there is no recovery using cwm, when i click on recovery setup it gives me two options
install or update and recover already installed.
none of those options displays note 3 as a compatible device.
when i try to boot into recovery mode i get my old Could not boot into normal mode.

clockworkmod not letting me backup. Samsung Galaxy S.

Im sorry if this has been brought up before, but i couldnt find a thread with the same problem.. Whenever I try to do a backup with ClockWorkMod(before you ask yes i have flashed it) Anyway i click on the backup option, my phone then resets and boots into recovery, at which point it says "install default apk-files. please wait" and "install default apk-files. finished" and just stays there, with the normal recovery options, reboot, apply update, wipe data etc etc.. My phone is a rooted Galaxy S running stock Froyo.
Thanks in advance,

when you are in recovery what is the first thing it says ?? does is say android recovery system <3e> or does it have somethin like ClockWork Mod x.x.x.x (x being numbers)
It says "Android system recovery (3e)".
Had this same issue at one point, but this resolved it for me:

Do yourself a favor and download Root Explorer from the Market so that you can apply the the file supplied in the zip.
the link to that thread is broken.
Not sure what happened but try this one:

thanks for that ill give it a try and let you know how it goes.
Nope still not working, thanks for the suggestion anyway
you need 2e to flash unsigned zips, your still on stock recovery.
quickest easiest way just flash speedmod or voodoo kernel, gives the phone extra performance too.
or if you just want recovery flash CF-ROOT.

Can you please provide the steps of what you've done? You said that this didnt work for you but did you follow the instructions? Did you reboot your phone into android recovery and choose the option for installing the update.zip? Are you using Rom Manager?
You're most likely trying to do a backup using rommanager. Same thing happens to me. When on the 3e screen just reboot and then straight away enter recovery using the 3 button method. It then enters 2e recovery and begins to backup automatically. Or just start the backup with the 3 button method instead.

Cant install CWM or TWRP on my Sprint S4

I was having so strange issues with my S4 after I originally rooted it so after messing with it for a while I decided to just start over from scratch. I used L720VPUAMDC_L720SPTAMDC_SPR and was able to get it loaded up without any problems and the phone runs fine.
Problem: I tried to re-root the phone again but I cant get cwm or twrp installed. I downloaded rom manager just to try to get cwm installed from there but when I looked under the recovery rom section I says that I have both CWM and TWRP installed already when I dont. I can boot into download mode and the stock recovery but I cant seem to get any other recovery to install.
Anyone know something I can do to get one of these recoveries installed?
Thanks

Here's odin 3.07 and twrp recovery. Just put your phone in Download mode, put the recovery in the pda section of Odin, and then boot to recovery and you should be good :good:

[Q] Recovery not Booting

Hey, I seem to have gotten myself into a pickle. Here's what happened: I wanted to do an update to Cyanogenmod 10.2, so I downloaded the ROM and gapps. I wiped dalvik, cache, and system and flashed the ROM. When I tried to flash the gapps Clockwork Mod said it was corrupt. No problem, turned the phone off, pulled micro usb card and put the gapps on that. The only problem is now I can't boot into recovery at all, with the Power+down option and ROM Manager crashes when I try to open it. So the problem is that I can't boot into recovery and I can't reinstall ROM Manager because I don't have gapps. Titanium Backup is also having problems and can't get root access. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
I'd Odin back to stock and start over.

How do I do that? Will I be able to since I had CyanogenMod 10.1 on before I tried to update?
Also, It would be better if I could just reflash a custom recovery, is there any way to do that?

See if you can find an odin flashable recovery. There's probably one in the development forum. Flash that.

you can either format data in cwm or in stock recovery format data/reset
or if that doesnt sort the boot loop quickest way to solve it is just to flash stock rom via odin
Remember next time before you do anything like flashing a mod or trying out something different to always make a nandroid backup in cwm - this way if you get into a boot loop or want to revert what you have done you just have to restore your nandroid backup
anyway stock rom firmware is found on my thread below

follow the instructions fully on my thread
you need to install the usb drivers
you need to put your phone into download mode (vol down home button power button)
cwm is not required and not used to flash stock rom via odin - you must be in download mode NOT recovery mode

if on stock kernel use a tempory cwm zip in stock recovery to get to cwm (need to do it each time you want to enter cwm
http://d-h.st/u2m
or flash any kernel that has a perminant cwm - your choice dont ask me to suggest
