PLEASE NOTE THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSIONS ABOUT SAMSUNG ALLSHARE CAST SCREEN MIRRORING ONLY - NOT ALLSHARE / PLAY OR OTHERWISE.
POST EDIT 13.10.212 - Latest gathered information and Thread rollup.
1. All Samsung Phones with allshare cast should be able to connect to samsung tv's with allshare cast, My S3 works great with my 55 F series.
2. Samsungs Allshare cast dongle works but i found it flaky and laggy, although watching movies was generally ok with no audio lag/ sync issues (using samsung video player)
yes but this is just you telling us some information.......that your now saying they will not even publish or comfirm. so we should take your word and sticky it hoping its accurate.....not belittling the information, just a link or source would be good.

Like I said, they advised there is nothing official anywhere about this, it would help some people to have this mentioned in a sticky somewhere, it will save them time trying different ROMS and going back to stock like I did, what's the worst that could happen if you do and I am wrong?
I believe him and can you please let me know when the update is so I can update my TV firmware ..... thanks

Hi, just dropping you some info on this as its a really useful option but nobody can seem to get it to work on Samsung TV's where it should be working without a dongle as long as you have a compatible model. Sammy tell me that this is only working on the newer ES models at the moment but there will be an update shortly for all compatible smart TV's which will allow it to work, so it doesn't matter which ROM you are using, stock or cooked. They also tell me they this information hasn't been released and there is nothing in any support sections about this.
Might be worth adding this to the info sticky if not already there.

Do you have any idea on how to make it work on the new ES models?

Sammy told me it should be working, however it could be that only the higher end ES models are capable like the older models, if your is a 7 or 8 series ES is should work, although you need to check the support section for a firmware update, i made that mistake of thinking there were not updates for mine as i was checking using the support section on the TV which only checks for OTA;'s, there were two USB updates to install on mine. It could be yours just needs updating. Register your TV and sammy and check for firmware updates in the software section.

any people have been trying to get some information about allshare cast on existing samsung tv's that dont need the additional dongle, do you have any information on this, it has been suggested but samsung support uk that some models will get a firmware update soon, when and which models?. I have also been told by Samsung support that the ES models already support allshare cast, they dont appear to at all.

Samsung UK Hi Julian, i will confirm this with our customer service team and let you know. ^Ravi
losing the Will to live..
Galaxy S3 wireless Media connectivity explanations:
1.) - ALLSHARE CAST - screen mirroring over miracast DNLA / WIFI - hardware decoding is done on Phone.
2.) - ALSHARE PLAY / SHARE - sends files to your tv and decodes / plays / shows files using TV hardware. (no real time screen mirroring)
3.) - ALLSHARE CAST DONGLE - as in option 1 but for none wifi tv's, you have to buy the dongle which connects to your tv hdmi port.
Samsung now tell me that allshare cast isnt currently working on any devices, it is still in dev, although when I asked about the allshare dongle he didnt know what I was on about. He also suggested the SGS3 was missing some software to run allshare cast, how can that be the case if the dongle works? , do you get an app with the dongle does anyone know?
So none the wiser again after 30 mins on the phone with them.
UPDATE: 25.9.2012 - after exhaustive hammering at Samsung from various channels there is still no answer on this - here is an update on what is currently known / assumed:
1. Allshare cast is currently only working with the ALLSHARE CAST dongle it will not work with any TV's direct, regardless of model.
2. It is still not clear which TV's are going to work if it does eventually work at all, it was suggested by an OP at Samsung support that it will be only the high end models, although whether this means all those that have WIFI built in or just some of them.
3. The Allshare Cast info on the Samsung Website seems to have changed to me, it previously suggested it would work on all WIFI/DLNA enabled TV's regardless of model.
4. Samsung and other companies are still working on a universal mirroring system which will be an agreed variant of "mirrorcast", Samsungs version of Allshare cast appears to be an early version of this and may in fact not work very well - the lag on the dongle version seems to back this up.
So, if you want to use Allshare cast at the moment you will need a dongle and the dongle has quite a bit of lag which for me rules out gaming. Please also note this information is a best conjecture on my part and so I cannot corroborate any of it, choose to believe it or not, I am happy to make changes to this if people have any more up to date information.

