Hello,
I've a big battery issue on my LG G2... Everything was working fine and my battery held 1,5 days in normal use. Yesterday I noticed a dramatic battery performance, I have to charge my phone every 3 or 4 hours I can't even charge it while its on because it continue de discharging...
In the battery details, I noticed that there is new "Media" app running all the time and the phone is becoming very hot while it's in my pocket. This application is eating my batterie and I don't know how to stop it...
Any help please? I uploaderd some screenshots for you.
Thank you

In addition to this, get wakelock detector and see whats stopping your device from deep sleep

press long button till taskmanager appears kill it there, could be onetime error.
Happens more often then press home longtime, open taskmanager and press menu button, disable if its a service from there.

Thank you for you help. My phone is rooted. I installed Greenify and wakelock... Unfortunately this media app is a kind of multiple system services, it dont show in the task manager or greenify... And I can't stop it form the menu cause it restart again (the force stop button is disabled)...
The services are:
- Media Storage
- Downloads
- DRM Protected Content Storage
- Download Manager
And they are using 90% of my CPU all the time (doing what ever they are doing)... I've made some search and it seems that it's an android related problème (not only the LG G2)... I've disabled the Downloads, DRM Protected Content Storage and Download Manager services... But I cannot disable the Media storage... It seems that this service keep scanning a corrupted media file (MP3 and photos...), so I deleted all my MP3 but no way
I finally done a reset to factory settings... Will see
Try Rescan Media
I had the same problem om my GS3, this solved it.
do you have fully synced backup aps running,
try disabling in this case via settings, general, backup&restore the checkbox at backup my data.
That way you probably wont have to disable those services.
I think some app, or this backup settings have gone amuck. Factory reset is last resort, but otherwise clearing cache\app data of backup stuff might help.

What Bachera said. Sounds like you have an app that's eating you alive. Titanium Backup then Factory reset. Don't restore anything until you test your phone, then if all is well add apps one at a time. DON"T restore system data. Good luck!
Actually it's a new phone (and i'm new at Android as well) so I didn't have that much data to backup... I did a rest to factory setting with no backup. It's working for the moment

its syncing all your google stuff dude. aka contacts apps and any settings you have set to auto backup.
I'll try turning off sync for the day, see if that helps
Thanks for the reply!

Syncs a major killer, first think I turn off. If you root, theirs no need for most of the stuff it does

Can you explain why rooting eliminates the need for the functions "sync" provides?
Do a factory reset. Syncing has nothing to do with this issue. I sync three emails, facebook and twitter. I am easily getting 15-20 hours with over 2 hours of screen-on time.

Because you can use titanium back up for everything, I still use Google sync tho, the first days is the ones the takes the biggest hits after that I think is fine unless you keep updating contact and what not

If there was a way to sync Google contacts only when a contact has been added on the device or from the web, I'd turn off autosync. The random syncs seem to be my problem, but I'd be up the creek without them.
Don't think sync is the culprit - I have had android phones for quite some time now and they all been sync'ing same amount of data - no such drain. This is something SGS3 specific. There's a lot of modules listed under Android System. One thing I suspect is that I switched network to EvDo/CDMA/Something/WCDMA, which might be not a particular good idea. Turned back to CDMA only, since LTE is not available here just yet (waiting for this damn Sunday!) and will see if that improves the stats.

I had GPS toggled on the past 2 days and got horrible battery life and high Android System use.
Toggled it off today and it has been much better.
The weather app likes to use it. And I also noticed it firing on randomly. Just turn it off. Maybe it's the GLONASS support, but it sucks down battery particularly well.
I wish Google would separate out Location permissions from GPS permissions. Then in CM9/10 we could just uncheck GPS permissions.
Some apps I like general location, but they have no business using GPS.
Hello, when it happens something that I do not understand with my N4.
Whenever I lock my N4 pressing the button the screen turns off after a few seconds but then (this is random) it turns back on itself, arises on the lockscreen (my home is a diagram) and shuts itself anew after 2 minutes (because it's my time to sleep after non-use).
It breaks my head.
Have you any idea?.
Any special app ?
I do not know, this is not for a particular app.
When I use my phone normally and I put it to sleep, it locks, but the screen turns off after a few seconds the screen turns on for no reason.
And this happens several times per hour alone.
Sorry for my bad english, i am french.
I have the exact same thing! It's annoying! I presume it's a program I installed, but I don't know which. And I'm too lazy to uninstall them one by one... Any program I can use to see what's waking the screen? I'm not rooted btw...
Yes I think that is the cause of a program but I do not know which.
Is there an application to list the process?
Have you installed 'flipturn' or whatever it's called app ?
I don't have an app called flipturn. I don't have any app that starts with the word flip...
Me too i dont have an app called flipturn..
If you don't have any "special" app, I would do a factory reset
It's not bothering me so much that I want to lose all my save data by doing a factory reset....
I had this issue and figured out how to fix it. Problem is, I don't remember how I fixed it. I think it was due to an app waking my phone. Check your apps to see if any of them have the permission to wake your device.

