[Q] Roms for F320 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need some guidance regarding Korean and International version. I hate stock roms so the first thing I have to do is to flash custom rom after buying the phone. I'm getting F320 at very good price but unable to find any roms for F320. Can I flash D802 Roms on F320. If not, is there any way such that I could convert F320 to D802 as hardware is same. Thanks.

The 320s are easy to soft brrick and there are far less custom roms for them. If you need custom capabilities I recommed avoiding the Korean versions for the timr being.

If you would like external SD and removable battery then the F320 is the way to go.
Soft bricks are exactly that...... easy to fix....
I am currently assisting in development for AOSP Roms inc Carbon so development is on the way...
Patience is a virtue..

I usually don't like to ask or would never ask of this.
I'm looking for a korean g2. I want to do dev work.. my friend wants to get a G2 but he wants external SD .. I really don't need or care for it but i wanna work on it since he wants that model..
if someone can get me a loaner just for testing purposes.. I don't need it for long. just to get everything working properly and rolling..
I've already brought the aosp for korean models but not everything works..
If you don't trust me , i'll be willing to send my canadian G2 in exchange and hold till i'm done with the korean variant. I'm not asking for someone to give me a phone nor would i take one. i don't work that way. I just need it so that the testing would be easier for me since my time schedule is busy and the time difference ..
i wouldn't need it for long.. since i can't afford to buy an extra g2... if someone can even sell me one and i can pay back but little by little i'm willing to do that.. it has to be GSM with exteranl sd. like i said i can't afford to pay for it now . but i will pay for it if someone can find me one for a good price..
I've been busy but will have alittle extra time.. I just released Kitkat 4.4 for my other device the LG Optimus G on the day sources released and now with version 3 i fixed up all the issues and now external SD works for the LGOG kitkat 4.4 ..
my LGOG kitkat 4.4 thread can be found here if any of you guys still an LGOG it works for the international E975 too

I am eager enough for a proper AOSP ROM to look into this
So what would be required is that I ship my LG F320L to yourself, you do the required and send it back.
Challange 1) I live in the Netherlands, so shipping slow will be time consuming and shipping fast will be money consuming
Challange 2) in between I will need to run on another phone, not impossible, let me have a look at the options :cyclops:
Just checked and Fedex is telling me it's about $100 each way, but would be within 24 hour, which means I will be investing $200 into the community.
I love all these applicable smilies

a friend of mine flashed d802 stock rom using the flashtool on f320,
now the phone boots but the touch is impossible to use,
tried to flash ot back, but i got the croosdl from d802 to f320 problem,
since i don't have custom recovery or root. i can't change the build.prop.
any idea how to bypass this check? and flash it back to f320?

Flash back to stock with .tot method and edit the dll or .tot with hex editor and change f320 to d802.
I am not sure or it was the .tot file or the .dll file you need to edit with hex. But if you edit it from f320 to d802 then it will say that its good and it will flash stock.

Will try it. My logic tells me that it will be easier to edit the dll, than the 2gb tot file. Hope it will fix it.

[Q] Possibility of rooting/installing roms/recoveries?

I just ordered a G2 and I was wondering, if it comes with an android version higher than 4.2.2, maybe kitkat 4.4.2, can I still root, install recoveries and roms on it???
This is very important to me, if I can't do that it would be just a freaking huge loss.
Thanks in advance.
Depends on what model number where you purchased it from and and also what country there's a good chance it will have 4.4.2 but no way to know until you get it

Think of it like this most new devices will come with the lasted firmware.. All you need for g2 is model and think of latest firmware and start researching
Thanks

root.....towel root ... done, then install supersu from play store if you want control over root
custom recovery... autorec... done
Thanks all. The phone should be here in 5-9 days... if they don't f*** up. Hahaha.
I will probably post a follow-up in this thread again when that happens

No progress yet if any one that have done flashing any rom on this device kindly help us to do so too.