I have tried that with my friend's D8000 model and it works. Whether the your TV will work with certain media is all depends on the TV's firmware that can decode your media or not. It is all DLNA and it has nothing to do with what Samsung call Allshare. Implementation of DLNA varies greatly between manufacturers and even models. My own Sony NX810 claimed to support DLNA and it turns out it can display JPEG photos only while the D8000 works with 1080P MKVs pushing from the phone. If your TV has WiFi, it doesn't mean it has WiDi (this is not WiFi Direct, WiFi Direct is an entirely seperate protocol). DLNA depends on your WiFi network and router settings. WiDi is direct to the TV like they are virtually connected with a cable.

Read. You need WiDi on your TV. WiDi is not a piece of software that Samsung can add to your TV. Not many TVs has WiDi. Your TV might have WiFi but without WiDi it will never work. By the way, the dongle is called allshare cast dongle. allshare cast is just the name of the dongle used to communicate with your phone. If you are talking about allshare cast, it is the dongle. If the phone works with your TV, it is not using the allshare cast. Allshare cast IS the dongle and without the dongle it will never works with your TV.

True so far, my tv being and 8000 model has WIDI and it doesnt work.

Rubbish, allshare cast is a feature in the same way allshare play and group cast are, the naming convention is irrelevant though, you clearly dont understand the difference between allshare play and cast - IT ISNT WORKING FOR YOU - YOU ARE MISTAKEN.

Hello peeps,
Me again sharing my experience with a friend's samsung TV.
The TV is a samsung 50+" Plasma TV, the model is PS50C something...
The tv is connected with Cat 5e cable to wireless N access point, and the SGS2 was connected via wifi to that AP.
I could easily use All share to show all my Full HD vids from the phone to tv in a matter of seconds. Had to approve the action once on the TV.
Also, I could play movies located on a dedicated DLNA server to the tv via the SGS2, i'm not sure if any data actually went via the SGS2, but I used it as a remote control to select content to be played on the TV. Worked flawless.
One last thing to share, MHL.
I connected the phone to the TV with the MicroUSB to hdmi converter, I have no MHL cable... And the TV recognized an MHL device - I then found out, much to my surprise that I could control the SGS2 with the TV Remote!!!
Was pretty amazing. Everything just worked.
Cya
Eitam.
Please list all the TV remote control buttons that worked with S2. Can you get the S2 menu and back functions to work? Just so we all know. Sounds really cool though.

TBH I can't answer that question cause I got annoyed with that remote very fast,
I used the arrow keys to cycle through the Icons on the homescreens, they appeared selected like windows xp style blue background, and I was able to click them to start stuff.
I didn't even try and look for android buttons...
I was just amazed it all just worked.
Hey
As I dont have a 2013 Samsung TV but want to get screen mirroring in my living room I purchased the Samsung "Allshare Cast Hub" which does wireless screen mirroring via WiFi and HDMI in to the TV.
After setting up the hub (connecting to TV/Receiver and plugging in power) and enabling "Screen mirroring" on my Note 3 the display on the TV says "Connecting..." and on the Note 3 it says "Screen mirroring enabled" with the icon showing in the notifications panel.
After about 1 minute (TV/Hub still says "Connecting...") a message appears on the Note 3 "Screen mirroring disabled" and the TV goes back to the connection instructions or sometimes black and I need to unplug the power to the hub to get it back on again.
I have tried both soft reset (30 sec battery out) as well as starting in safe mode, same result.
Anyone who has got screen mirroring working, and if so how and with what?
I also tried breifly to to a simpler Allshare imagine sharing to my 2012 Samsung 8005 LCD TV (which worked fine on my Note 2) but the phone and TV do not recognize each other (TV does not appear in list of "players" to share pictures with).
Would appreciate any help!
Cheers

Update 2013-10-07
The problem has been isolated to my receiver (Sony DA-5300ES), it will work just fine when connecting directly to the TV or to another TV via HDMI but not via the receiver. When connected to the receiver it hangs during the connection phase.
To the same receiver using the same cable I have connected an XBox 360, PS3 and a dual core Android HDMI stick without any issues, so im 100% sure there are not issues there.
Has anyone had any luck getting screen mirroring to work via a receiver?
M8 you are not rooted right? I ask this because the same dongle didn't want to connect to my note 10.1 because it was rooted and I haven't rooted yet my gn3 and this is one of the reasons.

