confused about model numbers - Xperia Tablet Z General

Can someone please explain what model number each different type of XTZ is, and which Pollux windy and Pollux are?

SGP is the device code.
Pollux is the device's codename, like Yuga was for Xperia Z, Odin for ZL, Nozomi for S, and so on. Pollux_Windy is for the data variations.
SGP 311 is the 16 Gb, WiFi only version. SGP 312, the 32 Gb, WiFi only. Thus, the last digit means the internal capacity of the device.
SGP 321 is the 16 Gb, international WiFi + 4G model. I know that there is a 351 for the WiFi + 4G, US model.
Another variation is the SGP 321 BR, which is the 321 model for Brazil...
I don't know any others right now...

[DISCUSSION] Difference-Desire Z and the G2 Vision

What is the difference between these phone apart from one being locked to t-mobile it is confusing me Thanks
no difference except for one runs sense while the other runs stock android. desire z might have some extra bands but internally and cosmetically nothing different
Confused me too cause im the mod for the G2 when they announced it i was a little lost

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, dual-band HSPA/WCDMA
I hope that root and a sense rom dont take long for the g2!!!!
The two forums should probably be merged :\ Besides the fact that one comes loaded with Sense and the other not, they're identical.
Devs are dealing with the same hardware.
Edit: Oh wait, that's right. The G2 would be AWS-band for T-Mobile. Scrap what I said above.
Nobody noticed the ROM difference?
Desire Z has 1.5GB while G2 has 4GB.
Besides that, there are some difference in the Keyboard keys. For one, where the Tab key would be on the Desire Z, it'll be the www / com key on the G2.
Also, GSM arena lists the wifi for G2 as b/g only while for the Desire Z is b/g/n. Specs on HTC's website does not mention what wifi G2 has. Can anyone confirm whether G2 has b/g/n?
Internal Storage
G2 - 4GB
Z - 1.5GB
OS
G2 - Stock Android 2.2
Z - Android 2.2 with Sense
3G Compatibility
G2 - Band IV only. Works in USA(T-Mobile, etc) and Canada(Mobilicity, WIND wireless, etc.)
Z - Bands I and VIII works in Europe, Asia, Africa and Brazil and a few other places
These are the ones I have noticed.
Is there any difference in RAM?
I'm just thinking back to my google branded Vodafone HTC Magic having less than the non-google version :-(
I think its unfair G2 has 4GB

wait a sec. i thought g2 only had 1.5gb like the Z. though at least this way won't run out of space for apps. sucks how g2 only has band IV. don't think it'll work in asia or europe.
Oh my god you serious? So I can't buy an unlocked G2 and use 3G here in Italy?
................
I was planning on getting the UK stock Desire Z. While I doubt I'll want to 3G roam via my home account (too darned expensive) it might be nice to get a US SIM card for while I'm over in the USA. How compatible (or not) will it be for data use between Europe and the USA?

Both the Z and the G2 have 512 MB RAM.

In specs:
Band (frequency): 850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100)
"850 MHz;900 MHz;1800" - Isn't it for 2g? and UMTS for 3g?
No 850/1900 MHz 3G for the Desire Z
No 4 GB for the Desire Z
That's why I'm looking at the Motorola Droid 2 WE (world edition) too
Droid 2/Milestone 2 Cons:
It's a Moto, No Sense, Not HTC, just some blur
Droid 2/Milestone 2 Pros:

