I flashed that Rom the other day but ran into Reboot issues! So flashed this Rom instead!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327692&page=43
And working great! Only issue I have found is cant record video in 1080p Mode but 720p
works great! try this Rom!
Directions!
Put Rom and Gapps on your SD Card.
then reboot into Recovery Mode
Wipe data factory reset
Wipe cache and dalvik cache
Go to mounts/storage
format system
format data
format cache
Flash rom
Flash gapps
Wipe cache and dalvik cache again
Reboot and wait 10 mins
Then Enjoy!
Thanx for the answer the problem is I'm afraid to do it because it's going through Samsung Knox so afraid to brick already lost my warranty so don't care about that. Can you also show me how exactly to go about this. Like flash recovery and then what thanx again

If you don't mind I need one more thing. Can you tell me what is best way to change the kernel and know which is compatible with my rom/phone?
Also why can't I post anything in the official thread of the rom?
Thanx again for all your help

you should be able to flash the kernel the same way you flashed your rom. as far as what one im not sure since i use the triforce 4.0 and it has a special launcher that lets me pick what kernel i want to use and it flashes with the rom. the reason you cannot post in the rom thread is because you have to have 10 posts to do so. im stuck in the same boat right now.

I'm currently running paranoid android but would like to switch over to this rom
How would I go about installing this? Wipe data, both caches then flash the latest version of the ROM? Do I need to flash gapps as well?
I did put this in the forums but didn't get a solid response.
Thanks

HI. I'm not an expert but I think that when you change to a new ROM you need to do a factory reset (in TWRP) and some say to also wipe both cache's, then install the new ROM.
Some rom's come with gaps built in and others you have to install it separately after you install the rom. It usually says that in the description somewhere. Many roms seem to use the same gaps file.
Hope this helps. It is the way I do it and it seems to work for me.
Thanks for the response! Im rather new to flashing but in the past I've had no problems. I got the process down, just want to make sure that's how you would do it for an entirely ROM. Thanks

If coming from a different custom rom it is recommended to wipe System Data and cache no need to wipe dalvik if you wipe data and cache, dalvik is only needs to be wiped if upgrading rom versions but usually the rom will do this for you
Even though i posted in thread a lot later than you did, gapps is included so there's no need to download them.
Also just for reference you might also need to wipe system cache and data if the rom is upgrading the base eg. JRO03L to JRO03R which is in v3.8 just testing at the moment
while everyone does not do this, it can cause issues so people wipe and others don't
Also Kaos Droid wipes system cache and dalvik-cache every time you flash no matter the version, it does not touch data at all main reason it formats the sd unlike recovery e.g ClockWorkMod or TWRP formats /data without touching the sd partition
Hope this helps and sorry for the late reply in the thread
Hi guys,
The question is as above. How do I update my paranoid android rom through goo manager?
I downloaded the new rom files but I ain't sure what to do under the flahs rom section. Do i have to do a factory reset or do i have to wipe the cache?
I tried updating once without any of these options. In the end, i lost my google apps. When I reinstore it, the expanded desktop function went missing. So I am hoping that someone can tell me the proper way of flashing it to avoid this problem in the future. Thank you!
Go read the first post of the paranoid android rom under android original development. Don't flash things until you read the instructions. Cache is wiped by the rom, and you need gapps with a new install.

as mentioned, you should always read the ROM thread completely before you flash.
the correct procedure is to download the updated zip, optionally check the md5 sum to make sure it did not get corrupted in transit [but if it got corrupted, I think CWM will tell you, and fail to even try to flash the zip], then flash the rom, and then flash gapps before rebooting. [if you reboot before flashing gapps, you will have to re-login, and re-authenticate apps like Google Voice, etc].

This actually makes no difference, aside from making the process more time consuming. The few and far between anecdotes that led to this practice are a cum hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy. Without a doubt, it does not hurt anything, but it also yields no real benefit over flashing in the same recovery session.

This doesn't really matter, apart from making you have to "Android is Upgrading" 2x.
The process I follow which never fails me is (there may be a quicker way, but I know this will always work):
1 - Download ROM / Kernel / GAPPS etc
2 - Move all downloaded files to a single folder named "Flashing" or something
3 - Reboot to Recovery
4 - Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
5 - Flash ROM
6 - Flash GAPPS
7 - Flash Kernel
8 - Wipe Cache / Dalvik
That is the process for updating Paranoid android
Updating to a completely different ROM would require a Factory reset and Format

You can safely leave off steps 2, 4, & 8
Anything you download using goo goes into a folder called goo manager. Just flash from there.
Wiping cache and dalvik is an old wives tale so to speak. You aren't doing a damn bit of good doing that. You can skip it

I know about the Goo Folder, however I like to keep all my stuff in the same place, and I download my Kernels from browser so I made my own for Flashing
Why is it a wives tale?

Because when you flash a new ROM to /system, it has to rebuild the dalvik for the signature on the new ROM. Android handles this on its own. I haven't checked but I bet the updater-script wipes cache for you also. I have never manually wiped cache and dalvik for a ROM update on my nexus devices.

Ok great.
Appreciate that
On my S3 and S2 there where a few super wipe zip files that would factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik and clear all kernel settings.
This was handy for flashing roms since you would flash this via recovery and you would be good to go to install your rom
Is there such a script for the S4 cause I have been looking for a while with no luck.
I dont want to use the ones for the S3 in case they are not compatible
Thanks

I'm not saying it's hard just when you flash a rom a day it adds up. Plus if using twp you simply need to add to the queue and then the rom and your done.
Also it avoids forgetting something for a clean install
Just asking that's all

TWRP has a 1 step wipe procedure....slide the bar is all you do. 2 seconds.
sliding that bar does this...
factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik and clear all kernel settings.
That is why you can't find a wipe script, btw, I looked yesterday for you, was going to post a link, never seen one for g4 actually.

I would love to use TWRP full time but it dosnt support vr themes and I know that will be an issue down the road with ROMs. I don't want to have to follow the zip aline procedure mentioned by teamw every time I download a ROM

The VrTheme engine may require that, but the maker of the actual theme, incorporated the fix, I have flashed 2 of these themes already using TWRP.

So whats the point here?

But it varies from one theme maker to another. If the maker dosnt put the fix then it wont work. Some may make the themes without the fixes.
In any case im just asking if this file exists for use with ALL recovery's
All other samsungs have the script zip file just wanted it for the S4

Hello people, I have a small problem while flashing 4.4 roms.
Every time, after wiping to factory , installing rom and Gapps, Phone app makes a force close every time, on every Rom. I don't know what can I do to remedy this problem, and so far, only dirty flashing works to a degree (pace rom make a force close on the time /alarm app).
Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks for the answers.
Are you using twrp?
