Rooting Questions - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just Got my new Note from T-Mobile, I want to Root Without Compromising my Warranty.
Model No - SM-N9005
I plugged me into Kies and I got this
Current firmware version : PDA:MI7 / PHONE:MI6 / CSC:MI4 (TPH)
Latest firmware version : PDA:MJ3 / PHONE:MJ2 / CSC:MJ3 (TPH)

Can't update N9005 through OTA or Kies 3

Currently I'm facing an issue with updating my Note 3, Today I have received an Update through OTA, but I didn't apply immediately I have unrooted my device first, while applying the OTA, in recovery the process reach the point when says updating system and then gives me an error, boot up again and advice me to use kies. kies has always been a problem to me, anyhow I installed kies 3, and somehow when ever I click on update firmware, the app freezes completely. I have done a complete factory reset and did the OTA again with no luck.
Note: I rooted using Vega, Unrooted using King
even after the factory reset I still get "Prevention Information" Notification message
Appreciate your help

I can't figure out which file suits my model!
Root de la Vega = no Ota, there is a new bootloader and new bootloader = no more de la vega
Your knox flag should be = 1 now? If it is the case, flash your newest stock firmware and root it with CF-ROOT

[Q]Knox 0x1, possible to upgrade to 4.4.2 Official Stock ROM?

Hello.
Because I do not remember correctly, I have knox 0x1, and I read somewhere it is not possible to upgrade to official roms if knox has been triggered.
Can I update my phone to 4.4.2 with knox triggered?
Yes you can via Odin
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Knox doesn't affect using official stock roms. It's only for warranty purposes and for the actual knox container itself.
As Dahdoul said, grab it and flash via ODIN.
Be warned. Once you upgrade there's no returning to 4.3 as the bootloader locks you into KK.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
is root and custom recovery such as philz touch available for 4.4.2?
Root and recovery are available yes but not PhilZ only CWM by chenglu works currently

I see in your signature, that you are already on KitKat, Is it worth the upgrade?
Did you notice any increase in perfomance?
Any cool features?
Do you have more RAM free?
Do apps work properly?
Any new samsung apps (blotware) worth mentioning?

Yup a lot smoother for sure
Nothing really new that stands out to be cool
Yes ram is up to 2.7GB now
I haven't encountered any issues with apps, including some Wanam tweaks
Standard Samsung stuff which I have removed with TB

One last question I forgot to ask:
Do I have to wipe/reset to factory defaults?
I don't want to lose my settings and programs.
If I have to reset to factory defaults, is there any program that back ups settings?

Sorry for my stupidness, I did not notice the last three letters in the file before the extension. The one I have downloaded is "N9005XXUENA6_N9005OXXENA5_XEO" which was downloaded from samfirmware but as you can see, the one you posted including the one I posted and there others I have seen contain "OXX" (N9005XXUENA6_N9005OXXENA5_XEO) and I got confused.

Sorry, really really last question:
How did you root?
Did you root by flashing n9005-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.6-kitkat(0113).tar with odin?
Because I flashed it, it booted fine to CWM, it asked me for root, I pressed yes, I installed & tried SuperSU by chainfire and SuperSU by clockworkmod and both were unable to find root.

RegionLockAway on a 4.4.2 ??!? Sorry mate, It wont work...
What Network is it locked to ?
CfAutoroot
If you want to root witrh CfAutoroot use the attached Odin.
It is modified to root the S4 4.4, but I'm afraid you wont be able to unlock network with RegionLockAway. But give it a shoot.
Tell me how it goes then

Is it possible to downgrade note 3 from 5.0 to 4.4?

Friends, is it possible to downgrade n9005 back to kitkat? I am having many problems on 5.0.
I have searched the forum but could not find any step by step guide to do so.
I'd use Odin to install a 4.4 stock and work from there

Worked for me without any issues. Obviously you need to unlock the bootloader etc again afterwards as it just becomes stock but I've gone from 4.4 to 5 and back again several times.

Yes just be aware that you are not using older kit kat firmwares..
I personally use n9005xxugng1 firmware to downgrade
And do a backup cause factory reset is needed

Is it possible to UNROOT Note 4 N910F and make it like really new. Totally unrooting?

Hey thanks for your time. Is there such process or alink which shows us how to do this? I mean like really unrooting and installing stock firmware and the knox counter to 0 like really fresh install?