Faster chip - 1GHz
Slightly smaller and lighter
Dual LED flash

[REF] Nexus S Hardware Model variants

05/07/11 - Finally, nexus wiki page is updated a few weeks ago. My apologies for being under the rock this whole time. Kudos to the guys who did all the work. Thanks so much guys for helping providing these infos. Keep them coming if you have anything to add.
================================================
I think there should be a sticky, or an updated nexus s wiki, about the variants of nexus s we are having lately and upcoming
Like, for example:
gt-i9020t for t-mobile, with info like samoled, t-mobile radio band, ...
gt-i9023 for europe, with amoled/sclcd, ...
and the ones coming out in canada
==================================================
Well, I finally figured out all these technical problems I was having - Thread got moved
Anyway, I just hope that we all share what we know, correct misleading info, gather it all and hopefully someone update the Nexus S wiki page.
(like the Galaxy S page where different models are listed which I think is very helpful)
==================================================
Model: GT-I9020T
Compatibility: T-Mobile USA, Wind, Mobility (900/1700/2100)
Screen type: Super AMOLED
Model: GT-I9020A, GT-I9020F

(Rooting differs from I9020T)
Model: GT-I9023

Screen type: Super Clear LCD
(Rooting method also differs from I9020T)
Model: SPH-D720

Actually, this just came up while I was about to buy myself one
Now, I am holding off because I want to get an at&t compatible one, but worried if it has sclcd which I don't prefer
As I digged deeper, the more I got confused
So I thought there should be some info on this that would help me and everyone else
Yes, I would make a thread for this, only if I had the time as I have a very tight schedule with work and school
9020 samoloed 9023 slcd
and if I'm not mistaken the 9023 is only around in europe. (which is why i have one - and let me tell you the screen isn't half bad either - the only pain is that it needs different recovery roms than the 9020 and that finding out how to unlock/root it took 10 extra minutes )
i think you guys got it a bit off...
i9020 is the original one (T-mobile USA 1700/2100 3G)
then came the i9023 (Europe 1700/2100 3G)
and it came the
i9020A (for AT&T 850/1900 3G)
and coming soon is the Nexus S 4G for sprint, which we do not yet the model code

The AT&T is 9020A, the 9020 model is Super AMOLED. Adding the A means it'll be Super AMOLED. If it was SLCD then it would be 9023A.
Sprint will probably be 9020S

Considering one has to use the rooting technics of the 9023 to get a 9020A rooted, i don't see rhyme or reason for standard in the naming convention.
I strongly suspect that 9020 means AMOLED, 9023 means LCD, the A indicates ATT, the carrier info, or A as an official variant of the base model.
I believe that the reason the 9023 guide needs to be used to root the 9020A is because of the hardware revision of the device. I don't think that the 9023's only major difference is the screen and radio, there is something else more under the hood that is making a difference in how the phone behaves. And it's these changes that are brought into future models (like the 9020A)
My Device for example is marked as "REV - 16" for it's hardware revision

this is indeed correct if you look over at the i9000 forum
all the SLCD version of the Galaxy S are coded i9003 or something with a 3, like i903 (china SLCD version), i909 (china SAMOLED verison)
so for whatever the reason they like to use 3 to mean SLCD version

@jk0l
you should also list the frequency bands they operate in 3G otherwise is pretty useless to only know the models
we all know quad-band works with voice, but 3G are different for each of those
refer to my previous replies for details
the AT&T/Rogers/Fido also works on Telus/Bell
the T-mobile USA version also works with MobilityCity, Windmobile, Vidéotron

But anyway, I've just included it as you prefer
PS. did you know that videotron still carries nexus one?
I dont know about now, but it was there the last time I checked
Don't foget that the i9023 is slightly thicker than the i9020 too - dues to the sclcd screen technology.
I found this out the hard way when buying a case for my i9023. It doesn't fit!
re: wiki
everyone is free to help update the wiki
you automatically have access to edit the wiki, for those that knows how to code in Wiki language.
GT-i9023 also can be had with a white battery cover, colour is classed as Perl White on the box.
what about the first stock model?
model Nexus S(yha thats how its model name is on my nexus s.):S
well its model GT-I9020
not I9020T.
last time i checked, england is in europe, and it has the i9020.
i'm also coming to the conclusion that the 9020a that's available in canada has improved gps drivers. of course as the phone - i'm guessing - will need root to install new drivers on the phone - those with the existing problem are sol. that's why google are 'looking into the problem' which i don't believe was not caught in testing, and is probably why a new phone has been released in canada for samsung to prove they can correct the problems.

