I'm teaching myself to solder under a microscope and I have a bad S4 m.b. I want to repair, or try to anyway. My question is, what is the actual name for the rows of connector pins on the m.b. The set i'm looking for are the ones that connect the MENU and BACK buttons to the m.b. If anyone knows what it's called and where I can buy something like that would you please be so kind as to point me in the right direction ?

Hi there
I have broken recently the USB connector at the bottom of the device. Managed to replace it with a good one but one of the pads is broken of the board. Has anyone got a schematics of it or know where the USB connection point are? It does charge but is not recognised by ActiveSync
THanks
Here you have the Charmer Service Manual:
http://mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC Charmer_Service_Manual.pdf
thanks for that. However, there is no schematics in this manual. I have already replaced the connector but one of the pins has come of the board. Need a point on board to connect it to. It is the second pin from left looking at the connector facing you.
Thanks
Got to ask,did you get the same USB connector? as i looked and could not find the same one,in the end i replaced it with a smaller one,as for your problem,I have taken mine apart and had a good look round,on the underside there is what looks like a point you could try,it's right where the second pin is,how you would solder there is a tuff one but thats the only thing i can see.
Thanks to your reply. I have notice it and did solder but did not do anything. Can you possibly buzz the connector to the point around and just check which one of them to connect to. I have tried with MDA I but it is complitly different board.
Thanks
I will have a try for you over the next few days, kinda busy with a move going on,just to make sure i'm looking at the right pin,it's the second one along as you look from above going left to right?
failing to load the zipped pic. Only up to 2 MB - should be 8 mb max
As you are looking at the pins connected to the board it is the second one from left. For other people's use if you get all 3 ot them on pic should somebody else need it. If you cannot get the pic I will try to upload the pic tomorrow.
Thanks for your effort
the pic of broken pad
As promissed here is the pic. It's the second pad from left
Thanks
Lonegunman, are you still with us?
Still here, have done a few tests to see if i can pin point a place for you but not had much luck, problem being my one is working, what i will do at some point is remove pin 2 from mine and see if i can find a point, just for your info the pin you are missing is the data -, so as you say it will charge but not sync.
thanks..... Dont think you need to remove it. If you got the multimeter you can measure resistance from that pin to anything around it. when resistance is zero it is defo a point I can connect it to.
Thanks for your effort once again
anyone willing to help please
please...someone has an open charmer. All I need is someone to buzz the second pin to a place on the board
Sorry been busy on loads of other thing (repairing a plasma TV is no fun i can tell you)anyway if your uk based PM me you address i should have a spare one i can post over to you for you to try and work out what you need.
pm sent. thanks
Special thanks to lonegunman who kindly sent me his MDA and help to repair it. The data pin connects to SM resistor just above it.
Thanks lonegunman again
In the process of replacing my lcm, I managed to tear the button flex cable that connects to the mainboard.
I am currently looking for a the button flex replacement. What is the best way of tracking something like this down without going to HTC?
If there is no current seller/merchant available...Um...Is anyone selling an HTC HD2 for parts!?!?!?
Pics included...You can see the button strip, and the little 45 degree angle break on the flex..SUCKS!
I saw the break... Man, that's bad luck...
I hope you find a new button strip. The only other solution would be to solder fine wires from the point I highlighted on the photo. But that is very very very difficult... If you decide to do so until you find a new button strip I would recommend you to let an expert solder it, for example a television-technician. That shouldn't cost you more than a bier for the technician!
Wish you luck!
This just in, I have since purchased a broken hd2 and replaced the button strip. It has a light adhesive and is mounted on two small plastic posts on either end. To loosen the adhesive, just apply gentle heat (blow dryer) and GENTLY peel off. You might come across a stubborn part and want to give it a harsh tug, but you need to methodically peel it up using some sort of flat piece to get from underneath it.
Another torn flex Anyone has spare one or knows where can I get it?
I'm sorry but can't help. I get parts for iPAQs from iPAQ Repairs in the UK. I'm surprised there isn't something similar for HTC parts.
I'm interested in what an 'lcm' is. I've seen it mentioned but with no description.
i need one of these too. i hate htc's policy in not selling parts directly.
This button board should only be like upto $40 usd.
im needing a main board charger soxet broke if price is right ill sell
I have the same problem ....you solved?
where did you buy?

You should be a good electronic technician or know a good one. Otherwise I advice you not to try. I am a ordinary technician and I can say that in my case it was very very difficult and even if I tried hard, I wasn't able fix all connections. Only two of my buttons work right now.
How to Replace Button Strip?
Anyone know of a link showing how to replace this strip? Either I can't find key words for a search or there aren't any good videos out there. - thanks
Good to hear I'm not the only one to snap it so easily. Ordered a replacement from e-bay.
Sorry to dig up an old post but, I need that little wire that connects the wifi/bluetooth module to the main board. I replaced the digitizer in my phone and I somehow jacked up one of the ends on the cable. Anyone out there have parts?
In the middle of disassembling my Legend to replace a bad digitizer, I broke the ribbon cable connecting the power button to the PCB. I haven't reassembled it yet, but I can't see how it's going to work.

(Sorry I can't post links because of post count.)
If anyone knows what the best way to repair this would be, I would be most appreciative. Thank you.
EDIT:
It seems this is the piece I need to replace.

Anyone know where I could go about finding one of these? The part number turns up nothing on Google.
I would find a service center and ask there, or I would solder it , it's just two wires....
But be sure you purchase a part with the ribbon cable on it, what I've seen it didn't look like it was there...
Good luck...
Called HTC service center. Unfortunately they don't sell parts direct.
I thought about soldering it, however the ribbon broke so close to the base that I am not sure I would be able to get access to the conductor.
Anyone have a trashed Legend that I could buy for parts?
HI,
Where can I find the main board Circuit Diagram of Samsung Vibrant or Galaxy S i-9000?
My phone started to develop corrosion under the USB controller chip, I need to get the chip part number in order to replace it.
Thanks!
I might have seen one on craigslist. I'm on phone and I can't check right now
Thanks for the tip but I could not find the diagram on craigslist.
Diagram download link would be highly appriceated! Anyone?
Other than a layout diagram i do not think you will find a schematic. Maybe someone has But i tried to get one a while back and never did find. Good luck
I replaced my digitizer and lcd screen but i made a mistake while at it.
I need a new wire but I have no idea what it is for, so I can't search on where to buy it.
It's the longest wire and I think it is the antenna because I can't scan for a wifi or get any data running.
It plugs in to a small circular plug both ways. There are two smaller ones (black and white) right next to the vibrator.
Can anyone help me out???
Indeed, sounds like WiFi antenna.
Just my luck.. Already did a search and I can't find anywhere that sells that piece.
Does anyone know where I can find it?
You tried soldering, if possible? Sometimes full housings on ebay come with pieces like that.
I have never soldered before and I would give it a try if someone told me what to buy... I don't want to mess it up then have to buy a full housing