Hey Chris
Thanks for the reply, no I havent rooted it (yet)... Does your Note 3 work with the hub? Did you do the firmware update as well?
I doubt returning either phone or hub will solve the problem, to me this feels like a SW incompatibility issue...
Cheers

It works fine m8, you know as I was experience the problems with note 10.1 I read a lot so I spotted many people with different kind of troubles like the hdmi port in TV, try to change port m8 in TV to be sure.
I also don't have samsung but LG this is not the problem for sure. I did all the firmware updates
M8 a final question. I got it you are not rooted but is it possible to have busybox in your N3? It's crucial question because this was giving me exact the same behavior as yours in my 10.1

Ok good to know it "should" and can work at least...
I dont see how it could be the HDMI port as the image from the hub displays correctly on the TV, but I guess its worth a try. Ill plug it to the back of my Samsung LCD TV in the office and see if it makes a difference.
I don't have any root / admin apps installed. Only basics front-end stuff like Nova launcher and a bunch of apps, Avast antivirus/theft which is the most back-end feature I can think of I have running.
I have even started the phone in safe mode and its the same deal (I assume it does not run more than just the very basic apps in this mode).
Ill give the local Samsung support a go today, the US only told me to soft reset and try safe mode.

for me this did the trick:
you have to long-click on the screencast device (to which you want to connect) in in the screen mirroring settings, then the option "connect with PIN" appears! select it and with the PIN displayed on the TV you are now able to connect!
Thanks for this tip!
I did try this initially as well and again a few minutes ago... The pin comes up on the TV and the prompt to enter on the phone, but once i key in the pin and continue its the same story:
1. "Connecting..." appears on the TV
2. "Screen mirroring enabled" appears on the Note 3 (but no screen mirroring actually happens to the TV which still says "Connecting...")
3. After about a minute i get "Screen mirroring disabled" on the phone and the TV goes black or back to connection instructions

yeah m8.. exactly what huppened to me... look if you can test the 2nd HDMI... test in other TV ... if you got any other sasmung device test that also (this forced me to look in rooting problem because a unrooted galaxy S3 was able to connect fine and i was unable to connect with the same problems as you have... at least i understood that it wasnt problem from the all share cast side)... and if nothing works then bring it back to the shop... as i think it maybe that is a good solution to do it in the 1st place because there someone will have a sammy phone to test it on the fly.
I had to use the pin to connect to the screencast device. The dongle has the most recent firmware and my Note3 is an unrooted vanilla UK version
I previously had a rooted Note2 which would not connect via the dongle (after firmware update) which incorrectly reported the following. It is an HDCP compliant TV Samsung 2013 model)

Found the reason... As you suggested I tried a different HDMI input (and on a different device, direct on my 2012 Samsung LCD TV instead of Sony Receiver to Toshiba LCD TV) and then it works immediately without any issues!
That is so weird... How can the connection (phone to hub) have anything to do with the output to the receiver? I guess there is some sync signal when it switches from default 720P to 1080P from the Note 3 which is not compatible with some HDMI components.
The whole reason why i bought it was to use with my receiver so I can get audio from my phone (and video) wireless in the living room... Ill try some other ports on the receiver to see if that helps but I doubt it...
Anyway now i know there isnt a hardware issue on the hub or Note 3, and software works with some HDMI components at least
Thanks for the help!!

