for your device. Have a nice day.

Glad that file help's you mate. and yes flashing a wrong Wifi/LTE fix will break your sound on old bootloader.
Hey friends,
I really looked everything up, but I could not find anything what helped me with my problem.
I have a Galaxy S4 (GT-i9505) and I wanted to update my modem from MKE to ML6. Because I had some issues with updating it (there still was the MKE at my "Status" after updating to ML6), I tried to double-overwrite it (someone wrote at a forum, that that will solbe the overwriting method). So, I started Odin 3.09 and deleted the "Auto Reboot" option. After the first flashing, I took out the battery and replaced it again. Then I did a secound modem flashing. The result was: There was still the MKE modem AND I cannot call anyone. Everytime I try to call someone and I click the call button, my Galaxy seems to crash. The screen is getting black and I have to shut it down by holding the power button for several secounds. Of course, I already tried out other modems (like to MKE modem again and MJ8), but the problem still exists.
Could anybody please help me!
Thanks,
Robert

Open odin select PHONE/CP (Find the modem you download) Connect the cables (check to see if it shows added on top/or should be a blue?Notsure or wait atleast 10 sec) then click start ,once done , remove the cable. and after done rebooting go to you phone setting>More>Device info and check if your baseband version change. have a nice day.

Had the same thing yesterday, tried all sorts of modems, with no avail.
Ended up flashing a stock rooted Rom (MGA), flashing a custom recovery and restored a Nandroid. Forgot that flashing a complete stock Rom usually also wipes the internal SD so that was a bit of a hassle.
Now, running a new Rom again, with Wifi, sound and being able to make/receive calls again. Easiest fix also: flash a (compatible) stock Rom :good:

Thank you mate. I also found (5 sec before I read your post) this post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46969768&postcount=2
So, everything works now. The short version for other guys with the problems is:
- flash stock rom via Odin (PDA)
- you can find the stock rom for your country at sammobile.com
- also use the "pit-file" of the linked post (but I don't know, what the pit-file is changing?!)
optional:
- re-root your device again, because now it is not rooted
- new custom rom
Thanks for every help!!!

Except flashing the Wifi Fix was the thing I did to ruin it all. Don't flash a "new" Wifi fix using an old bootloader. You will lose sound/being able to make calls. It's the thing that messed it all up over here.

Almost same thing here, my 2ghz wifi works just fine, but 5ghz is not seeing my router. whenever i am in CM12 it works on both 2ghz and 5ghz, no problem.
Although i got it work on some times ago, cant remember how (probably result of flashing multiple rom after one another).
But now after update with Audax L v.22.1 it is not working again. don't know what is the problem.
Now downloading N9005XXUGBOB6_N9005OXXGBOB4_ROM.zip (Romania) for further testing.
are there any one facing same problem as mine or the thread OP?
@touseefiqbal did you tried with changing the router channels? it might help.
also any one have mega link for poland or romania rom? sammobile link is very slow for me.
