[Q] Help with Buckeye V2 Rom - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I'm new here with my LG G2 (D801 T-Mobile) and was trying to flash the Buckeye V2 rom onto my phone. I'm using TWRP 2.6.3.2 to install the rom. Yes I've rooted it and installed the recovery, backed up the stock root, and wiped before installation. For some reason after I install and system reboot, the phone starts with LG software still (albeit there's a google launch screen after an initial "LG" shows up). The build number in my system settings read Buckeye V2, but obviously I'm not running Kit Kat like I'm supposed to be (android version still 4.2.2). Anyone know how to fix this or am I doing something wrong still?

Bump

I may be wrong here since the description is not very clear but the ROM is a kitkat themed stock Rom but not an actual android 4.4 Rom.

Keep in mind that it might be ME that's wrong about all this. I'm new like I said.

I downloaded that in the link above. Is it not a rom? :l

I totally just got what you said and I'm facepalming myself. It's a themed rom to look like 4.4 but not an actual rom for 4.4? Got it. Even if that were the case, something went wrong since the interface is exactly the same as before I flashed it on there..

It has 4.4 apps and boot animation from kitkat..... the rest is a 4.2 rom

Got it. So no 4.4 for this device yet I take it.

Upgrading to 4.4 kit Kat

Hey guys quick question my n4 is rooted and running cm10.1.3. I never bothered to upgrade to 4.3, so my radio, kernel and bootloader are stock 4.2.2. Is it better to get the ota update and be up on things or flash stock kernel, boot loader and radio for 4.4 when ever there available? Or maybe factory image?

Just flash the stock images for kit Kat when they are available, right now back up all your data

my friend as this will pop up all over the forum the best thing to do is just wait for a rooted version to show up. I did not upgrade my bootloader and I have not had any issues with 4.3 which mind you is a great running OS you should try it.
I dont understand having root then unrooting to flash stock which you obviously dont like since you run cm and then wait to root it all over again to back an upgraded rooted version of cm...

Question on the way for the custom recovery+kernel guys on 4.3 what is the best to upgrade besides wiping your entire phone and flashing the stock images entirely?.
I think i know 2 ways just not sure they are recommended, 1st is flashing stock kernel + returning recovery to stock (should get OTA)
2nd is flashing only the system.img and the bootloader me thinks.
Feel free to verify this.

You make a lot of sense ,its more of curiosity and so I won't brick my nexus. So I can get away with not upgrading my bootloader for 4.4?
What about kernel, do I need to update that for 4.4 or is that judgement call?

you are asking questions that trial and error are going to figure out for us. Kernels of course if you are on a 4.4 rom you would use a 4.4 kernel. Upgrading your bootloader may or may not be needed but we wont know until kitkat starts popping. everyone said you needed to upgrade bootloader for 4.3 but I have never had any issue at all.... Just wait it out and read read read

Not to sure but as long as you're on stock ROM and stock kernel you should be fine although I don't know if custom recovery keeps you from getting update.

Absolutely bro
You do have to be on stock recovery, stock bootloader for the update to go thru properly otherwise it'll fail.

If you are still on stock rom and you just have custom kernel+recovery, U could do the following for not using any current apps or files.
- Wait till your favorite Toolkit (e.g Wug) get updated for 4.4 and then download the official factory rom.
- Extract it and keep all separate zips, like radio, bootloader, system etc.
- Unroot and flash stock kernel
- Flash all previous zips, EXCEPT user.img which will delete everything
- Reroot and U r ready to flash again custom kernel
Maybe a noob question but my n4 is rooted. Will this cause any problems withe the update?

The original stock kernel of 4.3 is on the bootloader.img on the google source code aye?
Thanks, now we just need to wait for the official 4.4 on google's developers.

Hello,
My phone has already had the radio upgraded to latest so it can run 4.3. I am rooted, have TWRP 2.6.3.0, will I be ok to flash the PA 4.4 and gapps? I keep posts about folks losing their sdcard data and their custom recovery being removed (not sure how!).
Thanks.

I'm sure that radio doesn't affect your ability to flash certain ROMs so you shouldn't have a problem flashing 4.4. As far as losing SD data not sure how that's happening.

[Q] Rooting, CM and upcomming Android 4.4

I want to root my Nexus 4 and install newest CM. One problem is, that there is Android 4.4 update comming soon. So if I root my Nexus and install CM, can I get my phone back to stock and update Android to 4.4?
Yes. You can either flash the 4.4 images, or simply install a 4.4 based custom ROM (the more practical solution my opinion) since you will already have installed a custom recovery.

If I have CM installed, can I somehow get everything to stock. Like my Nexus 4 just came out of box?

Rom closest to vanilla Android like nexus 5?

Hi there I'm running rooted stock 4.2.2 and want a rom that is closest to the look and feel of a nexus 5 but still has features such as LG remote and KnockOn while also have the always listening 'okay Google' feature of the nexus 5/Moto X. What are my options? Help would be much appreciated!

Paranoid Android 4.0 is probably about the closest you'll get to KitKat. It doesn't appear to have the always listening feature, but it's a great ROM. I think it's the closest thing you can get to a stock Nexus 5 without actually buying the N5.
CM 11.

CM11 is the correct answer. PA has a bunch of add-ons, as does Mahdi.

Any ideas on why I am having issues with LG G2 d800 rooted and unlocked using TWRP to flash some ROMS? I can flash...
CleanROM-SE-2.0
CyanogenMod 10.2
CyanogenMod 10.2.0-RC1-d800
with no problems, but when I try just about any other ROM, I get a red "failed" almost immediately after starting the flash.
Thank You!

Not true, Houstons PA builds have less customisation than CM11, yes in the future PA will have more than cyanogen (as it has before) but at the minute, PA is nearly stock, apart from helpful kernel tweaks.

Ok what version of TWRP do you have installed. TWRP 2.6.3.2 has problems Fashing 4.4 ROMs and will say failure I know because the same thing happens to me. But if you upgrade to TWRP 2.6.3.3 you should be able to flash 4.4 ROMs no problem.

Thanks for the replies both PA and CM look great, I have no problems with either of them, the thing is I still want
some of the stock LG features like KnockOn (And Off) and QuickRemote as well as compatibility with the LG cover for the phone.
Is it possible to have all of this in a rom?

Go to Philz thread for your phone.. In the FAQ he tells us how to get past that. It has to do with the updater script and alls you have to do is uncheck the option in recovery that says something like... Use old updater script... Something to that effect. Again read his FAQ and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I had the same thing happening with my phone just a few days ago and that fixes it.