Sony launches 'updated' Xperia Z1 in China

http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/12/1...ches-in-china-as-the-xperia-z1-l39t/#comments
Big changes:
-aluminum frame replaced by chrome plastic frame
-No microsd support, default 32GB storage in device
-Different placement of headphone jack
Internals are all the same. This is believed to be the Z1s 'refresh' that people were talking about being released. Looks like an inferior version of the current Z1, albeit a little bit lighter.
The most important thing is support for LTE-TDD I think as I can't open the link now.
And another why you guys focus on the Z1's follower, at least SoC or some more important things added like nexus 5's Senors batch access. Other small change not a big deal for sell the phone in your hand and get a new one.If Sony begin the rule in world like in Japan, the phone will refresh 3 months, and what, told yourself I must get the new one?
Sorry for the last part but can't stand for some guys wish to ruin such a good phone.
it is just a variant rather than "updated" Z1. it is almost identical with just minor changes rather than improvements.
This is just the China Mobile variant of the Z1, nothing more. China Unicom's version was the L39, this will be the L39t. China Mobile runs their own proprietary version of CDMA and this device will be compatible with their TD-LTE bands. If you live in China that's a great thing, outside of China this will only work on 3G bands.

US & Global variant comparison

We know for sure that there is two different version of the Axon 7, the one sold in North America and the one sold in Europe (and china ?), respectively named A2017U & A2017G.
It would be great to compare the hardware of both these version to see if there is any differences (besides network bands and software) or if they are the same except in name.
Can two persons with the two variants be kind enough to provide AIDA64 screenshots of the importants category listed in AIDA64 ?
Thanks !

Depending on how they did the antenna and power amplifier design, they could still be the same exact HW. The 820 SoC supports all those bands, so at some level, it's just programming the chipset and ROM on which to allow.

This was talked about a little in the webinar. They had been marketing 3140, but when they talked to the battery manufacturer, they had actually done 3250 mAh so they changed the marketing material to match. Since the Chinese phones were already released at that point, I'd be willing to bet there is some piece of code somewhere in there reporting the old values rather than the new values. Or ZTE or the battery manufacturer got something wrong.

I have the 4gb RAM, 128gb ROM version. It is Chinese but seems to work fine here in Australia...
Funnily enough, some of the problems complained about by the US owners aren't present on the Chinese version with no problems on English translations ( I have language set to English).
Camera has NEVER had a problem and build quality is fantastic with no problems.
It has slight differences in appearance, the major being the gold US version I've seen seems to have white antenna bars on back and headphone jack has a white collar, mine has slightly lighter gold bars for the antenna and goes gold to black interior for the headphone jack.
Other than a few apps that I can't seem to get from the playstore (starts to download and the playstore up and closes) there doesn't seem to be much other difference...
Firmware version is B07 and model is A2017...
Oh, and on Antutu Benchmark I get around 142000 just edging out One Plus 3 for top position, if benchmarks mean anything to you...

It doesn't say "Designed in the USA" does it?