No luck
I have this phone since last September and really regret that I bought it. Even though it looks like and feels like a normal 9505 or 9500 model, due to its specifications you can not use any custom rom of more common variants. (No Cyanogen, No Miui, No any other well known custom rom). Do not even try flashing 9505 or 9500 roms, I managed to soft brick my phone already with them.
There is almost zero support for this product in forums or if there is any it is in Korean language. The only custom rom I came across is TeamLeader rom, which is a cleaner stock rom practically, getting rid of Samsung's bloatware, but nothing special, same user experience.
IIRC the SHV-E300 is the Galaxy S4 LTE-A and more or less the same device as the ks01lte. So take a look in the i9506 section, there you will find some custom ROMs for your phone, some already LP-based.
I recommend arters 97's CM12, he is doing a great job on this phone.

don't install any custom rom for now if you want everything in working order.
and If u want to upgrade to lollipop, just download firmware of another s4 with same configuration from sammobile.com

NOt get 5.0 :'( words hurt man they really do
First of all, lets get something straight. Most people use the term "bricked" improperly. A bricked phone means one thing: your phone won't turn on in any way, shape or form, and there's nothing you can do to fix it. It is, for all intents and purposes, as useful as a brick. A phone stuck in a boot loop is not bricked, nor is a phone that boots straight into recovery mode. These are things you can usually fix, and they're a lot more common than a truly bricked phone. If your phone is actually bricked, you won't be able to fix it yourself (but there are things you can do
If Your Phone Is Truly Bricked: Take It Into the Store and Play Dumb
If your phone is actually bricked—that is, it won't turn on at all, no matter how hard you try—it's time to give up and move on. The first thing you can do in this situation is try to take it back to your carrier's store and play dumb—just say something like "I don't know what happened, but my phone won't turn on anymore" (don't tell them you rooted it, obviously). Most carriers don't have time to deal with such issues and they'll just give you a new phone. Sure, it's a tad evil, but it should work most of the time

OOHHH the phone . i tought you menat carrier.. i think its posible.. if you flash stock LG firmware..
now the question is is it really a at&t d800 phone?? some phone were refurbished and used different motherboards.. so phone says is d800 all aaround it and inside phone.. the only way to know uis by looking underneath the motherboard... this is if its been refurbished.. or was bought from ebay.. ect.... but if you want to try to go back to stock use this guide .. am not responsible for brick okey. read carefully. assuming you have a d800.. if falshed and all works correctly no ghost touch or touch screen having funny behaviour then you must check for variant.. if you want to go aheas and go back use this guide. read what you dont understand just ask, this will wipe everything in phone and leave it as new.. no traces.

The phone was advertised as refurbished. Should I just follow the guide you linked or should I first make sure which Model/Motherboard I am working with ?
Thanks alot for the help so far

First make sure what variant you really have.. then we can proceed with flashing..
you will know by looking underneath motherboard. pay no attention to other parts.

Dont try to flash the kdz, you will brick your device.......................... I never said anything about flashing the kdz................
I learned a long time ago in my G3 days, Kernel deving which I still do for the HTC10 now, but the LG Korean Editions are the same hardware that the T-Mobile Editions use...........
Look on this thread for when I ported the Korean MM rom over before it was released for T-Mobile.......................
When you work with enough kernels like I do, and you should know the kernel is the main part for hardware controlling, you get to understand your device and any device that pertains to it,
The defconfig for the G3 f400 was a perfect match to the defconfig of the G3 D851 -T-Mobile, except F400 had one exra part that didnt make much of a dif........
Out of the 9 variants that LG Put out for the G3 only 1 device came close to the D851 T-Mobile, and that was the f400 Korean edition................
Now do you understand how I know this? Unless LG changed something to keep it from booting on anything other then the intended device, It should boot on our device with the proper extracting and fix
ups.............
Do not flash the KDZ, you will brick your device....................................................... Only 2 parts of that whole KDZ can be used.. and thats boot and system ................
and system has to have some modifications done to it, or playstore will keep crashing.............................
I went though all this on the MM port as well.......... took me 2 days to figure out what it was............................
When I ported the MM over to the T-Mobile Edition, I ran it for 4 days with a few testers, on the 4th day I released it to the public, 45 mins later t-mobile tweeted they are releasing MM that day............
So I know LG/T-Mobile troll this Forum.......... maybe not as much anymore since v20 is surpassed the v10 ..
thank you eliminator for the explanation. i was completely lost and almost bricked my phone.
Could you please mention clearly that flashing KDZ files on DIFFERENT VARIANTS will BRICK DEVICE
It is most important.
THANKS

