[Q] Source of mystery lock screen unlock sound? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I have an AT&T GN3 and I'm seeing a very weird issue with my phone. If I disable the lock screen sound (Settings -> Sound -> Screen lock sound -> Unchecked), I still hear a short tone when I unlock my phone. If I enable the lock screen sound, I hear the expected lock screen sound PLUS that short tone. I cannot figure out how to get rid of that short tone when unlocking my phone. Anyone got a clue as to what's going on here? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

No, my setup is completely stock Touchwiz. I'm wondering if some application or lockscreen widget could be causing this sound?

I also have such Annoying sound when unlocking phone.
It works by going to setting, more setting, NFC, disabled NFC.

This means the NSA beginns tacking your activities when you unlock
Fun aside, turn off NFC, should solve it
hit 'thanks' if i helped you

Turning off NFC made the annoying sound go away! Problem solved. As an aside, is it me or is it weird that NFC does this?
Thank you imirai and Killberty!!

How to turn off slide to unlock

Since the ota update I can't turn on the pattern unlock without having the slide to unlock staying on also. It's either both or none. Any idea how to just have the pattern unlock? Thx!

I'm in the same boat as you and it is frickin annoying. Any help out there?
I cant turn off the slide lock at all. How are you turning it off?

Sorry fellas this is one of the annoyances with 2.2, no way around it. Its either nothing at all or the redunadant slide to unlock then enter pattern. Stupid and annoying I know. Hopefully they patch this with a future update.
I personally don't like having a screen lock at all. When I press the power button to bring my screen back I like it to go right to the home screen.
I know it increases the changes of 'butt dialing', etc, but I have very little issue with that.
At any rate, on 2.1 you could turn off all locks. When I moved to the Froyo leak, I lost the ability to turn off the slide to unlock screen.
Went into the market and found 'No Lock' from BoD. Simple little Toggle program that turns on/off the screen lock.
Doesn't seem to effect the situation with both slide & pattern locks, but does allow you to turn ALL the locks off (like I like )
Hope that helps.
This will also cause all buttons to wake up the phone. The screen lock is about my only gripe with 2.2.

Thanks for the replies. Guess we'll have to wait for a patch then. You can turn off both by going into the security menus btw.

[Q] Is it possible to disable answer slider without disabling lock

What I mean is, on the stock Motorola rom when the phone is unlocked there are two buttons 'Accept' and 'Decline' for incoming calls which changes back to sliders when the phone is locked. I was wondering if there was any way on a rooted phone this could be changed so shows those buttons always instead of the 'slide to answer' even when the phone is locked?
Right now I'm using the app Advanced Telephone. It pretty much does the job but gets a bit buggy sometimes. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Disable vibration when unlocking

I want to disable the vibration when I slide the finger to unlock the phone, I m using
NexusHD2-Gingerbread V3.2a (GWK74)(Android 2.3.7)[tytung_r13]
Is it possible to disable this annoying vibration, I have disabled all the settings related to vibration and this is the only one left.
There are several settings where you need to turn off haptic feedback, are you sure you tried them all?
I had that problem too, but managed to turn it off, but I don't remember clearly where.
I checked all the settings and there is no option to do this.
Go into sound settings, there should be something for haptic feedback. I'm running the same exact rom and I don't have that problem.

Its already disabled
Reboot maybe? Other than that I don't have a clue.

Is it possible to use pattern lock to use 3 dots instead of 4.

Music beat lights on with screen locked / other apps foreground

If you want your music beat lights to show while your screen is locked, or while you are using another app, do the following:
S1: Open an app that makes a notification appear in the notification bar, for example, the app I recommended above, or Skype.
S2: Turn on your music, then lock the screen - the lights should turn off.
S3: Turn on the screen, do NOT unlock the phone...swipe down to open the notifications panel, then press any other app's notification. the phone should unlock, with your lights still working even if you lock it again or use other apps.
However, lights do NOT change colour...it's locked to the current one. I suspect the Walkman app has to be in the foreground to process the album's dominant colour to display it.The workaround stops when you open the Walkman app. You can change songs from notification bar or lockscreen without stopping the workaround.
Let me know if it works for you or if your phone is locked with a pin!
I've tried with the pin lock and it doesn't work. I love doing the walkman + lock thing, unfortunately after a while the color doesn't "beat" anymore, it just stays on without changing

Many thanks for your tricks.
From your trick I found an easier way which no need open any app
- Play music -> turn off screen -> turn on screen -> swipe down notifications panel -> select setting icon on top right -> home button (option) -> turn screen off again.

hmm, wouldn't recommend leaving it on for too long. not sure about the battery drain if you do. I do it just for fun sometimes, that's all. Pretty sure someone can come up with a proper LED control for the SP in future, though it's not a priority. Would like my notification lights to cycle colours and all that without any workarounds
Unfortunately I need to wait for a root that bypasses locked bootloader before I can do anything.

I had it on for almost half an hour, it didn't drain too much but it overheated

Will using the light effects for long time, say 1 hour, damage the LED lights? I love music beat effect and would like to leave it on!

an hour is okay i think, just i suggest you turn off your mobile data and wifi because it'll drain the battery and because it'll make the phone overheat. but just as I have said before, after a while the led lights doesn't beat anymore they just stay on in one mode and stay that way

No worries about the LED damage.. they will last longer then the phone itself
Easy way of doing it
Instead of doing all this stuff, there's a neat little way by which you can keep the music led's working consuming no extra time.:cyclops:
Install Mini Lock from play store(It's just a 10 kb app!)
Open the app, give it administer priveleges, then slide up from the home screen button as you would do to open google now, But now you will see something different, there will be an option to launch google now or mini lock, choose mini lock and set it default.
Now open walkman, play music and lock the screen using the slide up gesture from home key, your screen will be locked and the music led will be ON!!!
Enjoy!!
If you like this, don't forget to press the thanks button

You can do that by disabling vibrations in the notification menu And setting "do not disturb mode" in "total silence mode"
Hi it works but I did not mean it because everything is turned off. Maybe there is a program that turns off all the vibrations on the phone because I did not find. root I do not have a thank you
You can install any quicksetting app like "shortcutter" from playstore...and create a toggle for sound/vibrate. Root is not required for that.
There's even an app for remapping hard buttons without root nowdays.
If you have Xposed installed, Vibration Tuner can stop the phone from vibrating.