Yesterday I bought this device and have the same problem. It doesn't work when I plug it into Yamaha Receiver. I've tried everything but nothing worked out. As a temporary solution, I pluged AllShare Cast dongle into my Samsung TV then I connected Samsung TV and Yamaha receiver with Optical Cable. And now I can use Screen Mirroring with my TV with sound output through the receiver.
I tried to connect Note 3 to Philips 6008 series via Screen Mirroring. With Galaxy S4 there is no problem to do that but with Note 3 it is impossible.
S4 recognizes, that my TV does not have HDCP and consequently starts a session without HDCP. However, Note3 does not recognize it. I've got message that this is unable to start Screen Mirroring because HDCP is not supported with connected device. I think it's a problem from the Note3 software. Can someone now what we have to change to make this thing works?
ahh,m the screen mirroring i hate it
i have note2, note 3 and samsung smart tv.
on my note 2 with clean instal + root screen mirroring works fine. On note 3 with over moth of using and instaling stuff - it does not work.
Solution by samsung - wipe device. Funny but it always help. With some time devices stop connecting to TV. i can pair devices but after few seconds there is: Screen mirroring disabled or Screen mirroring disconected. Wipe and it works again.
other solution is this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.screenmirroringpatch
Link from google play is incopatibile with Note 3
Screen mirroring issues - Note 3 Exynos SM-900
I have a new international version of Note 3 (Exynos) SM-N900 with andorid 4.3 OS . I am facing a similar problem which doing screen mirroring using a HDMI miracast supported wiresless dongle. The dongle is detected by the NOTE 3 and when i press "connect" on the phone. It says connecting for sometime than connects for a few seconds and gets disconnected with a message "Screen mirroing disabled". I have tried connected the dongle to different HDMI ports on my TV. i tried switching og my home Wi-Fi as miracast uses a P2P connection. Still it has not helped.
I am not sure if anyone has faced a similar problem but it seems to be a huge set back for the exynos Note 3 with the scree mirroing not working. Do we have any solutions or workarounds to fix this. Appreciate if anyone here can help me fix this.

Hello
Does the nexus player have all Chromecast features? I mean can i stream my files from my phone to the nexus player? The new Chromecast had improvements in streaming speed, so which device is faster?
Sorry for my english
I've used both. On WiFi they are the same speed, however both work faster when plugged into Ethernet.
For the price, nexus player has many many more features, well worth the additional $15

I like my NP, but I think it's unfair to simply assert that NP wins because "it does everything that Chromecast does." The NP has great features that the Chromecast doesn't (onscreen UI, remote, gaming, etc.) have; if you want those features, the NP is great (but probably not as good as other products on the market with bigger app ecosystems, like Fire TV or Roku). If casting video content is your top priority, it's worth noting that the NP does not perform as well as Chromecast as a Google Cast device. The two main issues are:
1. My NP (on my main TC) doesn't always show up as a castable device, even when my Chromecast (bedroom TV) appears without issue.
2. It turns out that some Chromecast-compatible apps do NOT support Google Cast on the NP, as was the case with the HBO Now app that was released a couple of months ago. This is pretty rare, and basically every other cast-enabled app I've used seems to support both Chromecast and the NP, but the HBO Now debacle (when combined with #1) clearly suggests that the Google Cast implementation on the NP differs from what we see on Chromecast.
In addition to Cast issues, I've experienced a lot of bugs/crashes/etc. with my NP. Things on my NP seem to be stabilizing, but it's clear to me that Chromecast is a more mature and stable product at the moment. Given that so many more people own Chromecasts than NPs, updating Chromecast will probably remain Google's higher priority.
Overall, I'm still happy with my NP, but it's still a work in progress. I'm not sure that I'd recommend it over Roku or Fire TV (or even Apple TV) for people looking to add smart features/apps to their TV... and if you're looking for a cheap way to watch Netflix on your TV, you can't really beat Chromecast.

The thing about it is, a new Chromecast is $35, though I've seen it for $30 on sale recently. I've seen the nexus player on sale for $40 at a few places. For the extra $10, the nexus player does much more than the Chromecast, and can function essentially the same as a Chromecast, save for the HBO now app.
Also I perceive casting to the NP is much quicker than my Chromecast on wifi. It's a stronger machine.
For those of you suggesting the RJ45 + USB3.0 hubs, isnt the microUSB port on the back of the NP just a usb2.0 connection? Does adding a USB3.0 hub for expanded memory actually do anything since it should be throttled down to 2.0 speeds at the back of the NP? Or should we just look at getting a 2.0 hub and save a few extra $$$?
Im asking because Im currently looking into my options to expand my memory now that Android6.0 has hit our devices.
Correct, its only 2.0 speed. Save some money. No reason the adapter should cost more than the NP.

