MOD/Update L3 e400 to 4.0.4? - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've seen this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184952
Is this safe to use?
Any risk of bricking?
Even if I brick my phone, can I restore it to original state?
EDIT: I'm looking to update my android to 4.0.4 ( I don't really like stock 2.3.6 :c) and I want the safest way and most stable way to do this! IS this mod good or is it better to go with Cyanogen 4.0.4?

Please help me!!

It's safe and doesn't risk any brick.
But not all brick can be repaired.

You can try MiniCM9 in my signature. It's stabler than CM9 Nightly.

Flash back to ICS Stock Bootloader. Remove Superuser. Run a stock kernel. Looks like a good plan to me. Or just run a stock ICS.

rooting does not solve your problem. But when you root your phone u will be able to install custom rooms like cm.
If you don't want to root (because you lost your warranty) you can do a factory reset in stock recovery. that might help.

I think you should upgrade to Jelly Beans. (But you will have to root your cell)
I myself have done it and I find JB quite good. Here is a link for steps to upgrade.

I also want to root my Defy+ but I m having some doubts and questions -
Will I be able to revert back to(flash) Stock SBF? I do possess the stock SBF of my region.
Although I am sure it won't but, will the bootloader and stock recovery be affected? And if yes how I am going to COMPLETELY revert back?
Success! Now rooted and running cm9
As for returning it to standard I can't confirm, but once you go. Cm you don't want to go back

- To claim your warranty or to revert any mishap, you HAVE to.

- Build Number 4.5.1-134_DFP-231; Same as the SBFs provided and Sys. ver. is 45.0.2310.MB526.AsiaRetail.en.03(you know, Indian Defy+, assuming they all have same numbers/versions).
What about the BL or recovery, will they affected?

You have a BL7 device.
Don't worry 'bout anything, just go with the modding & whenever you want to revert just flash your stock SBF and your phone will be just as you bought it including recovery and BL.

Help with 4.1.2

Hi guys this is the first time i have rooted and flashed a device. I managed rooting my N7 and flashing PA Rom and Motley kernel. Now I want to flash back to stock rom and update to 4.1.2 via OTA or directly flash the official 4.1.2 pure stock. However I still want to maintain root and CWM. Is this possible? Can someone please help me out with details as kind of a noob. I even want to understand how Titanium Backup works. If i backup my apps and then do a factory reset while flashing a new rom how does the backup remain if everything is lost in factory reset. Thanks a lot for helping.

Do it manually like I did, its just as quick as the OTA, you keep all your files and I didn't loose root, was done in 5 mins.
Heres the thread to the manual tutorial:

Hope this helps mate

The update can only be applied to a completely stock rom, if you have made any changes to the rom(build.prop edits, etc) the zip will fail to flash
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium

You need a stock RUU, but I'm not sure where to find those. Once you have the stock RUU, adb push the update and your all strawberries and cream
The update will fail if build.prop is modifed and most custom roms modify that. So it would be safer to flash stock image and sideload the update.
Or else wait for the custom ROM developer to incorporate those changes.

[Q] how to remove twrp

HI
Somebody here can help me , i want to remove twrp ,and get back my stock recovery. How do i do that?
And if i flash the stock rom does it come with the kernel .
Flash the stock ROM, update.
This will return you to stock recovery and stock kernel, and if you are on the stock ROM now (not a custom ROM) you will not have to do a full wipe. SO you can keep your apps/settings/data
Thats easy thanks

Yes, it is quite easy.
Do your homework though, because you can just as easily brick your phone.

If you're looking at flashing only the kernel, you might check out this post. Be careful with this, though - if you do this method wrong, it is possible to hard-brick your device. Also, it's for the AT&T S4 only.