To build a working version.
It is NOT to be used as a finished product.
This is not a rom lol.ive tried booting this using system and boot.of course it didnt work.probably need the 7.0 bootloader too.it doesnt get past lg splash screen.
My kids LG Stylo 2 Plus got Nougat before my V10. Shame
man..... I love the V10 so much I just don't think it got enough public attention to be in enough peoples hands like Devs who could get a bunch of working and stable ROMs. Kinda sad really when this phone is really underrated.

No one needs to hack on this. In a few months time the builds for our versions of the V10 will be released and then hopefully we can use dirty cow to root them the same as we did marshmallow.

LOOKING FORWARD!!!! :fingers-crossed:

LG V20 Development Health

OKAY so
I'm very late to the party, everyone is already settled in and or leaving.
I'm wondering about how is the ROM/Recovery/Kernel development going for this phone? Is it still going? do aspiring developers and geniuses still work on this device or have they already moved on? Do we have daily-driver worthy AOSP ROM? Does anyone still maintain a stock custom ROM?
Basically, i'm about to get a V20 to replace my Z5 and I want to know how fun this phone to satisfy my flashingitis

If you have looked in development section you will have noticed that the development for this phone is basically dead. It is a great device for a great price currently but most devs have moved on to the newer phones to work on.

Hopefully your device will come with an older security patch that will allow you to root. Shut off auto update in developer mode when you get it until your sure of what you've got. And don't install any system updates until also or you may lose the opportunity to root.

Yeah.. not much is happening, I saw unofficial lineageOS, weekly LineageOS, couple of Roms, Kernels and Recoveries
I honestly don't know how much development is "healthy", Manufacturers have released too many phones too quickly and devs switching to new devices.
I dont know anymore

They do for the unlocked US996, and the H918 can be unlocked with fastboot, but no flash command, so it is pretty useless. The H910 is the only carrier branded model that can still be rooted on the latest firmware version. Well, more to the point, it can be rolled back to a version that IS rootable because AT&T hasn't incremented ARB on it yet.

AH, so if i want to flash custom ROM on it, i will have to find US996 variant, or H910. Otherwise, not much we can do.
got it.
the official one released in my country, Indonesia, is the dual sim H990DS one, i should avoid that and find for second hand US996 variant instead.
yeah i was hoping root can be found for the H918 10q.. but it appears that may never happen..

I ALMOST pulled the trigger for H918, it works with my country's 4G band and it's cheaper than other models, comes with box. Glad I asked first
ON ANOTHER TOPIC, hey jaws, how's the LG Watch Urbane 2 with custom strap going?
Wait, remind me again. if H918 has no flash command on fastboot and can't be rooted, how is it possible that there's LineageOS for H918
All my knowledge is for verizon version, which didnt have an unlocked bootloader, but i rooted using dirty santa, was a pain but once i got root was all good. There is a stock flashable once rooted to answer ur 1st post, and kdz to stock phone files if you mess up dirty Santa like i did 1st time. All the stuff needed, stock boot.img's, custom/stock kernel variants, roms, etc is out there just gotta dig a bit. Is an excellent phone imo, especially if youre into high quality audio. Quad dac is a beast. A shame how little of support it got. It still compares to the new phones coming out now. Imo

I'm happy as long as i can get root, and flash different ROMs, I dont mind complicated method involving command lines. It reminds me of good ol' Desire HD days with S-OFF.
I guess development is not very lively but some people do work on interesting stuffs.
Good enough for me.
I guess this is one of the few phones the verizon version has a slight advantage. Almost all the KDZ files are available, and all downgradeable (for now). Personally I have bounced back and forth almost daily between full un-root, to root access, etc. Don't ask why, no idea.
Development is pretty minimal, which is a bit sad. But it seems to work great, rather than the ole days when development here on XDA basically was a must for a phone to function.
