Hello everyone,
I installed last week the German stock rom for Galaxy S4 GT-I9505.
Here are the details:
AP: I9505XXUEMJ5
CP: I9505XXUEMJ5
CSC: I9505OXAEMJ5
When I try to connect it via Kies and check for newer firmware I get the message that my firmware is not supported to update via Kies.
The status of the device is Official and the Knox is 0x0.
In the Kies the lines are:
PDA: MJ5
PHONE: MJ5
CSC: MJ5(BTU)
So what's the problem? Is it a problem with Kies software and I'll get OTA updates from Germany when they will be out? Or is something wrong with the sofware of the device?
Thanks in advance
Anyone???

Maybe your Region is already at the current firmware, i'm from Holland and my final firmware i got is MJ5 too. Why do you want to upgrade it anyway?

I just wanted to check if Kies supports upgrading my firmware because the previous firmware I had wasn't supported by Kies.
And it had been supported it would have written that there's no newer version but wouldn't have written that it doesn't support so it's not the issue.

This is the MAIN thing I'm not sure about and I want to ask you about it:
If Kies does not allow me to update my firmware through it will it affect the OTA feature? I mean if Kies doesn't allow to update so OTA won't work also?

Not sure about that, i don't know if OTA and Kies are Synced with eachother, have you tried to "Scan" for new updates with OTA on your phone?

I did try to scan with OTA so it does its scanning for few seconds and then says my device is up to date (I also don't expect any updates now because the latest one was released last month - android 4.3).
Will you recommend me flashing the XXUEMJ7 of BTU (as of Kies details, my device is originally from United Kingdom)?
Will it trigger the Knox flag?

What if you try a Samsung Kies Firmware Upgrade and Initialization? It will bring your device to fully Stock TouchWiz Android 4.3.
Enter your Modelnumber (GT-I9505), pull out your battery you will see a S/N code, fill that in, reboot in Download mode and follow the Kies instructions.
WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING SAVED ON YOUR PHONE STORAGE, INCLUDING MEDIA AND CONFIGURATIONS, SO BACKUP THEM.
You could give it a try.

Kies should regonize the phone because it's booted in Download Mode, it will load the regular MTP Android Drivers.

I didn't get what you mean.
Where is this Samsung Kies Firmware Upgrade and Initialization?
And in case you didn't understand me, I have already full stock TouchWiz Android 4.3. The only problem is that I flashed via Odin the German stock rom and the CSC in Kies shows in brackets the product code of United Kingdom (BTU) instead of Germany (DBT).
Why did it happen? I flashed all by the rules and Kies didn't report any problems at the end of the process.

Hi guys.
Need your support and guidance on an issue with Kies 3. I have a Note 3 SM-9005, unrooted, unbranded/factory unlocked. So far, I have only received 2 updates via Kies. In other words, no tempering has been done.
However, now that I plugin my Note3 and run kies3, it says 'Galaxy Note3 (SM-N9005)' does not support.
Since I am unable to attach screenshots, I am posting necessary info below:
PDA: MJ7
Phone: MJ7
CSC: MJ4 (XSI)
(as per Kies, this is the latest firmware available as well)
Baseband Version : N9005XXUDMJ7
Build Number : JSS15J.N9005XXUDMJ7
Would appreciate any help.

I believe it might be a problem with KIES 3 itself - it seems that it does not fully support any of the N9005 newer bootloaders (>= MJ3). I would have expected by now to have a better version but there is something strange going on there

No, the normal Samsung updates come Over The Air (OTA) directly to the phone and without the need for Kies (as long as you are not rooted, in which case you need to manually update - with Odin or Mobile Odin Pro).