So I made the restoration, i havent had the problem for more than 24 hours (I know because I watched all the time to see if it was ok or not after each lock, I watched as the one for minute)
But since today is the problem recurred.
So what I'll do, I'll redo a restore with the factory image but not new to reinstall my applications because it has to be somewhat of a blind application of the play.
Because I do not think the problem is hardware or it will be declared soon after the restoration, or it is returned after a ten hour (just after installing all my applications because I do not make on).
Its an apk, I had that problem with this apk..

Same problem as u. From my understanding it's the 4.3 update that is continuing to try and download in the background. There is a few fixes floating around but none of them have work for me.

[Q] Google Services - huge data usage
If you have a custom recovery, try yourzgapps.
I think you should have a look at your google+ backup options... It's probably backing up all your pictures.

google + settings, make sure your picture backup is set to wifi only.. each time you flash a new rom check that to ensure it's not hogging your data
To fix the google service data feast without losing battery life or connection to the servers do the following:
1) Download autorun manager.
2) Open it and picked advanced(recommended).
3) In setting check show system entries.
4) Go back to the main screen and on the left top corner pick system apps.
5) find google service framework and expands it.
6) find systemUpdateService$Receiver and uncheck it (should be the last one).
7) You can also uncheck systemUpdateService$SecretCode just in case( I got it disabled).
I check my Google+ settings and everything was checked off. I'm going to download autorun manager and try that. Thanks!
Install FOTAKILL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249350

My phone is unrooted and stock at the moment because i use Private Mode to store some notes and pictures... If there is an alternative to private mode or private mode works while rooted what is recommended for max battery life?

After upgrade, do you make factory reset on phone? (After factory reset, all apps and internal storage is erased!!!. Make a backup first time on Internal Storage (you dont have root to make Apps Backup)

I first upgraded, then the phone was slow as hell so i did a full factory reset and formatted the external SD card. re-intalled apps from the "select apps to restore" menu during reset. I have less apps than before upgrade and higher battery drain.
The logs show that android system, kernel and UI are using most power, both when idle and when using the phone
As the title states for some reason. Wi-Fi is constantly running.
No idea how or why. Nothing is enabled. Wi-Fi calling is also off.
Thank you in advance!

Better battery stats....... Is that a 3rd party app?
Could be that that battery app is miss reading something and giving you false information based on your other screen shots.
@shwnr11
That could be it. Better Battery Stats is a well known XDA application made by a member here named chamonix.
It is free for us XDA members but it is also a Paid application on the PlayStore.
I'll read up on his thread to see if he can point me into the right direction.
I wanted to come on here first to see if anyone else with a V20 is using this application and having the same problem.
I recently rooted my phone and at first I did not use a Custom Rom like (Overdrive, Etc.) and I ran into the same problem where the stats are showing Wi-Fi constantly running. I thought I may have deleted or frozen something using TitaniumBackup and I just could not figure it out at all and decided to go ahead and try the Overdrive Custom Rom to see if was something I did.
And of course after setting up my phone BetterBatteryStats is showing Wi-Fi is constanly running again...even on a clean install of a Custom Rom. It is not "On" because that is labeled as something else within the stats and it does not seem to be draining battery even though it shows "100%" battery usage. I am still achieving at the end of the day "1.0%" drain every hour.
But I appreciate you commenting and not just "Viewing" like the other 100 or less viewers have.
I still have no idea what would cause this type of battery usage with the Wi-Fi.
I decided to go ahead and do a fresh clean install of OverDrive's Custom Rom. I have not loaded any of my apps from Titanium Backup but Better Battery Stats.
After 2 hours now BBStats does not show this type of battery usage anymore.
So I am even more puzzled now. It may be that I deleted an app or apk or frozen something that requires Wi-Fi to behave properly.
Is there a list of aps or apks that we can safely remove or freeze?

Check in developer options and make sure allow WiFi room scans is turned off, when on it sends your location data to Google even when you turn WiFi off.
wifi
Common sense isn't all that common
@ZDeuce2
That was the first place I thought to look because I remember that being an issue with the Nexus 6 but unfortunately it was already disabled.
But I believe it may have been something I deleted or froze because I went ahead restored all of my apps one by one that I had prior just to see if it was an app of mine and I did not delete or freeze or anything this time around and Wi-Fi is not showing any usage at all with the BBStats app.
Yea I am puzzled but I am a happy camper now. BBStats is showing a solid "0.2%" battery usage every hour! Getting awesome battery life now.
Thank you though good sir for the comment.
