PLEASE NOTE THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSIONS ABOUT SAMSUNG ALLSHARE CAST SCREEN MIRRORING ONLY - NOT ALLSHARE / PLAY OR OTHERWISE.
POST EDIT 13.10.212 - Latest gathered information and Thread rollup.
1. All Samsung Phones with allshare cast should be able to connect to samsung tv's with allshare cast, My S3 works great with my 55 F series.
2. Samsungs Allshare cast dongle works but i found it flaky and laggy, although watching movies was generally ok with no audio lag/ sync issues (using samsung video player)
yes but this is just you telling us some information.......that your now saying they will not even publish or comfirm. so we should take your word and sticky it hoping its accurate.....not belittling the information, just a link or source would be good.

Like I said, they advised there is nothing official anywhere about this, it would help some people to have this mentioned in a sticky somewhere, it will save them time trying different ROMS and going back to stock like I did, what's the worst that could happen if you do and I am wrong?
I believe him and can you please let me know when the update is so I can update my TV firmware ..... thanks

Hi, just dropping you some info on this as its a really useful option but nobody can seem to get it to work on Samsung TV's where it should be working without a dongle as long as you have a compatible model. Sammy tell me that this is only working on the newer ES models at the moment but there will be an update shortly for all compatible smart TV's which will allow it to work, so it doesn't matter which ROM you are using, stock or cooked. They also tell me they this information hasn't been released and there is nothing in any support sections about this.
Might be worth adding this to the info sticky if not already there.

Do you have any idea on how to make it work on the new ES models?

Sammy told me it should be working, however it could be that only the higher end ES models are capable like the older models, if your is a 7 or 8 series ES is should work, although you need to check the support section for a firmware update, i made that mistake of thinking there were not updates for mine as i was checking using the support section on the TV which only checks for OTA;'s, there were two USB updates to install on mine. It could be yours just needs updating. Register your TV and sammy and check for firmware updates in the software section.

any people have been trying to get some information about allshare cast on existing samsung tv's that dont need the additional dongle, do you have any information on this, it has been suggested but samsung support uk that some models will get a firmware update soon, when and which models?. I have also been told by Samsung support that the ES models already support allshare cast, they dont appear to at all.

Samsung UK Hi Julian, i will confirm this with our customer service team and let you know. ^Ravi
losing the Will to live..
Galaxy S3 wireless Media connectivity explanations:
1.) - ALLSHARE CAST - screen mirroring over miracast DNLA / WIFI - hardware decoding is done on Phone.
2.) - ALSHARE PLAY / SHARE - sends files to your tv and decodes / plays / shows files using TV hardware. (no real time screen mirroring)
3.) - ALLSHARE CAST DONGLE - as in option 1 but for none wifi tv's, you have to buy the dongle which connects to your tv hdmi port.
Samsung now tell me that allshare cast isnt currently working on any devices, it is still in dev, although when I asked about the allshare dongle he didnt know what I was on about. He also suggested the SGS3 was missing some software to run allshare cast, how can that be the case if the dongle works? , do you get an app with the dongle does anyone know?
So none the wiser again after 30 mins on the phone with them.
UPDATE: 25.9.2012 - after exhaustive hammering at Samsung from various channels there is still no answer on this - here is an update on what is currently known / assumed:
1. Allshare cast is currently only working with the ALLSHARE CAST dongle it will not work with any TV's direct, regardless of model.
2. It is still not clear which TV's are going to work if it does eventually work at all, it was suggested by an OP at Samsung support that it will be only the high end models, although whether this means all those that have WIFI built in or just some of them.
3. The Allshare Cast info on the Samsung Website seems to have changed to me, it previously suggested it would work on all WIFI/DLNA enabled TV's regardless of model.
4. Samsung and other companies are still working on a universal mirroring system which will be an agreed variant of "mirrorcast", Samsungs version of Allshare cast appears to be an early version of this and may in fact not work very well - the lag on the dongle version seems to back this up.
So, if you want to use Allshare cast at the moment you will need a dongle and the dongle has quite a bit of lag which for me rules out gaming. Please also note this information is a best conjecture on my part and so I cannot corroborate any of it, choose to believe it or not, I am happy to make changes to this if people have any more up to date information.

I have tried that with my friend's D8000 model and it works. Whether the your TV will work with certain media is all depends on the TV's firmware that can decode your media or not. It is all DLNA and it has nothing to do with what Samsung call Allshare. Implementation of DLNA varies greatly between manufacturers and even models. My own Sony NX810 claimed to support DLNA and it turns out it can display JPEG photos only while the D8000 works with 1080P MKVs pushing from the phone. If your TV has WiFi, it doesn't mean it has WiDi (this is not WiFi Direct, WiFi Direct is an entirely seperate protocol). DLNA depends on your WiFi network and router settings. WiDi is direct to the TV like they are virtually connected with a cable.

Read. You need WiDi on your TV. WiDi is not a piece of software that Samsung can add to your TV. Not many TVs has WiDi. Your TV might have WiFi but without WiDi it will never work. By the way, the dongle is called allshare cast dongle. allshare cast is just the name of the dongle used to communicate with your phone. If you are talking about allshare cast, it is the dongle. If the phone works with your TV, it is not using the allshare cast. Allshare cast IS the dongle and without the dongle it will never works with your TV.

True so far, my tv being and 8000 model has WIDI and it doesnt work.

Rubbish, allshare cast is a feature in the same way allshare play and group cast are, the naming convention is irrelevant though, you clearly dont understand the difference between allshare play and cast - IT ISNT WORKING FOR YOU - YOU ARE MISTAKEN.

Please proof it to me your TV has WiDi.
I have recently purchased a LG Smart TV. It has all the bells and whistles like wifi , miracast etc etc. Is it possible for me to mirror my phone to the TV while playing games, and also cast my Cinemabox app to the TV (while watching shows). In simple words can i have same functionality of a Chromecast. The TV and phone will be connected to the same wifi router.
If it matters anyhow, the TV model is LG 55UF851T.

Noone has a solution??
Mirroring via the Miracast protocol doesn't require a wifi router, it's a direct wifi point to point connection.
The Chromecast can also work through a direct point to point wifi connection (guest mode).

My query is a bit different. Considering the TV has wi-di and miracast, isnt it possible to mirror the S7 screen to the TV. I need the same for casting my games etc. Is it possible to mirror a S7 screen to a LG Smart TV.
The answer is easy...
If any TV set supports Miracast the answer is yes.
However performance for games is a bit poor...

yes. it is possible. in fact, the function to mirror a smartphone screen to TV supporting Miracast has been there since at least Samsung S4.they have changed the name of the functionality a few times but the end result remained the same and different phone manufacturers have different name. Samsung called it Smart Connect now.

I have tested it, if you need to know and it works fine.
I have the same problem. With my Axon7 I can cast YT directly or the whole screen trough Settings/Screen/Cast but with the S7 Edge I can't find such option. Any step by step guide?
Hi Is there a way to cast content on my phone to another source (via cast button) or app embedded cast that isn't chromecast? I know miracast isn't an option. I'm looking for something that doesn't require always on internet like chromecast
Ultimately I would love to buy a non chromecast reciever and cast whatever i can through my phone to it (like friends house who may not have always on wifi like chromecast requires)
Thanks,
Chris
Chromecast doesn't require internet. It requires WiFi (same router or not - as guest), but so it will anything else that you want to use to "cast" video.

Samsung Smart TV with the You Tube app on it. You can cast from You Tube on your phone.