Hello,
I have an N900 Note 3 (Baseband N900XXUCMK1), I live in Egypt, Africa and I still haven't received the Kitkat update. I'm still on 4.3 and whenever i check for update it tells me my software is up to date. I also tried to check when connected to Samsung Kies and it tells me the same.
How can I solve this? Is there a way I can get KITKAT without rooting or flashing? I am kind of new to the android scene
Thanks in advance

1- What is your CSC code? You live in Egypt, but your device may be not belong to this region. You have to provide more details. Use this app Phone INFO ★Samsung★ to get your CSC code.
2- Anyway, if OTA and Kies doesn't help, you can update manually by open Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, go to Menu and select 'Firmware Browser...', you will see the list of available firmwares for your device. The top of the list is the latest one. You can download it and flash by using Odin (without rooting, of course). The download link is also given there.
Same problems as above
Dear VNDNGUYEN
I installed your app
My device is also the rose gold galaxy note 3 and I also haven't received the kitkat update
I am in Pakistan (Rose gold wasn't available in my country officially)
My device details are as under
SM-N900
Bootloader N900XXUCMK2
CSC version N900JVCMJ3
Original CSC code THR
CSC country UAE
I used the firmware browser in your app and it says "Sorry, no data available"
What should we do now?
Any help would be most welcome

I'm using a Czech T-mobile S4 GT-I9505 which is currently running firmware 4.3 (baseband I9505XXUEMKF) and am unclear about whether I'll be able to get an official update to 4.4.2 via my Singapore carrier (Starhub) at any point. I can't go via Kies, it says the device doesn't support firmware initialization.
Any advice would be welcome, thanks very much in advance.

1. Android 4.3 and android 4.4.2 use KIES 3.
2. When u conect ur phone to Kies 3, you dont need press Tools -> Firmware Upgrade and Initialization. The update, if u have any, will pop up automatically (example in pic 1 attached).
3. If Kies 3 tell u that can't update is coz the old owner installed one firmware with wrong CSC.
- Go to Kies 3 and you will see ur CSC (its your zone code) like the pic 2 attached.
- Knowing ur CSC, take a look for this firmware in Sammobile.com
- Download and flash it with ODIN (Dont flash a "Black EDITION" if ur phone isnt it)
- Enjoy
Thanks for the reply.
Actually, this was a new phone, but it was purchased as a grey market import. I should have said that I have tried to go via Kies but it tells me I have the latest firmware. So does the phone OTA update.
Could it be that the OTA update is still connecting to the update server for Czech S4 phones and there hasn't been a 4.4.2 rollout there yet? If so, it looks like I have to root it if I want to go to 4.4.2.

Hello, Im new to this forum and hope not violating any rules..
I just bought Galaxy S4 i9500 and has stock 4.2.2 installed. Cant update to kitkat neither with settings, nor with KIES 2.6/3.
Kies 2.6 says " Your Device's Current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies. " (see attch)
I'm total newbie with these CSC codes and nor googling helped me out with all my questions:
How to make CSC and phone sales codes match safely without flashing official rom?
I bought AFR version S4 designed for Kenya in republic of Georgia (Asia/Europe). There is no firmware designed for Georgia. So does this mean I will never be able to obtain updates OTA or via Kies?
Phone INFO and such apps didnt work coz it couldnt find "preconfig" file.. Does this mean flashing is the only way? Which websites are good for official stock firmwares?

Here is my question..
1) Will this baseband region phone ever receive OTA update?
2) if NOT, then should i use services that samfirmware.com offers?
if YES, then can i install official firmware originally created for another baseband? For example can i use Russian I9500XXUGNG3 kitkat on my I9500XXUBMG9 ?
Doesnt it void waranty?
What are the risks of bricking? i mean basebands differ from each other, isnt that problem?
Also Im dissapointed with 2G call voice, sometimes i barely hear caller.. Can this be Baseband problem? I think this bmg9 baseband was originally for IRAQ carriers and im here in Georgia, which doesnt have specific baseband i guess...
I would be extremely grateful to those who answer me in this hard time ^^