I would've said the same, prior to the Marshmallow upgrade; whether the Cast icon would appear in Cast enabled apps was a matter of pure luck, as well as the "cast screen to" feature on Android devices. I got a lot of Cast connection losses as well, while the content was then still playing on the TV, without any possibility to control it (other than stopping it via the Nexus Player remote).
But all of those issues are fixed now with the Marshmallow upgrade (and I guess the various Google Cast Receiver app updates, that have been released since then).
The one thing that I find absolutely unacceptable is the following fact which you have mentioned as well: That the Nexus Player seems to be a 2nd class Google Cast device, which is e.g. not supported by Spotify, while working perfectly fine on Chromecasts. Google is allowing fragmentation of their Cast ecosystem because of this and this might be the beginning of the end of its acceptance, especially when it comes to Smart TVs that are shipped with Android TV and for which all companies involved are especially advertising the Cast functionality.
To the user who mentioned that both, the Nexus Player and the Chromecast are loading/streaming faster over Ethernet than over Wi-Fi: I strongly doubt that this is the case, especially since, as mentioned above, the available Ethernet adapters are only USB 2.0 capable. If you're talking about an Nvidia Shield TV I'd believe you, since that one supports Gigabit Ethernet natively, but regarding Chromecasts and Nexus Players... maybe if your wi-fi is horrible or you're using 2.4GHz wi-fi only... otherwise...no, not at all.
Anyway, since the original question was something like "Chromecast vs. Nexus Player": I have both, and I fully replaced my Chromecast with my Nexus Player since I have found that it makes the Chromecast redundant.
Some advantages of the Chromecast that should be considered:
-It's perfectly suited for taking it with you when traveling, while the Nexus Player is more of a fixed device that you set up once, connect it to your TV and leave it there.
- The Chromecast might reboot a couple of seconds faster than the Nexus Player, in case you shut off your devices often.
- The Chromecast allows you to adjust the backdrop e.g. with weather data and specific background images; the similar looking stock-backdrop of the Nexus Player cannot be modified at all.
- The Nexus Player wants you to sign into a specific Google account, whereas the Chromecast only requires you to set up a wi-fi.
- Chromecast doesn't need a wall socket and can be powered by your TV's USB port (even though using a real power adapter is recommended due to stability reasons).
- As mentioned, Chromecast isn't treated as a 2nd class Cast device by e.g. HBO (lol) and Spotify.
- You won't have to deal with yet another remote control in addition to your TV's, your audio system's and what-not remote controls, if using a Chromecast
- Google so far hasn't dared to release a firmware upgrade for the Chromecast which increases the brightness to a bazillion % and causes all blacks to look washed-out as hell.
I'm not gonna mention any advantages of the Nexus Player here as I've already said that I, personally, prefer the Nexus Player; I think it comes down to personal preferences regarding the above-points. Some things might be more important to some people, while others aren't, the same goes for what compromises are acceptable to the specific user.

I don't quite know what you mean? I have a 2.0 USB hub\ethernet hybrid plugged into my nexus players. It gives me 3 full size USB ports and Ethernet.
Anywhere I have searched didn't have a plethora of USB 2.0 hubs with ethernet that were that much cheaper than the 3.0 models.
I don't see the point of an ethernet adapter for the Nexus Player any way, the theoretical speed limit of USB 2.0 is 480mbps which equal 60MBps meaning that you are throttling yourself compared to your WiFi speed.

And realistically you would be lucky to get even half that 60 MBps speeds on the 2.0 port. Chances are your only seeing about 25-30, and a Ethernet port adapter has to share the data with all the other devices you may have plugged into the hub as well. The WiFi AC is every bit 5-10 faster than the USB port on this device. The Ethernet adapter idea is only reasonable if that is all you have for a connection. Otherwise your 5ghz N or AC will blow away the USB port, depending on your network and internet speeds of course.

All I can tell you is this. On my 5ghz WiFi, nighthawk ac1900 router, I will get occasional drops and hiccups streaming my uncompressed bluray rips, and on occasion streaming from my HDHomerun Prime. When over WiFi, I get none of those issues ever. It's just a more reliable connection. Downloading from the Play store, the WiFi wins, however streaming a 2 hour movie (30gigs), the hard wire connection will give me a flawless performance. It just takes a few seconds of WiFi interference to interrupt a movie or good football game on TV.