World S8/8+ = 4gb RAM 64gb ROM -vs- China S8/8+ = 6gb RAM 128gb ROM

Ouch! Why will there be a difference?
"China to Get High-End Version of Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM & 128GB ROM"
Could it be that the market has more competitive Phone choices?
I was looking for the 128Gb version because I kept seeing it would be released and the only version Tmobile is releasing is the 64Gb version. Seemed odd.
I think its retarded too, they should of just sold one model (6GB RAM/128GB) worldwide. When I had a Mate 9, I had to buy the CHN version for 6/128 compared to the normal 4/64. I might have to do it again if the CHN version supports all of TMO LTE bands. One thing I've experienced with CHN vs US phones is I get better reception with the US version even though the CHN supports all of TMO bands.
It's costs, it's probably cheaper over there, the price increase for 6gb/128gb in the UK would make the S8+ nearly 1000 quid!!!!!
Don't know what's going on... I'm in China and will hopefully grab one once they are up for sale... Worries me that there are no pre orders yet. Also... Needs to have an exact HK variant. If they aren't the same model as the HK variant, then I won't be able to exchange firmware, and then there is no way I will put myself through the torture of a phone without Google.NO WAY! I guess I'd wait until summer to pick up the 4gb version in my home country... Probably the metaphorical smoke will have cleared by then and things will have calmed down a bit to see what battery life is like. Worried I'll purchase another battery lemon like what happened to my 6p... Man, that battery died in a year and a bit.

Chinese model = no warranty so thats a deal breaker for me
6GB vs 4GB RAM you probably wont notice the difference in real world use
You can buy a 128GB SD card for much less than the difference in RRP between world and chinese models
Finally will the chinese model support the LTE bands required for your region and carrier?
Too many unknowns for me
it my have a global modem that supports all bands (bar cdma in the sd 835). agree, you wont notice much of a difference between 4/6 gb...
Will 6gb affect battery life in a negative way? I still doubt this will happen, but nonetheless, don't mind investigating thoughts on this matter.
Things to remember if you get the CHN version is no warranty, stuck on CHN ROM unless you root and install a different ROM and possible no wifi calling if your US carrier supports it.

I agree that being stuck on CHN firmware is a horror show if you are not a Mandarin/Chinese language user.
From another perspective, so long as there is a HK firmware for SAME model number, you should be able to change firmware to HK firmware from CHN Firmware using ODIN. Pretty simple process. I have managed to do this on several Samsung phones no worries. Only with the C7 (2016) did I recently come across some weirdness that was solved by an XDA member who prescribed a relatively painless ordering of ODIN processes.
However, Samsung used to have weird China only models that did not have a HK firmware variant... which completely sucked - My Note 4, SN-9108v was a horrible experience due to this firmware and model isolation practice. Also, there are some phones that are only sold in China and only come again with Chinese Firmware (possibly the C9 pro (2017) is an example - can't remember). If Samsung have chosen the same isolationist Chinese model practice for s8, then avoid it like the plague... You'll be buying into a joyless and expensive sans google experience that will only be tolerable with decent Mandarin skills to enjoy the plethora of Chinese app store equivalents to google.
At this stage, I cannot find any reliable links to Chinese and HK model numbers. Perhaps a Chinese based Mandarin XDA user can clarify. I am very interested in preordering this mythical Chinese s8+, but I am not in the industry and am a little time poor in terms of being able to research this. There certainly seems to be very little reputable information (in English) or easily found reputable information (via translate) that details exactly when or how pre-orders in China or HK will operate. Just unsubstantiated re-reported links and news stories about the 6Gb variant and blah blah blah.
Would be really great to hear from someone legitimately more informed than me in this matter.
Cheers!

128gb available in Korea ... interesting. Fingers crossed this type of deal pops up in China (and importantly, HK).

That is because China has many local brands provide adequate device with only one third price. If you can maximum your specks. You will fail there!
Nope. I'm off the Sammy train. Thinking Xperia xz premium
Read an article that says Samsung is mulling over bringing the 6Gb to the US and other markets besides China / Korea. If this happens I would like to know who made the original not to release in other markets so I can kick then in the nuts.
I don't care if it is 4GB or 6. Just so long as it is NOT Snapdragon. Speed tests seem to already be confirming that the typical $#!++y ram management is still present in the Snapdragon S8 and S8+ phones. Also; If I were to buy the Snapdragon model, I would not be able to activate mobile hot spot on Cricket. You can with International phones (Exynos).
I wonder how much extra battery the 6gb version uses. I remember the ram upgrade ont he Uni used to eat battery.