Hi mate ,
First thing if you are in 4.2.2 is a shame to upgrade the bootloader..is Knox free
Your official updates most like it are blocked because you do not have the right CSC , download a nice little app from the market call PHONE INFO there it will tell you what your CSC is , this app can also change your CSC as long as it is available in the rom ( if you do backup first changing the CSC will do a factory reset)
Regarding your questions
1 OTA are CSC dependent
2 Samfirmware is good , and reliable you can go that way also
Second part of your questions
1 you can flash firmware for other countries , that is not a problem , BUT you may have problem with what languages are available , specific country services may not be available , no OTA
2 As long as you only flash stock rom (odin) you will not void the warranty
3 Briking is always a risk but when flashing not for different basebands
4 Maybe , for sure the right baseband would help

Hi,
A knox free bootloader is important if warranty some how is important for you , other wise there are the same
Regarding your first set of questions
1 Not an expert on kies but as long as all the csc inpho match it should , unless there is an issue with kies registration or IP
2 CSC give you country specifics network set ups , differnt countries have different set ups , fastdormancy , special services.......
3 you need to flash a stock rom from your country or region
Yes flashing firmware may change the csc code.

Thanks!
On SAM Mobile now.
How do i find out which country the phone belongs to along with knowing the correct firmware to get?
I should note i got the phone from Australia, however i cannot see Australia in the firmware list for GT-I9505.
Thanks
Just an update.
Not sure if its possible to flash to 4.4 because I've just been on SAMMobile.
Clicked on FIRMWARE
Then clicked Check Your Firmware.
Which i did. The phone is unlocked so i just chose vodafone.
Then it directs me to a 2013 update which is android 4.3.
So does that mean i can't get one for 4.4?

Hi mate ,
For Australia seems like the newest firmware is 4. 3 but you can flash a firmware from other " similar" countries like UK , check other countries that you may consider closer to yours
for example
BTU means unbranded
Model: GT-I9505
Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE
Country: United Kingdom
Version: Android 4.4.2
Changelist: 481100
Build date: Fri, 14 Feb 2014 03:15:30 +0000
Product Code: BTU
PDA: I9505XXUFNB9
CSC: I9505BTUFNE1
MODEM: I9505XXUFNB9
CSC: I9505BTUFNE1
Language is similar and if the modem gives you problems ( it should not) you can always flash ( odin) another the only thing you may lose would be maybe any specific carrier service that is on your current carrier rom you have in your phone and your CSC will be from UK ( in this case)
You can try installing Kies 3 Connecting your phone and see if it promotes an Update
Ok guys thank you.
So if i were to get the latest UK one. How likely is it my sim would still work in it?
I currently use vodafone in AU and uk also has vodafone. So would i be better off getting a vodafone uk firmware or just an unlocked one?
Cos the s4 is actually unlocked already.
If you could perhaps link me to the correct firmware id really appreciate it. I just really dont wanna screw this up.
Any info you require i can give you. I know for sure it is a GT-I9505 and that it was purchased unlocked in australia.
Thank you.

Hi,
Sim will work ok
Your choice vodafone or unbranded should be fine ( unbranded is newer) , unbranded ( no carrier stuff on it) has nothing to do with network lock
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=30963 (vodafone)
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=31852 ( unbranded)
back up your app , data , contacts , pictures , music and use this app to make a backup of your EFS folder ( there is your imei info) just in case

hi
they basically say the same ...... there is only one way to flash stock , in your case you do not need to flash the PIT file
from sammobile:
Instructions
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
Ok thats everything i need thanks so much.
Just one last question.. Can this process be done using a mac or am i better off using an XP based machine?
Thanks guys

Hi ,
Odin is windows based , it should work in a XP machine as long as the samsung usb drivers are updated
Ok cool.
I will use an XP based machine.
Ok so i now have odin and i now have the 1.54GB firmware package.
I can do the update as per the instructions.
But you suggested getting the latest USB Drivers for my device...
How would I find these drivers?
Is it just a matter of having the latest Kies right??
Thank you.