Your WiFi should have big enough buffer to handle a few seconds of WiFi interference... Never had a single problem on a Chromecast wireless in a highly congested 2.4GHz area....
The Chromecast app from Google in the Google PlayStore doesn't even detect my Google Nexus Player (on the same wifi network).
The "Video & TV Cast | Nexus Player" app does. The developer for that app has a separate version for Nexus Player, Chromecast device, Samsung TV, etc.

I'm not sure why the Chromecast app would ever need to detect your NP. It's not like you could use that app to configure it.
Maybe it was just my assumption that the Google Nexus Player (which supports casting) would use the Chromecast protocol(?) from Google.
Apparently, there is also a Googlecast protocol that is different from Chromecast?
My Samsung phone has it's own casting protocol that works great with my Samsung HDTV.

I just switched to using a new TV over the weekend that's (finally!) 4k.
If it matters, the TV is the bleeding new Vizio P65-C1 also a good write up on the TV can be found here.
When I plug the Shield TV directly into the TV via HDMI and go to the Shield's settings then HDMI, it detects and shows (Recommended) next to 4K 60hz, which is what I set it to.
I can play YouTube 4K videos, I can watch anything I want without issue on Plex or Kodi, I can play all of my usual Shield exclusive games like Doom 3 or Portal without issue but for whatever reason, Netflix will just not play anything. Not just 4K/UHD content, just any content. I can move around through the Netflix menus and browse for what I want to watch without issue but when I try to actually play something it has no audio and freezes and might jump forward in broken increments or will be 100% frozen on the screen. I can stop it without issue and the app is otherwise responsive and not frozen.
I can Cast Netflix content to my Shield TV and it works without issue also. Correction, I cannot cast Netflix to the Shield TV. Same issues as trying to play locally. I was accidentally casting to my TV directly, which does work without issue. Both my TV and y Shield TV are hard wired to my router directly via ethernet.
It's only when I try using the Netflix app that is built-in.
The thing I noticed when I Cast vs the native app is it shows a loading progress screen and can take a few seconds depending on the contents quality to hit 100% then start playing. It seems like the native Netflix app is not trying to cache the content and seems like it's trying to direct stream it, which it cannot keep up with for some reason.
The same happens with cartoons, older shows that at best are available in 1080P like X-files or of course UHD/4K content. There is no different in the behavior between the different source videos in the native app.
I have already created a support request directly with Nvidia but wanted to see if others have encountered this as well and have any suggestions on what I can try to fix it?

Hey man... Finally got some sun in Atlanta?? What a nice day....
Anyways...see the link below I answered for somebody else, see it applies to you. They key is HDCP2.2 compatible equipment all along your video signal, Shield (which is), receiver, TV input. If any isn't, it won't work.

It was a beautiful pollen coated day today
I checked and sure enough the TV does support HDCP2.2. Though it also notes that while it's HDMI 2.0, it's not enabled yet and will be coming soon in a firmware upgrade. Makes me wonder if that'll fix this once it's available.
I'm still going back and forth with Nvidia as well but so far nothing other than answering some questions and sending them some logs.
From your TV user manual:
When connecting a HDMI 2.0 device, HDMI Color Subsampling needs to be enabled to support 4K resolution at 60hz.

Statement not correct... It support HDMI 2.0 out of the box. It's the HDMI 2.0a support that will be coming via a firmware upgrade.

Ah, good catch. I'm not as up to date on the HDMI specs/standards these days.
I'm guessing then that HDCP2.2 should work out of the box though but will contact Vizio support to confirm.
Just curious...have you tried different HDMI inputs?
"The new P-Series models will include: four HDMI 2.0a/HDCP 2,2 inputs, plus one additional HDMI that handles 4k/60p at 4:2:0, although it is listed as HDMI 1.4, Vizio told us. The HDMI 2.0a inputs will allow the Vizio displays to connect to new Ultra HD Blu-ray players to stream 4K with HDR10 metadata, something earlier Vizio 4K UHDTVs have lacked"
Are you connected to that "one" input?

According to Vizio's support "The tv supports HDCP 2.2 on all HDMI ports" so I'm not sure. The manual does not detail specific ports at all for HDCP.
@reTARDIS I just bought the same TV and am seeing the same issue. I noticed that if I change the Audio setting for the show I'm watching from "English 5.1" to "English" the show streams correctly. I'm not sure why this is happening either.

Interesting find. I'll test that on mine this evening.
@oracleicom I just tried this and confirmed it works for me as well. I send an update to Nvidia with this info to see what they have to say. Thanks for the workaround. It's not perfect but will do for the short term.
I would make sure you have a HDMI 2.0 cable (18Gb/sec), that's the only one that supports 4K @ 60fps with 4:4:4 chroma (color).
Use a port on the tv that supports HDMI 2.0.
I am having the same issue with Nvidia Shield and and the same TV. I was so excited when I got it today. I can also make it go with changing it english from 5.1. I had the Shield hooked up to a previous Vizio 4k TV and there was no issue. I am talking to Vizio support now and they want to blame the Shield even though it works fine with their previous 4K TV.
I also tested with my Nexus Player and it has the same issue.
@reTARDIS Did you ever get a reply from anyone at Vizio or Nvidia? On mine, everything but Netflix works fine, so maybe it is something that Netflix can fix in their Android TV app.
Correction, both Google Play Movies & TV and Netflix have the issue. Nvidia is saying it is Vizio's issue and Vizio is saying it is Nvidia's issue. I pointed out the Nexus Player has the same issue with the new Vizio and they have not replied.

They've really not given any indication that they have a clear understanding on what is happening and every time I ask for an update, if they reply at all, it's just to say that they're still researching the issue.
They recently suggested that I test the following.
SHIELD TV HDMI out -> Vizio P65-C1 -> Vizio P65-C1 HDMI ARC to Pioneer SC-1522K
Initially, I didn't think this would work as I had thought TV's did not output anything via HDMI and could only input but after doing some further reading today into HDMI and ARC, I think it might work to output just audio from my TV via HDMI to the receiver using one of the HDMI ports that supports ARC but I have not yet tried this.
As a backup solution, I just ordered this USB to Optical audio adapter last night that others have said works with the Shield TV to output audio via USB to TOSLINK. The device includes a TOSLINK to SPDIF adapter. I plan on just using this to output SPDIF directly to my receiver to bypass the Vizio TV to see if this resolves the issue or not. I will update later once I've tested it out.
I'll report back my findings with both test.
Update: The same issue exist with the USB to SPDIF/Optical adapter straight into the SPDIF/Optical input on my receiver (bypassing the TV for audio).
I'm at a loss for what to try next and the issue has not gone away.
Update: I figured out how to make ARC via HDMI work from my TV to my receiver over the weekend and am now only using audio out for all devices connect to my TV via HDMI then out via the ARC HDMI port on my TV (HDMI 1) and into the ARC input on my Pioneer receiver. While audio works without issue for any connected device and the Shield TV in general, the same issue exist as before with 5.1 audio playback from Netflix on the Shield TV.
I also did a factory reset on my Shield TV this past weekend but sadly it didn't change/fix the issue which still persist.
I just cast to my TV now for Netflix and avoid using the Netflix app on the Shield TV.
I have recently purchased a LG Smart TV. It has all the bells and whistles like wifi , miracast etc etc. Is it possible for me to mirror my phone to the TV while playing games, and also cast my Cinemabox app to the TV (while watching shows). In simple words can i have same functionality of a Chromecast. The TV and phone will be connected to the same wifi router.
If it matters anyhow, the TV model is LG 55UF851T.

Noone has a solution??
Mirroring via the Miracast protocol doesn't require a wifi router, it's a direct wifi point to point connection.
The Chromecast can also work through a direct point to point wifi connection (guest mode).

My query is a bit different. Considering the TV has wi-di and miracast, isnt it possible to mirror the S7 screen to the TV. I need the same for casting my games etc. Is it possible to mirror a S7 screen to a LG Smart TV.
The answer is easy...
If any TV set supports Miracast the answer is yes.
However performance for games is a bit poor...

yes. it is possible. in fact, the function to mirror a smartphone screen to TV supporting Miracast has been there since at least Samsung S4.they have changed the name of the functionality a few times but the end result remained the same and different phone manufacturers have different name. Samsung called it Smart Connect now.

I have tested it, if you need to know and it works fine.
I have the same problem. With my Axon7 I can cast YT directly or the whole screen trough Settings/Screen/Cast but with the S7 Edge I can't find such option. Any step by step guide?
